26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have a nokia e63. I am averaging 4 call dropouts per week, delayed sms and mms. Internet tends to run real slow at times and sometimes i cannot get onto the internet. I have also found that when the phone has full coverage at times and try to make a call it keeps saying connection error. Also when others try to ring the phone has full coverage but does not ring but goes to messagebank. I have to switch the phone off and on.
21 Jan 2011 05:46:26 AM: Sounds to me like the mobile tower in your area is conjested your mobile can get the signal but there is no capacity in the system to make or receive a call.

Since I got connected with Vodafone, all my text messages were delayed by hours.

I thought that this is normal, until I was given a phone from work that was connected with another carrier, that I realised that it's not normal and messages should be instant.

I was receiving extremely poor coverage for a good 5 months. This resulted in useless 3G, calls dropping out, not being able to make any calls, text not coming through, voicemails not coming through and constant drop outs. All this and I live on Sydney's lower north shore! Took me over 4 months to finally resolve it which I noted I had to speak to vodafone's "customer support" which i spent over 18 hours on the phone which most of them was on hold. Thank god I contacted the TIO and got out of my contract

13090 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Loss and lack of service at 21 Jan 2011 04:30:18 AM
Hi, during the 2009 bushfires here in victoria (I live in affected area) I had to purchase a telstra mobile sim and call all my work and family contacts that I had a new mobile number as vodafone does not have a call forwarding feature (and their towers being shut down for emergancy use only) on their prepaid mobiles. Now this cost me huge $$ as I work in security and do work for a number of security companies, not only that it also cost me work as well as I was not able to be contacted for 3 days,
I constantly loss service whilst travelling up the hume highway and travelling close to melbourne and melbourne airport and I do not have service on a number of job sites within 50-60 klm's from melbourne. Some times at home in seymour It can take afew tries to make a phone call because service it so low.

13088 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive FAIL at 21 Jan 2011 04:23:17 AM
I tried to cancel a contract with them and when I did I was charged an exit fee of $320 but not told this untill after the cancellation had gone through. once the number and account was cancelled I was told it was due to the handset not being fully paid and so agreed to pay seeing as i had no information to check as all the paper trail was online with stupid electronic billing and direct debit. once paid I was fronted again by vodafone for not paying the bill so tracked down the payment and after weeks of phone calls a a list of useless names they had dropped it only to find out months latter that i was on the hit list of a debt collector and I tried to prove that I had paid it but they wanted nothing to do with it and said to take it to court or payup and they were willing to ring repeatedly. As i was also going for a morgage at this stage I didn't want bad creadit rating and paid it. Luckly what do you know I got the morgage just before a black mark appares on my creadit rating.

13087 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Moving house solved problem at 21 Jan 2011 04:21:46 AM
After putting up with Vodafone for many years on a personal mobile always the latest of handsets including Nokia,Blackberry and Apple we have moved and it works fine in Harrington Park however near Mount Annan Botanical Gardens the service was so bad you had to stan in front or back yard to make a call.
That is a problem are and was reported to Vodafone on many occasions to no avail. It was so bad we had to install a landline. That are also has issues on internet connections with Unwired and Virgin Broadband. Optus barely works in that area however Telstra worked perfectly, Glad though that the company picked up the bill for that phone.
Other poor reception areas Voyager Point near Liverpool on Heathcote Road but Optus has issues there also.

i m on vodafone, prepay in late 2010, lost a mobile phone so bought another prepaid mobile with vodafone branding. noticed where i work signal tend to show 'no network coverage' quite frequently & then sometimes flipped back spontaneously into ahowing 'vodafone au'; tested and found that mobile phone was truly undetectable (couldn't call out or in) when in 'no networkwork coverage'. So convinced myself to buy another phone and occasionally now the signal bars drop off. still not sure whether it because of the former handset or carrier.

13083 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Canberra Dropped Calls at 21 Jan 2011 03:00:05 AM
I live in Canberra, about 10k from Parliament House. Yesterday (20/1/11) three calls to my Vodafone at home from a car service company located 15k away dropped out, with contact only made through fixed line. This is not the first time this has happened; it it the first time I twigged the problem was with Vodafone. Could someone please advise on an alternative service. That works.

13082 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 21 Jan 2011 02:49:50 AM
Been on 3 for 18 months until my wife and daughter recently got iPhone 4s with Vodafail and seemed happy with them. I "upgraded" from 3 to Vodafail - what a mistake! The reception is patchy at best and the iPhone isn't the problem it was fine on 3. I should have either stuck with 3 or gone to the dark side (Telstra). The data rates on Vodafail are appalling. I had better downloads on Edge in the USA. The data connection is so slow that SpeedTest won't even run. Absolutely pitiful. They should be hung, drawn and quartered then burned, buried and drowned. An epic fail.

13081 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pretty Epic... at 21 Jan 2011 02:08:16 AM
Ever had to struggle to send a text within your own home?? And this does not count if you are in some isolated area of Australia... Greystanes (Parramatta-ish) I literally have no reception at times. I had someone call me for an over the phone job interview and she had to call me back 3 times... and I was outside the house for the majority of it to try and "ensure" I didn't lose reception on what was quite possibly the most important phone call I could receive this year. I am told there is some kind of explaination for the poor reception in Greystanes (something to do with repairs of some sort although it was only meant to last for 2 weeks)... I would confirm this with Vodafone but I refuse to ring them at all costs.

For obvious reasons.

Regards,
The idiot locked to you (Vodafone) for another year and a half.

13080 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Infuriating at 21 Jan 2011 01:18:32 AM
Here's food for thought... In this household alone, there are three handsets, each operating on a network run by vodafone... Crazy Johns, 3 and Lebara. We're in direct line of sight with a broadcast tower, yet only one bar, on all three handsets, on all THREE networks? I've contacted 3 about the poor coverage, and all they say is that the issue isn't 'trending' in my area. Me being the only 3 customer in my area. I received the same response when I complained to Voda/Hutch Australia. Crazy Johns run on their network and they get NO reception WHATSOEVER. Lebara are only slightly better.

I dont understand how three networks, running from the same tower can get such crap service.

Vodafone are rubbish.
21 Jan 2011 08:50:11 AM: Line of sight doesn't guarantee reception since it's broadcast at an angle that increases coverage. (think about a spotlight 2 inches from the ground and a spotlight 10 feet from the ground) If it pointed down more, then you'd need 3 times as many towers to achieve the same level of coverage. Pointing up and out more increases the coverage spread.

Can't text to Canada. Was told by the 4th Vodafone service person that Vodafone doesn't have a texting agreement with the second biggest Telco provider in Canada. They only have texting agreements with two providers in Canada. It was suggested that my person in Canada should perhaps change their provider - if we wanted to text each other. Too bad about the person in Canada being under contract to their provider! Yes, and I signed a two year contract.

im using laptop via iphone's tethering at vodafail. I got drops out every 5 to 10 mins. I change my simcard to telstra mobilenet. and their bandwidth so awesome as fast but rip off.

I wish telstra should have the same plans as vodafail, HELLO TELSTRA, Can you fix the plans such us a good price for us? millions people will go back Telstra. Share market will go boom.

Idiot price. Telstra!

21 Jan 2011 08:52:17 AM: Telstra has maintained their bandwidth by discouraging customer usage (rip off pricing).
If Telstra drops it's pricing and millions of people go flooding back then their coverage will go down the tubes as well.

13062 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is classic model at 20 Jan 2011 09:12:51 PM
Last Saturday (15 Jan 11)not unable to call from Richardson ACT to family in Gilmore ACT (same post code area and also on Vodafail), kept getting "net work busy" or "phone number disconnected" messages or nothing at all, absolutely nothing after dialling. One Daughter unfortunately also has VF mobile broadband which is slower than dial up speeds and being recorded for future reference (read evidence for formal complaint). Could not get onto 1555 No. on Saturday or Sunday, got through Monday and got the most inappropriate message from VF about the popularity of their services and how they have so many calls to deal that one should call back later then you get cut off. Same deal if you ring their 13... No.

SO VF can't even be honest with you when they know they have trouble. Raised my concerns (politely but sternly) in person with the VF store in Tuggeranong but they are not in a position to help only sympathise and suggest the phones be set to GSM. (And we are paying for what?????)

I pity their poor employees who have to bear the brunt of consumer frustration.

So sent VF an email and of course you get the auto response in reply saying they will respond in 5 working days.

We will see Eh.

Being losing service like many others. I spent close on two hours phoning support and was very persistent in explaining how I have been let down by Vodafone, I need my phone for work which must be reliable and requested that my contract (9 mths left) be cancelled. The nice girl agreed with me and requested that I just return my hand set. Great outcome.
20 Jan 2011 09:29:20 PM: Great, now you can hopefully get a phone that works!
21 Jan 2011 04:31:24 PM: Got my new phone (same model) today on a different network - works like charm. My advice to others here. Read the comments about being nice and articulate the reasons you believe Vodafone is not providing you the service you signed up for and there should not be too many problems now in being released from contract. The people have spoken.

I cannot express how dissatisfied I am with Vodafone's services to date. I live in the middle of Canberra (Curtin, ACT) and 9 out of 10 calls I make will drop out due to No Service. Quite often my phone will also display No Service and I am unable to even make a call. This is totally unacceptable!!!

To add to my frustration, I tried to activate Direct Debit using myVodafone online, however the system crashed (on 3 separate attempts!) and told me that I should call Customer Service on 1555. After doing this, and finally getting through, the operator told me he could not take my details and I should use the online system. I tried to explain to him that is why I was calling and as he was getting his supervisor to assist when my call dropped out ... AGAIN!!!!

I am only in my second month of a 24 mth contract, but I can tell you now I am going to be doing everything I can to get out of this. I simply REFUSE to pay for a mobile plan that I can't even make calls on!

After moving from Albion Qld 4010 where I had fair VF reception (some patchy calls and data but rarely a dropout) I have now moved to Banyo Qld 4014. Here on my phone I get almost zero reception and MMS arive days late if at all. Data wise I can barely connect to the network with the wireless USB, let alone refresh a website.
I am in the 3rd biggest city in one of the world's most developed nations!! How can a carrier's signal and infrastructure be so terrible? I was with vodafone from 2001 - 2007 and had great service back then. I changed to 3 to get wireless data. No surprise once 3 (hutch) was taken over by VF things went downhill service wise. The move back to VF in 2010 was for larger data use. What a mistake!!

13032 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Stupid. at 20 Jan 2011 12:24:01 PM
Ok.. here goes..

Vodafone cut off my account (i hadn't paid a bill).
Just before this, I'd lost my job. I told vodafone this, and said i'd pay so much a week, blah blah. It was a 49 dollar cap.
They said the best move would be to go to a 114 unlimited cap, so i'd never get a big bill again. I did this, then they cut off my phone.

Few months later, i'd been paying it off, Vodafail referred my accound to NRG Global Solutions (Debt Collectors). Only thing is, they gave NRG my contact phone number: the one they disconnected.

Nrg, when i finally found out what was going on, then demanded about $5000 payment (49 dollar cap pay out would have been approx $1175, $114 cap payout would have been $2735). NRG kindly offered me a 10% discount if I paid on the spot. How nice of them?
Vodafone had not told me they restarted the contract when they changed to a higher cap.

Not knowing what to do, I said i could afford $25 per week, and i'd pay this until it was paid off. I got a job. I changed it to $50 per week, and so on.

NRG told me every time they spoke to me that I would have to pay the full amount, NOW. I said no, (i mean, you can't bleed a stone, right? If i don't have the money, i can't actually pay it), they insisted I take out a loan (after they defaulted my credit file, no one would ever give me a loan again), or borrow it from a friend or family member ('hey dad, can I borrow $5000 to pay off some mean debt collectors?' ...No.)

So, when I was full time employed, I paid their minimum deposit that they demanded before entering a payment plan, and continued to pay off the account.

THEN I discovered the TIO. Ahh, my saviours. Level 1 complaint- vodafone refused to contact me to resolve the issue. Level 2 complaint.. waited, and waited, finally got a call from a lady saying that the acc is cancelled, I owe nothing, however they will keep what I have already paid. Ok, cool. I'm happy with that. They even took the default off my credit file. WOO HOO!

(in the mean time, i'm still getting abusive calls from NRG demanding payment, even though they are well aware the account is in dispute).

Sooo.. a few weeks later, now, here I am, and wow, I look at my debit card statement. NRG have been deducting $101.50 every fortnight, as soon as my pay goes in, they take it out. I hadn't realised. I called them. They said that I had arranged to go into a direct debit. I never do direct debits. I like to see where my money is going. soo... payments were supposed to be suspended 2 months ago due to the complaint, until the account was resolved. they've taken $507.5 without my permission, without me even noticing, when the account had been disputed, and resolved.

Called NRG, they refuse to repay the money. Called the Ombudsman again.. can't get hold of the investigation officer.. grr, just waiting.. VODAFAIL, recall your American annoying abusive debt collectors, make them pay me my money back, and start respecting your customers.
20 Jan 2011 06:23:05 PM: If you haven't authorised those direct debits, or had a court order imposed, Vodafone's agents, if not Vodafone, are in serious trouble.
Not sure of the first place to start- Perhaps Leon Byber at 5AA
20 Jan 2011 06:51:56 PM: Can a court order a direct debit????
14 Oct 2011 04:07:01 PM: I have some questions for you. How did they get your bank account details if you didnt give them to them? They require a signed authority to direct debit and according to you they dont have it. How were you paying your arrangement to them? If the debt was resolved by the TIO then they should have been informed to close the account. You would be entitled to payments made after the date that the TIO / Voda agreed to cancel your account.

Sounds to me like a pile of BS. I bet when you went on the higher plan you received a new handset as well. It would be interesting to know what those payments would be and whether your initial arrangement was going to cover even the basic monthly payment. Lets be clear, Voda dont send good customers to debt collection agencies do they?

Due to all the problems, I decided to switch to Optus (happy I did). After many emails explaining why I did they won't waiver the early termination fees.
They have a proceedure and that a technician is to check it out before I switch.. But it takes over an hour to get through??
Do think I should have to pay the early termination?

Ok, So i have to say this, i myself am a staff member of vodafone, i and the rest of my family and my staff are also on vodafone ( and no as staff we DONT get discounts ) BUT in all honesty to all the people that come into my store every day yelling at my staff, cmon its not our fault, we are facing all this crap as well... So we dont need to keep hearing it from you guys call sales support or somthing, or we are more than happy to TALK to you about it, but coming into the store and yelling and abusing us and calling us names, were trying to help you guys, but we cant do anything about it, Ive had staff wanting to quit coz of it, So next time your in a vodafone store please remember its not our fault we are trying and everything but we will help you if we can.
20 Jan 2011 01:39:26 PM: word!
20 Jan 2011 02:20:48 PM: Thank you, that would mean a lot to Vodafone's customers...but what happens if you go into a Vodafone shop and they tell you they aren't actually employees of Vodafone and they tell you to call Customer Service. You're back to square 1 with no help and depending on "Lara" to try and "help" you...
20 Jan 2011 02:45:20 PM: The staff are representatives and agents for Vodafone. You are happy to sign up new customers and take their money so don't be surprised when customers come back and complain. Customers can't get through the long waits on the call centres so naturally they will come back to the store and complain. Hopefully more customers will do this so that the message gets from the front desk to those higher up and they might actually address the problems rather than just producing a collection of weasel words on their website,
20 Jan 2011 06:29:44 PM: Best to start selling Optus or Telstra and give Voda away.

Apparently now vodafone have 15 days to get in contact with you once your complaint has been lodged?
20 Jan 2011 11:26:20 AM: Taken from the Vodaphone facebook page in response to a query raised there:

Over the Christmas break (up until Jan 10) extended time frames of 15 working days were given to assist with complaints.

Hmmmmmmm............was it Christmas or the sheer volume of complaints??????? You decide!!!!

20 Jan 2011 12:25:33 PM: That's still 3 weeks..
15 business days.
20 Jan 2011 12:43:04 PM: But it does say up until January 10th............so presumably post 10/1/11 it is still 10 working days.............I think!!!!

I have noticed in the last 5 months that the internet on my iphone was running slow and taking over 5 mins to load so it times out. I thought it was my phone?? How wrong I was. In the last two months the internet never loads and i have now had SMS and voicemails coming through 2hr and 3 days later. what the?
My internet usage has been wrong for a couple of months on the bill. I haven't been using the internet so my plan never goes over the plan amount, but shouldn't I have the option to use the 1GB I have in my plan? I'm holding up my side of the contact by paying on-time every month, should Vodaphone provide me with the service I pay for? you lock us in for 2 years and I've had bad service for 6 months of the last 18.... My partner is with Teltra (work phone) and he has full coverage all the time. We only live in west Footscray 7k from the city. This is ridiculous

So about to move to a town where vodafone cannot provide service (i know this i spent a week there with nothing!) they try telling me i can just not with an iphone...so basically i ahve to give up the phone i love coz they cant get their act together! ha? after an hour n a half they offered 3 solutions:
1. drop me to a $29 contract that they will pay till october when my contract ends...sounds good (i can move to another provider without 2 bills) until they say i cant take my number that over 100 people use to contact me on!
2. they will give me a phone that should work....im ive just told you that other friends there with this other phone cannot get reception...so no.
3. they will half my cancellation fee....so i still pay coz u cant provide reception um what!!
This call centre employer was basically saying it was my fault for moving and that i signed my contract for where i live now....um its a mobile phone people move with it! kindly told him that i have the same pain where i currently live...
end result me not happy preparing to call TIO....i want my number my phone and no fee!!
20 Jan 2011 11:37:35 AM: Um, why should Vodafone cancel your contract with them because YOU chose to move to a location where there is no reception? That is your decision, they are not making you move. Option 1 sounds the best for you but Vodafone should not be responsible for your personal situation...

20 Jan 2011 11:48:55 AM: Very little difficulty getting out of the contracts other than my time. Spent 4 hours on the phone with them on the final call of 5. No threats of the TIO or anything needed in the end. They even refunded two months of fees that my wife had paid on her phone.

13021 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Criminal at 20 Jan 2011 07:16:42 AM
After account access troubles for the past month, mysterious password changes, four digit pin changes and my address changing to the house over the road from me on my account I suspected either sheer incompetence or foul play regarding my account. Once I heard about the information leaks I was sure my details had been tampered with so I called Vodafone to confront them about it.

The first operator told me there is no way that can happen, even though I had called the number Vodafone supplied on their website if you suspected your account details had been compromised. I explained that my password was changing almost everyday, locking me out of my account and I had to call and have it reset. Without even looking he told me that my account had not been compromised so I asked to speak to his manager. He transferred me to someone else who without even asking my name told me that my account was not one of the accounts that had been leaked. I told him that I had been advised that any misleading info regarding this matter would result in criminal investigations by the TIO and he transferred me to someone else.

I knew I had someone who meant business this time because I got an Australian on the phone. I explained my situation to them once again. With a few quick key strokes the operator informed me that my account HAD been compromised! He then offered me a months worth of credit to my account! A whole months worth for getting calls from seedy foreign sales people a dozen times a night trying to sell me anti virus software because they have detected my copy of windows is at risk... I own a Mac... I had a copy of Vodafone's privacy statement prepared and read it to him, the WHOLE thing. He then asked how I would like to proceed. I told him that I was mislead regarding the service I would receive on my phone in the first place, lied to about getting full reception at my house and place of work only to get home and NEVER have any - Contract breach on their part number one... I also told them that they illegally sold my information to a third party for which now I am harassed constantly - Contract breach on their part number two.

He then tried to tell me that I am in a legally binding contract and any attempt to nullify the contract would lead to dishonor fees and charges. So I read the letter the TIO had given me to him stating that since the commencement of the contract I had fulfilled my terms completely - paying accounts on time. However the provider of the account HAD NOT fulfilled the terms of the contract in regards to false information and coercion of the contract, failure to deliver the service promised in the contract and suspicion of criminal activity in regards to information provided for use solely by the contractor.

He went down kicking and screaming, but finally voided the contract. A week later though I get a bill demanding I pay an exit fee which I was advised to forward to the officer from the TIO investigating my case. The exit fee is more than I would have paid for my phone and my contract upfront and I have also received an outstanding account bill for minus $976.88 which I have 14 days to pay!

Unbelievable. How do I pay minus $976.88 before I am reported to debt collectors???
20 Jan 2011 09:09:52 AM: Don't worry Vodafone will try to recover the -$976.88 and include late penalty fees as well!!!

You could end up with a massive debt of over -$1000 and still the debt collectors will be notified!!!
20 Jan 2011 10:02:17 AM: HI Mate: Worse still for you, as the case is referred to a debt collection agency, then you will have a BAD CREDIT rating slapped on you by the CRAA. This means you will note be able to get a loan for anything for the next 5 years!!! Please check before its too late for you. I got stung the same way. Great addition for a law suit.
25 Jan 2011 02:56:28 PM: its a credit you retard :) OMG get a clue, maybe if you had been smart you would of not gone yo vodafone
7 Feb 2011 08:13:48 PM: We all realise it's a credit. We just don't know how this customer is expected to PAY this bill before being turned in to the collection agencies. It is IMPOSSIBLE to pay vodafone -$976.88, yet they are billing it anyway. Obviously you didn't read the post correctly. Who's the retard now?
9 Feb 2011 01:10:37 PM: RE: 7 Feb 2011 10:13:48 PM - In relation to the very last statement and question of your post, those answers would actually be you didn't and you still (and no I am not the poster from 25 Jan).

The invoice showing the credit will no doubt have something printed on it saying something along the lines of "no amount to pay".

If the invoice has been sent for a service which has been disconnected, then the person to whom the invoice has been issued needs to contact the invoice issuer (in this case, Vodafone) to organise a refund of the amount by which the account is in credit.

I am in Ghana. A vodafone worker friend of mine advised me to purchase their 3G modem rather than modem of other networks because all networks purchase the service from vodafone and resell to their customers. The rivals cannot give better service than what voda will provide its own customers. Problems: it was giving me EDGE rather than full-fledged 3G; almost always not getting connected and giving RAS Error 618,797 etc. Sometimes will sit around for hours without connection.Disconnect often with annoying message 'firefox is working offline'. There was no support. I threw the modem away when I bought an EVDO modem from another provider. It is superb and has telephone no. of customer support on its brochure which can be reached even at weekends.

13019 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is iphone = ipod at 20 Jan 2011 05:14:40 AM
Vodafail has turned my iphone into a ipod. All those amazing features that made me fall in love with my iphone, are now either not working or to slow to use. I now use my iphone for listening to music, only.

Who is responsable for this? Vodafail acquires 3 mobile, move customers over to vodafail network, but do nothing in terms of infrastructure to support this influx of users. As result, all existing users are left with iphone bricks. We signed up for 24 month contracts based on 3G, which is not being provided. So again, who - not the company name, not the merger, no excuses - who the F*** gave the approval for this merger, without having the infrastructure in place??? They should, no questions, ask be fired.

More to the point, "fixing" this issue is not an acceptable solution. Compensation, at this stage, is a must.

As of today, I am cancelling my vodafail contract and moving to Optus. Telestra has been a joke since it went private and now vodafail is joke. Let this be a lesson, excessive greed (acquisition of 3 mobile, taking on this huge influx of new customers) has blown-up in your face. Best of luck Vodafail - with PR - legals - etc..... for your screwed.
20 Jan 2011 06:55:04 AM: good luck with Optus - numerous black spots with phone reception and slower than dialup internet speeds. At least you should have plenty of songs to listen to while you wait for internet pages to load with optus.
20 Jan 2011 10:52:31 AM: I know that feeling oh so well.. Love my iphone but it's nothing more than a glorified ipod.
Have been on the phone for a week to them.. their answer.. lets give you a new handset! I'll try it.. if it doesn't work.. I'm cancelling my contract!
21 Jan 2011 02:22:17 AM: Yes I am kinda pissed with Vodafone too, but if Vodafone do "fix" this issue, I would be more than happy to stay with them, without compensation (although cheaper rates would always be welcomed!) I just want reception again. I find it difficult to understand how a year ago, I dont think I ever lost reception. Now finding reception is a chore. Fix this, and I might sign up with them again. If they dont fix this within the next 6 months, they have lost me.

I was calling to get information and help on changing my plan. The website did not answer my questions. How is it that whenever I ring, the robot's voice is infuriating, it says that it will connect me to an operator, then doesn't, says you need to answer a few questions first, or even enter your mobile number to continue, continues to ask me questions, talking to this machine for 10 minutes just to get an operator when it finally cannot help me any further, then i'm on hold for 43 minutes. It transfers me to the wrong department, and i'm on hold for another 13 minutes before my call is answered. It cannot help me, most services will at least let you connect to a real person if you say 'operator' enough times, but vodafail is so incredibly infuriating, i'd rather be on hold than talking to Lara anyday. Vodafail has epic fail customer service.

Issues withcall drop outs and very slow network coverage on my phone and frequent dropping out of the 3G network. I rang Vodaphone to complain about these issues and was told to switch to 2G! Am paying for 3G not 2G, Vodaphone offered to give me a $10 discount on my bill which I have never seen. Can't wait for my plan to expire.
19 Jan 2011 11:00:40 PM: Don't give up complain to the telephone industry obudsman TIO. When you bomb out there for about $30 you can appeal to vcat and ask then to examine the fairness of Vodaphone contracts like statements about how many days they have to deliver text messages before they can be considered late. Wouldn't be nice if Vcat change the conditions to say 3 hours or be compensated. I note in previous decisions they have said these contracts should be examined for fairness and legality!

After successfully using Vodaphone for almost a year (with the exception of dropping in and out and my computer telling me the usb is corrupt) my direct debit payment was apparently "dishonored" even though there was no evidence of any problem from my bank account. This meant i was charged an extra 20 dollars for nothing and my direct debit was cancelled. However i wasn't made aware that any of this had occurred so i now have a built up internet bill because they cancelled my direct debit. When i emailed to ask what the hell was going on i got a reply saying the above problem had occurred and when i asked why this had happened i did not get a response.
20 Jan 2011 05:15:08 AM: i also had the same issue with them amonst many other things. when i spoke to customer service and asked them why i had not been notified they're responce was 'we sent you a text' what a joke no texts are working and when i quiried as to why i have not been recieving my bills... they automatically became defensive and it was not the're problem the responce i got was 'well we send them Australia Post is loosing them' really? every single bill?
When i asked about the so called "dishonour" they said.....well we cannot comment on that if the bank disoners the payment we cannot do anything about it
i was very dis satisfied with my call as everytime i questioned something they became very defensie and rude and blamed everyone and evrything else else bar vodafone..
20 Jan 2011 06:29:14 PM: ICAC free SA - it is actually possible that all those bills have been intercepted.
However, if the money was in the bank, at the time of the expected debit, then first, take it up with the bank. If you have not been hit for a fee for this claimed dishonor, and that is extremely rare, then it looks like Vodafone are lieing- what a surprise.I think you bank would be the first step.

I have been a vodafone customer for 14 years!! In this time I have turned most of my friends and family members onto vodafone as well. I have just realised that I have been overcharged by $1200 over the past 24 months due to them charging me for usage that should have been free as part of my contract. Its funny how efficeint they are at emailing and texting the bills, and taking the money out of my account, but do you think they will give back the money that they have effectively stolen.. not likely!!

Oh and if you pay by direct debit, dont bother asking them to delay the payment date for a week, because they will say they have done it, when they havent, and will then charge you a $20 dishonour fee for the privelidge.

also dont bother trying to get data services whilst on international roaming. same thing, after 1 hr on the phone, they say its all sorted then you get to your destination and have no access at all!! But they will gladly charge u upfront!!

Where do you get the email address for the CEO of vodafone?
19 Jan 2011 04:23:58 PM: Not from this site. You will need to contact Vodafone and they may give it to you, or possibly google it. Whilst I do know it, the posting rules for this site prevent me from posting it.
19 Jan 2011 04:27:00 PM: How did you find it out?

12999 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic service at 19 Jan 2011 04:13:44 PM
I had 4 phones with Vodafone used by family members. Luckily one was out of contract and I could get rid of it quickly. Called Customer Care and got the contract expiry dates for the other 3 phones and was told I would need to speak to the Loyalty Team to discuss getting out of my other contracts. I was put through - almost - then waited on line for over an hour listening to the phone ringing - didn't even get a recorded message that I was in a call que. I hung up after spending a total of 1hr and 28 minutes on the line. Called again the next day and logged a complaint and am still on hold waiting to speak to the Loyalty Team as I type - at least this time I have on hold music so am more confident that I will actually get answered.

dear Vodafone. "you have no technical problem, we will upgrade coverage in your area in 12-18 months" is not acceptable. I had acceptable coverage 4 months ago, what went your. I am not paying $79 for your awful customer service and your awful coverage.

What do you email to the CEO of vodafone for them to call you back straight away! Cause I have tried everything and knowone will get back to me! The ten days are now up with the TIO complaint and no contact what so ever!
19 Jan 2011 03:29:12 PM: TIO should have given you a reference number, give them a ring and tell them what you have written here.........they contact/escalate further to Vodafone who in turn should contact you!!

Let us know how you get on!!!!

I hate Lara more than anything else on the planet! She says she is there to help but will not listen to you. I'm sure she is there just to make us all go away out of shear frustration. There are obviously people at the end of the line there somewhere, so why can't they answer the phone. Poor Vodafone, it has obviously forgotten it is a phone company and now concentrates on just making ham sandwiches (and badly too)!!!

I dont even want you anymore vodafone! but im stuck with you for another 16 months! and you want me to pay an $1800 early exit fee for cancelling my contract? Get out of here!!!!!!
You are like a lazy person.. Only giving me reception when you feel like it. if you can even be bothered at all. its not as if im in a country town....Im in greater sydney ffs!
You send my messages to me at random times - if i even get them... and now youre not letting me make video calls anymore? Or maybe its that DUD new phone you replaced my blackberry with! you know, the new N8 that keeps freezing on me all the time? The one thats worth much less than my blackberry! But you still want me to continue with my blackberry plan? and now youre offering a N8 cap for $49 per month unlimited but im stuck with your blackberry plan for $79 a month which is no where NEAR unlimited! Your staff tell me the $225 excess to replace my phone is creditible to my account but not until ive been charged for it... so , i get charged for it and you palm me off to the insurance company telling me i need to contact them! well, i tell you what vodafone you BETTER fix this mess......

is this for 3 customers also now that 3 has merged with vodaphone.
im finding my service worse now and 3 won't do anything about it.
19 Jan 2011 01:30:00 PM: Anything to do with Vodafone is fine!!!!
19 Jan 2011 01:33:38 PM: Do you have any tips to say to 3?
19 Jan 2011 01:42:06 PM: when does it / did it merge?
19 Jan 2011 01:44:52 PM: they already merged probably around 6 months ago they merged.
19 Jan 2011 03:29:10 PM: Three are moving customers off roaming onto Telstra to roaming onto Vodafone to save money on inter-connect costs. This is a fact, when you ring three, tell them that you know this and that they can't change their coverage and still have the contract valid

Vodafone broadband has been actually pretty good this week, but tonight I have to run broadband thru "3" which is my mobile phone through the computer as the vodafone is so slow it's unusable. Pretty good isn't it!

Got a new Sony phone over the website on contract, wouldn't work, went to Vodafone shop, they sent me to the 3 shop. It took them one hour to serve me. Gave me a loan phone, sent mine away for service. Got text message saying "collect". Actually not fixed, just needed to get contract details again. There for another hour. Sent phone away. Got message again to collect. Phone seems to work, apparatly nothing wrong with it.

If you work at Vodafone consider joining a self help group with parking officers and the people who operate mobile speed camera cars.

Am having the usual problems as everyone else; i.e. poor reception, coverage, call drop outs, difficulty is communicating with customer service and technical difficulty departments (was actually told today that the cause of my problem was due to the recent floods throughout Queensland, although he couldn't explain why I had this problem for the last 6 months), then wanted me to provide a list of all the addresses I have been at where I have experienced this problem....???????? What the...?

12976 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Unbelievably. at 19 Jan 2011 12:18:41 PM
I bought a phone outright with Vodafone as I was in between contracts and undecided where I should go next (definitely not Vodafone after this). I purchased the phone from BIG W at Gawler (Northern edge of Adelaide Metro area), yet, I had 1-bar of signal (and often dropped out) in Gawler and NO signal whatsoever in my town (which is 3kms out of Gawler). Why would a product be sold in an area which wouldn't work? -_-
20 Jan 2011 06:35:11 PM: Well, you can expect that of Vodafone- not of Big W.
Then again, selling a Vodafone phone anywhere is questionable, because Vodafone seems to barely work anywhere.
Initially, try Big W- they've had a very good returns policy in the past, and may appreciate the info on Vodafone, in order not to have more unhappy customers.
The next step would beTIO, Office of Fair Trading

I frequently have large blocks of my day spent in enforced silence as I am unable to make any phonecalls. I can't even call my own voicemail (ie: 121) to retrieve any messages. On more than one occasion this has caused material damage, financial and personal in my life. At the very least I want Vodafone to offer to allow me to walk away from my contract without penalty in the final six months of the contract.

12969 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTREMELY FAIL - beyond redemption at 19 Jan 2011 10:23:48 AM
Hate Lara - I think this is the main reason why I get to lazy in complaining.. and I used to inquire before if I can complain by email so that I have a trail never got one. Asked if there are alternatives of bypassing Lara.. wasnt given one.

Called used the return call option - 2 hours+++ before my call got returned.
Called waited for a 5 minute or less discussion with them (as they are clueless on how to resolve my query)... I have to wait for 40 on good days and more than an hour on bad days... hahahha.. I still waited though how stupid could I get?

Billings - which is the topic of my above calls... too many to mention.. and I only look at these when I get time to waste. Usually get a billing adjustment of AUD.. hundreds sometimes.. I wonder if those bills that I havent checked in detail I just made them richer.. oh well..

I could go on but I dont want to waste more of my lunch break at work... posting again next time... I love this site!
