26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I worked in the Vodafone Mulgrave Victoria call centre for nearly five years, before everyone was made redundant. The problem at that time was the culture in there. It wasn't easy to complain when you worked for them. Good on you for creating this web site.

17718 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is in so many ways at 5 May 2011 12:30:18 PM
Reception issues. Pick up calls and the line is disconnected. I had to call the caller back. Good way for Vodaphone to make money out of their customers.

Constant reception dramas.

After purchased a sony ericsson from them. When I had battery problems they tried to fob me off. When they eventually sent my phone back for repair they gave me a replacement dodgy phone and they did not provide updates. I constantly had to call them. 8 weeks later i received my phone back with a second hand battery. 8 weeks for this! The phone still has issues. My plan has since run out and I am with Virgin.

17715 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely Poor at 5 May 2011 11:40:46 AM
Have wireless internet and mobile connection with Gold Coast Vodafone - calls drop out continually, phone incapable of sending SMS, internet drops out/times out continually, so painful. Complained to local store, was told Vodafone working on tower for last 6 weeks (sure, give me a break), said have had problem since signing with Vodafone months ago. The supposedly "free" Vodafone "helpline" has NEVER worked. Have to pay for all calls to Vodafone. Not Satisfactory. False advertising. Was again told by local Vodafone store that I can go on the complaints list (I said I had complained on this list months ago). Shocking network, extremely poor customer service, I want out. Extremely frustrating - NEVER EVER WILL I SIGN WITH VODAFONE AGAIN.

I live approx 20mins south of brisbane city in a very populated area, Whilst in the main shopping centre....No reception!! At home i have to go upstairs and put my ear againts the window to make calls,Broadband is non exsistant!!! Yet my flatmate on another network has FULL coverage throughout the shopping centre and throughout my home! Its incredibly frustrating. Ive contacted the call centre and got told to turn my phone off and on and hopefully that will resolve the issue....Your joking right????!!!! lol. Vodaphone refuses to release me from my contract even after explaining that the manager of ther vodafone store absolutley promised me that it was my old phone that was causing my reception difficultys, Ive been stuck on my contract for 9months now and have got 13 painfull months to go! Everybody in my social network is 110% behind ditching vodafone when there contracts are up. Vodafone has really let me down in there service and quality of product but what im the most angry about is there lack of understanding to say ....Yip we are in the wrong,we apologise and we will release you from your contract as we are failing to meet our side of the deal!!! Absolultey disgusting!!!! Vodafone heead this.....Your company is on the way out.....But i think you know that already!!!!!

17710 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Ungradeable at 5 May 2011 11:35:59 AM
Voicemail message received days late, several episodes of being unable to make/receive calls & SMS (plus the sms meltdown on 24/4. As i am sitting here at my desk writing this I have gone from 3 bars of reception, to 1 to 'searching.' Just got off the phone to Vodafone tech support & my call failed twice, they had to call me back.
I live in inner Melbourne & the Vodafone coverage map suggests I have excellent reception inside & outside of my home. I think NOT!

The usual story. Unfortunately I have both a mobile phone contract and wireless USB stick with them. On the phone it's dropped calls, no reception, messages not sending despite apparently having reception. With internet, despite being in a capital city, it's terribly slow if it chooses to work. Sometimes it only is available in the corner of my courtyard with the computer held up above my head...not really conducive for use!
It's annoying, yes. But it's also incredibly unsafe.

17706 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is no point in useing them at 5 May 2011 10:53:39 AM
Use them for internet in Waterford on Saturdays and Sunday. I sometimes find there is no connection or more often slow to the point of total frustration at the slowness of the connection. The connection sometimes stops completely in the middle of a download. It can restart or sometimes I give up and put the computer away. Several weeks ago the download speed was 3kb ps, useless.

17705 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failed at 5 May 2011 10:37:52 AM
I have a USB internet connection that isnt working properly. I complained and after working through the workaround options with a staff member received an incident number and told that they investigate the problem and then would respond to me within 3 days.

I received a text with the incident number on it. After 3 days I called and was told to wait another 2 business days. This time I was told that it would take 5 business days for the investigation to be completed.

When I told the staff member that I was recording this on the Vodafail website for a complaint they then ask me for my particular details again so that they could look at my particular account. I complained that I didnt want to keep giving my access details to different staff as I didnt trust their security. I was also worried that now that I had told them that I was complaining I might have more problems.

The staff member insisted and so I gave him my access details. He then just repeated that I needed to wait another 2 business days. He did not give me any further information that was relevant to my particular details so I am even more concerned that he did not need my details but wanted them when I told him that I was complaining.

And to get access to web sites is virtually impossible and extrememly slow which I pay an extra allowance for? I live 6kms from the Brisbane CBD. I would estimate that 50% - 60% of calls either made or received, will drop out. I work for myself and have an office under my house. My phone iPhone4) does not receive a signal when I'm in my office. If I walk up the stairs onto the deck I get a signal, as I'm in line of sight of the Vodaphone tower on the corner of Cracknell and Ipswich Road in Annerley. This is pretty annoying.

I primarily use my phone for business and constant drop outs, plus not being ably to use my phone in front of my desktop computer, do not give my business a good look.

The real kicker is that Vodaphone beleive they have this issue solved - they don't

17698 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty bad at 5 May 2011 09:17:09 AM
I can't get reception in the city train station and reception is poor to non-existent at the Bullcreek train station and surrounding areas. There are black holes around the entire city where I can't get 3G on my phone and low reception bars means my phone chews through the battery every two days. Calls drop out often meaning it costs you another flag charge to call back and SMS messages are delayed by hours sometimes days. On 24th April I couldn't send an SMS for the whole day. Vodafone responded by giving us free texts the following Sunday, but that was not a suitable compensation - I would rather have a refund of some of my bill. Vodafone really need to pick up their game.

We have a mobile phone plan for two phones that are useless, when anyone rings us or when we ring out the conversation breaks up and then goes dead, we have called back many time and same thing happens, and now have given up on ring anyone on the mobile and have to use home phone, which is expensive as we have bills for phones that are useless and the best that crazy johns will do is give you a new chip, my husband doesn't even carry his phone anymore and we are stuck paying for the plan with no service and more expensive calls made on the home phone, now all I want to do is get out of the contract and never use Crazy Johns or Voda phone again, and they are getting there money and they don't care that you are paying for something you can't use. Very Very disgruntal customer.

It drops out constantly, I have people complaining why I dont answer their texts which I dont even receive. I cant open pxt messages, It is a constant problem and when I complain all they want to do is run tests to see if we are in a good service area which is strange as we live on top of a hill near glenorchy , Our husband and sons phones have perfect reception as they are with a different service company. 17686 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is big at 4 May 2011 07:27:50 PM
1. Constant bad handling -delayed-of text or mms messaging, could result in life or death situation for certain people as unreliable service frustrates information handling. medical or emergency services cannot be contacted in many instances- disabled people need phones and access to!
2. Poor reception- inability to continue or make calls in my location- constant dropouts
3. Very poor wait time for customer service assistance (unbearably long)
4. Rubbish broadband on wireless modem.
5. No follow up for plan-holders with offers on replacement handsets- they do wear out!- what happened?
6. Constantly being badgered to sign again for plans just to get new handset- staff at shops do not understand- we already are customers, and simply want newer handsets not new numbers or plans! pre-pay or existing we only want access to current model handsets - is that too hard?
7. Wait time in most Voda-shops is ridiculous- am i invisible?

have not been able to receive sms for a week now. is this happening to anyone else???? wont be paying vodafone this month, that's for sure!!!!!!!
5 May 2011 02:52:57 AM: I'd advise against not paying. Overdue bills can result in a suspended service and bad credit rating which can effect any loans you apply for. Try troubleshooting via technical support so that you can find out whether it is the phone, sim or network that is at fault.
5 May 2011 07:54:35 AM: Yeah, try technical support, take a packed lunch, plenty of water and make sure your phone is fully charged, give up after two hours and then contact the TIO.

And i can't even call up vodafone to complain and CANCEL my contract!!! I am sad to be leaving but can not take the abuse anymore from customers. I know all of you are frustrated and all I would say is try and have some patience when you talk to anybody in Australia as it seems as soon as you speak to an australian after speaking to someone in Mumbai you take out your anger on the person that actually understands and wants to help.
Good luck all and well done on a website that will hold these GM's accountable!

17677 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Historically stressed at 4 May 2011 03:43:42 PM
Everything was wrong. Call quality; drop outs; invoices not arriving by email as I apparently changed it; call centre merry-go-round; Lara!!; emails not sending; SMS taking hours to leave a handset; new handset - got a virus; lied about "cooling off period".

But.....

Finally agreed to release from one contract without penalties - had to return new handset, and another for drastically reduced penalty.

Then.....

No satchel arrived to return phone; second satchel requested; two satchels arrived; phone returned; verbal agreement not on record; $2,000 bill; angry customer; phone not recorded as received; helpfull supervisor (in India); Australia Post system confirmed return of handset; returned phone located as received in different system; verbal agreement found and accepted; final bill for legitimate voice calls waived due to further disruption (i.e 1 hour call to complain about $2,00 bill).

Faith restored - will not discount them as potential supplier when they get their mess sorted out.

They know that they have some serious problems, and if you get through to senior people - they seem to do the right thing.

If you are unhappy (as I was), then complain and see what they will do.

4 May 2011 06:29:46 PM: How did you escalate to chase up the satchel after the first one did not arrive
5 May 2011 10:01:44 AM: I have a similar issue.. the satchel didn't arrive so i have not chased them up,.. nor have they chased me up... when they do i'll return the handset.

Got an iphone from vodafail on upgrade from existing plan, thought my old phone was faulty. Turns out it was vodafail and their so called network. Brought in the TIO and got released from my contract by vodafail, or so I thought. They received the iphone handset on 3rd of March. Sent them an email from myvodafone and got prorata bill for the time I had the handset which I thought was somewhat fair but never got a reply. Then just recently got a new bill for a new month with an overdue amount, lost my rag and rang them. Asked them if they had received the phone which I knew they had coz I had Auspost tracking number. They confirmed it and said i would be disconnected in 3 to 5 working days. Also asked why they didnt disconnect as I didnt have the phone but they did, did they think I liked having no handset but an active service? They said they werent sure if I wanted to be disconnected even though I photocopied the letter they sent me and included with the handset when I returned it. That was 2 weeks ago. Rang my old number yesterday and yep, there is my voice on the voicemail. This company sets new low standards for customer service. Back in the hands of the TIO again *sigh*. So very glad I never gave them bank details to take my money at their convenience.

Just had another period of "wont send an SMS for no apparent reason". Sick and tired of constant issues with vodafail. Every day I get "unable to connect to network" messages, despite my reception indicator being mid to high. Most notable was having an issue where my voicemail was out by an hour during daylight savings, and despite me telling 3 different tech support agents exactly what setting they had to adjust for me (having worked for another telco provider earlier in my career I could tell them the Home MSA needed to be corrected from Sydney to Brisbane) they insisted that it was my iphone causing the issue, talking me through the settings twice (once again despite me advising this had already been done by the previous person and found to be useless). I submitted two complaints via the website, the second of which asked for a supervisor to contact me as I was getting nowhere, and had both closed asking me to call, despite there being wait times of over an hour on the helpdesk. Considering I am in the market to upgrade both my wifes and my phones at present, voda is doing everything in their power to push me to another carrier. Very Very disgruntled customer.

I have spoken to the Indian Lara, our call got cut off. She tried to call me back, once and couldn't get through. So she sent a text saying she couldn't get through. Is this Lara bird just stupid ? or is the service level and urgency for issues set to zero ?

But of course, my service has been cut off because I missed a payment by a couple of days and yet I cannot get a slowdafone person to call me and sort out anything.

Email via the official site get the response, "We haven't heard from you again so we are changing the status to fixed"

I think I going to break my contract by not paying and let them take me to court. I worked for Telstra for 4.5 years in I.T, there is no excuse. I did NOT sign up to this product and I wont pay for what I got.

I tried to sign up with vodafone, I gave them all the details they asked for, then a few days later I get a credit check fail, they tell me its because they couldnt contact my workplace, they didnt ask for any of my payslips, and when I tell them I can give them more information, they tell me they cant do a credit check for another month...i mean seriously...their online sign up doesnt allow you to give the details you need to give, coz their system doesnt accept it, and then on top of that, they cant even sign up a new customer....i have a credit card for god sake and a car loan, those werent hard at all to get with a stable job...but with vodafone...to go on a plan is totally F***** up and hard....
5 May 2011 02:57:40 AM: That doesn't sound right. Usually the credit department can overturn any declines. Did you apply through a store or online? When you apply through a store they can submit further information such as payslips to have it approved

Reception is the major issue.
Sick of having to find a particular spot where I can make a call. And then even once the call has connected, if I move one step away the call drops out!
Certainely not worth the money I am paying monthly for a service I do not get!

For the past one week, my SMSs overseas to Nigeria have not been going through on a consistent basis, sometimes I have to send the same sms 2-3 times and follow-up with a call to the receving party. Each time, deduction is made even when the sms has not been received. What's the point? What's also the point of having to follow-up with a call. Screw Vodafone

I've been with Vodafone for over 4 years, and i started to have really bad reception problems mid last year. It's now gotten to the point where i'm thinking of changing to another provider as my manager at work and other people try to contact me and although i'm in Sydney, apparently i'm not available due to the ridiculous coverage.

My 3 sisters, mother and father are also on Vodafone, when i try to call them, it barely ever gets through. My father is losing business as his clients call and can't ever get through.

This is ridiculous, Vodafone. Do something about it now or you're going to lose a whole lot more customers.

Vodafone is truely ridiculous.

4 May 2011 10:44:22 AM: to be honest it's the third last line of your problem that really gets to me too. I had a similar experience. People are generally understanding when telcos have outages or whatever, but it's when they lie about it so extensively that's just totally out of line. "They lie through their teeth". So true.
4 May 2011 03:47:50 PM: My understanding is that the merge of the Voda and 3 networks failed. The companies merged some time ago, but the networks (apparently) merged around Dec 2010).

17657 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 20/10 at 4 May 2011 09:46:50 AM
Yesterday afternoon and last night, for at least 6 hours, I could not receive or make any phone calls at all. My text, internet and email were all working, albeit slowly. I had 2 vodafone phones at my disposal and neither worked for calls, at all.

Not only was I unable to make and receive calls, to anyone, anywhere, my incoming calls were variously directed to my voicemail or just beeping out entirely. No missed or received calls were registered of course, so I would have had no idea who was trying to get through. I know for a fact that at least 3 voicemails were left for me yesterday, between midday and midnight - and yet I still have not received them at 9.45 am this morning.

As I was home alone, and I have no home phone, this was a COMPLETELY unacceptable state of affairs - if there had been an emergency, what could I have done??? No phone calls, from 2 phones.

I have taken screenshots of attempts to call out, and call failures, over a few hours period. Reception bars are fine, no problems there apparently...

This happens regularly to me, probably more regularly than I even realise as there is no outward indication that it's even occuring. I am usually informed by text from my partner that he can't get through to my phone, yet again...

So so so unacceptable Vodafail. I will be trying to terminate my contract for breach - I suppose I have to wait for my phone to start working again before I can call Vodafone though, convenient.
4 May 2011 03:50:26 PM: Immediately ask for a supervisor, and get angry (but do not swear or make personal attacks etc). My experience resulted in permission to terminate.

17656 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 3 May 2011 11:22:46 PM
Never had a problem with Vodafone. So I upgraded.
Surprisingly Vodafone kept an old address that I gave on a prepaid number years ago and mixed that up with my recent address that I signed my contract under. They send my phone to an 6 year old address of mine. One and a half month and 15 phone calls later I'm still waiting for a post office in Brisbane to send my phone back to Vodafone. Since I'm living since years in Sydney I will have to wait another few weeks. It doesn't help to tell them that they made a misstake and they have to get their parcel back. I got asked to call Australian Post and order the parcel back to Vodafone. What I did weeks ago.
I have the feeling Vodafone extended their staff with untrained personal and now it doesn't make sense at all to talk to them.

Suggest you do not delay on this one as fairly soon you will have a black mark against your credit rating.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

4 May 2011 03:57:06 PM: Similar problems. I found that expressing anger whilst staying calm, and politely refusing to speak to anyone other than a supervisor got me there in the end.

Many many hours on hold. Calls to them cutting off (surprise!) and them not calling me back, resulting in call centre and on hold again. Lots of frustrations and friends/family not interested in my storries of woe (come to this site to cry over a virtual beer with fellow sufferers).

I read these comments with a smile - now that I have a fleet of iPhone4's on Telstra that were working and configured as I walked out the store (George St upstairs team are helpfull).

Last week, finally agreed that they will not deduct $2,000 from my bank - let's see if the saga has actually ended!

Good Luck.
5 May 2011 08:40:07 PM: @17655 Straight off the bat at the end of the day somebody accepted the delivery of the alleged phone that has caused a lot of issues. Seems as though if you were out or if that was the process given would you not advise people in the office of your business to follow through with what was needed, that was to reject the delivery of the phone.

No a dig but defaintely your responsibility. Anyway all of that seems obvious I mean in their records they will have instantces of closing/canceling/rejecting the service and it seems to be that this has not been processed.

With out getting anrgy (very important if you get anrgy they will probably focus on the anger like any other human and panic) you should check if they #1 have the record of cancel/closing/rejection. If so then your worries should be minimal. #2 did you ask to close off any auto payments/direct debits/auto credits etc? If so then again you have no worries this will be refunded you just need to ask simply a long the line of............

"hey guys, I asked for this cancellation (or whatever) on.............
Can you please check to see if you guys have received the phone as I have returned this using the bags sent to me on..............
When will I expect to see the refund in my account and when should I call if I have not recieved this?"

If you asked this in a long drawn out story or on anger be expected to not get a result asap most people struggle to get the point if you have not asked simple questions that anyone can understand.

My point to this story is, it's not always the companies fault just make sure you complete the process given and ask questions like timeframes/their processes/expectations. Remember it's easier to work with a person rather than against them.

As a small business who works from home i signed up for the biz plan. I live and work in coogee, one of the most densely populated areas of sydney.

my reception at home is so bad i have resorted to skype to make calls. when i call vodafail to complain their call centre can't even hear me and are always saying "hello, are you there, hello"

i intend on asking for at least 50% of all my bills until the network in coogee is fixed. if they refuse i will not pay any bill, leave my contract and send them an invoice for work lost due to their non delivery of contractual obligations.

these guys a jokers.

17653 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big Time at 3 May 2011 09:10:58 PM
My Iphone gone faulty on Sunday morning, couldn't hear anything from the headset.
Called the customer service, under 28 days warranty I could go back to the store and swap with new one.
Not knowing that the store that I purchased from is 'dealer' store which unable to swap the phone on the same day (required 2-3 days to check and swap the phone), then I called the customer service back, and he advised to go to the Top Ryde retail store instead and he also mentioned that he will put notes on my account explaining the issue.
When I arrived in the Top Ryde retail store, met with 'not so enthusiast' rep, I told them about the iphone issue, without even hade my iphone checked he barely refused to do the swap as I did not purchase the phone in his store. I asked him nicely to check the note in my account, and I even had to make another phonecall to customer service and again explain the situation. I even asked the customer service to talk to the store rep which did not seem interested helping out 'vodafail' customer.
Then the customer service told me that he had put 'authorised note by the manager' to do the swap, but the 'retail' store still refused with reason that that did not comply with the store's policy (How come they have dual conflicting policy in the Vodafail?). Wondering what the point the customer service putting that 'authorised note' in the system if the store didn't even comply with it??? ... really that Top Ryde Vodafail store sucks big time!
Spent 2.5 hours running back forth between 2 stores and on the phone with 4 differents cust services, I gone home empty handed still with the faulty iphone.
At home again I contacted the customer service, told him everything happpened that day, about rejection and poor customer service on Top Ryde store. He promised me to escalate the problem and get his manager to call me back the next day.
Next day I got the manager called me, he told me that he was going to call the Top Ryde store to let me swap the phone. Wait for 5 mins he said okay to do the swap on that store, but I had to do it today.
I told him that was impossible where I just finished work at 6, as would the store. He tried to convince me if I didnt get there today that 29 days warranty would be void which dont make any sense as I was still under the warranty until the next week, and even more I had tried to swap the phone the day before, so I told him back that your threat was irrelevant and weak.
AT the end he said ok for me to go to the store until the end of this week.

It's been just too much bullsh1t with Vodafail!
ps: TIO will contact you soon :)
5 May 2011 08:45:50 PM: This is a legitamate good story that actually makes sense. You did eveything that was asked and were given false promises it seems. I hope things do work out for you mate as this is a painful experience to go through especially dealing with loads of people. A good tip is to try and speak with one person if possible and if the first time it fails ask to speak with managment earlier but hey you defaintely got treated badly here.
5 May 2011 10:12:45 PM: As promised on 1/5/11, someone called me from Vodafone. He asked me about the store details and rang the store. After being held for 15mins, he got back to me and said that the store now has agreed to swap the phone, he asked me to come back to the store today (store closed at 6pm). I told him that didnt make any sense, as I finished work at 6, but I told him that I'd come on Thursday (store closed at 9pm and he said okay.
I also had press him to make sure I wouldnt face any more refusal from the store to swap the phone, and he'd agreed with that.

Today 5/05/11, I come back to the store and met the manager, and still have the same refusal, they refuse to swap the phone with the same awesome reason. I told him I wouldn't come back to the store to be refused if the customer care didnt say that I could come back.

And this is the best part, ... I asked him to call the customer care to put his argument with them, and after 2 mins waiting on the phone he told me "it's gonna be 20 mins mate" ( ha ha ha, now you know how awful waiting to speak to your own customer care).

They had their own argument, but again as the store is the side who can decide, they decide not to swap the phone....

I have no other choice, .. TIO will receive my 2nd complaint....

Don't get mad, get even.

5 May 2011 08:55:23 PM: This is a horrible form of frustration. I just wonder if it will make you feel better and if you could direct your energy towards something more useful. Remember it is a large company you will get more people that are satisfied than annoyed of the service. The problem is some people have insane expecatations and some don't.

For me I research and test the service before diving in. If I was to purchase a Mobile Broadband Stick for example I will check somebody else that has the same service and ask experience before purchasing and entering (like all teleco companies) a contract.

If I am dissatisfied then I would consider what I may have done wrong first then discuss (not argue) with customer service.

I wouldn't make a sticker campaign becasue I am anrgy. I would accept responsiblity and thats that.

Good luck though mate.

The only thing the assistant offered me was a free upgrade to a new plan. Get f*cked. Crazy John's are just as bad, not a good way to keep customers guys!
3 May 2011 05:46:29 PM: we should be recruiting volunteers to hang around near these stores to warn potential customers about Vodafone's woes - these dealers and Vodafone are aggressively marketing themselves to gain more customers, they're struggling to provide a decent level of service to current customers, the last thing we need is more problems.

Just requesting a refund or discount doesn't sound very reasonable. Were you facing issues to justify this? Have you reported the issues to Customer Care who are the correct team to deal with technical and billing issues?

Retail stores cannot apply credits to your account or give you discounts. Otherwise they would be even more flooded than they already are. And you said your bill was due so if you had any issues, why would you leave it until weeks after you received the bill?

Just before easter on my way to work the car broke down, and I was out of credit (prepay) on vodafail, I attempted to recharge using my credit card option, twice (which took forever before I gave up) only getting a "sorry we're having a technical difficulty processing your transaction..." forcing me to have to walk to a gas station to purchase a recharge. All's well so I thought making my needed calls until I got home and checked my bank account details to find that Vodafail have also put in a "Pending transaction" for the attempted Credit card recharge that didn't work. Well its just gone through and I'm obviously not happy about being charged for something that I didn't get. Have just had the bank send a dispute to vodafail to get my money back, and I'm wondering if I'll have any credit left, I wouldn't surprise me if I have all my credit taken. The only thing stopping me from changing carriers is that I'm going through all my numbers and putting them on the phone from the sim card, then a long call to my sis in nz to use up what I've paid for, and then I'm off to Amaysim... I'm going to enjoy smashing that sim card up.

17628 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extreme at 2 May 2011 01:42:15 PM
I live in Cairns where Vodafail barely exists.
After many agonising months of calls and emails, I finally was able to end my contract with no exit fees and return my handset. So I thought, all good, right. Wrong!!!
I have since discovered that Vodafail have taken over $1000 out of my account because they havent recieved the iphone. To be completely honoest here, I had forgot all about it and its been sitting in a drawer.
Now since this has happened, it has put my account into the red, all my direct debits are now being dishonoured (not my banks fault, for once) and its really stuffing up my credit rating.
When I have contacted them, they tell me that it will take some time to work this out and that they sent the bag over a month ago. I doubt this very much.
After I tell them that I find it unacceptable, they then want a bank statement to prove that they took my money in the first place.
I have contacted the TIO who are now getting involved.
If anyone ever thinks that Vodafails deals are too good to be true. Well, its because they are. They give you something, but take sooooo much more.
2 May 2011 04:58:43 PM: good on you mate for going straight to the TIO. =) it's what everybody should do.
3 May 2011 02:03:23 PM: Inform your bank that an unauthorised transaction has occurred on your account. It's their job to secure your money. Unless you've signed something authorising Vodafail to automatically withdraw money from your account in this situation.

17626 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Major Fail at 2 May 2011 12:52:47 PM
I am on a Vodafone Infinite Plan...I could send 1million texts in a day and not be charged any extra than what I already pay. So I find it amusing to be offered free SMS for a day as compensation for the problems of the previous Sunday...that is beneficial to me how ?
5 May 2011 03:09:53 AM: Not everybody is on your infinite plan. What do you suggest as compensation?
5 May 2011 08:03:22 AM: At the second poster, many people have complained here and elsewhere that the FREE text day was useless to them as they are already on plans that offer FREE texts.

Given that information - - what would you suggest?
5 May 2011 04:41:34 PM: To the first response..so are you suggesting that those who already receive free txt were LESS inconveinienced than those who pay per text? I dont see the fairness in offering compensation to a PORTION of your customers who were effected as opposed to ALL of your customers who are effected.

17624 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely at 2 May 2011 11:54:57 AM
I was informed by vodafone that my handset was the reason why I was getting bad reception/dropped calls/talking to robots sounding voice etc. I had a Blackberry Storm so it was at the time a good phone. I upgraded through thier loyalty program (PFT what a joke) and got a HTC Desire HD (What I would consider to be a top of the range phone) and my reception is evn worse. I live in metro Adelaide and cannot get reception in my lounge room. I was at the shop yesterday and could not make a call as I had no reception at all, Then I figured it out. Although I had walked into my local shop, I must have been incorrect as to the placement of said shop, whereas it is obviously located on top of a mountain in a foriegn country where I cannot get a signal.....silly me. In short Vodafone lied about my reception handset issues and tricked me into signing a new contract, issuing me with a new phone (Goodphone mind you) and delivering the same useless reception that I had before. NOT HAPPY!!!

17621 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Super fail. at 2 May 2011 02:46:28 AM
My partner was with them about 4 years ago, and ended up having his bill go through to a debt collection agency after a disagreement over plans. He ended up paying too much and was left with a credit of $400. They're now saying, after a year of trying to get his money back, that they can't find his account. They're so quick to cut your service and send menacing letters if you're a few days overdue, but as soon as they owe you money, it's impossible. I myself left 3 because of a similar thing and am still receiving phone calls from them asking if I'd like to return to them. It's ridiculous that they're even still able to operate as a business. Vodafail indeed.

17620 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 2 May 2011 01:08:09 AM
Only about 4 months into a 24month contract, and where i live (less than 10kms from the City centre), i have one bar of service. I have made a number of complaints about there poor reception, only to be given 3 months free credit, i tell them everytime, i dont care about the money, its the mobile service i want..

What i want to know is, if i was to get an early release from vodafone, or if need-be the TIO, what happens to my iPhone that i pay $14 a month for, will i have to give it back, pay the outright cost, or pay out the remaining months at $14 per month.. any help appreciated.

17619 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic fail at 2 May 2011 12:09:06 AM
I currently have no service and have had none all weekend. This does not only apply to my home but also the surrounding areas. Vodafone sent me an email to tell me that I would have free text all day on the 1st of may due to a previous network stuff up but thseems pretty pointless considering I have no coverage. The only thing I can use on my phone is apps and wireless internet. I even had to ring Vodafone on my land line. Absolute joke.

17618 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MASSIVE FAIL at 1 May 2011 11:44:53 PM
I have a $180 phone Bill!

I never go over my $35 cap and somehow last month I got suprised with an enourmous $180 bill for calls and texts i just couldnt have made! How the hell do i get out of it?!
2 May 2011 12:34:26 AM: $35 is a month to month sim only plan, correct? You're not locked in to anything, just go to another service provider with your account number. Ofcourse, check first that it is only month to month. The current $35 plan is month to month, so I'm guessing it is month to month unless you're on a super old plan.
2 May 2011 01:31:14 PM: but there is 6 month month to month plans, just double check before you do so.

Yes they may have the best deals but how long can you put up with shitty reception, calls dropping out and all the rest. Biggest mistake I've made, wish I knew about this site first I wouldn't be in this mess. Calling them tommorrow to cancel the contract, can't handle it anymore, makes me angry. :@ :@ RAGING WITH ANGER :@ :@

17615 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fair to Middling Fail at 1 May 2011 09:49:51 PM
Thanks to a glitch in the automated recharge hotline, my mum (a pensioner) lost $50 while trying to recharge with a store bought recharge card/bit of paper. She had been trying to recharge with '365 days credit' however the automated phone menu went into a loop every time she picked the option. After several attempts, she hit the wrong button in frustration and ended up with a 30day Flexi plan a day before she set off on a six week trip overseas. She wanted a working phone when she landed back in Australia - she's now lost all her accumulated credit as it expired while she was away. To make matters worse, before hearing her story I had bought her a new Voda branded prepaid as a mother's day gift for when she got back. There is some good news though, I was on the verge of signing up to a 24 month Vodafone contract myself but thankfully now I know better. I think I'm just going to smash the new prepaid, just for the satisfaction of taking one Vodafone handset out of circulation.

It would seem that the only way to take advantage of the 1/5/11 free txt reimbursement is if your credit hasn't expired in the last day or two!!!
