Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

19343 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Harrassed by NRG Solutions at 2 Sep 2011 01:03:37 PM
I have posted here earlier in the year. I managed through the help of the TIO managed to get my contract ripped up because of poor connection performance and poor mapping of coverage. I was very thankful to vodafone for doing this for me. I live in a regional area and Telstra, as much as I dislike them too, have much stronger coverage meaning I don't have to stand out in the street.
Vodafone said they would waive all charges. BUT lo and behold if I've not been called four times in the past six months by NRG solutions demanding full payment of my outstanding $1100 bill. Each time I have contacted Vodafone and been assurred not to worry about it. The debt has been waived. But today I was called again by NRG Solutions and asked how I will be paying my $1100 bill. I told her slightly impatiently this time there's no way we're having this conversation again. After explaining to her (for how many times now) the situation and how the debt had been waived, she finished by saying, 'you need to call Vodafone and then email us'. Previously the woman had the gall to ask for a deposit on the debt. Give me strength!!!
I called Vodafone, they said 'next time these debt collectors call you, tell them to call us'. Surely now I'm not the only one here who thinks that these companies should be calling each other? I mean are we led to believe that I have to do their work for them?
Alas, I've emailed NRG solutions telling them again to contact Vodafone. I have told them if they call me again, I'm considering legal action. This is getting stupid.
I'm not sure if this technically VODAFAIL...but it's damn close to something 'failing'.

19342 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SMS Reply to Customer Survey at 2 Sep 2011 11:58:22 AM
I called Vodafone Support yesterday to report the issue with failed SMS sending and network dropouts. They gave me 25% disc for 3 mths instead. Then today,I received a Customer Survey SMS from Vodafone. My phone then has a network dropout and I am not able to send my reply as SMS delivery is now failing. I'm taking a picture of this for prosperity. :)
19341 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 2 Sep 2011 10:35:04 AM
Live and work in Sydney metro and call drop outs occur daily on the Vodafone network! Very frustrating indeed. This cannot be tolerated in the 21st century!

19340 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is fail beyond salvation at 2 Sep 2011 01:31:01 AM
Being a (former) customer service rep for vodafail , i apologise for instances when was unable to help customers, human beings like me who had families and trying to make ends meet... My hands were tied. Add to that the frustration of being forced to do intermittent 6-day week or an extra hour of overtime (@$3AUD/hr) at extremely short notice.
19339 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Alarmingly, unbelievably failed me never to be never trusted again! at 2 Sep 2011 12:54:49 AM
I mean F*ck Nigel! I haven't even written a letter to you yet but already your statements from previous dissatisfied customers piss me off. I'm new to your country from Canada, and I must say I heard a lot better things from my mates about your company than I seen first hand! What gives?!
I signed up to a new phone from some asshole who kept calling me when I had prepaid cards, now my third $29 cap plan, which I hardly use just billed me for $220 of data plan that I didn't even use. In turn I tried to speak with customer service to discuss these charges and was forced to speak with two Vodafone representatives, either spoke english well enough to understand that Vodafone was in the wrong for these charges! They said the best they could do was give me $40 credit on my next bill. Not good enough!! The first rep said they were a customer service supervisor, the second apparently was a account manager supervisor. On principal alone I will cancel my contract and go elsewhere if my $220 bill is not reversed. They have since put me on a 72 hour wait for a customer service representative with more authority (hopefully speaks english) to respond, probably while I'm eating dinner again. I hope Vodafone makes the correct decision during the next phone discussion. Oh, the first calls were recorded for training purposes, which I didn't fully understand. I would love to hear that conversation again , you would hear me repeatedly stating I can not understand what information you are trying to give me. What a laugh!

19338 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely Fail at 1 Sep 2011 08:46:13 PM
I can't make phone calls, because there is no service!!! I have been trying to make a phone call for the past hour and it is not connecting. It really isn't worth the discount that vodafone gives its customer. I have been struggling to make calls all day, my phone keeps cutting out when i finally get through. I believe that Vodafone is not upholding their end of my contract agreement therefore, making it invalid. They have not provided me a service, so i really shouldn't pay a cent!!!
2 Sep 2011 12:51:46 PM: good luck

19335 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is 5114 at 1 Sep 2011 06:35:23 PM
5114 . Poor reception, drops off in Craigmore, One Tree Hill, and Uleybury. Due to bad signal, battery is lost rapidly trying to connect to cell. Delayed Voicemail and text messages.
19334 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Never received a 'fone' but now been black listed... yay! at 1 Sep 2011 04:27:19 PM
Thanks to Vodafone I now been given bad credit rating on VEDA for the first time in my life for a phone that I have NEVER received despite calling Vodafone many times and providing proof that I don't have a phone from them and getting reference numbers from Vodafone they still have the balls to hand me over to collections, this is such a hassle!! This has been going on since JANUARY!! Not happy!! Enough is Enough!!!
The story is: I received a call from a Vodafone girl early Jan 2011 to get me to switch from 3 to them for "better coverage" to which I initially agreed but then changed my mind within 24 hours after speaking to several people that Vodafone is actually worse than 3. The girl then sent me a SMS to say not to accept it when the Parcel gets delivered and send the person with the phone back, which I did. Other than that text I have no proof except... They don't have my signature to say that I have received it. This critical information seems to be falling on deaf ears! I received the first bill in February, called them immediately explained the story and have been calling them every month since then (got reference numbers and all). All I get is they will get back to me but never do and they can't seem to see a record of my calls... strange?? Today I received a letter from their collection agency and it states that my name is now black listed on Veda Advantage and I better pay up or they will come and break my kneecaps (chuckle). I have called them up too but... don't hold your breath to action.

1 Sep 2011 10:12:48 PM: If Vodafone isn't willing to sort out the problem for you then it's best to contact the TIO. You can dispute the amount of money Vodafone is charging you or let them know about what they have done to your credit rating. They will then have Vodafone call you and you'll find they are much more willing to help after a complaint to the TIO.

5 Sep 2011 02:05:19 PM: Thanks for your advice above, I have just come off the phone with Vodafone after 1.5 hours and 4 different people and after making it very clear to the last person after being given the usual run around with her too that I will take this to TIO and Today Tonight after I come off this phonecall if it does not get resolved to my satisfaction. (Its a shame that we have to threaten before any action). She has promised me that my name will be cleared and the full amount reversed in 3 - 4 business days. Well I can only wait and see. I will be back here if that has not happened. Thanks for your support, its easier when you know you're not alone :)
10 Sep 2011 10:10:28 PM: Update: I ended up filling in a form via the TIO online and someone from Vodafone called me back the very next day, confirmed that this should not have gone on for so long nor should it have happened in the first instance. I have received an email from the Vodafone representative which states that the whole amount is no longer outstanding and that my credit rating will be restored in full.
19333 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Catch-22 at 1 Sep 2011 02:17:38 PM
I've been offwork due to illness for several months and as such I haven't had all my bills paid on time. I got an sms and a phone call from vodafone the other day explaining that my bill was overdue and the SMS asked:
"please pay $x immediately by dialling 1527 from your mobile"
whilst the phonecall had asked me to call the same number from my handset if I was unable to pay. Either way, I try to let people know if I'm late for a bill what the situation is and that I plan on paying as soon as possible (I've paid it just now).
However, when I tried to call the number from my handset I was informed that I had call barring in place, which is of course something I was already aware of and considering I'd just been contacted in two different ways asking me to call that number from my handset, I didn't think would actually be an issue.
My illness has made it hard for me to deal with the problems I've had with vodafone, so I've mostly just acceppted it for now with every plan on changing provider when my contract is up. The fact that I tried to contact them the way they asked me to, and they give no other contact options in case they have infact barred you from making calls, has really demonstrated how fractured the administration of their service is, not just how badly they've managed their network.
On the topic of making payments, why does it take 24 hours for payments made via CC on their website to be applied to your account?

1 Sep 2011 04:16:53 PM: who doesn't? it's pitting one beast against another. if you do wish to take action beyond posting on this site, you could try TT as it is pitting one unsavory beast against another. try writing to your minister for a more civilised, albeit ineffective, alternative. as a third alternative, you could do nothing and continue to let yourself be ripped off by this mob and their caper. it's completely up to you - I'm just throwing suggestions out there. In any case I do hope u get better soon =)
1 Sep 2011 06:10:37 PM: Or as this site suggests I can contact vodafone to make a complaint to them. If I'm looking for restitution, and Vodafone don't help me, I can also contact the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

1 Sep 2011 06:23:09 PM: i'm not from TT. i was ripped off by vodafone in december last year....... and I haven't forgotten ;)
I complained to: vodafone. this website. the tio. the accc. ...... nothing was done.
i don't wanna see it happen to others.
if you don't want to take your grievances further, then don't - simple. i'm simply pointing out that there are more options available to you - this wasn't appearant to me until severl months into my problems with VF - don't wanna see anyone else in the same pickle! don't shoot the messenger bro! ;)but perhaps if they screw you again in the future (which I guarantee they will), don't come crying here. others have done their bit: 23,000 signed up in a class action. so far you've had a good whinge but haven't done jack to stop it happening in the future ;)
PS i'm insulted you thought i was from TT. do i really sound so thick? :)

1 Sep 2011 06:31:47 PM: The point of this site is to document the lousy job Vodafone are doing. Just because I don't necessarily want to take this particular instance further doesn't mean I shouldn't mention it on here, or that I shouldn't "come crying here" if it doesn't happen again.
Signing up for a class action isn't doing your bit, and you've got no idea whether or not I have signed up to it.
All you know at this point is that I have no interest in reporting it to TT. To be honest, if I thought that it was worth it, and wanted to, I'd report it to ACA before I even considered TT. ACA aren't a whole lot better, but better nonetheless.
I've had a lot of practice with dealing with issues with Telecommunications companies, both for myself and helping other friends through the process, so I hardly think, on your limited knowledge, you're in any place to say I haven't done jack to stop it in the future.
And yes, you do still come across as someone from TT

1 Sep 2011 06:32:58 PM: That first paragraph should end "if it happens again."
1 Sep 2011 09:42:09 PM: with all respect voda have 7 million customers - helping yourself and "other friends" is definitely a step in the right direction but isn't going to do all that much,in fact, its impact is minimal.
as you say you can go to the TIO. watch out, they'll fine Vodafone $30. yes, $30. pocket money. you think they care about you and your friends complaining to the TIO? ans: they don't care about you. or your friends.
you're probably better off going for a "game changer" .... like regulation which could change the way telcos are punished for poor performance and false advertising claims so as to affect their bottom line (i.e. profit - not just reputation). this can be achieved if it has the political drive, and that'll only happen with public support. Public support is achieved through media coverage, raising awareness, etc.
..but of course you can just keep quite about it.

1 Sep 2011 10:11:06 PM: I think it's best to raise the issue directly with Vodafone via their customer support line as some people have suggested. If that does not work (or they don't sort it out properly) then please do contact the TIO. Although the fine for Vodafone might start off small it increases to well over $1000 if Vodafone doesn't solve the problem.
An official complaint to the TIO will generally be all you need to get the problem solved.

2 Sep 2011 12:35:53 AM: iagree that the TIO does eventually resolve the issues, whether that be by letting the customer out or whatever. but the point is vodafone would have already sucked $$$$ from the customer. if you do the math $$$$ - $30 = profit. so Vodafone still end up in front - what disincentive is there for them to ever stop their behaviour? none (ok. $30, and up to over a thousand dollars, but if you look at how many reach over $1000 its extremely few). their reputation gets a beating but they obviously don't care, and can still market their products aggressively (bad press hasn't stopped old Clarkie jumping back into their commercials) and get heaps of sales. Vodafone sales reps still say they're signing up 70-100 people per month which is just as many as they were pre-vodafail. it shits me royally.

iPhone 4 - has been replaced once - Vodafail have told me that the phone and sim work fine, yet I constantly drop calls and when travelling overseas, the sim refused to work altogether.
This turned out to be a blessing because I discovered that all English, Russian and Italian sim cards worked FINE in the iPhone - so when I came back I told them to get stuffed and am planning to swap this week.

I signed up to a Vodafail Infinite $45 plan in March, with the expectation that I'd be able to cancel my Telstra landline as I'd no longer need it. How wrong I was. I'm now locked in to a 24 month contract with a phone I can't even use as I intended- to make ALL my calls on. Constant drop-outs, disconnection, "network busy" messages, SMS that take me up to 10 attempts to get through...it will often say "message fail". I'm a single mum of 3 trying to make ends meet, studying full time, on minimal income. I can't afford to sign up to another telco whilst still paying for this contract, nor can I afford to pay out this contract. I contacted them on 1555 and was told that coverage was supposedly high in my area. Was told they'd look into it. Nobody contacted me back to let me know what the outcome was. I've sent them an email, and if they don;t respond promptly, I will be contacting the TIO and will attempt to be released from my contract. Hopefully the end result is positive...however, based on my countless experiences of people on here, the odds are stacked against me :-(

1 Sep 2011 12:49:18 PM: I signed up to the same contract being told there is reception at my house. I don't have reception, I don't get call backs from operators regarding the matter, I can't send a sms, I can't use the net at home, I've had to empty out my bank account because of what I herd about previous incidents with Vodafone's 'secure' customer details storage being accessable world wide. This is simply terrible.

15 Sep 2011 12:34:25 PM: Well guess what? It worked! Vodafail released me from the remianing 18 months of my contract as of yesterday, with NO EXIT FEES and I am free to port my number back to Optus, woo hoo! Consumer power wins the day! thank you Vodafail, coming here really pushed me to fight for this, and I won! I should add that it pays to be polite, and to intelligently outline your complaint and the resolution you are seeking (in my case, rescinding of my contract without penalty) I also mentioned in my complaint that i feel that Vodaphone misrepresented themselves when i signed up, because if they'd been honest about the poor coverage i would never have signed the dotted line. That seemed to be the key to my success I believe. Going off at them will guarantee that you achieve little if any of your aims. they are now sending me a reply-paid bag to return my phone in, and I'm off to sign up with optus and get my free Samsung galaxy II! Thanks again guys!

Tried to unlock an old phone from 3 mobile, i rang customer service to get the code. Rather then just pressing all the options, i kept pressing the # key and i went straight to a operator, he had such a temper, i couldnt believe it. Im paying for his shit curry dinner he has every night and the way in which he talks to me is a joke.
Anyway, i didnt get the code as "he didnt have the authority to give it to me"
i asked to talk to the person with authority, he said there is no person here to help you, go to the 3mobile website and look at how to unlock the phone. (its just a pdf saying how to enter a code and press enter) how stupid do they think we are, seriously!!
i have 2 vodafone, and a 3 mobile, phone in my room which require a code to unlock and i cant get it.

i asked to talk to the person with authority, he said there is no person here to help you, go to the 3mobile website and look at how to unlock the phone. (its just a pdf saying how to enter a code and press enter) how stupid do they think we are, seriously!!

Calls constantly drop out, if they connect. I'm so frustrated as I NEED this phone for business. Sometimes I can hear them but they can't hear me, other times it doesn't even connect. Apparently it is my SIM card (or perhaps it was a flying pig that disrupted the signal). The most appalling network ever! Ombudsman here I come.

Offered me a change of plan, the little indian bastard then said that by doing htis as I had an unsual spend on the interenet that it would wipe the slate clean with that bill. After re-itterating 5 times that my bill would be normal if i swap over which was answered yes, then recieve a bill for 690 dollarsm i then call the office and they basically tell me I am lying and in no way are going to help.
1 Sep 2011 12:04:10 PM: Definitely contact the TIO, I had the same thing happen with Telstra a few years ago. As soon as Telstra was contacted by the TIO, they wiped my bill for me. When the TIO gets involved, the complaint is immediately escalated to way higher up, it goes to the telco headquarters. I was contacted by someone from Telstra immediately after they were contacted by the TIO. Apparently, it costs the telco's quite a bit to have the TIO escalate an unresolved complaint (at least a few thousand dollars) so it is generally in their best interests to just wipe the slate and give you what you want.
Good luck with it, I am going through my own bullshit with Vodafail, so I feel your pain!

19307 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgusting at 31 Aug 2011 10:19:28 AM
I have been overseas and disabled my iPhone's 3G and Internet Capabilities altogether. 7th day into my 9 day holiday I get a message in a nutshell saying the following "You have $350.00 outstanding from your account" - I call vodafone straight away. They tell me that it may be a phone or a billing issue due to data usage (excessive), they need to investigate it. They promised to call me back. I arrive in Sydney, and the next day my phone gets barred and I can not call my employer and tell him that I have been delayed for work. We lost $4000 that morning. It gets better. I call vodafone that night and they tell me that they can not do anything until their team in sydney starts work at 8am. I call again at 8.30am. Have to explain my story all over again, then get redirected to their sydney team to get an error "Sorry we operate 9am-8pm" instead of going back to the guy who I just spoke to it hang up. I called again at 9.30 5 times until I finally got through (My phone dropped connectivity because of the infamous vodafone "service"). Then the guy tells me the following, my iPhone accumulated $390 worth of data roaming. Because it downloaded and uploaded 30Mb of data in total, I can see that you have launched a dispute and think that this is false. Unfortunately we can not disbar your phone until you pay that sum (even though its not due for an other month) (In case you are wondering New Zealand charges it prepaid customers 50c a Mb rate - thats the highest - Vodafone is charging me $10/Mb< for services that I did not use + Dissabled my number and calling until I did so). The problem is on their side and I end up paying for it. Before I could reply the phone call was dropped. I want out of my contract, you can have the phone and I am going to Tesltra. I am having dropped calls and I can not use internet if I am traveling faster than an average butterfly. Sure people tell me that their customer service is not as good but the best customer service not having to ring "customer service" in the first place. I am getting in contact with Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman and speaking with vodafone personally
31 Aug 2011 06:05:12 PM: If you want great customer service and cheap call rates I suggest Amaysim. I have even convinced my partner now to sign up with them after her troubles with Vodafail for being overcharged on data she did not use.
19306 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Monumental at 31 Aug 2011 09:56:52 AM
Since getting into a contract $29/ month --- usual deal --- 24 months locked in thank you very much then first bill is >$600 for minmal calls. (I am am one of the old fogeys who don't use my mobile if I can help it). Vodafone after much running around said opps sorry charging you at wrong rate ; all fixed terribly sorry and that. Next bill, same usage (minimal) >$700. Of shore assistance said I was on wrong plan could upgrade to $49 and would be happy to do that for me and wrong data charges would be corrected. Silly me agreed sounded somewhat logical. Now the bill is $60 so and I have used 1.5% of my data usage. Please explain!!!! TIO involved and hopefully I can get out of Vodafone ... never want to deal with them again. Thank you for letting me vent. Yours in despair, "old Fart"

Well I'm now convinced we are not going to see improvement in vodacorpse network soon. Just finished a road trip from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast as well as taking in the Hinterland. I placed the handset in 3G perfer mode to see what would happen. During the trip the handset was spending more time flicking between 3G to 2G to no network. Not once did the handset lock into one mode longer than a few kilometers of driving. The surprise came up on the lookout in Maleny over looking the whole of the Sunshine Coast.... No Network. Now from this lookout you see the city suburbs ocean, so god knows why no reception. By the time I check in to a Motel in Marcoola, my handset battery went flat due to it trying to lock in to a strong enough signal for reception. If I had of left my Handset into 2G mode I would of had 30hrs of battery life, not 5 hours, by having the handset flicking between modes to get a strong signal. Now I'm hearing Vodacorpse may take up to another 12 months to complete the upgrades to there Network. So I wish Vodafone would stop misleading the public by listing updates to there network, because my tests show they have very little to convince me to stay with them, and I'm now counting the weeks when I say goodbye to there Network that was designed for anyone that doesn't rely on reception.

In Kensington, i had 4bars of 3G reception. I open facebook then the reception changes to "H" and it doesnt load. I close the facebook page and go to my home screen, then the reception says 3G again. It repeatedly happened so i gave up.
Im lost for words to express over this entire situation.
Why cant all phone companies use the one set of antennas, just rent it from the owner (how ever it would work), why must every building in Sydney have the ugly antennas on the roof just about.

1.Poor data reception around clayton and oakliegh area's in Victoria on a HTC Desire HD even outside. At oakleigh train station I cant even use the internet, it just does not work!
2. After last 2 pre-paid recharges, my credit will add on to what credit I had left e.g If I had $20 and got a $30 recharge it becomes $50. My free sms will do the same but, my data always resets to 250mb, and will not add on what data I had left. Usual story, rang customer service tried to blame my sim card.
Customer service is very poor, tranfering me to different departments, so I told them they have lost me as a customer so as soon as my credit is used I will be going to another carrier.

19297 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Self explanatory at 29 Aug 2011 10:48:42 PM
I used to work for Vodafone, and hated it! Not initially because of the company itself, but because of the call centre-which is now Vodafone's fault for lack of training and informing staff exactly which department does what so that they don't toss the customers from one department to the next.
Imagine making 20 of those one call centre phone calls a day and you will understand the pain I along with half the Vodafone staff experienced.
I haven't worked for them for about a year now, but unfortunately I signed myself up to a contract before leaving them. The problem these days is the call centre regardless of any miscommunication have absolutely no authority to do something within their department. There is no one to speak to any more who can resolve any issue!
I can go on and on about my mobile broadband issues and being charged per month when it has been in repairs for 6 weeks, Or how about staying on the phone for hours being thrown around like a rag doll from customer service department to collections team to be hung up on as soon as I ask for Loyalties and Retention (apparently now called 'Cancellation team') which is the only department that jumped to fix the wrongly applied barring to my phone which cost me days of important business calls and emails (I upgraded from Vodafone Rep to an Advertising agency) and should really be with Telstra, even though there service is equally poor, at least we won't get any dropped calls.
Anyway, I will not bore you with my pain story, I'm sure others have covered every problem. However Vodafone CEO if your reading this, you can say goodbye to your pretty penny because I can guarantee you that your business is already down the drain, the only income you will receive from here on in will be the left over contracts, which if like mine will end within this year and I will disappear from your pathetic Siebel software which gave away customers details.
P.S your company is not shit because of the slow service or dropped calls every now and again, because people don't care - nothing is perfect, it's shit because your to busy sitting on your yacht enjoying your passion fruit mojito to notice your untrained staff are failing to meet each customers expectations-and that is an understatement!

Yet despite all this they will not admit that there could be a problem with people being overcharged for data they did not use. If the problem means we owe them money they will jump straight onto it but when it comes to them owing people money they try to avoid it at all cost

After loads of problems yesterday trying to access Vodafone's website to check my usage, worked well this morning though, why can't they have a simple graphic usage meter like Telstra? Log in, and there it shows how many percent you've used this billing period. With vodafone you got to get out a calculator and add the data used, assuming you know when your billing period actually starts.

29 Aug 2011 07:43:22 PM: what really surprised me is when I got my Telstra 7Gb/$49 business mobile broadband a/c, my registration was rejected, and I expected to speak with somebody with an indian accent to get my access fixed. I almost fell over backwards when I spoke to somebody with an aussie accent. I almost fell of my chair (in relief) when she said she was located in Artarmon, Sydney !!!! And I got my access password fixed in a jiffy. I regret bagging Telstra in the past.... Will be seeking to get out of my "3" contract, as often i get 'no service' in the middle of Robina, as well as Robina Town Centre. The Australian way of doing things (and business) leaves a lot to be desired. If I were Prime Minister, I would give every aussie the opportunity to travel o/s and experience things how they are done in a civilized country. Ring Suncom and you talk to a local-accent human after just 2 button-presses. Ring Swisscom and you identify yourself as a business or residential customer by way of a button-press and you talk to a local human. Why does life down-under have to be so different? Whilst I say thank goodness to have dual citizenship, I fail to see any reason why I should be proud to hold an aussie passport. The Swiss one cost me Fr.85 (about $90) to renew last year. I dare to think what it would cost me to renew my aussie passport in 2 years' time... $200? or more?
29 Aug 2011 07:46:01 PM: Bingo, 29 Aug 2011 07:40:00 PM; you hit the nail right on the head. They want to sting you left right and centre. and they know you'll pay your bill no matter what the amount it. THat's the reason why everyday essentials like electricity, petrol and such is so dear here. People just keep on paying up. Shame I'm not a real aussie, i just don't have that privilege of having a bottomless pocket and a limitless budget....
29 Aug 2011 07:59:58 PM: 3 days down, I do wonder (and hope) the T.I.O. has some clout in resolving ones' problems with loserfone.... A former housemate has taken her complaints with Vodafone to her lawyer, as they have tarnished her credit rating on account of gross billing errors. The TIO has confirmed the receipt of her complaint, 10 days had passed, no answer from Vodafone. They then disconnected her service, she attempted to churn her number to Optus, but Vodafone would not release her number, then she started getting letters from Vodacrap's collection agency, now she applied to get a Telstra service as Optus isn't crash hot, and she was denied the initial service application on account of an outstanding debt with VodaFraud...... Where will we draw the line on this and let them get away with this??? Honestly.. this goes beyond a joke

Corporate Plan with 11 handsets. You try explaining to one of your potential customers why your call dropped out 5 times. Ohh sorry, we're with shitty service provider Vodafone. Don't know what's worse.... 1. On Contract with Vodafone or 2. telling our customers how bad Vodafone are. Either way, it's a disgrace and we are looking to terminate our contract.
29 Aug 2011 08:04:10 AM: being with vodafone can seriously damage your company's reputation in the marketplace. Clients see you as a cheap-skate, cutting corners. Ooh, these guys use Vodafone, wonder where else they cut corners and penny-pinch.... Just a thought.

Over the last week I have found out that 4 of my SMS' have failed. (I have failed to receive 1 and 3 haven't reached the other people). - Now I wonder how many others have failed. This is just the start of a tonne of problems I have with Vodafone. What a total joke this company is...
29 Aug 2011 08:07:49 AM: this happens quite frequently with '3' also - you can have 3 or 4 bars of coverage, but SMS's sent fail. The company's a joke, but for as long as most people pay their bills, expect little change. Complain to the T.I.O., it costs Vodafone upwards of $30 each time a complaint is lodged with the T.I.O. and this amount increases once disputes aren't resolved within 10 days to over $200 a complaint.

Thanks to vodafone my work due Monday will no longer be delivered on time!!

19281 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Ugrade becomes downgrade at 27 Aug 2011 03:09:06 PM
Live in Wollongong, have a Blackberry on a month to month basis with Vodafail, everything working well(at least I had 3G functionality intermittently) until last Wednesday when all services dropped out without explanation. Yesterday I received a text message from Vodafone to let me know that a network upgrade was being made text was two days late and arrived after the upgrade was made.
Still having no service after the alleged network upgrade was done, I contacted customer service and after two hours of speaking with a very polite Indian gentleman, and going through the motions of trying to convince me that my Blackberry was faulty (its not I've been through this before with them) he went on to inform me that after checking the signal coverage of my area, it appears that the upgrades to the network have resulted in DOWNGRADE of services available in my area???? WTF?
After five call dropouts during our conversation, the final suggestion was for me to find a neighbour and use their phone should any emergency arise, as Vodafone could not guarantee an uninterupted service from this point onwards.
Thank you Vodafone your alleged $1bn upgrades in your network have resulted in even less coverage in the 3rd largest city in the most populous state in the Country.

27 Aug 2011 04:32:17 PM: Mate, if your on the month to month, leave them. You dont have a contract to worry about. The reception your having now (no reception) is what i get 24/7 here in Shellharbour. I rang vodafone to complain 3 weeks ago about reception, they were meant to call me back within 5days and nothing. Ive been too busy with uni to follow up on the complaint, and when the man was giving me the complaint number he hung up on me. So now when i call they will say, "you never rang before, its not on the system" etc ... back to square 1

After having drama's with Vodafail over charging us on excess fees data for the past few months we lodged a complaint with the TIO. It was my understamding that if the account was in dispute with the TIO that Vodafail legally could not apply any account management action. Suprise suprise today my partner went to make a call from her phone amd they have put a barr on her phone. I rang Vodafail and explained to them that it was illegal to put a barr on her phone while the account was in dispute. He told me it is not and the barr will remain and since the account is in dispute he will get someone from the account resolution team to call me on either monday or Tuesday.
29 Aug 2011 07:34:45 AM: I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for them to call you back

29 Aug 2011 12:05:54 PM: Can anyone confirm wheater it is illegal to apply account management actions on an account when it is in dispute? I am only going by what I have read here hence why we have not gone back to the TIO yet that is.
29 Aug 2011 01:44:31 PM: Looks like we will be contacting the TIO with the new problems as we today found out that they have also placed incoming call restrictions on the phone. How are the dispute resolution team meant to contact us in regards to our dispute if they cant get through. EPIC VODAFAIL

I moved my old phone number over to Vodafone in late May this year onto a 45$ plan. I left for work to China in June. I was told by the vodafone people to set up ebill which was confirmed on July 12th ( by them by email). I did not receive any invoice. In August I rang and asked why and was simply told I have 168.34$ to pay and the statement is on its way ( payed strait away by master card) now just a week or so later I receive an eBill ( the first ever) telling me to pay 1228,64$ and no details given other then the last 3 month with the normal 45$ or so monthly and over 1000$ for August. I ring their help line and get connected to an indian call centre where I get told that I have been disconnected because I did not pay the bill on time! And they are not willing to reconnect the phone till it is payed the whole amount ( I have to pay the remaining contract now) and then I have to do a direct debit from my bank to reconnect the same number! Take it or else... I have set up the right way according to their people before I left and was told I will get the bills online and all I have to do is pay when I get them... only got one statement since I signed up with Vodafone the final! Can they demand a direct debit?

Due to crappy coverage (I live in inner sydney and don't get coverage inside my own house) I decided to sign up with another carrier. However my iPhone is locked to the Vodafone network. I call Vodafone, they direct me to the online form to unlock, which doesnt work as it does not recognise my phone's IMEI number. The website says the issue will be handled by their phone unlock team and I will get a response in 4 business days. A week goes by, no one contacts me, I call again. They say they will escalate and someone will call me within two business days. Three days go by, no one contacts me. I call again, they ring Apple and confirm that the phone was in fact made for Vodafone but can't unlock for me on the spot and say that they will have it fixed within 48 hours and I should just go back to the website to unlock it. I wait two days, try it again this morning, no it doesn't work. Call Vodafone, they say it has been referred to the unlock phone team and they have 5 business days to get back to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor as this is getting ridiculous - supervisors are too busy and they have offered to call me back in one hour. Has anyone else found it this difficult to get their phone unlocked from the network?? It is an iPhone 3GS and I have had it for over two years, so the contract is up and it just seems to be a matter of Vodafone sorting out their IMEI numbers. In the meantime, I foolishly had signed a contract with the new provider and will now be paying two phone companies until this is sorted! Any tips or advice gratefully appreciated.
1 Sep 2011 09:53:11 PM: iPhones don't require and NEP plug the device into iTunes and restore the software. This process will unlock the handset. If it doesn't work the first time you need to repeat the process in 48 hours. All iPhones are unlocked this way no matter the carrier
19276 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Switch to three at 27 Aug 2011 07:50:36 AM
As usual, very poor 3G network coverage. Kept on complaining for months and wished to terminate my contract because it was useless. I downgraded my plan from $49 to $29 because I said I paid expensive cap but couldn't use it. so they agree to downgrade the plan till the remaining of the contract. they advised me to use 2G instead of 3G. still not happy with this because I couldn't browse the internet, I wished to terminate my contract and they said I didn't need to pay termination fee and i needed to return the handset bla bla. due to busy schedules, I somehow switched to three. Little doubt at first but i know that three coverage in my area is better so I switched and three 3G coverage is better and quite happy these days.
If you are not happy with the service, I think you can still terminate the contract without paying the termination fee because it is not our fault.

19275 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Epic ;) at 26 Aug 2011 10:42:39 PM
Well as I have read, I'm definitely not alone in my extreme frustration. It's the same story. I'm in ACT, the capital of Australia and I can't even get good coverage in the middle of the city. My phone drops out in the middle of phone calls, nearly every time and I'm constantly moving from one end of the house to the other to find a good coverage spot. And by good, I mean I can hear every second word that's being said. I can hardly use my aps, some nights I can't be bothered to turn my phone on and off 20 times before I can get some form of 3G network to load my game. I don't receive voice mails and pictures for days. I had a phone interview and my phone kept cutting out during it and I had to re-arrange times so I would be near a landline. My mum called during an emergency and because I was at my in-laws where I get no service at all, I couldn't get hold of her with my own phone I had to borrow a friends, who btw is with telstra. They have had no problems!!! When I joined I told them I needed good coverage and they banged on about there big plans for a wider coverage network and assured me I would be happy. With in the first couple months I had more patience trusting them when they said it was just a small issue and it would be fixed soon. Trusted them when they promised that coverage would be vastly improved and I needed to give them a bit more time. I keep trusting these people and yet nothing has been delivered and I'm about 1 more phone call drop out to throwing this phone through a window! It's extremely disappointing, I'm Paying good money every month for a service, I'm just not getting. But it's good to know I'm not the only one about to erupt into a fiery ball of hulk-like rage (lol). Anywho- I feel a bit better now and I haven't verbally attacked a poor customer rep so yep! There my mess!
1 Sep 2011 01:13:11 PM: I'm in the ACT as well. I used to have exactly the same issues as you. No service in Civic, etc. I filed a complaint with Vodafone and was eventually release from my contract, just had to send the phone back. Fair enough.
I switched to Telstra, new phone and a good contract,I'm on their $59 a month plan. I havent a single issue since I signed up 2 months ago. My SMS always go through the first time, never ever have dropped calls. So Its up to you to bitch and complain to them to let you out of the contract. Dont believe anything Vodafone tells you, stand your ground that you want out otherwise they will stuff you around. Tehy'll most likely offer your plan for 1/2 price for 3 months, etc. But your problems will still be there.

I was told by Three to change to Vodafone as I live in Craigmore to use the web on my phone. I've signed a contract with Vodafone, and now the internet is worse, it doesn't even work in Craigmore, and I can't make Video calls on this Sony Ericsson Xperia, when they told me that it could make video calls. It's like i've actually went backwards 5 years in phone technology and signed a 24 month contract. I've contacted the TIO, but Vodafone still hasn't contacted me, but they have until Monday.

I suggested that my daughter gets a new 850mhz pocket wifi for her new netbook, only for the thing to be slower than a snail, she only got it this week so Im suggesting she cancels her contract and return the modem to Vodafone. Shes in the city centre too, just hope then dont try to give her the "you on contract bullshit". I have to take some blame too, like all good daughters they listen to thier fathers. Never Vodafone again, you pay what you get, so pay more and get the service.
26 Aug 2011 12:24:54 PM: You're an idiot vodafone offer a 30day satisfaction guarantee where you can cancel your Mobile Boardband for free if you get poor coverage WHICH NO OTHER COMPANY OFFERS!!!
26 Aug 2011 12:39:50 PM: thanks pal.. would probably make more sense if Vodafone just kept their promise to customers and had a service that actually worked instead of mucking customers around again and again.
27 Aug 2011 12:18:12 PM: Satisfaction guarantee? That's a new one, let's hope it's true. If not I'm sure you will be able to get out of the plan without a cancellation fee once speaking to customer support (or through the TIO if it fails). It might be a bit of time on the phone but it's worth it in the long run.

*** VHA SELLS MOBILES WHICH IT IS FULLY AWARE ARE FAULTY ***
I upgraded online from Pre-Paid to Post Paid and could select either a Nokia N97 Mini or iPhone3 @ $29 per month & simply ticked the box for $9.90 p/mth insurance. I completed the order online & received the phone a week later. I have had ENDLESS issues with the mobile and sent it for repair, only to get it back functioning more erratic than before. (Naturally I was reluctant to send it for a 2nd attempt) I did notice they sent it to the VHA workshop & not Nokia which is where it should have gone. Hmmm
Whilst I waited 2 weeks for it's return, I did some research online and discovered many levels of complaints regarding the full sized N97 model, which the mini was purported to have fixed. Then I discovered the same issues with Connectivity, Software upgrades and Browser limitations with the mini model also. The advertising said I could watch videos online but experienced "Upgrade Flash Player" which the handset wouldn't allow.
According to the plethora of information, it seems both Nokia AND Vodafone are well aware of the technical issues with BOTH these handsets, yet continued to sell them in stores nationally. (Sometimes @ premium rates)
I grit and bared it until a month later my mobile fell out of my pocket whilst washing up and I had to call to claim my Insurance. I was told I had to pay an excess of $50 if they repaired it (waiting up to 2wks minimum) or $175 if they replaced the handset completely. Now, I did NOT receive ANY information during sign-up or with the received documentation about any excess for insurance, I had simply ticked a box. I was practically accused of lying by one operator & promised a callback by a Team Leader.
After numerous calls being referred from Insurance to Customer Service to Direct back and forth, no one could give me a explanation. I ended up eventually speaking with a team called "WIN- BACK". I explained I refused to pay any excess and if so, requested cancellation of the contract under Trade Practices (Misleading & unconscionable conduct) which had been advised by TIO.
I was told by Vodafone ... "Too bad, You will have to pay the Termination Fee." I explained seeing the handset was water logged it would no doubt be the $175 so if they were going to charge me for it anyway, then I requested to attend my local store and obtain a different model. They accepted this and I ensured a Reference Number to streamline the process.
Apart from a minor delay in obtaining consent in-store (wasn't in notes), I requested a Samsung Galaxy S2 which would require an upgrade from $29 - $59 per month which was refused due to my bill not being paid (per instructions from the TIO until matter was resolved). You would think this would have been an opportunity for Vodafone to not only resolve a customer complaint but obtain MORE business? I eventually chose the Nexus S on the same plan with insurance (wasn't taking any further chances)
I received a phone call later that day from an authorised VHA rep to tell me they were crediting me $50 toward the $175 replacement cost. Whilst this was a very nice gesture, the fact that I have to pay an excess at all is ridiculous.
I am in the process of consulting legal counsel to determine if Vodafone Hutchinson Australia can be prosecuted for selling mobile handsets when they are aware they are faulty. And also how customer can terminate their contracts due to this.
I'd be interested if anyone has any feedback, advise etc. Cheers.

27 Aug 2011 12:21:37 PM: That sounds pretty bad, but if the TIO advised that you can get out of the contract without paying then you don't have to accept what Vodafone says. You can go back to the TIO as many times as are required and each time Vodafone will be fined a larger amount for not resolving the problem.
It sounds like it's all been sorted out now but it was definitely a lot of effort. There is a class action investigation being conducted so it might be worth checking out.

14 Nov 2011 11:30:11 AM: why would they give you a galaxy s2 for a handset thats only worth 300?? makes no sense you were lucky to get a nexus s at all
21 Feb 2012 02:16:42 PM: If you'd read my post correctly, it was to "upgrade" the service to allow for the "better" handset to resolve the internet browser limitations. The Nexus S ended up a poor "equiv." handset after all the VF shopgirl's assurances, so I snapped the Post Paid SIM in half n went PrePaid with someone else. Apparently they hadn't changed the IMEI # so it ain't locked. Vodafone should be turfed outta the country

19264 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is increasingly fail at 25 Aug 2011 02:39:40 PM
I was a prepaid customer, had okayish coverage at home and at work. Coverage maps and word-of-mouth indicated that vodafone coverage in these places was fine, so I put it down to my old handset having a lame antenna. Signed up on a contract to get a nice new phone, thinking from experience that my coverage would remain okay. however found that I now have NO coverage at home (let alone 3G) and only intermittent at work. Brought this up and got some reduction in my monthly fees as compensation but am still stuck on a contract with a phone that I can't use to make or receive calls or texts. After an unrelated (but still incredibly annoying) issue I have learned not to bother trying to call the call centre. I got through eventually but the line quality was so bad it was very hard to communicate the problem which was then dismissed by the worker as impossible (was later resolved in-store by a manager after 90min of troubleshooting on his part)

Here is a new one. Vodafone Broadway have adopted a new strategy....Immediately upon being asked to escalate the matter to a manger the Broadway Vodafone staff inform you that they will not escalate the matter and then to save their own skin -- they "get in first" and make a complaint about the customer. Utter lies.
Has anyone else had experience with this tactic? My thoughts are that i demand the untruthful allegations are withdrawn or i cancel my contract. Thoughts?

19255 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is early termination fee at 24 Aug 2011 09:20:46 PM
Ha! Vodafone terminated my account without any notice or warning and they now want me to pay all the money for contract (ie. 69 x 24 dollars). I argued with them for 5 hours just now and the staffs are very rude and kept interfering my word not listening to me at all. I doubt they pick anyone in the street to employ and educate nothing. I argued 7 staffs about this retarded event, but they already transferred my file to NRG which is the company where collects money for voda. Then i called NRG and they cannot help me cause they only know how to collect money. Now I have to pay 1700 dollars for confirming my account termination without being noticed anything from them. So out of blue

19254 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Disgusting at 24 Aug 2011 07:21:27 PM
I am the poor Three Vodaphone user, after three and vodaphone merged together, three customers are treated as rubbish. The retailers, customer service always try to push the customers to swich their plan to Vodaphone, they told you there are more handset available on vodaphone. I have ordered a new handset online, the same day I called Three wanted to confirm they have received my order. They said the order had been canceled because the handset it not available, I asked if there is no more stocks of the handset whyit is still availble online. They said it is a system mistake. Ask advised me that phone is available on Vodaphone. If I would like to swith my plan from Three to Vodaphone, they will more than happy to give me that phone. I asked if the order has been canceled by system, when I haven't been notified until I called them. They just told me it takes 48 hours for the system to generate the message to me. Until today, after more than 1 and half months, I haven't received any message stated my order has been cancelled due to stock not available.
It is really disgusting as they actually have the stocks, they just simply don't want to keep three's customer. Since we are three's customer, so we can be treated as rubbish.

25 Aug 2011 12:31:27 AM: strange how the handset is available for a certain company...this could be construed as unfair competition..
25 Aug 2011 01:36:52 PM: yeah but who regulates competition? The ACCC. What will they do? NOTHING
25 Aug 2011 05:10:56 PM: When you call Three you actually get Vodafones call centre, the employees are told to answer the call differently.
19253 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is i would never recomend them at 24 Aug 2011 07:14:14 PM
Billing was totally overcharged. When I called I was made out to be a lier. Was told bluntly "we don't like to upset customers but we will not be reversing the charges". There is no way the excess is credable but they could not even tell what the charges were for.
30 Aug 2011 06:15:44 AM: Nothing unusual. I somehow managed to use about 3Gb of data on Vodacrap Mobile Broadband when we spent 3 days up at Maryborough for the Home & Camping show, had NO SIGNAL for mobile broadband in Tinana where we stayed (at Ned Kelly's), and NO SIGNAL for mobile broadband at the Maryborough showground, so the only mobile broadband usage. Hopped on-line on approach to the gateway bridge to check some maps and browse some websites about upcoming events, 10-15 min of web surfing before dropping out. Went on-line for 5-6 minutes near Nambour on the Bruce Hwy to check some google maps, and on Sunday on the way back, checked e-mail on the Bruce Hwy (yahoo) near deception bay. With network speeds of around 10kb/s to 40kb/s there's no way in the world I clocked up 3Gb of data. Whilst in Maryborough, used my friends' telstra usb stick as Vodacrap had no signal. Go figure!!!
19252 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 24 Aug 2011 04:51:18 PM
Ever since signing up with Three I have not had a signal where I live but has not been an issue as I hadly use my phone as a phone and at home have Wi-Fi. Recently on holiday in Melbourne and in the Bourke Street Mall had No Signal or Searching, meanwhile my iPad with Telstra had full signal.
How can vodafone/three even call themselves a "service provider".

Mobile internet is just crap, they say that South Yarra has a new faster connection but it's not true.
It failed me when I needed it the most. I have waited 17mins for data connection to start working so I can get my GPS going and find a place that I was looking for. Obviously made me late by about 15mins.
Switching to Telstra for sure!

19250 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is No reception! at 24 Aug 2011 04:43:48 PM
No fucking reception ever and bullshit charges i was not aware of! I have had my handset for 7 months and tried to ignore the issue, as i am not one to complain. But its getting worse! I am on a $70 plan a month and my service is conditional! Not only is it annoying its embarresing! I went into the vodafone store to ask if there was anything to do about this, they said there was terrible reception in the shopping centre due to other elements in the shopping centre so i would have to call up the vodafone service because there was nothing i could show them! they hand balled my problem onto someone who i will never have to see face to face! upon lodging a complaint to the tio i had a vodafone representative call me and say the problem lies with my handset or sim card, so i swapped the sim card, SAME PROBLEMS OCCURRED! Then they said it was my handset, so they wanted me to send it back so they could send out another one and continuing paying for the new one, even though its not my handset that is the problem its there shitty service! I want out of my contract so i can go to a service provider that is not so problematic! if i had known about this website i would have NEVER signed up for vodafone, paying $70 a month and not receiving the service I pay for! the "representative" for vodafone tried to tell me that it was saying i have full coverage all the time.. and i said to him as the customer who is paying his company MY money, there is a problem with service! My friends who also have iphones with other services will be hanging out with me and well all be going on the internet to look at something, but mine is the one that never loads!! I am so sick of this!
1 Sep 2011 01:16:07 PM: LOL. I had the same issue when I was with them. Swapped SIM cards (its always the SIM cards fault apparently). Same shitty reception and service after SIM card swap, no difference at all. Tell them you want out or the TIO will get nvolved.
19249 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is F*cked at 24 Aug 2011 04:27:27 PM
We cancelled our account in January 2011, Now it is August, and apparently the account was not cancelled until July 2011, we have been charged $252 for Jan-Jul of non use.. I asked them to go back on their notes and have a look, and there are NO notes for cancellation - only notes of complains with handset..
Vodaphone have now given NRG the account, and because of this (and no notes), we now have no leg to stand on and HAVE to pay the account if we want to avoid black dots on our record..
Vodaphone say they have sent out letters which have gone to an incorrect address as we moved AFTER cancellation and they say that is our fault for not letting them know the new address (which why should we update address to an account we were under the assumption was cancelled)..
Vodaphone are SHIT and I would NEVER recommend anyone using their services......

19248 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopeless Broadband, shocking support service at 24 Aug 2011 01:42:56 PM
I use Vodafone broadband but every few weeks it drops out and is almost impossible to access, sometime for days at a time (eg I've been unable to access Vodafone on just about every day for the last 10 days). If you call the Vodafone help desk they fob you off by suggesting it's a problem with your computer rather than a network problem (even when the media has said that there's problems with the Vodafone network). If they have network problems and tell me then I can live with that if they can let me know when they hope to fix it by. But when they aren't open and honest and waste your time it makes me angry. I do not trust this company.
19247 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is non existend at 24 Aug 2011 01:14:00 PM
The Vodafone rep in Queenstreet Mall checked my location in North Lakes for reception quality, I was assured before I signed up my reception will be fine. I have absolutely no reception in North Lakes! Sit with a Vodafone contract for 24 months and I can not use it at home where I wanted to use it! Will stop paying my contract as they made a false statement.

4 weeks of apparent inactivity from Vodafail to rectify the 3G network/BB Storm issue that appears to be unique to the ACT 3G network "improvement". Obvious troubleshoot is to roll back changes that were implemented 27 - 28/7. My bill does not reflect the reduced capability of my handset due to their FAIL

24 Aug 2011 09:32:41 AM: Contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO). Or even threaten to contact them next time you deal with Vodafail. Obviously they drag their feet at first, but the fines the TIO can hit them with are substantial enough to make them take action.
19242 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Total at 24 Aug 2011 07:32:06 AM
In June 2010 we signed up for a 24 month contract to get a mobile Internet dongle for my laptop. The only stipulation I made was that it had to work in Romsey, 60kms north of Melbourne. "no worries" they said, it will work.
It didn't.
$15per month for 24 months, not one second of connection so far. Now I am trying to bail out but next to impossible

Work in the city, in one of the larger buildings, and although there is reception at the corners of the building, once you go into the core, it drops off! And even when there is reception, data works at a snail's pace (worse than dial-up modem, for those in vodafone who even know what is what). Megafail!

Was hoping to use my sister's mobile internet connection with Vodafail in Canberra, because it sure didn't work in the outer suburbs of Sydney and there's almost a year left on the contract. I'm within walking distance of the Canberra CBD, but the signal here is just as shocking. Every fifteen or twenty minutes I'll get just enough of a signal to load half a page and it dies again. If you're lucky. If you're not, it's longer than that and you get as far as "waiting for..." in the browser before it dies again.
I'll let the TIO sort it out from here. No point in paying for something that they're not providing.

Sales person could not even get off the stoll they were sitting on whilst leaning against the wall. Could not be bothered by the fact I might be new business for the company.
Real shame....sorry vodafail, the guys at the telstra office next door were only too happy to get the business!

19233 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC 10/10 at 23 Aug 2011 02:20:05 PM
Was transferred from 3 to Vodafail with the "guarantee" that i would receive better network coverage. Two months on after the fact I not only receive 4 to 5 call drops outs, multiple "call fail" messages, SMS sending failures, shoddy at best call quality and not to mention the abysmal internet quality. I call the ever helpful Vodafail only to be told that I live in an area that they know has network issues and that i also happen to work in an area that has known network issues. I am told my residential area has no planned upgrades but that my work are will be upgraded in the next 3 months; i am then asked if this is acceptable...clearly not i reply. I also mention that even when i am in metro/cbd brisbane, i show "full" signal + 3G and still experience similar issues. Vodafails response is to offer my 50% discount for three months and if no network improvement noticeable then they will be willing to "revisit" the issue, again no no i say. Asking why i should have to endure another 3 months when clearly i should have been made aware of the poor network coverage in my area PRIOR to my transferal i am told that this is the "best" they can offer. Oh dear Vodafail...when will you learn...I have already convinced 5 fellow colleagues not join Vodafail...however sweet their deals seem to be...all i can suggest fellow suffers is that you do exactly this, on mass spread the word to anybody and everybody eventually Vodafail WILL have to do something...

Sorry, im from NSW, 2529.
I have to wait until June 2012 for an antenna to be installed near my house for coverage. What do i do in the mean time? Keep paying my $55p/m for limited phone usage if at all?
The Australian government should step in and do something. Look after your own people.
Also i have 3 wireless internet. 3 is converting to vodafone. In the past week i have had troubles opening sites and pictures on websites (archidaily) dont load at all.
Im lucky im on the month to month payment and no contract. Optus, here i come!!

24 Aug 2011 10:05:34 PM: agreed. the government needs to do something about this. too many people left financially in ruins because of these issues.
The TIO will escalate further.
Vodafail will contact you and say the matter has been resolved.
Agree this state of affairs should not be acceptable under any circumstances.
P.S. I've removed your name as don't want to keep any personal details on this website although we appreciate your openness.
Thanks

No worries, the TIO should really be able to sort it out. They get a lot of complaints regarding vodafone but they always seem to stay on top of the problems.
Goodluck!
