Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

20969 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Where do i begin... at 27 Feb 2012 10:40:03 AM
Was a 3 customer for 4 years... HAd problems with reception so I was being sent a new sim card from vodafone to help.
waited 2 weeks for said sim card... it never arrived... during this time my iphone broke and I was due an upgrade so i call vodafone and ask to have an upgrade shipped with the new sim card... 6 weeks later I get my new phone and activate my new sim card... it took 9 weeks for the sim card to port over from 3 to Vodafone and they charged me for both sim cards.
Now that im with vodafone I am experiencing WORSE coverage next to no 3g coverage... i dont even bother to using anything 3g anymore... I was given a $15 credit for 3 months for my troubles...

Using the telephone credit card recharge option for 2 or more years no. Suddenly 2 months ago it failed, taking my cash and not giving me my credit. So I have to wait til the payment clears.
-3 Day wait-
Then fax (yes, fax) off a statement and details explaining that I want the money refunded.
-5 BUSINESS Days wait -
They then acknowledge its their fault, and will refund
- 5 MORE business days wait-
So i was $80 out of pocket for 3 weeks (and I'm a uni student, hardly made of money).
OK pain in the ass, but accidents happen. Then last week, it happens AGAIN! 2/3 most recent recharges. FML. Hope vodafone goes under and CEO's end up on the street.
Cant wait to move to Telstra

3g service is horrible, delayed text messages, bad coverage & constant outages. Internet on the iPhone only works early in the morning or late at night in between peak hours, when it works it's comparable to dial up speeds. Out of 10 I wouldn't even give Vodafone 1.

26 Feb 2012 03:11:11 PM: I was in the Queen Street Mall asking 2 out of the 4 Vodafone stores (within a 100 metres of each other)about the reception.
Plenty of sales and no usable network reception.
One store I stopped at had 1 bar and no towers.
One guy from one store said he has cancelled many contracts due to no reception.
One young woman at a store straight across the mall(less than 10 meters away)said all of the Vodafone employees at her store have Vodafone connections and NONE of them have any reception problems.
I told her she was full of public relations drivell! (AKA) crap!

20957 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A blackhole at 25 Feb 2012 02:00:22 PM
Has anyone else experienced the blackhole that is Vodafone handset
insurance? I am needing some urgent help resolving an issue with them.
A month ago I walked into a Vodafone store and asked for assistance
making an insurance claim for my broken handset.
I was told Vodafone don't handle the insurance themselves, and to
contact the insurance company.
When I tried to call the insurance company, their call centre was out
and so I had to submit the claim online.
After waiting a week without response, I finally rang the insurance
company, and this time their call centre was working, so they gave me
a claim number and asked me to drop my phone into a store. So I did
that evening.
10 days later I call the insurance company to find out what was
happening, as I hadn't heard anything from them. They informed me that
they haven't received the phone from the store, they ask me to contact
the store to find out what happened to the phone.
I looked up the store on Vodafone's website, and called the listed
number. It went through to Vodafone's call centre, at which point I
asked to be transferred to the store. The call centre employee first
refused, then claimed to be unable, then claimed to be unauthorised. I
then asked for the phone number for the store, and was refused again.
I then asked to be transferred to someone who might be able to either
transfer me, or provide me with a number to call. Once again he
refused me, at which point I asked him for his name, so I could lodge
a complaint, at which point he hung up on me.
I then appealed to the social media team via Twitter. For the past
week I have been dealing with them trying to find out where my handset
has disappeared to.
Yesterday they let slip that they haven't even tried contacting the store
yet; that they have been spending the past week trying to contact the
insurance company.
On Monday I don't expect any progress; rather, I expect I'll be
contacting the TIO. Still, if anyone has any advice on how to get
Vodafone to resolve issues like this, I would be very appreciative.

20953 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Always out of connection at 25 Feb 2012 11:19:45 AM
I am an international student in Canberra, the capital, and I think I am also going to get rid of Vodafone Internet Mobile Broadband. It's really horribly slow. Its internet connection is even slower than that in the third-world countries. It has often been out of connection. And the Vodafone customer service isn't working well. It often takes a long long time for me to hold the line until I can get in touch with some one. Last year, I was a Vodafone post-paid customer, but they calculated the wrong bill to me (instead of paying 29 AUD/month, I was required to pay 50 AUD). I made a complaint and required them to cancel the contract. But after that I still got the bill from them!
Internet is becoming very essential to my life. But Telstra is quite expensive, and Optus is not working well either. So, I retured with pre-paid Vodafone. But it has been working badly. I can't believe this is a country of modern technology!

It's Vodafone that is backwards.
There is an Organisation called the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.
They are authorised to argue on your behalf(help you)
Their telephone number is 1800 062058(FREE NUMBER)
You can also make a complaint online here, if you go to the top of the page,or the TIO website.
Enjoy your study in Australia and leave Vodafone and choose o GOOD company.

20951 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic fail at 24 Feb 2012 03:42:43 PM
Voda has been out for over 24 hours AGAIN on the far south coast NSW, it's quite normal to have absolutely piss poor performance, and despite them spending zillions on a new and beter network, or what ever the latest spin is, the service everywhere I go is shite!
20950 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is The worst organisation I have EVER dealt with at 24 Feb 2012 02:28:09 PM
Due to shocking coverage, I cancelled my mobile plan with Vodafone. I still had a Vodafone Wireless Mobile Internet.
I cancelled that too on 18 Jan but have still been billed $39 for Jan & Feb. They said they put in a 'request' to cancel it but it did not go through.
When I finally get put through to the Dept that can cancel and refund... they hang up on me
Easily the worst organisation I have ever dealt with. Forgetting the coverage issues, they cant even cancel an account that is out of contract and stop charging me

I have been having problems with my vodafail reception for months now and was told in January that the issues in my area would be fixed in April, but after having my 4th phone call drop out for THE LAST HOUR I called vodafail and have now been told that it will be fixed by...wait for it.....JULY! After telling the guy on the phone that it wasn't good enough and I would be leaving their network for a rival network (I have been a customer of vodafail for almost 10 years now)I was told by the guy that I will be back as they have had people leave and come back, to this I laughed, wished him well and hung up!

How can vodafail put add's on during the cricket saying they are upgrading there network, WHEN is this going to happen, that is false advertising. They have not improved they're network it has got a gazillion times worse. I once respected Adam Gilchrist but not now. Shame Gilchrist Shame

Currently trying to fix an issue with vodafone regarding data usage. For some reason late last year the data with my $69 plan changed. Have now received a bill showing I have gone over my data usage. The conflicting information I receive is
Calling 1512- you have 2.6GB remaining of your original 1.3GB.......someone doesn't know maths!!!!
Hobart store- your plan has some how reverted and you have 1.5GB......what the heck!!!!!
Calling 1555- you actually have 3.GB (tried to explain that the 3GB is broken up into Slots of data!
My vodafone (Internet)- 2GB
I await the call from vodafone tomorrow and will certainly be calling TIO first thing Friday morning if no resolution!

20943 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shocking at 23 Feb 2012 04:03:08 PM
Usual shocking reception, data speeds, SMS send failures, voicemail etc. called Vodafone & on hold to india for 50 mins. Told them I wanted to leave. Was offered 4 months to stay. Since I only had 4 months left on my contract, I thought "what the hell?". I'd keep my handset, then I can move to Telstra. Cool!!
Next month, I got a bill! Odd I thought as I have 4 months free. Rang Voda. Told no record of it. Assured it would be applied. Same thing next month. 45 mins on hold, only for call to drop out. Again, regular as clockwork, my bill came again now over $300!! Threatened with service restriction. By this stage I was over talking to Vodafones "service" centre in India.
Out of the blue got a call from the Tasmanian call centre doing a random "customer satisfaction" survey. Told her the issues and she told me a retention team member would be in touch. 2 weeks later, Indian team member called. Had no idea what was going on, was only told to call me.
I hung up. Lodged a complaint with the TIO. Thats supposed to STOP all collection action etc. what the hell, it's only a government regulation right??? So woke up one day & my phone is barred!!!
Called ombudsman & was given direct line to their TIO liaison team (they're Australians who speak English as a first language thank the Lord!!). Had restrictions lifted, my 4 months credited and I'm finally getting what Vodafone promised e over 4 months previously!!
Now, I'm off to Telstra to go with them and actually get reception & the service I pay for! Good to get the result from Vodafone, but it's just not good enough. You've lost my business FOR LIFE!!!

Over the last few days I have been receiving info SMS about my account balance. 2 in an hour when I didn't use my phone at all. One minute I had $6 then a minute later $17 and I hadn't topped up! Called India, they said there 'usage' system calculator had been 'down' since 25 January and will probably be fixed on 28 Feb... to ease my pain they gave me 25 mins free calls. after 7 days I demanded they cancel my contract, and, after much arguing with them, they have decided to cancel the contract and I will return the handset.

20933 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is How long is a piece of string at 22 Feb 2012 01:34:06 PM
Im not in a "mess" anymore, I am porting back to Telstra and will enjoy 4G. This is my recent experience. I live at Bondi Beach and have been with VodaFAIL for nearly 4 years. I rue the day I ported from Telstra. Back in Septemeber last year, I decided to get on a data plan for my iPad with vodafone(they don't even deserve capitalization of their rubbish brand!) Immediately I was noticing heavy 'shaping' of data-flow. It was so bad I had a cry to voda about it. They subsequently gave me 3 months free access. Well, month #4 I knew that the data flow for internet was below dial-up speed and paid 1 month and told them I wasn't interested in a data plan that meant my browser couldn't even find a server because of the 'shaping'. Fast forward to Jan. Since I had my ipad, I repetitiously ran a speedtest to see just how bad it was. ( I kept the logs!)
How can you expect data-flow when it is 'shaped' to be slower than dial-up? This is absolutely nowhere in the T&C that I would be subjected to 'shaping' in the largest city in Australia. There are times I get a D/L speed of 0.10KB/s and U/P at half that again.
Well, to cut a long story short, I went to Telstra today to return back to the service I KNOW is better and more reliable. All I ever got from vodaFAIL were spiels about "network issues", which is just rubbish. vodaFAIL are still using old 3 network that was substandard to begin with.
I thought I'd pay vodaFAIL the courtesy of ringing them and giving them the opportunity to release me from my last 4 months because they were interested in good customer service. Well, I just finished with someone in vodaFAIL, they offered me a 50% discount on the remainder of my plan. As you may assume, I am not going to pay them another cent. vodaFAIL have a bad reputation for a very good reason...THEY EARNED IT THEMSELVES. I will await the demand letters, the bad credit rating for defaulting on the contract, and then I will see vodaFAIL in the CTTT, bring all my own evidence that THEY have breached our contractual agreement by service failure unrelated to "network outage" of network issues".
The ONLY issue is, that vodaFAIL just won't do what they need to do to correct how someone in a city of millions cannot even get Google to load and receives "remote server not found". I'm no techno-geek, but I am also far from being uneducated with relation to shaping. The same applies for an understaning of The Trade Practices Act, Fair Trading and how the ACCC have already hauled vodaFAIL over the coals over handset warranty.
To YOU vodafone, you can kiss my arse and I look forward to nothing more than embarrassing you in front of a Registrar with your crappy history of disgruntled(rightfully so!) and dissatisfied customers. I wouldn't recomment vodaFAIL to a third world country, as the country would derserve better than dealing with vodaDOLTS that have no grasp of The Trade Practices Act in Australia.
Me V's vodfone?
Yeah, dream on vodaFAIL. I did my research well
How can you expect data-flow when it is 'shaped' to be slower than dial-up?

Vodafone travellers services for overseas travellers is supposed to provide a fixed price cover for phones while going overseas. There is even a special iPhone plan, which should reasonably include iPhone functionality i.e. emails, messages and phone calls. However, should you be normal enough to use emails and other services, other than calls, they'll suck you dry for all the money they can despite your traveller coverage. Howz that for deceptive marketing ? I'd love to throw the vodafone management who think up these slimy money-grabbing tricks down a shitter and seal the top.

I moved from 3 to voda and hav had constant trouble with their network, when I do get to talk to a techy they tell me its my phone, its brand new and bought through voda and meant to work on their new network, yet I cant use even facebook, or app store, or youtube or even the standard browser. So much for new super fast network rollout. Xant even hold a 2G connection let alone a 3G or better. Lies and theft in broad daylight, with no help whatsoever from their end.

3G reception is ridiculous. Sometimes great reception, most of the time no reception or too slow. This is in the south, north and the CBD. I thought the networks upgrades would help? It is like they have limited 3g slots on each tower and cycle their customers from 3g to edge.... Will be moving to telstra ASAP

Vodafone India Monday said it is launching a series of new TV commercials, marking the return of cheeka, the pug,and focussing on the quality of its network.
"Through this new communication campaign,we would like to reinforce the belief that Vodafone network offers a superior experience across three key parameters that define the depth or quality of a network -- voice quality and clarity, instant connectivity and no call drops," it said.
The campaign would also highlight Vodafone's global network with presence across 72 countries

I work in Sydney CBD. I am on PrePaid. Use the iPhone 4.
At my desk, on level 8 of a building on Kent st, I struggle with reception for both voice and data. One minute its working, the other it's not. Its bipolar.
Im not the only one. My colleagues who are also on Vodafone suffer from the crap reception. Advice given to everyone in our building is to move to Telstra as they have no reception issues whatsoever.

20922 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 21 Feb 2012 12:12:16 PM
I am with 3 mobile, who are essentially Vodafone. In a supposably 3G comparable area, I stand out the front of my house, on a clear day, during low peak times and will barely get one bar and usually will roam with frequent drop outs. This is right in the middle of suburban Canberra. My wife had similar problems with Vodafone. Switched to Telstra and has not had a single issue.
24 Feb 2012 01:40:27 AM: This is a 3 problem, not a Vodafone problem. 3's network and vodafone's network are still separate at the moment as 3 has a 50/50 stakehold in its 3G network with Optus. So whatever problems you are experiencing is not due to the Vodafone network because it runs separately from 3. Plus if you have poor reception issues on 3, switch your phone to roaming and use Telstra's network, just make sure you don't use the Internet.

20 Feb 2012 02:51:16 PM: Don't bother calling Vodafone Mumbai, they will tell you that you are a liar and that 5 of the phones are broken.
This is common thing that they tellyou when they do not have a record.
Each one of you will have to call those morons and get a recepit number.
That's if your service does not drop out,and it probably will.
They will offer you a 50% discount on the monthly post paid service.
That will amount to nothing because,it is 50% of nothing(FUNNY MONEY)
You service will not work anyway.
The pre paids they will give you Vodafone to Vodafone free minutes, that will amount to nothing(MORE FUNNY MONEY)BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A RELIABLE SERVICE THAT YOU CAN USE.

Have a faulty Galaxy SII sent for repair due to excessive battery drain and overheating. Came back with a component replaced, and a faulty battery. Battery worked when I gave it to them. After much time on the phone I managed to get them to agree to replace the battery, which I would have to buy myself, and they would then credit the amount back.
Picked up my phone, bought a new battery and noticed the phone was running very hot. Battery drained fairly quickly. Plugged phone in to charge and it was dead.
Called Vodafail support and was told they would try and organise a replacement handset. Then I was told they don't have any replacements. I asked why they are still selling them then, and they informed me they could only give me a reconditioned handset (which they have no stock), and not a new handset as I only had 4 months left on my contract!
I was then informed the only other option would be to have it repaired. I asked them to find a store in Sydney CBD that has as loan phone, as this was a problem last time. Had a callback with a store in Canberra...Needless to say I requested they find me another one, this time in Sydney. I received no call back.
When I did call back myself, I was told they could not find any stores with loan phones, that was why I was not called back. So they happily told me my only option was to put it in for repair and wait for it to be fixed. And in the mean time, I am uncontactable.

I came across from three recently. I finally got my faulty S2 replaced by a friendly kios after many calls to staff.I get a text at 530pm to say thanks for upgrading to a white iphone and 59 dollar plan! Called the 1555 and they tell me i signed a contract and had to back yo the store! I tell them, no way and argue like it is my issue. Wasted breath. Called the kiosk and it turns out, the wrong number was upgraded by a store I have never been to. Now it is up to me to follow up on the next billing date to get the credit etc.

What are 3G networks for? The data feed is so slow but most of all Vodafail can't even get the time right. The standard says that you can set your phone off the network time. And you can except the time is wrong. You ring up and complain and they tell you there is no problem.
It may not seem like much except it will make you miss your train or be late for your appointment.

21 Feb 2012 10:46:06 AM: It should be no problem to get the time right. Clock synchronisation programs have been around for ages and do a fantastic job.
What's so hard about fixing this, getting it right once and letting it stay right?
Vodafone don't even do daylight savings changeover properly!

Few months ago I subscribed one of those pocket wifi with vodafone... Crappy service, not happy at all, and I cancelled the service after two supposed "free extra months" offered in the retention team.
Once I cancelled the service, I was instructed to return the device through a return box that I never received. after calling a thousand of times to get the box, I went to one store to return the device.
I have been receiving every month a big bill that I should't pay.. I call them over and over again to explain my situation and every time they say that the problem is sorted, that I owe nothing, until I receive the same bill the next month.
Don't know what to do, I am desperate with this and mortified that this may affect my credit record (which I don't have)... and I don't want to pay a bill that I don't owe.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

20902 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Charging AUD 2000 after cancelling service via Vodafone network guarantee at 19 Feb 2012 06:54:08 AM
Hi, I have purchased 3 Vodafone subscriptions on the 13th of Jan that I cancelled (all) on the 29th, as Vodafone could not provide me usable network even in Brisbane CBD. (Actually the Vodafone network experience is the worst in my life, even if compared to mobile networks in Africa)
I returned all devices in their original condition to a Vodafone store where I got a form statin that I cancelled the contract via their Network Guarantee.
yesterday evening I almost died when I saw their AUD 2000 invoice with early termination fees... and they will charge this onto my credit card, there is no way to block it.
I feel this is pure theft - if advertising a guarantee that is not applied at all is tolerated in Australia then the legal system here is a joke...
Customer service obviously does not help, they always have different excuses, they seem to be creative...but I am not against the idea to go to the Vodafone shop with a huge poster on my back with this story for 1-2 weekend days (let's see how many customers the will lose if I do this)

Customer service obviously does not help, they always have different excuses, they seem to be creative...but I am not against the idea to go to the Vodafone shop with a huge poster on my back with this story for 1-2 weekend days (let's see how many customers the will lose if I do this)
19 Feb 2012 09:28:29 AM: the legal system is a complete joke - the ACMA are asleep at the wheel.
19 Feb 2012 11:11:45 AM: To the OP, you need to take this matter direct to the TIO.
It is an inexcusable state of affairs and $2000 is a huge amount to pay.
VF will have 10 working days to respond to your TIO complaint, they should come to the party, if not escalate again to the TIO using your original TIO reference number.
Simply not good enough by any stretch of the imagination.

19 Feb 2012 11:34:41 AM: To the OP,
take the bill, and the network guarantee form into a store show it them and they will do everything they can to fix it. Clearly its just somethign in their system that fucked up or wasnt applied properly. and what do you mean there is no way to block it, get them to delete your credit card details from their system before they charge it your credit card.
to the first commenter the ACMA is a government body, the legal system is the courts.

19 Feb 2012 02:51:12 PM: To the poster above:
The OP clearly stated in their post:
I returned all devices in their original condition to a Vodafone store where I got a form statin that I cancelled the contract via their Network Guarantee.
So the store staff perhaps did not do everything they can to fix it, otherwise the OP would not have been invoiced for $2000......hardly rocket science........is it?

19 Feb 2012 03:03:32 PM: or the staff did everything they can (sending the completed form to the team that handles the network guarantee claims) and it was either processed improperly, or some box wasnt checked. i doubt the staff just lazily didnt submit it, or someone tried to just forget it and hope the OP didnt notice the $2000. what im saying is that people on this site act as if the VF staff are malicious. They are just doing their jobs
19 Feb 2012 03:43:48 PM: @19 Feb 2012 03:03:32 PM: So we agree then, somebody (not the customer) stuffed up and did not properly do their job, by either not properly processing the form to the network team or not checking some box........hardly a sign of data entry or quality control.
You are the first person to use the word malicious on this thread and the coup de grace you say they are just doing their jobs......seems to me they need more training to do the job correctly otherwise the OP would not be left with a worrying $2000 invoice!
Or am I missing something here?

21 Feb 2012 03:13:34 PM: Issue solved now, total claims are now 0$. Most efficient way was to write onto their Facebook wall - they reacted to that immediately and effectively! Good luck for everyone and thanks for the advice!

20901 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unlocking my mobile phone at 19 Feb 2012 06:08:32 AM
I purchased my phone outright a few years ago. I do not have a contract ( never signed one)with Vodafone. I am a pre-paid customer. The coverage is pathetic so i decided to move to another provider. However, it is taking the staff of Vodafone 8+ days to unlock my phone. I am still waiting. It says on the Vodafone website it is easy to unlock if you purchased a phone at vodafone and it takes 10-15 mins to unlock on the internet. Well i am still waiting after 8 days. I have phoned several times (staff in India cannot solve my problem too)and I have gone to the store in penrith three tmes( place of purchase)to discuss my problem. The unlocking code is invalid and no one is taking responsibility to solve the problem. Their motto "we are listening", it seems that NO ONE is listening to me. On Saturday 18 feb 2012, I spoke to the manager of the penrith store who has taken all my details. I am now awaiting a response from her on Monday 20th feb. Vodafone is now holding my mobile phone hostage because the support team cannot unlock my phone. I am a 53 yrs old woman and I believe that if i have a breakdown or flat while driving, Vodafone is responsible for my safety because I cannot call triple zero for a tyre change. HELP!!!
19 Feb 2012 11:20:04 AM: I feel your pain.
You will have to wait until Monday for action, if any, by VF.
If of any comfort you are not alone in getting your phone unlocked, there have been several users posting here with the same problem.
It may be that no-one in VF can assist you in this matter, in which case you may need to look to purchase an unlocked phone from elsewhere.
You are certainly entitled to take the matter to the TIO, by doing so it may make a difference.
Sadly it appears never to be easy dealing with VF.
Power to you.

19 Feb 2012 01:15:05 PM: Its all well and good (by that i mean potentially justified, albeit often offensive) for the moderators here to say that the company has unsatisfactory coverage, a frustrating customer service line (lara) and troubles with the call centre (not that i find any call centre particularly helpful). But to imply that the staff in the stores are somehow unhelpful or incompetent is ridiculous. In my experience (in launceston, melbourne, sydney, brisbane, Hobart and multiple stores in many other cities) the store staff members are just as helpful as in any other retail store (or telco for that matter)
19 Feb 2012 02:37:23 PM: Huh?
Where did you gather those little nuggets from? Surely it can't be the mods post above?
I find the mods posts to be fair and just, suggesting that VFail be given the chance to correct the issue and then if the issue persists to take the issue further.
I do not see the mods post contain anything about unsatisfactory cover, Lara, the call centre, nor any implication (no matter how much I look) that stores are somehow unhelpful or incompetent!
Are you making this up as you go along........oh and what time does the store open tomorrow?

In my experience the staff in the Melbourne stores are compeltely incompetent and only concern themselves with new sales - they don't care if the phone they signed you up for 5 minutes ago is broken - that's your problem. They are as useless as the rest of the company.
having said this, i'm sure it's not the people themselves' fault, it's the fault of the company for not resourcing them or caring about post-sale service. the staff in stores only get paid to sell sell sell..... so who can blame them for not giving a rat's about the customers once they've signed you up.

20900 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Painfully slow mobile broadband in Leichhardt NSW 2040 at 18 Feb 2012 09:05:55 PM
Live in Leichhardt NSW 2040, close to parramatta road, (near lewisham/petersham) - a main road subject to sydney's peak hour congestion, about 7 km from Sydney CBD. During peak hour mobile Internet / phone Internet will barely connect. Outside of these times I usually get 4 to 10 kb/ s download. once at 3am I got close to 180kb/s when I thought I would skype family overseas. I was strongly encouraged by my 3 provider to move to vodafone as the new network would have enhanced coverage and a better experience. Well actually it is a hundreds of times worse - and this is 3 we are talking about.
I know they are talking about upgrading sydney's inner west in march 2012, but what I would like to know what are decent benchmarks. What should I expect during peak traffic times and off peak traffic times? I would even be happy with 200 to 500 kb/s. All well and good that they tell me all will be better after the upgrade - but what is the realistic line in the sand that I would be justified in knowing that I was being taken for a ride and made the biggest fool of.
Fingers crossed, maybe the capacity in our area will be smartly increased and I will be enjoying 1to2 MB/s by april. Until then I will be enjoying the same speeds of my 14.1 dial up modem which I had in 1990s, while using Netscape. Oh what memories - can see the star spin around that N with lightning speed and hear that electronic symphony as the modem connected. If only my wifi 2 could do the same.....

19 Feb 2012 11:26:41 AM: Have you reported the lack of speed to VF?
If so what did they say?
Are you prepared to wait until an upgrade is complete?
Personally I would not wait, why should you pay for a non-existent service?
If you are prepared to wait, fine and hopefully there may be an improvement in the service, if not then report the matter to VF, let VF do their investigations with resolution. If still no better take the matter to the TIO.
An alternative provider that can deliver a service may be your only answer.

clearly something f***ed up in their systems and the guy wasnt placed in a que. Normal? i have waited for an hour and a half (and i know thats no the longest wait time) to speak to the vodafone call centre but i have also waited 4 hours to speak to virgin, 2 hours to speak to telstra, 3 hours to speak to singapore airlines, 2 hours to speak to optus. All call centres have long wait times sometimes.
This whole site confuses me, most of the crap people complain about i have experienced just as often on telstra and optus than i have on vodafone, seems to me like people just want to bitch and moan.

I feel disgusted with such unfair fee and will move to another provider once my mobile services contract will expire next month.

Dont believe what you read about towers going up in your area. You can prove this yourself by downloading on Android an app that tells you the cell ID in your area. I have driven around the Gold Coast and discovered that my phone will pickup a tower and lock into that tower. I can drive a radius of 15klm of that tower before it switches over to another tower. Now this is where it gets interesting, sometimes when I dial a landline number I get a recording saying the number is incomplete, once I add the area code it connects. I recently broke down and contacted RACQ, only to have the RACQ tell me that there system shows I called from NSW, I was a good 20klm from the NSW border, which would also explain why I had to put an area code into a local number. So how can Vodafone state that they have towers everywhere, if I'm accessing tower in another state. Even stranger, I drive over the Gold Coast everyday for work, and I never see anyone working on a tower, or building one. Maybe they have one tower that covers 5 to 10 suburbs, but state on their site as individual towers, to give the impression they have heaps of towers. This could explain why my Android App only reads a handful of towers for the whole of the Gold Coast. If so this is why we have dropouts, no data, bad reception. Maybe their only increasing the capacity to handle more calls on a handful of towers.

I regularly travel between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. I can tell you now that data is still horrible in each city. Doesn't even matter if it's peak time, the speeds are woeful. If you're going for an unlimited plan, only go for the 1GB package because there isn't a hope in hell that you'll get to use more then that.

Voicemail notifications are not arriving until maybe 2 or 3 people hours or days later leave a message.
I have complained to vodafone for almost 2 years due to sms problems and I keep hearing backing, fixed in a month, fixed in 3 months, fixed shortly etc etc.
They keep blaming coverage, yet their coverage maps show supposedly fantastic 3G coverage.
I think that after 2 years of the same problem not being fixed clearly shows that vodafone are not interested in fixing it and their 'apologies' are worthless. Come on ACCC and ACMA - how can you let this company continue to get away with blatantly selling something that is not what it is purported to be. They have even made public apologies on the network issues that are clearly related to congestion, yet they continue to add more customers. This is totally irresponsible and greedy.

My office is in Erskine Park (Sydney's West).
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I never had trouble with phone calls here. Data has never been great, but I understand that it's a little remote from heavily populated areas and so I'm not expecting blazing data speeds. Now, I'm lucky if my phone has 1 or 2 bars of cellular reception, and most of the time my iPhone says "SOS only" instead of showing signal strength.
Isn't Vodafone trying to IMPROVE their network instead of making it WORSE?!

20876 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Inconsistent at 15 Feb 2012 05:26:34 PM
Some areas and some days the reception is good. But today was bad when I was talking to a recruiter and I got cut off half way through the conversation. This inconsistent reception is not on. Please do better Vodafone! Loyal customers don't deserve this.
20874 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is BAD FAIL - NEVER GO BACK at 15 Feb 2012 04:33:32 PM
Contract completed. Walked away. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE WORST BILLING. THE WORST COVERAGE. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I would rather use string and tin cans than VODAFONE
16 Feb 2012 11:26:26 AM: Maybe a fleet of homing pidgeons, might help in delivering messages for Voda- nofone.
It would be cheaper than paying NO SERVICE VODAFONE employees from MUMBAI.
Good part is,pidgeons do not munch on curry!!!

16 Feb 2012 04:09:37 PM: bad customer service can come from any country. we cant say that just because a call centre is Mumbai that service is going to be bad
20873 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pretty, pretty, pretty fail at 15 Feb 2012 01:30:42 PM
Incoming calls divert straight to VM (despite my phone showing coverage), then I don't get notified of them for sometimes up to 24hrs.
Outgoing calls fail regularly, very often have to turn phone off and on again just to make a call.
Customer service will "get back to me in 5-10 working days" -- that's 2 weeks dammit, and all the while I am still, like a moron, paying the bill.

20872 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is blatant rip off merchants! at 15 Feb 2012 12:30:11 PM
Every time I wake up and look at my phone I have 'no service'. I have to switich my iphone off then on again to search for reception otherwise people can't contact me. WHY TAKE MY MONEY IF YOU"RE NOT GOING TO DELIVER??!
20871 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very bad data at 15 Feb 2012 12:21:11 PM
I can accept the minor call dropout, but the data connection is so far and beyond, tested at the City central station at Sydney, 9k download and 4k upload (with full bar). sometime it wont even download any data. overall about 70 - 80% I getting no connection or very slow connect. So whoever out there got told by vodafone there is nothing wrong with they network, and maybe it is they sim card, it is certainly not. because in the M5 tunnel you can get about 1Mbps to 3Mbps+ or sometime 5Mbps connection. (tested). my guess is that Vodafone is shaping speed, can't see why you can get full bar connection and no getting any data. maybe they using the data for other customer who is on prepaid account??
20870 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is FAIL - No outbound SMS 23 hours now and counting... at 15 Feb 2012 11:59:49 AM
FAIL - No outbound SMS 23 hours now and counting... Four (4) phone calls to Vodafone, approximately three (3) hours on the phone, still no outbound SMS. Can receive calls, and SMSes, but not send. Samsung Galaxy SII, tried updating SMSC using *#*#4636#*#*, Phone Information, and Vodafone SMS Centre +61415011501, but clicking Update gives "update error". Received Browser and MMS settings, and still not working. Tried VF sim in another handset with SMSC set the same, still no joy. Put SIM back, turned phone off, removed SIM, back on, tried disabling packet data, re-enabling, then escalation they tell it me it will take five (5) days. Rubbish. I'm calling the TIO next.

20865 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is DO NOT GO ON A CONTRACT WITH VODAFONE OF ANY KIND at 14 Feb 2012 05:55:49 PM
I beleive it has got to the stage where no one should go on a contract with Vodafone for anything.
It is obvious that Vodafone have no intention of honouring any contractual obligations.
I have read the horror stories of people thinking that they have cancelled their contract,or it has finished, with Vodafone, only to find out they have not,by way of finding a bad credit report for not paying for something
a You did not use
b You did not Authorise Vodafone to sign you up.
c Vodafone are incapable of any minimal credit and accounting standard.
d Vodafone have no minimal record keeping standard.
e Vodafone eliberately designs to fraudulantly scalp your money.
f Vodafone ex-customers has no redress, due to no records.
There was an old saying in the public service many years ago:
PAPER DOES NOT LIE,...PEOPLE DO.
If you can magically create an electronic file, you can magically make one go away as well.
I say,
PAPER ALWAYS WINS IN COURT
Legislatively, bring back paper contracts which you sign with a pen,and retain a copy.
VODAFONE=NOFONE

No one can ever Get through to me and I can never get through to anyone !!!!!
20863 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Mega Dodgy Fail at 14 Feb 2012 02:45:30 PM
In Bunbury Western Australia. Vodafone service has degraded over recent years and despite constant promises and upgrades, the service does not improve.
I think that everytime Vodafail/Vodafone does an upgrade - necessary not only because of faulty systems, but also largely because I believe the network is over utilised/saturated, Vodafail/Vodafone promptly signs up more new customers and saturates the new infrastructure as well.
Problems regularly experienced:
1. One side of conversation drops out, and remains dropped out until call is terminated and re-initiated - THIS HAPPENS DAILY!!!!
2. Reception dropouts - How is it that they keep telling me how their network is increasing yet the reception doesn't?
3. Phone will often not ring and goes directly to messagebank. When I get the message, I look at the phone and see good signal strength.
4. Vodafone staff keep blaming the phone and denying problems with their service. "Turn off your phone for 10 minutes and then turn it back on. That fixes most problems." I have tried several phones, even had sim card replaced. After contacting other people using vodafone in the area - they experience the same type of problems.
5. 'High Speed' Internet is non existent. Very often there is insufficient coverage to get any internet ( even though the bars of reception might show full 5 bars signal) and just shows 'E' for emergency only for the internet. When there is internet, it is usually slow. I have a 1.5GB plan with Vodafone and can rarely use it. Hence I am lucky if I get over 100MB usage for the month.
6. Voicemail notifications often do not arrive and I am only notified that there is a message after 2 or 3 voicemail messages have been left, which could be hours or days.
7. I have made numerous complaints to vodafone and tried to be escalated to a senior technician or department that might be able to work with me to solve the problems (I am a technician) on their network. They end up denying a problem and I never get the opportunity to speak to a level of support really interested in addressing rectifying the underlying problem.
8. Vodafone are more interested in adding more customers than they are fixing the existing problems.
9. I lose business because of the problems with them.

20861 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is big time at 14 Feb 2012 12:15:59 PM
I mived house to Glendalough and both my wife and I had to switch carriers as there was no Vodafone reception in our house. Interestingly we switched to 3 (owned by vodafone but using telstra towers) and had great coverage in our house. After attempting to buy a new phone contract with 3 I was told that I had no choice but to switch to Vodafone if I wanted a new phone. No deal - Voda doesn't work in our house. So I've switched to Virgin and have a new phone and contract.

20859 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Is a joke at 13 Feb 2012 09:55:35 PM
Data connection via WCDMA shows 3-4 bars on my phone yet no data can be transferred. Switch to GSM and data transfer rate a joke. No mention of any troubles on vodafails network status page
26 Feb 2012 04:11:09 PM: Ditto, for about a week now, waiting to see what happens, thought it was just my phone but perhaps not... this seems to coincide with the timing of a new tower up and running due this month, north side, I wonder if there's a connection. As it were.
