26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9961 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is coverage has stopped at 2 Jan 2011 03:38:08 PM
I took prepaid vodafone as I live inland from Batemasn Bay and Vodafone was the only company from which I could get a signal.. This service has now stopped for some reason and my 2 Vodafone sim cards are worthless from home. Telstra and Optus now both cover the area. I Need coverage as it is a bush area and I need coverage for emergencies.

I will never ever recommend Vodaphone to my friends or family.....I TRY to run a business from home with constant drop outs and poor or no reception.

I fully support the class action that is being taken against Vodaphone.

All i want is the service that i have paid for.

OMG!!! so annoying, I will never go VodaFail again.... and not to mention my bill trippled from changing from 3 to voda, as advised.... even more of a joke... Jo!

9957 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is NOT HAPPY JAN at 2 Jan 2011 03:31:48 PM
services what bloody services....I travel a lot, I was using wireless broadband with Vodafone. I have sat on a roof of a house to get 2 bars just out of Bowen, this was the last time I used my account. Enough is enough at that point I have not paid any more on my account. Tried to use it at queens park in Mackay. This is in the CBD of Mackay. still not one bar. When I am in south east Queensland. At blacksoil, I have to drive 10mins down the hyway. Sit on the side of the road to get 3 bars. If i drive more than 3 mins from most CBD's it's not worth trying to use the net at all.if your east or west by 6min's out side of Ipswich, save the stress and give up. It well not happen. I lose out on my time money ect. The stress of having to use such a lousy services. Makes me look incompetent. This has done my business no good or my self esteem any good. I have in the pass tried to work with Vodafone. to work this out. But get the ok cheek every time. Nothing has fixed it. No I well not pay my contract out with them. To use the services has put my life in to danger, trying to get a few bars to send out jobs and emails. I am not happy JAN

- as a 16 year old girl needing all the money she can get, not receiving a call on new years day to do 3 extra hours work at double time and a half is very aggravating.
- message block up, having to turn my phone off then back on to receive several messages that have been sent to me throughout the day.
- no reception in an area that says is covered on the coverage map
-internet connection is slow at times.
-calls automatically being diverted to voicemail, all the time !!!!

9955 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is 100% fail. at 2 Jan 2011 03:23:48 PM
i am in a 24 months contract which ends in November/December this year. a have another whole year of this.

so my problem is with recieving phone calls. my phone won't ring but it will come up as a missed call. my recieved calls appear on the screen as missed calls. i don't even recieve half of my phone calls and half the time it will drop out or the phone call will just end. and only recently i cannot even call the person back.

also the internet is so pathetic, it takes minutes to load, and only sometimes will it load to an actual page instead of a blank one. plus it always drops out and closes for no reason.

ohh and on new years my phone reception was on and off all night which is very dissapointing.

9954 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is it ruined my NYE plans!!!! at 2 Jan 2011 03:19:35 PM
I have been a 3 customer for a long time now, and just recently noticed three has been taken over by Vodafail. Like many of other customers i had no problems until just recently.
2 days before NYE I had sent out lots of messages trying to confirm last minute details of NYE plans with close friends and family. Including some family from the UK which are in town for a short while. For those 2 days i was so confused on why i hadnt heard back from anyone. Me and my partner thought we must have been really bad or lame party animals and know one wanted to spend NYE with us. I even tried ringing them and I couldn't get through! So me and my husband stayed home for NYE which was very unusual for us. At 10PM NYE I had received 17 messages/voicemail messages with in 2 mins from the last 48hours. All asking what our plans were for NYE ...and where to meet certain people! So THANKYOU for ruining our NYE 2010 plans..what a way to bring in the new Year!!! I am still very ANGRY, and so is my family and friends. Thankyou for ruining it for everyone!
2 Jan 2011 09:47:08 PM: 3 and Voda are still separate networks, and it was a merge, no one bought anyone.
4 Jan 2011 04:23:54 PM: okay yeah thanks...i didnt really know what was going on. Was just trying to explain it the best i could!

I just wanted a provider who would give me talk and text to most countries in Africa but all i was told by VF was that i had talk and text anywhere. I would not have signed up for a two year contract if i had know that i cant talk and text to some countries in Africa. Why couldn't they have told me there is limited countries i can call or text?

9952 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is VERY at 2 Jan 2011 03:17:32 PM
I POSTED THIS IN THE OTHER FORUM HERE IT IS AGAIN:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ANYONE CONTACTING VODAFONE:

1) BEFORE PICKING UP THE PHONE WRITE DOWN THE DETAILS OF YOUR EXPERIENCE AND PROBLEMS IN FULL, AND THINK OF A FAIR SOLUTION (I DEMANDED 12 GIG OF DATA FOR FREE TO COMPENSATE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE TO MY BROADBAND SERVICE)
2) CALL VODAFAIL
3) ANSWER SECURITY QUESTIONS AND GIVE THEM YOUR DETAILS AS REQUIRED
4) ASK FOR CALL OPERATOR'S DETAILS: NAME, CALL CENTRE LOCATION, EMPLOYEE NUMBER (THIS ENSURES THAT THEY ARE ACCOUNTABLE AND THAT THEY WON'T "ACCIDENTALLY" HANG UP ON YOU IF THINGS GET TRICKY, LET THEM KNOW YOU'LL NOTIFY VODAFAIL SHOULD THE CALL DROP OUT)
5) STATE YOUR PROBLEM IN FULL. DO NOT LET OPERATOR INTERRUPT.
6) (OPERATOR WILL NOW COMMENCE MAKING EXCUSES OR DISMISSING YOUR COMPLAINT) AT THIS STAGE YOU CAN TELL THEM THAT THEIR EXCUSES ARE NOT NECESSARY, AND THAT THEY HAVE 2 CHOICES:
OPTION 1) THEY CAN GIVE YOU COMPENSATION (MAKE A SPECIFIC DEMAND AND STICK TO IT: E.G. 2 FREE MONTH'S PHONE USAGE, OR 12 FREE GIGS OF DATA - THINK OF THIS BEFORE CALLING)
OPTION 2) YOU WILL CONTACTING THE "TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY OMBUDSMAN", "THE AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA AUTHORITY", "TODAY TONIGHT" AND "YOUR LOCAL NEWS PAPER". YOU WILL JOIN THE CLASS ACTION WITH LAW FIRM "PIPER ALDEMAN" AND SUE VODAFAIL BECAUSE YOU ARE ENTITLED TO COMPENSATION
7) TELL THE OPERATOR TO GO AND TALK TO HIS/HER MANAGER
8) THE OPERATOR WILL COME BACK SAYING THEY CAN GIVE YOU SOMETHING SMALL (E.G $20 OFF YOUR BILL OR 1 GIG FREE DATA). IF THAT IS NOT TO YOUR SATISFACTION TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE FORCING YOU TO TAKE OPTION 2 AND THAT YOU WON'T ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS THAN WHAT YOU STATED IN OPTION 1
9)THEY WILL GO AND TALK TO THEIR MANAGER AGAIN
10) THEY WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU ASKED FOR AND TELL YOU THEY JUST WANT TO RETAIN YOU AS A CUSTOMER
11) SAY THANK YOU AND THAT YOU APPRECIATE THEM NEGOTIATING AN AGREEMENT, AND THAT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO BE AN "ANGRY CUSTOMER" BUT THEIR APPAULING SERVICE CAUSED YOU TO HAVE TO CALL THEM. LET THE OPERATOR KNOW THAT YOU HOPE NOT TO HAVE TO MAKE THIS CALL AGAIN

IF THEY DON'T GIVE YOU WHAT YOU ASKED FOR IN OPTION BE PREPARED TO TAKE OPTION TWO AND FOLLOW THROUGH WITH IT.

KEEP IN MIND EVERY SINGLE COMPLAINT TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS OMBUDSMAN RESULTS IN VODAFAIL BEING FINDED $190, SO THEY WILL BE HAPPY TO GIVE YOU FREE STUFF TO STOP YOU FROM COMPLAINING. IF YOU RUN A BUSINESS YOUR COSTS COULD BE MUCH HIGHER THROUGH LOST BUSINESS REVENUE - IN THIS CASE DEMAND PROPORTIONAL COMPENSATION, AND IF THEY FAIL TO COMPENSATE YOU ACCORDING TO THE INVONVENIENCE CAUSED THEN JOIN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THROUGH LAW FIRM PIPER ALDEMAN

9950 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Naive at 2 Jan 2011 03:09:54 PM
I won't repeat my own horror stories - its been done by another 9,949 users; i won't, however, forget the time I tried to call my VF mobile to test the audio conf in a business meeting only for it to hit voicemail. fail. made VF look bad. made me look bad for choosing VF. i had 5 bars reception. i was in the CBD. i couldn't believe it...

VF only has itself to blame for its current predicament. Its not the fault of the india call centre or some ops manager in the XYZ office. the current issues are a direct consequences of decisions approved by the highest levels of VHA management - CEO and directors included. It is a story of greed gone too far.

The mobile telephony business has very high fixed costs (network construction, fixed headcount) but low variable costs (each new customer costs VHA virtually nothing except for initial acquisition costs & handset subsidy). Every new customer is pure profit from a network perspective. But there is a limit; at some point, the network becomes saturated and substantial new investment is required.

What VF did...was to misprice their offering. In the pursuit of profit, they tried to play a market share game by discounting. infinity plans for $45 w/ more data than most would need. fail. this is business 101. one can play this game if they have lots of surplus capacity but VF clearly don't. Same trap as optus in 2008 as pointed out in delimiter. VF, don't blame smartphones. blame yourself for offering every person and their dog 2GB, 4GB or unlimited data. if its costs 100s of millions to expand the network - than maybe you're mispriced??

They say you get what you pay for. I think it may be ok for VF to deliver medicore voice/data quality given the pricing. But when no voice/data is actually delivered, than no pricing is appropriate......

9946 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is at 2 Jan 2011 02:28:17 PM
- call failure, calls dropping out
- text messages delayed by a day
- internet slow & unavailable "cellular data network not found ..."
- apology text messages from Vodafone at 4am my time!!
- 107.36 min phonecall (from a landline) to Vodafone trying to find out what i can do/resolve the issue
- couldn't find my street address in the system (spelt it for the 4th time & then asked where the guy was based ..... BOMBAY of course)
- put thru to BILLING, then GENERAL, then TECHNICAL - no issues in my area, apparently my "sim card" might need replacing .....
- they're going to "escalate" the issue for me - tomorrow - because the development system they use to do this is down
- going to call me at 10am tomorrow to confirm a reference for the "escalation" ....... i asked them to take into account i was on the west coast & not to call/message me in the middle of the night
- basically i'm not stoked on being charged for something i'm not receiving & am going to do what i need to get out of Vodafone
- unfortunate because i'm not a fan of the other providers but Vodafone are not leaving me with any other option
2 Jan 2011 03:14:51 PM: That is a lot of problems, hopefully vodafone sorts them out!

I moved to Vodafone because the vodafone online coverage maps showed network coverage in the residential area of Depot Beach NSW (near Batemans Bay). Well the maps are no where near accurate. We have zero service on 3 phones, in fact I have to drive 2 klms up the hill before I can make a phone call... false advertising is my complaint!

9943 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is all the time at 2 Jan 2011 02:12:46 PM
My internet keeps droping out all the time.
The technicians have had me on the mobile for an hour and a half.
Treating me like an idiot.
Going through the steps with me, then basically not blaming that vodafone is to blame for it.
2nd incident, the techician blamed my computer, as i already knew it was the internet from previous experience.
Ive had so much problem with vodafone internet.
As my contract finishes this month.
Im gladly going to another provider, 'cause of the company failing to do what they are signed up to do.
Provide customers with the internet.
I have never been so disgusted in the way that ive been treated.
Ive been paying or no internet for at least 6 months.
Every time at the moment i try to download the internet cuts out.
The same old problem.
I really hope you (Vodafone) fix the problem.
As uve just lost a valued customer.

9939 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is completely. at 2 Jan 2011 01:47:51 PM
I have been fighting with vodafone since October 18th, 2010. they charged me twice ($49 pre-paid) and are denying to have done it, despite my bank records proving otherwise.

Since then I have been emailing back and forth, as actually speaking to someone on the phone proved close to impossible.
I recieved an email stating that since they had not had a responce from me within the past 162 (approx) hours and they will be closing the "case" and marking it as "solved".
To which I wrote back CLEARLY stating that this was not solved and that I had been too busy to deal with the issue at that exact time. Bully tactics.

As this is the second time this has happened, I have left them for optus.

I am frustrated to say the least and just want the whole matter sorted as soon as possible.
The whole thing has been rediculous.

9938 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Making me an angry person at 2 Jan 2011 01:39:48 PM
I have been with vodafone on the same number for 15 years.
High volume business user- Approx $1000 per month- OS calls mostly
They are just a disgrace.
Continual drop outs. OPtus email adresses dont send or receive.
Voicemail recieved sometimes up to 24 hours after message is left
Have been trying to resolve for months.
100's of hours on hold to call centre in INdia.
Have made so many complaints.
Thretened to sue them last week. They told me that they are coonducting a review and if they can not fix problem they will release me from my contract.
This is the next Ansett! This business must go under- It is just not right
2 Jan 2011 01:55:44 PM: I dont think they will go under, especially at the rate they are signing up new customers, besides the less competition, the worse for us consumers. I think they will entangle themselves out of this pickle, just a question of how and when. Staff in store today more open about the issues, and apparently although there are alot of us disgruntled customers, there are even more loyal customers unnaffected or maybe they just dont know any better

9935 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is reception fail at 2 Jan 2011 01:26:03 PM
Reception in my area is very good when I first joined vodafone, I was with them for years before up untill it went wrong. However in the past 2-3 months reception just dropped, I can send messages, but my daughter, who is also on vodafone can't receive them unless she turns off the phone and turns it back on again. my phone has access to the internet but I don't get any reception, not a thing. Stupid vodafone. And even for bad service, i still have to pay a sky high bill, and I barely even use my phone.
2 Jan 2011 02:01:21 PM: heaps of people are commenting on the fact that problems either started or got worse over last 2 or 3 months, lets just hope impending class action may be enough to get them to adress the problems. but lets face it Telstra have the lions share therefore biggest bullies, Optus second biggest bullies although definitely still bullies, and vodafone try but lately they stuffed things up
2 Jan 2011 02:08:25 PM: My choice in mobile networks is not made up by which company has the biggest bullies, it is made by deciding who has the best coverage and performance. With that in mind, Telstra's NextG network wins hands down, followed by Optus, and lastly Vodafone/3.
2 Jan 2011 09:40:11 PM: are you thick? Telstra has the lions share i.e best coverage, followed by optus then voda...
Hey numbnuts, the fact telstra have the best coverage is the reason they get away with being bullies, optusnext best coverage, next biggest bullies

I live approx 20km from a major town and can not get reception on either mine or my partners phone. We lived in the city when we took on the 24 month contracts, and even though they can not provide us with the service we require, we can not cancel our contract with out large penalties.
We recently went to the city for a holiday and stayed at a friends house. And surprise! No reception. Their only issue is that they live in a slight valley. In this day and age, how hard is it to provide decent coverage???!!!

9929 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is hopeless wireless coverage at 2 Jan 2011 12:55:14 PM
Contacted Vodaphone and complained about poor coverage = we only hve access if we go outside the house to the end of the garden! They asked me to follow some of their instructions by phone - in the end suggested that maybe the wireless modem was not functioning properly = went to the local vodaphone shop and purchased another - absolutly no difference! Last phone call to vodaphone - they offered us 3 free months for internet (we alos have 2 mobile phones which are average for coverage, at best). Have tried to call back to get the 3 free months but do noyt have the patience to sit on the line for another 45 minutes.
Surely if you get lousy coverage you should be able to cancel your plan without penalty! Can't wait for the end of the plan in 11 months.
2 Jan 2011 01:15:46 PM: completely agree - i am in Townsville - largest city north of brisbane - live in the centre and can see the communications tower! Hopeless wireless coverage and poor customer service - always promising that it will be better "in a few months". Give us the money back Vodafail! Any other business refunds a citomer's money of the product is faulty! And Vodaphone Wireless is Faulty!
2 Jan 2011 01:26:57 PM: Hey - i'm from townsville too - Annandale - the second largest suburb and close to all the towers! Why don't Vodaphone just start being honest and telling the truth about if and when wireless coverage will ever improve.

9928 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL !!!! at 2 Jan 2011 12:34:18 PM

I'm really sick of not being able to make calls when ever I want. If I see "Call Failed" come up on my screen again I think I'm going to scream. Their technical department has advised me that by turning my 3G enable to off then restarting my phone, I should be able to make calls. BUT I have to do this every 3-5 HOURS!!!
I pay for good service, and should now be free to move to another carrier free of charge because of your pathetic service.
My first call the "customer care" line was 1hr 25mins before i got to speak with someone, and was greeted with "we'll call you back". You could try to call me back, but your service is so pathetic it went straight through to my voicemail, where I was told to call the customer care line on 1555. Great! Another 30mins on hold FROM MY GIRLFRIEND's phone because your reception is too unreliable.
Your customer care guys all sound like politicians, always dancing around the truth.
I feel sorry for them, having to listen to sooo many angry ripped off customers.
Gimme a break, and a refund.

EPIC FAIL

Matt from Penshurst, NSW. Im so sick of the crap service from vodafone, reception is so bad at my house i need to go to the backyard to make a phone call without the call dropping out, i rely on txt messages to recieve my roster for the week which sometimes doesnt come till 2 days later and i need to be contacted at a moments notice for any last minute changes or reports which usually go to my voicemail and that doesnt even notify me till the next day when its too late!!, im on the $99 cap + insurance, i didnt pay all this money to recieve my roster late or to be uncontactable due to crap service, i have 2 gig of data with my plan and half the time i cant use it because it wont connect. I tried to check my account balance by txt as i usually do and most of the time it tells me "This service is currently unavailable, please call 1512 at a later stage" im over it!! if this continues, and they want me to pay my bill then they can TRY and call me, because i guarentee you all they will get is "This person is currently unavaible right now, please call at a later stage"
2 Jan 2011 12:54:44 PM: be careful, dont not pay your bill out of frustration. Sort something out with tio if you brek contract, otherwise they will send debt collectors after you and ruin your credit rating

At Hornsby the other day I had full service (alot of good that is) but I could not make a call recieve a call send a text receive a text or use data.
When I would try to make a call it would come up as connection error. This lasted all day. This was not a phone issue as three people I was with had the same issue with vodafone. We all had different types/brands of phone + 1 i-pad all with the same issue.
The next day same issue so I went to Hornsby Vodafone shop and they said they had about a dozen people come in with the same problem.
Other than that constant drop outs not able to get signal back.
And like most people I have lost money out of this.
I am trying to get my contract cancelled but they are trying to avoid doing that even though they are the ones breaching contract, I wonder how understanding they would be if it I was I breaching contract. I have spoken to TIO and they are on it to.

9924 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is amazingly poor at 2 Jan 2011 12:11:28 PM
Vodafone is a global telco with all the resources in the world to properly supply a well working service. And to be honest for the last 3-4 months it has been nothing but complete utter failure. If I was sitting on the board of that company i would be ashamed with the poor product they supplying to its customers. I mean how the difficult can it be??? Just because of the fact that they acquired Three (which is also a fucking lame excuse of a network) they now running both 3 and Vodafone customers on the same network which obviously doesn't work to the sheer volume of traffic. It's not rocket science... If you are public transport company and decide to buy another rail network you don't simply bloody don't abandon the old one and have all passengers using only one system. Of course there will be congestions, failures and shiploads unhappy commuters. My grandma would have done a better job.
Seriously I hope there will be a massive class action on this stuff up and a public debate on how a Telco conduct their poor business decisions. Go fuck yourself vodfail.

I'm a contractor who works one day pre week at a desk in a building in the city. I cannot receive mobile phone coverage while sitting at my desk for this one day per week. All other workers around me (ie those not with Vodaphone)receive mobile phone coverage. This means I cannot receive or make phone calls for around 20% of my working week which is a significant impost. Stuck on a 2 yr contract.

Ahhhhhhhh..... vodafone are failing to new heights for me....... phone battery died on new years eve, i place it on the charger last night, turned it on this morning and nnnnnooooooooooooo reception!!! no even 1 bloody bar. I traveled down the North Shore train line today... and surprise, surprise. No reception. Anywhere!! 1 1/2 hours on the phone to them... "We'll check network coverage in your area" - all good... Then hell is going wrong... But on the plus side, after i'd expressed my displeasure with there service i was told that after the investigation is complete (and they better not come back and say its a problem on my end) i would be able to get out of my contract without paying a cent... Now the next test will be whether they actually allow me too once they own up their problems...

9921 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Slow internet and calls drop off at 2 Jan 2011 12:03:31 PM
I guess like many, I was not happy with Optus so I switched one of our business mobiles to Vodafone to find their service is even worse. Getting on the internet is slower than basic dial up, calls drop off, and get a message "No service available" In fact it's so frustrating I don't think I will move the rest of the business to Vodafone. If there is a class action why not against all Telco companies in Australia - Telstra, Optus & Vodafone because they are all tarred with the same brush and Government is too gutless to hold them accountable.

I signed up to a Vodafone mobile and USB modem more than 2 years ago while living in Melbournes southeast suburbs and Toorak close to the CBD...service in these areas is good. I now live in Briar Hill (post code 3088) between Greensborough and Eltham. Vodafone signal strength is very low, only 1 bar on 3G and 2G services. I cannot even send small emails through my USB modem internet service. I complained to Vodafone on numerous occasions. Each time tthey said Briar Hill has full 3G coverage, they eventually send technicicans to check the signal in my area and rang me back to say all is fine. I continued to call Vodafone customer service and was finally told Vodafone could not guarantee full coverage and service because I had moved address...but hang on its a "mobile" service. The service should be the same regardless of your location within Melbourne city boundaries and they never told me that when I took out the contract.

9918 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Hi i'm Lara, welcome to vodafail... Where we pride ourselves on treating you like sh*t and taking your money for it. at 2 Jan 2011 11:36:49 AM
Okay.. where do i start. Been with Vodafail for just under one year. Got myself $110 + Insurance unlimited cap on a Blackberry Bold 9000 for business use. Being a Mortgage Broker, my phone is is critical to my livelihood. Now i had cut outs during calls to clients, receiving important emails/messages days late and to top that the blackberry went crazy after a month and the shut down and never turned on...GREAT !!!

Sent the phone to vodafone repair.3 MONTHS later,Blackberry is back... two months later...Phone goes Faulty. Found out from Vodafone that they never repaired the phone and gave me a new Blackberry. 3 Months for a new phone and it's FAULTY too.

Then Moved to Nokia N97 Mini...Same deal. Same Excuse "We acquired 3 and undergoing tower upgrades to better our services" BULLSHIT !!!
2 Months later...Oh Great.... Another Faulty Phone.
Spoke to the head KINGPIN(So they say)Robert from loyalty team. Let's just say i kept him up that night.. CRYING.

One month later got my third phone Nokia X6 seemed like this was the one, was i wrong. I was barely able to make calls from the CBD. Shortly after i dropped my phone and cracked the screen. Got in touch with the Vodafail Insurance.

I was told in the store where i brought my phone that if i made a claim i could upgrade to the phone of my choice. Insurance said i was covered for $1,200.00 but they can't give me the iphone 4.
Why is the iphone worth more the that?
NO... but we can only give you the same phone (Nokia X6)... Plus it's going to cost you $150.00 excess.

SO YOU ARE COVERING ME UP TO $1,200.00 BUT WON'T GIVE ME IPHONE WHICH IS WORTH 600-800 AND YOU WANT ME TO PAY $150 EXCESS... WHAT THE FUCK FOR I SMASHED MY PHONE NOT MY CAR.

2 Jan 2011 05:40:07 PM: upto $1200 if it was lost or stolen in this cause it wasn't, $150 excess for repairing your phone outside your warranty, read your insurance brochure it explains it all
2 Jan 2011 09:10:08 PM: "Let's just say i kept him up that night.. CRYING. "... Wow... you took pride in making another person cry? You sure sound like the bigger man. As for your insurance complaint, I've had to make an insurance claim myself once. The book clearly explains an excess on insurable claims and c'mon mate why should you upgrade to a newer phone when your claiming for a phone of lesser value? This is all in the T&C's and is just common sense. It's like insuring a Ford Focus for $70,000 and then making a claim for a new BMW because 'you paid for $70,000 as your claimable option'.
3 Jan 2011 04:27:50 PM: He didn't cry.. i just said it like that. In the end of the day they don't own up to any mistakes they make and that is wrong. I've called them almost 3 times a week and not once have i had a sorry. Also if you spoke to this Robert guy, you would know how much of a rude prick he is. Did he forget i'm the unhappy customer?

As for the insurance... i know that now because they explained it to me over the phone BUT as i stated i was told otherwise. I'm sorry that i put my trust in people... i guess.

9915 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the worst at 2 Jan 2011 11:06:59 AM
I went on holidays to a coastal town and had no reception, all other networks got reception except for Vodafone!

Not only did they have poor reception in this area but also in Newcastle where I live, my reception can go from being full to none in a matter of meters, I have never had any problems with other companies and I'm definitely never going with Vodafone again! My service dropped out for 2 days one time. Sometimes I have to turn my phone on and off as reception just disappears!

I rang to complain to Vodafone about an abnormally large bill and had to be called back because the lady I was speaking to I could not understand at all! She had no idea what my issue was even tho I explained it in several different ways! Finally a man called me back and told me I would not have to pay my large bill as I was told the wrong information when I signed the contract (I was told I would get $450 credit when I only received $300 ish)

By far the worst company in Australia

I am locked into a 12 month contract with vodafone for mobile broad band at $39 for 6GB. This would be all good if for starters I could get internet where I live. As soon as you go into my suburb you drop out it is ridiculous. On top of that I constantly have to pay a minimum of $150 because they never tell you when you are about to go over your limit. Also I drop out of signal every 5 minutes or so. Vodafone is ridiculous.
4 Jan 2011 04:50:48 PM: Take some personal responsibilty. If I had to pay $150 for only just one month because of going over my limit then I would make sure I know my balance always by checking the usage limit software that comes with the stick AND by using myvodafone aswell.

Given it would seem that a large part of the issue is network coverage/network oversubscription, why hasn't the Government stepped in and put a hold on Vodafone signing new customers? More importantly, why hasn't Vodafone pre-empted such a move and voluntarily done the same? Vodafone should by now have conducted an audit of it's weaknesses in the network if it didn't know already and has the power to update it's coverage maps accordingly!

The reception in my area wasn't good, but the real killer was the utter incompetence of the so called "help" system. Something that should have been a simple online task taking less than a minute took an entire month to achieve. The appalling LARA was the the most frustrating, insulting and inefficient piece of rubbish ever devised, and nothing that I was told, either by the call centre or by email ever happened within the promised time, if at all. I'm still waiting (you get a lot of practice at waiting with Vodafone...) for confirmation that they have finally cancelled what they laughingly call a "service". It's now a week since they told me it would take "between 45 minutes and 5 hours". NOTHING ever worked reliably with Vodafone - neither their reception, the website, the email help nor the call centre. A truly abysmal company all round, made worse by crass PR attempts to insist that customers aren't now being subjected to long waits.

9896 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is business not switched on at 2 Jan 2011 09:14:57 AM
I am puzzled at the number of posters who claim to be in business, consider themselves trapped in their contract with Vodafone, and think they must spend the next whatever number of months losing business.

If they were savvy in business matters they would surely switch to a company that provided proper service and coverage.

True, they will have to make double payments until their Vodafone contract expires. But meanwhile their business picks up, with increased revenue presumably exceeding their payments to Vodafone.

Can somebody explain this non-businesslike attitude? It leave me puzzled.
2 Jan 2011 09:25:46 AM: Yep. I can explain. I'm in exactly that situation, and I would pay double -- my monthly rate with Vodafone is $150. Not willing to pay that for the next 18 months while I'm waiting out my contract. Vodafone is a giant pain in the arse but while dropped calls and lack of signal are frustrating, I'm not sure it's costing me actual $$$ in lost clients.
2 Jan 2011 09:46:52 AM: Actually you most likely have a free way out of your contract. I suggest you contact the TIO (link can be found under the 'how to complain' button at the top of this page), as they have helped sooooooo many people out of their contracts with Vodafone.
2 Jan 2011 09:58:30 AM: people cant afford to pay double contracts you know. im not in business, but there is no way i could afford to keep paying my vodaphone bill plus another one on top of it.
2 Jan 2011 12:12:14 PM: I for one have been 'reassured" more than once that all problems have been resolved and that was by senior management. Where I lost a lot of money was an initiall problem which has been rectified (well sort of) now the latest problems are more of an inconvenience and the issue is paying for unreliable crap infrastructure and why should we pay big penalties to a provider for not putting up with sub standard service?

I signed onto a contract for my mobile (paying exactly double what I had previously on pre-paid) only to find my Balwyn North home had zero reception for all 3 of our vodafone serviced mobiles, nor my partners internet key. We were constantly going to cafes nearer the city, driving up the road with laptops and phones to make calls or do business online. We were told by vodafone we needed to get a booster, as we lived on a hill (??!) however this dismal inconvenience continued when we moved to Edithvale. I recently purchased an internet key in Frankston (why oh why??!!) thinking as it was a mini city there would surely be a tower nearer... aaa nope. It had just been removed. When I went back to the store to attempt a refund, I was re-directed to the ombudsman, as they had to go through the same channels as myself when making service enquiries. I feel vodafone even SELLING their kits in an unserviced area is FRAUD. I had to 'hand- in' an online assignment recently, and couldn't get any bars on my laptop to send it in. I ended up driving around desperately for an hour trying to find reception, and when I'd finally driven halfway to the city, (checking the bars on my laptop all the way)it was already too late, and I lost 10% off my mark. On Boxing Day, I had an online exam for the same subject, and my internet connection dropped out for 20min of the allocated 60min I had to complete the exam. I didn't finish the exam. I currently have zero reception inside my home (as usual) and only switch my phone on when I go out to avoid frustration. I've written to the ombudsman regarding both issues, but cannot do anything about lost marks. Inconvenience and frustration from a basic communication service supposed to make my life EASIER!! My relationship with vodafone ends with my contract this month. Biggest waste of $.

In business it is poor to advertise a service that does not work.....well i thought it is against the law.Obviously some CEO in vodafone must know someone in the Government.....I hope that i am rewarded a lump sum as....Ive lost Business....The innconvienience....the hassle......I will never use Vodafone again ........but if i can get out of this contract that does not work......I will.....Im sure you other people have similar problems like me......THIS IS THE WORST COVERAGE ON INTERNET I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!

A ANGRY CUSTOMER THAT HAS HAD ENOUGH OF VODAFONE & HAS COMPLAINED!!!!
2 Jan 2011 08:44:46 AM: I completely understand your pain when you say the indian operators don't 'understand' what we are talking about.... they don't get us in any shape, way or form... instead they read scripts and say things like "I thank you very much for providing me with that information" or "that is correct sir"

I DO NOT WANT TO BE OVER-THANKED FOR GIVING YOU MY DATE OF BIRTH!!!! INSTEAD, I WANT ANSWERS.

sorry I get a little upset and my heart races when I think about Vodafone now.
2 Jan 2011 09:04:39 AM: Only about $320 to pay until the end of your contract? You cannot put a figure on the amount of business lost over the 16 months?

Surely you should go on paying off your contract with Vodafone, but switch to a provider that would keep you connected and not lose you an untold amount of business.

Yes, this means double payments for eight months - but your improved business might recover the sum written off over the Vodafone fiasco.

Are you really in business?

2 Jan 2011 09:24:39 AM: $320?surely you would recoup that from just 1client, get real

9882 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is to the extreme at 2 Jan 2011 08:13:50 AM
Joined Vodafail in late 90s. Back in the day - fantastic company. Excellent Australian based tech support. Answered quickly and if you were waiting too long (i.e. 10 minutes) and hang up - you would receive a call back within an hour. Good coverage - although a little odd. e.g. didn't get strong coverage in centre of Brisbane but very good in the middle of whoop-whoop. I was on post-paid contract and every now and then they would send me magazine subscriptions, and even a new phone (no contract attached) as a "thanks for sticking with us". Even received "how happy are you" cold calls from friendly Aussie support centre.

Now - very bad. Angry and seemingly unbalanced support centre (although the increased abusive calls they are receiving may explain this). No real support on the phone.

Wireless internet a complete joke. Feel like I was ripped to the extreme. I paid for a wireless internet service that I can't even use! Any complaints to the support system suggest dropping from 3G to the lower level service because it is so slow it won't even load any sites in "high load" periods. Ok - so any time you want to use the internet that isn't 11:00am you can't. Absolutely enraging to be paying for a service that I don't receive. Stop stealing my money V/F! Actually recommended Vodafail to others based on my historical experience. Quick way to lose friends.

Also - you appear to go over caps very quickly without actually making very many calls. Calls appear to be working out at $10 a pop (overgeneralising as a joke - please no flaming about how this isn't possible).

Really sad how it went to shite. It actually did used to be pretty good. Now I wouldn't wish their service on my friends - I would on my worst enemy however. Just to piss them off.

9881 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Lower than crap at 2 Jan 2011 08:11:43 AM
24 month contract with iPhone 4. Lost calls, no voicemail, late voicemail, no 3G Internet, unable to reach customer support, if I do reach customer support it takes well over an hour, then it takes me half an hour to explain faults and they put me on hold, and mysteriously the call ends. Pathetic! I run an upholstery business, with my mobile as contact number, and have lost a lot of prospective customers. Vodafone have let us down!
2 Jan 2011 08:20:15 AM: Business and vodafone do not mix. I have also lost so much work.
2 Jan 2011 08:20:40 AM: FAIL, FAIL, FAIL VODAFONE
2 Jan 2011 08:50:28 AM: under service and competition laws Vodaphone are responsible for any loss of business due to failed service
2 Jan 2011 08:59:59 AM: How do you also explain to friends over and over that you're not ignoring them, you didn't get the message that they called until 3 days later, as your phone never actually rang, or recorded a 'missed call'. I've missed many social events due to this network. Paying for Pain....
2 Jan 2011 09:11:54 AM: Are u sure, does that mean "most painful 5338" is entitled to comp for losses?
2 Jan 2011 10:16:49 AM: But they reckon contract covers them, apparently states that they don't guarantee coverage all the time?
2 Jan 2011 11:12:49 AM: So does that mean under service and competition laws Vodafone are responsible for any loss of business due to failed service?
2 Jan 2011 11:20:00 AM: Vodaphone are fully aware of what's happening and it is solely their responsibility to fix the problem and pay compensation for what they have done...it is in their communications service contract...my contract finished in August and I forced them to compensate my bills by over $1,000 over the term of the contract...they were willing to allow me out of my contract 6 months early....I have been hounding them ever since...they are not game enough to shut me down especially as I have daily logs of their service which will win this class action in court....I persist and annoy the crap out of them...you all should do the same....the issue I am dealing with at present is the Indian Call centre....and why are both free call numbers (1555 & 1557) are out of the country....when at least 1 should be here.....Vodafail I am here to pester you and pester you I will....
2 Jan 2011 11:23:16 AM: I have thought about putting up a booster aerial in my area....but @ $300,000.00 I want my money back from the Telco's who access it....maybe that is an option for people to think about....if enough can band together...anyone with ideas...please display them...we will win eventually....

9880 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unbelievable at 2 Jan 2011 08:08:07 AM
My wife & I have mobile phones as well as wireless internet. We live close to Sydney on the Parramatta and unless we stand out on our balcony we cannot make or receive phone calls. This is also the same with our internet. Our daughter who lives close by and has a contract with telstra has not problem when she visits. Despite numerous attempts to contact Vodafone via phone and fax we have had no reply.

Sick of no signal and drop outs. Called to discuss an issue with my phone, message saying they would call me back with in 25 mins which they did, and then they put me on hold for more than 45mins and I had to hang up so still waiting to speak to someone, how do you get help from them.
2 Jan 2011 08:46:15 AM: email them... it takes longer, but at least you don't have to talk with 1555.
2 Jan 2011 09:02:11 AM: If you log-on to (if you can!!) TIO you can complain directly to the ombudsman, who file a legal issue, which vodafone CANNOT legally ignore, this is the only way to get guaranteed response. Good Luck.

9877 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mostly fail but are others better? at 2 Jan 2011 07:56:37 AM
Started off my hassles in the UK when I was trying to end my contract as we were emigrating to Oz. Sent them a letter as per website, they must have received as they sent letter back, but trying to actually PAY the bill was another story. After numerous calls from UK and Oz to their call centre I think I have paid it off, after being transferred round the houses when I eventually managed to get thru the automated section. Don't know and don't care.
Then ordered an iPhone from Voda AUS. Website wouldn't operated order button on first 2 attempts. Then when I did order it kept changing pages on me and wouldn't let me go back and edit info so I wasn't sure I had ordered. Husband rang call centre to chase - was on hold for 50 mins, transferred between departments until he made one lad look at his screen. Phone was on order and HAS arrived. Miracle!
Coverage pretty crap - keep losing 3G which makes accessing internet and messaging a real pain. I have to keep on resending until it picks up long enough to work. Very poor signal in house now - often 1 bar - luckily I've linked to my wireless.
However, husband's experience with other networks no better so (shrug).

9876 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disappointingly fail. at 2 Jan 2011 07:54:16 AM
I bought a HTC Legend phone from Vodaphone 3 weeks ago (2 year contract)and in the past two weeks have experienced dropping out almost all of the time. I have given up on using it unless it is urgent.

With my Vodafone internet dongle(365 days set up)I have had no connection for about two weeks and I am not even bothering to try to open any applications or downloads as it always times out when I try.

I am using my partner's Optus internet connection for now, and my home phone, but seriously considering going back Unwired as it was one of the best internet providers for my requirements.

I will try to contact the help line today for assistance, but I am really sick and tired of the difficulties.

9875 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is they take your money and make you lose work at 2 Jan 2011 07:53:29 AM
I have never had working voicemail. Never. What I mean by not working is that it always says " Voicemail Unavailable- Could not authorize access". Also has that red circle on the voicemail sign most of the time. They first blamed my phone then they reset (??) my account and then they just said I would need a new phone but it would cost me extra because I wasn't due for a new phone. When I was due a new phone I would then have to start a new 2 yr contract to stay on with Vodafone which is ofcourse the last thing I want to do. I have the first iPhone they brought out on the unlimited $120 something plan (which always seems to change for unknown reasons). I work relief at my work and therefore voicemail is really important. I have lost work from my voicemail not working. I have had calls that don't show up on my phone as missed calls and then days later I get a whole bunch of voicemails come through if I call 121. Every missed call I get I have to call to check if I have voicemail. If I'm lucky it shows up straight away when I call.
With picture messages I often don't get them until days later.
My iPhone also had a broken sensor from early on which means I often call other people and txt people with my face while I'm on the phone. Not funny if they are work people or clients. I don't know how much vodafone take blame for the phones that go with their plans but it seems ridiculously unfair to sign someone up for a two year plan without providng a phone that can last that long.
At my beach house in Robe SA I have on occasion one DOT, not bar, of reception, within the house. This is if I have my phone placed on the pool table and the other night I was lucky enough to have it fall off so now my screen if cracked. Not even tempted to get it fixed as the sensor is broken anyway and it is the old iPhone.
That reminds me of how it won't let me update to the new iWhatever version is the latest. So obviously then Vodafone can blame my computer or another source for all of the above problems.
March 2011 is when I will finally be set free from Vodafone and I will not ever go back. Sick of wasting my time, losing work and wishing my time away to get out of this contract.
2 Jan 2011 12:27:49 PM: im stuck with them til august :( cant wait to be free!

9869 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Move the problem over! at 2 Jan 2011 06:31:42 AM
This is really funny, network capacity issues are a genuine mobile technology based issue!

If too many people go to OPTUS they'll start having the same problems too, waiting around a year for upgrades to their network to be completed to handle all the extra users!
2 Jan 2011 06:40:32 AM: Its about planning and infrastructure, they havent planned, dont have the infrastructure probably got rid of the engineers as cost cutting excercise, yet aggressively seek more customers
2 Jan 2011 07:35:43 AM: shouldnt these big companies have some idea of their capacity? Shouldnt they stop taking on new customers once they reach that capacity, and once they upgrade their infrastructure, then take on more customers? Instead they seem to agressively advertise.

9867 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Could Be Anybody! at 2 Jan 2011 06:26:27 AM

I CHALLENGE you all to go to your OPTUS store and your Telstra Store and ask them if they can guarantee that they never have network capacity issues or problems with coverage to you.

Of course they may have better or worse resolution processes, but it's really about just being connected and having it work!
2 Jan 2011 06:35:45 AM: Could be anybody.. it isnt its Vodafone
2 Jan 2011 07:42:19 AM: It may not be well known, but if you live in a rural area and there are no landlines or land line capacity your local number if provided via the Telstra nextg network. Telstra provide a special mobile box for the home which normal phones can be connected to. We have one and never have a probelm with calls going out or in, there is never a failure and the call centre is in Australia. If Telstra can provide this sort of capacity in their mobile system to do this then in theory there is not reason why others can't.
2 Jan 2011 08:22:06 AM: Too complicated, easier to tell sutomers to reinsert sim
2 Jan 2011 10:23:45 AM: So did anyone actually ask anyone from Telstra or Optus?

9866 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Telstra was worse this time at 2 Jan 2011 06:16:38 AM
Several weeks ago when we had all the rain and storms here in Canberra, it meant my Iinet connection got cut and TELSTRA had to fix the line, a week went by waiting for this to be done by them, then they confirmed that it was fixed via TXT, but it wasn't! After ringing again to point this out they sent out techs to my house, it was discovered that TELSTRA had got lines mixed up and connected me to someone else, and someone else to me, nothing worked cause none of it would sync, another 2 weeks went by and finally it was fixed!

In this entire time I used my Vodafone phone to tether, managed to use up 2gb which is the most I've used on my phone account so far! OoooH Yeaaah!

In this case voda-fail was truly a voda-fix for Telstras' woeful fix! And my Vodafone works fine only had a few issues here and there, had a few delayed txt on NYE but i though that always happened, used to with my OPTUS prepay, and i never thought anything really of it just would except the fact that surely the network would be congested.
2 Jan 2011 06:33:03 AM: Fawlty Towers- Basil was shocked when he came accross his first and only satisfied customer. Didnt know what to do, didnt he want to stuff the customer and mount on the wall?

I can hardly wait until my modem plan has finished and I will NEVER use Vodafone again. This morning I tried logging onto their website and of course it failed. They are offline. I will now have to sit on the phone for a long time before I even get to speak to a human. I am now using pre paid for my mobile and am going overseas for 6 months and I had better not be charged the basic $15 to keep my account which they have done in the past when I was outside Australia. They are dishonest and greedy.

I can hardly wait till June when my contract ends. I found that Vodafone coverage is poor. I was having to go outside and wave my mobile around to try and pick up a network in a suburb where there is supposed to be network coverage! I wasn't even in the outback where you would expect something like this.

Also, I'm fed up with my text messages not being delivered, especially international ones, and then being charged for them.

Voda might not have the best coverage but they are still better than optus, at least i can call voda on 1555 with out any credit on my phone, you need credit to call optus customer service.any old employer let me keep work mobile number and when i ported to voda, Optus changed my old employers phone account to my name without my permition and it took 3 months to get it fixed up.
2 Jan 2011 05:40:08 AM: That maybe but if you need help with your broadband dont bother trying to contact anyone after 8pm as they are closed which is ridiculous!!

9859 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor at 2 Jan 2011 04:57:04 AM
I have been with Vodafone for over 4 years but the last 6 months have been a nightmare. My phone is a critical part of running my startup business and recents issues with coverage and network dropouts mean I can no longer take the risk and will move across to another carrier today. After reviewing my December bill I identified no fewer than 40 calls that needed to be remade due to drop outs mid conversation.
Vodafones response has been appalling they stated when I managed to get through after 57 mins on hold that their network was fine on the same day their CEO issued an apology no less! And to top it off instead of acknowledging all the calls that had to be remade and the associated costs a d discussing how they would compensate that merely tried to convince me I was on the wrong plan and spent the rest of the call trying to upsell me.

I have 6 months to run on an existing contract but we move to Telstra today, knowing while everyones customer service is poor I need to be with the provider with the best coverage. I will deal with the fallout and costs I will incur when I have a phone that connects every time and for the entire call

Vodafone you failure to acknowledge and address my issues through you call centre and refusal to compensate me or even offer to discuss is a factor but the real reason is that you network getting poorer by the day.
