Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

I have been with vodafone for years. However since they have taken over "3" there network coverage has become unbearable. I receive text or voice messages from my wife a day later, and everytime I am on the phone, the call drops out. I am so sick of it. An example is I will be on the phone and need to call back at least 3 time within 2 minutes, however if i ring with my work phone which is with Telstra I do not have a problem and can speak on the phone for ten minutes without a problem. FIX THE PROBLEM VODAFONE.
4543 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is extreme fail in coverage at 27 Dec 2010 06:25:32 PM
I live in regional Victoria and even though Vodafone claims on their website to get 3g coverage, I don't and when i rang them they said "oh sorry, yea, you don't get 3g coverage in your area, you are restricted to 2g or no coverage at all"...which is what happens in most of the city...my IPHONE mostly has "no service"... and yet my bills are still 70 bucks a month even though i never use my phone, because I CAN'T! arrggh epic fail!
4542 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 27 Dec 2010 06:24:41 PM
Mine is an age old complaint I lodged 3 complaints via email of lousy and sloppy customer service to the point I felt the company ignored my emails or did not bother checking there inboxes, I had a faulty handset and arranged to pick up a loan handset and when on arrival at the store I left my phone they said there was no handset available, there "customer service team" were more interested in their slurpees than getting me a loan handset and I had to push for them to find one and they proceded to tell me there were none available and if I wanted could purchase one at a discount price I was without a phone for 10 days and I can tell you that it seemed longer than that, Add to that I was wanting to change handsets as mine has decided to pocket call and not close down after the 30 second limit all I got was a blank look and told I could not do anything until I was out of contract, even though I was only asking questions to the point where I was offering to renew my contract if given a new handset there seems to be a culture of your stuck so stick it, we also live in a blackspot area where at the best of times we cannot recieve calls and have to use our handsets to text when we dont want to, I and my wife will not be renewing our contract with vodafail because of there lack of customer service and if there staff dont care what does that say about the company huh go figure

About a year and a half ago I moved from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. Maroochydore to be exact. After seeking an assurance from my local Vodaphone Salesperson that there was significant coverage at my new address, i decided to purchase their mobile internet prepaid service. It has now been seven months and painfully counting. Two or three weeks it will work without a glitch, then it will completly shut down for a couple of days. This has now been a common occurance on a monthly basis. After putting up with this for three months, I contacted Vodaphone to complain, only to be told you should'nt have moved out to the sticks. (Exact words)Funny how I live three streets from a Vodaphone store!)

Hard to run an air conditioning company during your busiest time (lead up to christmas), when you look at your phone to find missed calls that didn't even ring, going straight to message bank.
Having a battery that normally lasts 3 days, barely lasting one.
I've even rang my house phone and other land lines to be told 'this number does... not exist.
WTF???

4536 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is bad reception at 27 Dec 2010 06:23:08 PM
I have been with vodafone for yrs but rescently moved house. i have complained about the lack of reception in my house, when i called them they asked me my postcode and said that i should have great coverage in that area.... IM THE ONE LIVING THERE WITH NO RECEPTION. i wouldnt be complaining if i didnt have reception... putting my postcode into a computer that simply says back YES for reception dosent mean that my phone is getting reception... FAIL

4534 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone sucks at 27 Dec 2010 06:22:44 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 13 years, I've had a few good years here and there but most if that time I have had horrendous service. I know your probably thinking why stay ? But the problems seem to go away when my contract is up and they flash a free phone at you and promise you the world- I resign! Then I'm starting it all over again. I have calls drop out, phone turns off, can't send txts or mms and if I do the get recieved a few days later. My phone says it's turned off when people call me( I miss work because of it) it goes from full service to no service in 3 seconds while sitting in the same spot. Data coverage is terrible, but the worst has been that I had emergency surgery in august and when I came out, people were trying to call me to see how I was and couldn't get threw as it says it's off, it was so upsetting for my family cause they were worried. Also when I got home I was alone and my mum tried to ring and it said it was off again!! I was laying in bed crying alone cause I couldn't talk to anyone. I tried calling customer care as I lay there, I got a rude Indian that had no sympathy and cut me off! I've had 4 iPhones in 6 months period replaced Sim cards, constantly resetting my phone, upgraded software, you name it I've done it! Apple don't have a answer and ofcourse Vodafone don't either! Just 4 days ago I went to my local store to find out how much to cancel my contract, $1000!! 2 hours later I am no better off , told to upgrade software cause that's the issue but come back and they might give me an iPhone 4- how will that fix it??? Grrrrrrrrrrrft help
4533 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 06:22:37 PM
I was on Vodafone Prepaid until recently. When I signed up in October 2008, the network was terrific. Could not complain one bit - plus it was far cheaper than Telstra! I had coverage where and when I needed it, and that's what mattered to me.
Well, In about August of 2010, things started going downhill. First it was calls being broken up. Then dropped calls. Then I couldn't send SMS's. Slowly, it got worse and worse. It got to a point I couldn't use the Internet anymore at all, 24/7. However, my phone (Nokia 3120c) always assured me I had 3 or 4 (of 4) bars...
One day it took 20 minutes for a very important text to arrive, meaning I was over half an hour late for an important appointment.
I tried contacting Vodafone (mainly through their Twitter account), but they were no help. They simply denied there were issues. I looked at people mentioning them - almost everyone was having similar issues. Hah!
That was the last straw for me. I was over Vodafone. I did the only thing I could, and I switched to Telstra (along with getting a Nokia 6120c). I've been incredibly happy with them so far - I have reception EVERYWHERE, almost always have 7 (of 7) bars, call quality is great, SMS's arrive within seconds of being sent, and I can actually use the web, too! If I've had questions, their terrific Twitter support has been able to help me out.
The best thing about it is that their equivalent Prepaid option (I was on 365 day recharge with Voda, now on Telstra Prepaid Long Life) is exactly equivalent value for money, which is great. Plus, with the recent introduction of cheaper data packs, I can even tether my phone. It's great!!
I'd encourage everyone who has issues with Vodafone to consider another provider, especially if you're on prepaid or, more recently, can get out of your contract free.
Good luck!

Most of my international SMS's don't go anywhere, they just keep failing. My calls drop out after about 1 min. I was with 3. That was okay, but since vodafone took over, terrible. Going to go somewhere else. Gave up the mobile broadband in sept. and went to vivid. Better service and based in Australia not overseas
4530 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Big at 27 Dec 2010 06:21:51 PM
I had a bill twice the amount of my usual bill two months ago. I have not once gone over my cap, during the worst part of my drop out and data coverage failure is when I received the bill. I argued it and showed previous account records, could this be due to Vodafones issues that have now come to the surface?
27 Dec 2010 07:44:02 PM: my daughter had the same problem. she was on an older '3 plan' and when her boyfriend changed to vodaphone thought the calls to him were free after 3 merged with vodaphone...told she needed to up upgrade her plan??? unfortunately, we were not aware of this for 2 BILLING PERIODS!!!

Here are a few tips to help
When you call LARA ask for sales this will cut out some of waiting (and will hopefully stop VF from signing up any new customers) when you get to speak to someone ask to THE RETENTION TEAM do not let them try to talk to you no ifs no buts RETENTION TEAM NOW, this is Australian based and they can make decsions
Always work for the best deal you can but I did get out of 2 contracts and keep the phones 1 contract was only 11 months into a 24 month contract, I said that they had not upheld their end of the contract and could not supply me with that service into the future, i had to keep pushing and they wanted me to give the phones back, just keep puhing they can not provide the service and if it was not for this you would not for this you would still be there and therefore should not be penalised for the money you have already paid against the phone
I would ask for this in writing but do not count on it i would record the call yourself, you do not want to port across to another provider and be hit with exit fees
You can also ask to reduce your contract before i got out of my contact i reduced it foe example if you are on a $114 unlimited 2GB, this is now a $99 unlimited 3GB, asked to be reduced with no penalty to you, even better ask for a reduction or FREE until they resolve the issues
VF MUST GO DOWN

I do snake catching in my spare time and my clients do not appreciate not being able to get hold of me. If I am the only snake catcher avaiable in my area and I cannot be contacted due to Vodafones dreadful call centre in India and even worse customer service, and should my client get bitten - I will hold them totally responsible.
I have been told that my suburb is 'the best in Australia for coverage', I have been offered a free extra simm card with free call diversion for one month, what use is that when I cant get coverage or have the dropped calls?
I do not accept the apology or the patronising statement of how good coverage is, I do not appreciate the dreadful English/communication skills of their support staff, nor do I accept how long I have to wait to speak to someone and then be transferred 4 times or even cut off! I have contacted the TIO and Vodafone have not offered a resolution yet, when I said I would see them in court, someone with poor English said 'Very good Madam but your suburb is the best in Australia'.
So Vodafone, you had better pray that my clients can get hold of me in an emergency or I will talk like a budgie to every newspaper I can think of and I will do so very loudly. I want out of my contract and I want out now!

4524 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Drops out constantly at 27 Dec 2010 06:21:19 PM
My husband has a Vodafone contract which he has been trying to cancel. He could not get through to the call centre so went in person to see them in person at Morley. They told him he needed to ring Vodafone up which he has tried to contact unsuccessfully since. His contract should have ceased about twelve months ago after completing two years with them. In the past year I have been using his old Vodafone phone and have been digusted with very poor intermittent reception and frequent drop outs. I used to think it was due to being in a shopping centre or traveling half an hour away but the same thing happens at home when I am sitting in my lounge room.It drops out and then back in and back out when I haven't moved at all and there is no reason why it should happen. Can anyone please tell us how we can finally withdraw from Vodafone? Much appreciate any help. Coral

4519 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is lost data allowance at 27 Dec 2010 06:20:45 PM
I used all my 3g data on my broadband internet. I recharged it (for a whole yearof credit) and lent it to my girl friend a day later. She discovered no credit it on it so recharged it with a months credit. When I got it back I discovered the full amount there but one month later all my credit expired. They fixed that and then with 6 months left it all expired again. I checked my records and discovered it did not add up so called them and discovered I had lost 4Gb which they gave back to me. Lucky I checked and did just recharge as the computer suggested.

I have been a vodafone customer for almost 5 years I joined up at the stage under the impression that 3G coverage on my old Sony k700 was only 6 months away. Finally when I upgraded 3 years later we got 3G coverage. Even at those stages I was always finding it hard to gain reception. I have previously owned an iPhone 3G and now with the the iPhone 4 still with the same reception issues.
Both myself and my father are both vodafone customers now and in a country twin with a population of over 15000 and 15 mins drive from
Wollongong the states 3rd largest city we both have limited to no reception when we are at our home.
Sadly I don't think this justifies the amount of money I have forked out over the years to remain "loyal"

Have a mobile broadband that according to the coverage , where I live is supposed to be excellent. Guess what, no service whatsoever - have changed the sim card and monthly calls to the call centre- oops, its that time if the month when I call the centre, am promised a call back, or contact your local office. Spending $30 month for nothing. My mobile phone will not even work inside the shopping centre- nothing wrong with the phone as I can put a telstra or optus card in and reception is fine. The whole service a joke(on us- the consumer who willingly pays good money to receive ?????? - Happy to take our money every month) May2011 cannot come soon enough when I can get off my phone plan and Sept 2011 for mu mobile plan. Vodafail prepaid 3G USB modem only gave reasonable connection speed once while I was visiting relatives in Attadale, at that was at 2:30 in the morning. Otherwise, it was no better than dial-up, glad I had 3G iPad with Telstra while away from home in Melbourne. Service was pathetic in every part of Perth/Fremantle that I visited.
Connection speeds were very good in Collie and OK in Margaret River, nothing at all in Walpole, a partial connection in Denmark.

My reception cuts in and out both at my work place and at home. Both places of which are located in the north and south side of Canberra. Phonecalls are always a challenge and my voice-mail messages take days to come to my visual voice-mail. Not to mention text and mms messages. I get them (MMS) at least 8-9 hours minimum after a friend tells me they have texted one. Its so pathetic and disappointing, I'm glad this website exists. What's more, how about Vodafone actually upgrades their towers like they always say over the phone?? How about they take some of their sponsorship dollars away from things like the cricket and focus more on their service.
4510 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DISGUSTING at 27 Dec 2010 06:19:17 PM
I signed a 1 year contract in September this year. Ever since I had dropped calls, no reception, lost customers. They kept telling me they would have to check the reception with their own tests, then they said it was the sim card, they replaced the sim card, IT SEEMED WITH EVERY CALL THERE WAS A DIFFRENT EXCUSE AND A NEW DELAYING TACTIC, EVENTUALLY after many hours on hold and many calls and threats to take them to Consumer Affairs for false advertising (telling me I would have reception in my area) and charge them for my lost business, they AGREED to let me out of my contract at no charge. They gave me a cancellation number and I went straight away to Optus, I haven't had a problem since, EXCEPT I am still waiting for the return bag to send their phone back!! I have phoned again 3 times. So the saga isn't finished yet....

I live only 10kms from Melbourne CBD, and I don't think it is should be too much to ask that my mobile broadband stays connected for more than 15 minutes without dropping out, and that it works at a reasonable speed. I admit they did suck me into their cheap prices and false promises. Never again! As they say, fool me once.....
Shame on you Vodafone!

I have hardly any reception and calls keep dropping out if i can even get through. I also have found that i can ring a number and it rings engaged and if i ring the number on my landline i can get through. We changed three services from telstra to vodaphone on the pretext that the coverage was fantastic and we hardly have any reception and cant even call vodaphone to vodaphone (Mum to kids).
4507 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is total shit!! at 27 Dec 2010 06:18:32 PM
i was a 3 customer and NEVER had trouble with them! i didn't ask to switch to vodafone so why should i be stuck with their crap service. i live 40 mins from brisbane cbd and i work in the city yet i had NO coverage for 4 days in either area from the 17th to the 21st!!!! i did however have dozens and dozens of missed txts and calls from friends, work colleagues and my boss! some of them thought i was bullshitting and i was almost as popular as vodafone! since vodafone took over my bill has gone through the roof and when i went in store for some advice i got told to go to allphones...it took 2 days for the more than helpful allphone staff to help me as the vodaphone network was down and they couldn't access it! its quite fitting really that vodafone sponsers the aussie cricket team they're just as shit!!!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been trying to call the 1555 number to no avail. 'Lara' keeps telling me she'll be with me in a moment that never arrives even after 25 minutes.
I am currently paying $129 a month to yourselves for calls, sms's and surfing the web. Neither of which works adequately as the coverage is intermittent at home (st leonards) and work (Sydney CBD). Calls drop out, SMS's never arrive or arrive late or in the wrong order and the 3G is either slow or unavailable.
Please advise why should I keep paying $129 a month for poor technology and customer service?
Name and mobile number below. Been a voda customer for over 5 years now.

4502 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgusted at 27 Dec 2010 06:17:09 PM
I've been with vodafone for over two years with both a mobile and usb modem contract. My bills have never been over the prescribed amount until about May of 2010. After May 2010, my usb modem bills went from $39 each month to $200+...
including one bill which hit $1,000. After repeated phone calls to them about the problem where I was put on hold for 45+ minutes each call, including one where I was on the phone for more than 3 hours and then told that the section I need was now closed, I asked for them to cancel my contracts.
They told me they could wipe the $1,000 bill in its entirity as long as I stayed with vodafone. I told them that was black mail considering it was a mistake there end to begin with.
They offered me higher data plans, none of which offers have actually been followed through.
I have since managed to have my phone contract cancelled, but each time I ring to get my usb modem cancelled there is always some reason why they can't do it.
My mobile phone was dropping out mid calls and making really strange noises.
My internet service is very poor. I get approximately 5 - 15 minutes before I have restart it. Very frustrating.
Totally over vodafail.

The drop out of calls has reduced significantly but still frustratingly occurs from time to time.
My major annoyance with Vodafone is my 3G network and data coverage. I more often than not receive the Edge network or a constant switch of one bar on 3g straight down to the Edge network. What is the point of paying for something that I hardly receive.
The constant drop out to No Service and the need to switch off my phone is something no customer should be paying for, afterall I must be missing out on calls while my phone is searching for coverage.

I've had a great time with Vodafone UK for many years. I also found Vodacom in South Africa great service. SO I chose Vodafone for Australia.
I noticed the reception was always worse than the other networks. 5 years ago suddenly on my bill several SMS and MMS messages appeared that I was billed for 4-5 times repeatedly even though I only sent them once. Instead of a usual bill of $30.00 my bill was $150.00. Despite several attempts to resolve this issue no effort was made to return the money. Needless to say I ceased my association then.
1 year ago a friend of mine from Wales (UK) was living in Cairns, and was on Vodafone. He was perpetually uncontactable due to being out of range. Even at Tourist attractions such as Cervantes there was no reception at all.
No, no more Vodafone Australia for me...

We have a twelve month pre paid 20 gig internet connection with Crazy John's. (alias vodaphone). Drops out at will, difficult to connect, very slow during normal hours, sometimes soooo slow its not worth the wait. Constant calls to India have not improved the system at all but we are still being told all is OK at their end. They continue to send us through the usual test sequences time and time again. Hours lost on the phone and without internet. They refuse to send a representative to us so they really see what we go through all the time. Local Crazy John salesman suggested we write to the ombudsman as there was nothing he could do without India giving the ok.

It started a month ago, I'm having poor poor reception (yes until now) around Cannington area (in Perth) that I live in.
3G network doesn't work, and I have to switch my phone off and on every time i want to send a text message. Incoming calls or texts are also a huge problem.
I know it's not my phone acting up because if I'm a suburb away, I'll get full reception.
I'm thinking of changing to Optus!

4489 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unbelievable at 27 Dec 2010 06:14:46 PM
I have been a Vodafone customer for over 10yrs and have never experienced such apauling service like this from them.
After finally getting through to someone in the network technician area, the standard trouble shooting they always do for initial network issues was presented to me (things I have already done a few times myself a few times with no success).
Like:
for iphone4 - turn wifi off (as it supposedly interferes with settings on the phone with the network... what a joke if their networkrk is that sensitive with a product and features they strongly promot for sale.
- So into settings, general and select reset and pick network to reset the network. If this doesn't work then try resetting to factory settings (which they assure won't delete any data on your phone).
- The 1st level tech also suggested I contact Apple to see if their booster cover is still available FREE if not try and get it as it's suppose to boost network signal... if this is well known, why doesn't it get supplied with the product in the first place, especially if it is a known issue with the product? Couldn't answer that one.
- if none of that works then call them back and they will escalate the logged issue to the next level of tech support... great... another 2-3 hr call wait before talking to someone.
The other phone having exactly the same problem but is a Nokia... do the following:
- take battery out, whipe the sim contacts with a soft cloth and put back together
- set the nokia network settings to manual mode and manually select vodafone au
No call me lame or a bit slow, but if two different phones are having the exact same network issues no matter where they are used (eg, home network area, city metro areas etc), wouldn't you think that it is automatically something more than just a basic handset or sim issue? I mean I am no telco teckie but I have some common sense and the above just seems a waste of time to me, and a way to fob the consumer off again without any real satisfaction of restored service or compensation for the lack of!
Needless to say none of this worked for me.... Who'd have thought!

i live in surry hills where reception is ok. On my train to work (taking into consideration tunnels) from central to epping via newcastle line i get ZERO 3g. I get 1 bar of REGULAR reception (2g) at my desk IF I'M LUCKY. I pay $130 on my cap for 1k calls 500mb per month which is fine IF I HAD A SERVICE GOOD ENOUGH TO USE EVEN HALF OF THAT QUOTA. I use my phone for work, so have had to buy a PREPAID TELSTRA phone to use while i'm at my desk. Works better in more places take it from me. The real insult was when i finally got on the phone to someone in bangalore, i was told they wouldn't release me from my contract, and that i'd need to have a technician come out and survey the area to confirm the condition. Great i thought, that's a nice offer. Thank you i'll take it "the wait is 4 months" *CLICK* GGF Vodafone, your service is garbage, as is your customer service. I speak to your employees and even they agree with me your service is garbage. After speaking to some folks from VF at a company even, i've been told a $400m infrastructure investment is going to alleviate the problem - but even that's a further 6 months down the track. DONT HAVE TIME FOR THAT. OVER IT VODAFONE. Your poor service and lack of commitment to even those who pay rediculous money on your FLAGSHIP CONSUMER SERVICE is the last staw for me. I'm in contact with the TIO, telstra here i come. Welcome me with open arms.

Vodafone are restricting calls AND texts from users of other networks. My own mother cannot contact me, save for my home number.
I also have experienced slow data transfer rates and delayed voicemails. This is coupled with the poor performance of the iPhone 4 (I'm currently on my SECOND) which they did knew of but didn't pass this info onto me before purchase.

To find out after hearing complaints from friends regarding the same issues.
As a long term customer of Vodaphone I find this service is no longer what it used to be and needs to be rectfied before more people move on elsewhere.

I am a pre-paid customer and everytime I run out of credit, if I am not aware of it and I send a message, Vodafone send me a message saying INSUFFICIENT FUND...once is ok.. twice..yeah alright..BUT NOT 189 times. they tried saying it was my phone so i bought a new one. than it kept happening, then they said it was a setting in my phone where the message will store itself and keep trying to send..BUT that was not correct either. I have called them that many times. ONCE i was given 20 free text messages. all other times I have been called a liar. I have spent hours and hours on the phone to them trying to get my account sorted... NOW I used to work for a compant that sold VODAFONE contracts so I know a FAIR bit about their systems and their contracts and they are FLAWED FLAWED FLAWED and believe that the customer is there to rip you off so you must be on to it ang give them nothing but jargon their policys and what not... Trying to cancel a years internt contract so that it does not roll onto a month by month basis. Impossible, after trying to get through I got disconnected (several times), then I have mailed them on 3 occasions, first I got a reply back stating "sorry we have not had a chance to look at your issue, please bear with us for another 48 hours", well that was 4 weeks ago now, since then I have been into their store and been told that I need to phone their customer service line because there is nothing they can do, even though they were speaking to a vodafone representative on at the other end, no apprently ring them a few days before the contract is up and they should be able to cancel it, and then I would only be charged pro rata !!!!!
I am disgusted, and will also be cancelling (if I can) my mobile contract when it is up for renewal shortly.
Vodafone should try a page out of Crazy John's book, their customer service is not only exsisting but absolutely brillian and most def a can do attitude.

I have tried many times to update my card details. The automated system just boots me off after presenting me with no useful options saying "sorry I can't understand you, you'll have to call back." At least some automated systems connect you to an operator if there is an issue. To just disconnect your customers is pathetic customer service. I have also tried waiting in the queue but so far haven't been able to get through to a human being.
4478 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 06:13:48 PM
We are very disgruntled and unsatisfied customers and we have been ever since signing a contract with vodafone 18months ago. Our bills are increasing each month due to the call drop outs before the call even takes place, yet we are charged 68c for the dropped out call. When people call either of our numbers they can never get through as their is no service and we receive our missed call notification all hours of the morning. I did not sign up for this lack of service or reception. We can easily get better service, reception, phones via other telcos. We recently rang vodafone to the complaints department and got hung up on 6 times when the call was finally answered after a 20minute wait each time. the call back service was just as bad because when we answered the call also dropped out. This is not good enough. We want to cancel our contract so we can get a provider that actually gives back service and it's going to cost us $280 each person to leave the contract or $280 to upgrade. WE will not be continuing our contract with vodafone again and would not recommend your service provider to any family or friends. Very very disappointing. They are they worst provider we have ever signed up with.

Been with Voda since moving to WA in aug 2007 - all has been reasonably ok until a few months ago - despite not moving I suddenly struggle for service at home (Tapping, WA) - service continually drops out and text messaging a nightmare - big problems sending and even bigger problems receiving - I have to continually try and send myself a message to force text messages thru to myself - I will then receive 4 or 5 at once which have been sent hours before. Voicemail also has big delays. I am sick to the back teeth with it and trying to speak to someone at Voda to deal with it is a nightmare in itself - sometimes waiting over an hour to speak with someone who can hardly speak English and then cut u off when the going gets tough. I'm so over it. Just let me out of my contract as u suck vodafone!!

I bought Vodafone mobile broadband a few months ago after checking on the web for coverage, It showed as excellant coverage in my area, even asking the staff instore and they said the same thing, as soon as I got it home it wouldnt work properly, it drops out or just hangs, and the times when it does want to work, if I try leaning forward to type it will cut out on me. After weeks of calling some call centre where I cant even understand what they are trying to say, I got the gist from them that Im in a bad area. My husband is on 3 network and works perfectly. 4469 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Painful at 27 Dec 2010 06:10:46 PM
Vodafone got me on a plan with a $10 discount for the first 3 months.
The discount didn't turn up until I was on the plan 5 months and only after I repeatedly complained... Inevitably to someone in Ukraine or the Philippines. Also why can't they keep up with my billing when I dial 1512? They just charge more after I make calls I wouldn't have otherwise made.
Why don't they make clear that calls to 13 numbers are per minute???
LIFT YOUR GAME! Just because you're competing with Telstra doesn't mean you have to try to be as crap as they are!

We have been trying to get what you would call reasonable service for over 3 years. We have complained to the local supplier and have just been fobbed off. Any complaints to Vodafone have never been answered. We get one bar of service on a good day and down load speed of 10kbps is amazing if we can get it. All we have ever heard is "We are improving our service".Unfortunately no other provider is willing to say that they can provide a service to us even Telstra.

Dear vodafone,
I want to break up with you.
It's not me.....it's you!
I know I'll probably never find anyone who will love me the way that you do....
But that is exactly the point.
Get out of my life and give me my money back.....NOW!

I always have one or two bars of reception, i have never had full reception ever since joining on vodafone a few months ago. my phone calls drop out constantly. i have tried contacting them through their customer service line, had no luck, they told me they could not access my information (billing) untill a certain date, they then promised they would call me on a specific date and time. That day i checked on 'My Vodafone' and I found out i could access the information that they claimed they could not get. On top of that they never called back on the day and time they said they would. On top of all that mess, when i got my phone bill the next month, they told me i owed $165 that is overdue, for some unknown reason, since i am on a $79 UNLIMITED plan. When i called to ask where this $165 fee came from, they could not explain it and told me they had to speak to their manager and they would call me back. It has been 2 weeks since that happened and they still have not called me back. Not happy at all, If i knew this was the service you get with Vodafone i would of gone with another company.
27 Dec 2010 10:12:35 PM: Try going into a store. Generally speaking, the staff there can actually convey your bill to you in english.
4465 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Complete and utter failure at 27 Dec 2010 06:10:11 PM
I run a business and we have 16 mobiles in a group plan with vodafone. I have never before experienced service such as this. We are in a technologically advanced country and the service provided by Vodafone is third world standard. In-fact I have no doubt I could get better service in Africa than the rubbish dished out by Vodafone.
Constant drop outs, terrible (close to zero) data coverage and not to forget the loss of business my company has suffered. I recently had an operation and was resting at home for 2 weeks. I had absolutely NO internet access through my Vodafone data card OR my phone simply to read my emails. What a disgusting service. The best thing is, their response was "we dont guarantee 100% coverage". What a SHAM. How about ZERO coverage !
They should be absolutely disgusted with themselves and the shonky service they provide.

This company is the worst Telco I encountered in the 40 years of my life!!! I actually thought Hutchison 3 is the worst but no - Vodafail took this notoriety from them.
About a month ago at the advise of a 3 customer support agent, I moved my 4 postpaid accounts to VF. I agreed since the 3 reception from where I live has gone from bad to worse! There is practically no signal in most areas in our house. Probably the biggest mistake of my life:
- Hours waiting to be answered by a CSR
- Unbelievably high call volumes even early in the morning and at midnight!!!
- Call dropping out (or intentionally being dropped off) a second after you hear a CSR's voice
- Being transferred to the wrong group although you clearly explained who you wanted to talk to
- Arrogant CSRs (I understand why this is so)
- 12 month half price not being honoured as reflected in my first bill
- Being neglected by AU staff regarding my phone orders. They won't action on any of you requests unless you call them daily and get mad at them over the phone for their failures.
- Not able to make calls or even send SMSes to family members who are all with VF. This is the most unacceptable thing for me. The 2 most basic functions you want on a mobile phone and you can't even use them.

i changed from 3 to Vodafone because the guy in the shop showed me the coverage for my area and it "was the best available anywhere" ... swapped the 2 teenagers and my service over. I was told to just ring vodafone to unlock the 2 x 3 phones... easy!
dropped sim off to cross teenager... tried to ring and unlock phones... 30 minutes and 3 calls later... and I was still talking to a robot who kept hanging up on me... I get home to my house - no service whatsoever! like NONE! had to drive 3 minutes down the road to get any service :( hopeless!
went back to the vodafone shop in the morning... um sorry but we cant change you back the same way... the shop sent an email to customer service and needed to wait for them to do something!!!! how cross was I? 2 days before christmas... not able to have our own numbers, not able to have 3 service... unbelievable... surely swapping from 1 to the other should be just as easy.... luckily wonderful shop assistant managed to fix problem.. her regional manager was there and they had to delete my service ... give me usim's and change numbers over...

My friend and I are both with Vodafone, same handset E71 Nokia, and the problem we have encountered is that on several occasions either one of us has sent the other a text and there has been a delay of anything from 1hr to 5-6hrs from sending to receiving. When I called and asked the questions they told me that they never heard of this problem. I only have problems with Vodafone to Vodafone
4458 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodacrap TOTAL failure at 27 Dec 2010 06:09:00 PM
Vodacrap ripped me off - what more do I need to say? Promised a service they can't deliver. They cost me lot more than money too, they cost me a job. Dishonesty is the standard business paradigm for Australia but Vodacrap have taken dishonesty to a whole new level. We are lucky Vodacrap don't own a bank.

Thanks VodaFail.
4456 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very at 27 Dec 2010 06:08:47 PM
Very bad, to no coverage on the south coast, NSW Mollymook area. I had (quit contract $$$) to stand in a certain area of my house to receive calls, and texts took up to 4 hours to arrive. Bad for my business. When they quoted $450 to exit my contract, I accepted, however the bill came and it was over $500 due to added GST which is illegal to do. I have not paid, and requested some one to contact me, which I am still waiting.
4455 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely at 27 Dec 2010 06:08:16 PM
Almost with out fail, every time I answer my phone, no one is there, I constantly have to ring people back because of this, and half the time that never connects either. I send texts that some people never receive, or they get days late. One extreme, my husband tried ringing me one day, as my phone went to go to voicemail, some how, an Asian man asnwered?! How the heck does that happen? Rang vodafone to ask how something like that could happen, I was on the phone for over 2 hours, and got no help whatsoever! I thought I was the only one having these issues, I am just so sick of them! :(
29 Dec 2010 11:51:21 AM: Maybe you are IMAGINING the phone ringing? Maybe you need a head shrinker? And maybe you THINK you are sending the text but not really? Is it possible the day your husband rang he got your Asian lover instead who was answering the phone while you were in the middle of getting some DP action? How can Vodafone help if your lover answers the fone when your husband is calling?

I have both a mobile phone and internet for my computer neither was working for 2 weeks. I could occasional send txts but they would get there like 3hours later if at all. I couldnt call or recieve calls, so I couldnt call 000 or call customer care. I couldnt go on the web to email complaints or find out what was happening. I couldnt recieve calls for shifts for work so I lost money, I couldnt take my phone order for my cupcake business or check my emails for orders. I had to go to my parents house use there phone and internet. Wait on line for 1hr 10mins to be told that there is nothing they can do.

4449 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Disappointing at 27 Dec 2010 06:07:20 PM
I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for 8yrs, but this is just shocking. On one day I was on the phone to "customer service" 3 times... first I got cut off after being on hold for 20mins (Angry? You bet!). Then I rang back and this time got the option for the callback... 2hrs later my phone rings. The chick in "customer service"was less than helpful, didnt help that their system was down also. What a joke... They tell me to call them back (What!?) so I do, tell them my problems (mainly not sending/receiving sms) and they go on to blame my sim card for all my service dropouts/delays. Pfft. Not likely chump. I gave examples of a friend and partner as they are having the same problems. She suggests their sims are dodgy.
too. Are you for real?! So then I get forwarded onto "tech support". Why? Beats me! Surprise surprise they can't tell me anything. Then I get hung up on.... pissed? Of course. But, lucky for them they rang back. So I go get a new sim... has it fixed anything? What do you think? Of course not. I totally can't be bothered calling up again to sit on hold, only to talk to Some useless person in "customer service", with a shocking delay in response (you can't make me believe they are in Aust!). I'm over it, and lucky for me my plan runs out in Feb!

I had the misfortune to have a Vodaphone wireless internet connection for 3 months. It was extremely rare for me to be able to get online and when i did i dropped out every 2 - 3 minutes. It was difficult to get to talk to anyone and all they ever did was try to fob me off. In the end i broke contract and went Telstra.

I have tried calling Vodaphone for 3months to get my credit card registered on my new number. I cannot get in contact with anyone in customer care ever. I have tried to go into a Vodaphone shop they cannot help me, they tell me to call Vodaphone. Vodaphone will place me on hold for hours at a time only to be hung up on when I am supposed to be advancing in the Que. The vodaphone reception is terrible and the money we pay for the plans are not worth it.

My MMS service isn't working too.
I called vodafone and after at least one hour on the phone the Vodafone customer service person had no idea how to fix it.. The service from this customer service person was hopeless as he was speaking in his own language to another customer service person beside him while i was trying to hear what he was doing to fix my problem and had me on hold for long periods.
I really wasn't happy with the service provided by the customer service person..
Looks like a bad overseas organisation that Vodafone has given the customer service too!!
