Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

14818 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Extreme Data Fail at 28 Jan 2011 11:41:12 AM
Data service delivery in the Perth area is terrible.. In most instances I am struggling to attain .7mbps down in most locations.. Vodafone really needs to match their plans with what they are actaully able to deliver.. Great to include 1gb of data in my plan.. For god sake can you give me the ability to use it.. Hopefully Apple will bring out an attachment soon for my iPhone that will take an input for a 56k modem.. Voda !! it really is getting that bad !!!..
28 Jan 2011 03:48:27 PM: So this afternoons test in the Osborne Park area nets .38 Mbps down.. Far from the 3G specification and it's been like this for weeks..
3 Feb 2011 03:59:04 PM: And still it goes on !!! Data Fail Fail Fail...
14817 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Unbelievable at 28 Jan 2011 11:15:15 AM
Recently (About 3 weeks ago) I ordered an Iphone 4 over the phone with Vodafone. It had all been arranged and I was aware of all the details of the plan I was agreeing too, I was told it would take 5 - 10 days until my phone arrived. However, when I rang the following day so I could have my tracking number my order had somehow been cancelled, so for some unknown reason Vodafone decided to cancel my order and not notify me of this! So when I asked why the original order had been cancelled I was put on hold for 15 minutes and then the operator says to me, "Okay so I can process that order again for you," I said, "Wait, why didn't it go through in the first place? Thats what I was on hold for 15 minutes waiting to know?" So he replies "I dont know, i'll process the order again."
So thinking Vodafone would get their act together and my Iphone would actually be sent off, I agreed to process my order again - with all the exact same details to my contract. He then told me he would call me in 24 hours once it had gone through and been sent, to reassure me I am getting for what I asked.
Four days later I rang Vodafone - It still hasn't gone through, and no one can figure out why. "The investigation wil take another 24 hours" I was told!
So ringing about every second day now for 3 weeks I keep getting told 24 hours!! I finally decided to ask for the supervisor so I could hopefully get this all resolved and my Iphone be sent out. He is just as hopeless as the rest of the operators and cannot tell me WHY or WHEN this issue will be resolved. He tells me it has been escalated to the highest priority (Ive heard this about 3 times already) and he will call me in 6 working hours once he finds out what the issue is.
A day later I call back to find out what the hell is going on, and surprise surprise, I just got told they are going to figure it out and call me back in 20 minutes. It's been an hour!
It's not the fact that I even want a new phone anymore, Im so sick and tired of Vodafone fucking me around, at this point in time they have stuffed me around so much I just want to cancel my current contract and get the hell out of Vodafone and go with a new service!!!!!
Can anyone help me at all?!?!

28 Jan 2011 12:01:36 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page, you will no doubt need to escalate to the TIO, but follow all of the steps along the way.
28 Jan 2011 01:50:21 PM: If you decide you don't want to do what is suggested. There's a total failure of consideration, contract null and void, rescind the contract based on failure of specific performance. No penalty fees and maybe lodge it with the TIO just to be safe. Shouldn't take long. Make sure you put a block on your credit card or Direct Debit to ensure they don't continue transactions. But I think the advice above sounds pretty good. Good Luck
29 Jan 2011 06:38:12 AM: If it's cancelled there is no contract, tough luck bud.

14814 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very bad at 28 Jan 2011 10:39:20 AM
I am so over the calls dropping out it is drivng me insane. You literally have to be standing in the middle of the street for any decent reception and I live in the south of Sydney which isnt exactly a remote area. Dont lock yourself into a 24 month contract with them whatever you do...
14813 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 28 Jan 2011 10:13:49 AM
I transferred from a corporate contract to a 24 month cap plan, week 1 of Jan. Everything thing seemed to be going ok aside from 20 minute hold times each time I needed to contact VF, then my phone was disconnected for outgoing calls/texts. Contacted VF and a day later phone was operational again.
Its now week 4 of Jan and no sign of the phone. I have called vodafone 4 times now each time to be told someone will get back with the status of the order. Still waiting for that call...
Reading the compalints am pretty nervous about commiting to VF for the next 2 years...what to do...

I think when (if) the phone arrives you can refuse delivery but you must keep Vodafone informed of your intentions, it has a tendency to focus their minds..........just!!!

reception is astronomically appalling, i cannot get reception in my postcode and there is a antenna 300m from my house, i am resinging from vodafone when my credit runs out but i doubt that its going to be useful as i cannot get reception, i thought it was supposed to cover 99 percent of australia. very dissapointed

I cannot register my Commonwealth Bank Credit Card (Master Card) with Vodafone apparently they don't have an agreement with them. How can they not have an arrangement with CBA one of the largest banks in Australia. At least 50% of Australia would have an account with CBA.
28 Jan 2011 10:00:10 AM: That's Vodafone for you!!!
Never easy!!

28 Jan 2011 11:40:41 AM: Pop into a store and they will add the card for you, we do it all the time
28 Jan 2011 03:14:17 PM: its not to do with CBA it self it do with Master Card direct debit cards
28 Jan 2011 10:37:56 PM: Possibly CBA has deemed them a bad vendor. Too many disputes with that vendor's customers.
Also, At present Vodafone may not comply with security requirements.

Were alright as far as I could tell until 23 Sept 2010, after that it was all downhill. ? Merger with '3'.

14809 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTREME!!! at 28 Jan 2011 09:18:12 AM
I first started to realise that I was having problems with my phone a few weeks ago. I only had a couple of weeks to go until my contract ended but decided to stay as they offered such an attractive offer.. Too good to be true I thought so I triple checked the inclusions and went on a 24 month contract again.. BIG MISTAKE!!
I have just received my new phone today but the last week has been horrible. I have not been able to make calls, I can not text, I simply cant do anything and I feel like I am carrying a phone for no reason at all! Incoming and well as outgoing calls can not be made smoothly.
The other problem I had was when trying to upgrade my plan, I was put on hold for over 30 minutes every time I called and then of course I gave up for that day. Tried again the following and the same thing again!! And by the 3rd day, I had used my phone (without the plan that i needed to upgrade to) and they are trying to charge me over AUD$90.00 for calls I have made?? I think if they had picked up my calls and did not inconvenience me so much I probably would not have owed that to begin with as my new contract would have been processed.
Soooo annoying!!! I complained a few times and they've given me a $15.00 credit?? A lousy $15.00 is NOT enough for the time and inconvenience I have dealt with!!

14808 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremely at 28 Jan 2011 08:58:15 AM
I constantly receive complaints from family and employer that they cannot reach me , even when my phone is showing full signal. I have even tested this by dialing my mobile from my landline at home & office. 2 out of 3 calls dont get through, saying "phone is switched off or not available or words to this effect". What rubbish. Also my messages dont arrive till at least 1 hour after sent by sender. Reception at various points in Sydney is also dismal. I have been complaining to Vodaphone since November. Have finally given them an ultimatum. I want to cancel my contract immediatly. Tech support has said that they want to do some further checking first, even though we have exhusted all avenues as suggested by Vodafone, change sim card etc. They said that they need 4 days to check their systems & get back to me. This is from 27.1.11
28 Jan 2011 10:02:48 AM: They normally do get back to you, but hold them to their word and the next time you speak to a rep tell them you shall be going to the TIO.........it has a tendency to focus their mindset!!!

The issue I keep having is calls going straight to voicemail. Ive tried different phones and it keeps happening. It also seems that the voicemails take increasinly long to be received. This is all occuring in full coverage areas. I had a total of 66 calls this month go to VM which I would presume is, compared to total calls recieved quite a high percentage.

Very poor coverage in metro Melbourne and no coverage country victoria. I have 14 months left on my contract. Vodafone advised me to get a telstra sim for when my service dropped out!!! I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone trying to get out of my contract. I contacted the TIO and got a text message yesterday saying Vodafone has granted me a release from my contract due to poor coverage. No fees. and i keep my iphone.

14804 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Overcharged for 2.5 years due to misplaced contract at 28 Jan 2011 08:13:05 AM
Lack of response from Vodafone on a billing issue after calling and visiting their store numerous times. I received a text message from Vodafone that I owed $988. After calling their call centre I was told it was because I had exceeded my data usage and their solution was to block my ability to use the internet. My point to them was how can my bill go from approx $80 per month to $400 - $600 per month with no change in usage pattern, they said due to privacy restrictions they could not tell me what websites I visited which would have contributed to such a huge increase in data. I ended up going into a store who confirmed that the last contract they had on file was from 2006 and that had no data coverage at all. I explained that I did sign a contract in 2008 and was placed on a data plan. As they had no record of this contract, I brought a copy in for them the following day. It turns out they have been over charging me since September 2008, and in addition have been charging for my nominated "Vodafone friend" who I was meant to be getting free calls and text messages to.
28 Jan 2011 08:48:07 AM: Get in touch with the TIO - there is a complaint form on this website somewhere.
I did and problem sorted. Have email from 'Rebecca' stating I owe them nothing and let out of contract without penalties. I have reason to suspect their accounting is not just incompetence but outright fraud, given what they did to me.

7 Feb 2011 07:20:00 PM: Thanks, I lodged a complaint with TIO, heard back today from Vodafone and they are wiping the $1,300 (yep somehow there is another $300 unbilled charge). I'm definately changing providers after this is sorted!!
8 Feb 2011 03:28:56 PM: yes I just had the very same issue for $740 - couldn't explain why or what it was for!! Two weeks of back and forth and I finally logged with TIO - entire amount reversed after call from Syd Resolution centre 5 days after complaint was lodged.
7 Jun 2011 02:00:17 PM: I'm having the same issue, almost to the t so I've contacted the TIO and will see how it goes. Funny thing was is that I asked the 5 people I spoke to at Vodafail if this had happened before to anyone else and they said NEVER. An outright lie, obviously if the posts on this website are anything to go by.

I hate vodphone after they put me in debt 3K ten years ago I vowed never to sign a contract with them again. I have been extremely happy with three for the past 6 years until they have merged with Vodaphone. Since then i have been frustrated by the lack of customer service, staffing problems etc.
I am ready to void my cpntract as I never signed with vodaphone and want nothing to do with cmpany and policies.

14800 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The Biggest Stinker in the teleco cesspit at 28 Jan 2011 07:42:33 AM
I had an issue with a payment in Feb 2009. I made the payment online via credit card, noted the receipt number etc and it took 6 months for Vodafail to acknowledge / find the payment in their system. I called them several times, had assurances the problem would be fixed but nothing happened. Vodafail even suspended the usage of the 3 phones on the account. I called them numerous times, received verbal guarantees of returning my call and not once did that happen. It was only after I informed Vodafail that I had contacted the Telecommunications Onbudsman. Long story short, it took 6 months for them to finally credit the account and I am still waiting on them calling to inform me that the problem has been fixed... I only found out by seeing the credit on the account. Customer service... what a joke.

Recently on holiday in Adelaide (suburb of Glenelg) and Perth (suburb of Sorrento). In both cases in my hotel room I had zero coverage despite being in a capital city of Australia. I had to go outside the hotel building in order to get reception. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable in this day and age.

I've cancelled my account twice after 12 weeks of trying (not that I should have even had to cancel - my contract expired). I've requested some sort of confirmation number each time to confirm cancellation and was given one. Cue celebrations that I'm officially free of Vodafone forever!!! Then I get a bill. And another bill. Eventually I call - "you're account is still active. We have no notes on your account to show anything about a cancellation. Should I put you through to the cancellations department?' What would that achieve?

28 Jan 2011 01:38:40 PM: What a process! I have the reverse problem. Churned to Telstra on 21st Dec 2010 and then waited for a final account. No joy until on the 13th of Jan 2011 a 72 hour final demand turns up demanding immediate payment or additional costs will be incurred. Contacted the Vodaphone internal collections (?) number (1300652952) and was told that this is the one and only form of final bill. WTF!
14797 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Incoming Call Restrictions... WHat thE? at 28 Jan 2011 07:00:42 AM
My phone intermittently 'drops out' and callers hear a message that this phone has "incoming call restrictions" and cant get through to me, leave a voicemail, or even send a text.
At these times my phone reception still shows full network reception. This usually happens for an hour or two then seems to fix itself but is still very frustrating as i need my phone for work and it is a real problem when people cant get through.
I have contacted Vodafone many times about this problem and have received a variety of responses from it being my fault for pressing some mystery button or Nokia's fault i.e. a problem with the handset. It is NEVER a Vodafone problem. As Ive explained to them this happens to me with three different handsets (Nokia N8, 6110 and Ericsson k800i) so Im sure the fault is with the network...
Personally I think it happens when the network is congested.. but they would never admit to that...

14796 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Does not operate in Australia at 28 Jan 2011 05:42:14 AM
Tried to swap a business account to a private at a Vodafone store. They said they are not allowed to handle business accounts. Said even if he could, the system was down and he could not help anyone until it came back up in 20mins or so. He said I had to deal with it through a call centre. He admitted there were none in Oz. In other words, I am not allowed to do business with Vodafone in Australia, only India. I am trying and getting no where. Does Vodafone actually exist???
28 Jan 2011 10:21:04 AM: Vodafone is a figment of the imagination 99% of the time...........best to switch your account to a more professional provider......who does want your business!!!
14795 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is A BIG TICK ON FAIL at 28 Jan 2011 01:02:23 AM
Nothing new, the same as everyone else. Can't make any calls, delay in SMS, meanwhile all this is happening when my mobile indicates full coverage. Seriously,I suspect major hardware failure in their system and some serious issues with their networking devices. Something has gone wrong, and I do not know what it is. Does somebody actually know what is causing all these setbacks?
28 Jan 2011 10:22:34 AM: Suspect it is lack of investment for infrastructure over the last few years and the success of their marketing campaigns.......sadly biting them in the bum now!!!

I am sick and tired of not being able to connect to the so called Vodafone Mobile Broadband service. I'm so disapointed at the level of customer service being provided. I'm constantly getting call dropouts in the city where one would think that the coverage would be better, and it just gets progressively worse as you head out to the suburbs.

27 Jan 2011 11:15:37 PM: @ 27 Jan 2011 11:54:55 PM There is something quite paradoxically ironic that you would suggest posting on here is a boring life when you have done the same.
31 Jan 2011 08:23:57 PM: Hey, they've got a point. maybe instead of getting upset and complaining, you can try to fix the problem. Yeah, I had a problem today, rang through to VF and had to wait on hold, had 3 dropped calls and had to explain my sittuation to 4 different people, but they all tried to help, and 3 of them ended up calling me back. I haven't got the issue fixed yet but they're trying. Why is it that I can go through that without ending up hating anyone or screaming at one of the staff or coming on here complaining, and other people can't. Seriously, it is just a phone. And I understand that people rely on these services, but you should always know that these things are never perfect. You can't honestly say that when you signed up for your contract that you thought every single thing would be 100% perfection. Maybe if you stuck with it, tried to get it fixed without yelling and screaming at the staff, then maybe you'd be having a better experience than what you are having now, without the frustration of having to get all up in a huff.
Please people, don't believe everything you read. I've had my share of problems, but MOST of the stuff in the media is complete rubbish. Some of the journalists are even under investigation. Yeah, vodafone has it's problems, as does any telco (maybe slightly diferent problems to other ones) but seriously, it's not worth getting so angry about.

Over the past 4 months my direct debit should've been setup but NOTHING was coming out at all, they've now hit me with a bill over $1000 which RIGHT now i am in no position to pay, as being made redundant from work, and waiting on centerlink payments to help me along which they stuffed up 3 times due to computer glitch! (Standard) So due to financial hardship and the flooding, I've been forced to contact the TIO. To get the whole amount waived.. The services have been very very poor though. Every time I call vodafone, which is every month, I get shuffled off from this department to that, and then back again, nothing gets resolved, I often get cut off and have to call back, it ends up taking up HOURS of my time and often with little to no success. Terrible!
27 Jan 2011 07:42:28 PM: Delayed voicemail, delayed SMS, network drops out, disproportionate bills to cap and usage, vodafone staff tend to shuffle you from department to the next without ever resolving issues, extremely inconvenient and bad service
27 Jan 2011 07:42:44 PM: I use my phone for work so when messages don't come through - SMS and voicemail - for hours, to days, it affects my livelihood and my professionalism
27 Jan 2011 07:43:07 PM: I am on a $99 cap, my bill often exceeds $1000 even though my usage does not exceed my cap amount (as told to me by a vodafone employee) and I do not download data. I have to call vodafone every month to resolve and only once have I had success. The other times my phone has been barred because I refused to pay the entire amount, thereby forcing me to pay it as I need my phone for work and then ahving to spend literally hours and days of my time energy and money trying to get my money back. It's an absolute disgrace

27 Jan 2011 07:45:59 PM: Is it true that every time you make a complaint to the telecommunications ombudsman it costs vodafone $1000? It seems to be the only way you can get them to do anything, by threatening them with the ombudsman....

14779 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ridiculous!! at 27 Jan 2011 07:31:52 PM
I recently entered an iphone 4 contract with vodafone, and embarassingly it was so high-tech for me that i couldn't even figure out how to make a call or activate it properly. I rang vodafone support from my land line and the operator told me that 'there is a level of assumed knowledge with a high end phone like this one'. i apologised to her for not being born with an innate gift of working an iphone. Indeed, this handset is much fancier than i will ever require. But i do have one question: if this telephone is so fantastically high-tech, why can it not perform a simple task like keep me connected during my telephone conversation with someone?
27 Jan 2011 08:08:30 PM: It is not the phone, the network is the problem.
14778 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 27 Jan 2011 07:30:20 PM
Vodafone WAS a great service and over 10 years ago I went with them as the best alternative over the bigger telcos. Ever 12 months for a few years due to my spend I would get a call asking if I would like a new phone, which at the time I was out of contract and didnt have to resign just continue paying bill month to month. Happy days
Flash forward to last few years no longer speaking to those great original call centre employees, sometimes not ever speaking to a person at all....gotta love LARA who will only put you through to an operator if you swear at her. Or calling and being on hold for 50 minutes just for the privlidge of asking for international roaming to be placed on phone.
Sort it out Vodafone...yes I know I can go to other providers but fingers crossed you get your house in order

14775 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Shockingly bad at 27 Jan 2011 07:13:18 PM
Even though I am within 300 metres of a cell I keep losing the network.
It is so bad now that even Vodafail can't get through to me so they send their monthly accounts to me via my Telstra Mobile phone which I have for country use since there is no coverage for Voda statewide.
I originally went to Voda because they had a good deal on iphones. All I can do with my iphone3g is to use to access the internet via my own in house wireless system and also to play games.
I cannot make calls that are longer than 30 seconds and if I send a text I might get a reply within 3 hours or more.
My contract finishes in July. I will go back to Telstra. It may cost more but at least I will get full coverage.

27 Jan 2011 05:19:07 PM: nice paradox
28 Jan 2011 07:46:45 AM: One time when having an issue I asked to speak to someone in Australia and was told that service is one longer available. God only knows what else is not available.
28 Jan 2011 09:18:33 AM: Why does speaking to someone in Australia make a difference? You think if that were the case they'd drop the phone and run out and install a reception tower in your lounge room? Nothing short of racism to think it would make any difference to your reception.
28 Jan 2011 05:02:16 PM: That isnt a racist remark...I would also rather talk to someone about the reception problems that actually resides in the same country from the one where I am experiencing the difficulties. What happened to common sense?

14766 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Deceitful accounting and usage reports at 27 Jan 2011 03:56:10 PM
No in any more thanks to TIO. If you have made a few attempts to sort out the problem with Vodafail, I urge you to give the details of the problem to the TIO together with the steps you have tried to resolve the matter. This brought about a fairly speedy result for me with payments I made being credited. I would have left it at that, but then the news about their hopeless system security came out and I decided the best thing to do was to exit from contract, which they allowed [by this time they could hardly deny it]. The other thing that annoyed me was that the day before my monthly usage expired they took about 2G out of my usage figures. When I did manage to access these, it looked like I had 2G unused. BUT the next day they were put back and I was charged for excess usage. I can think of no reason other than deceitful and misleading conduct on their part for them to do this. I found this out when I visited a store, because as far as I knew I had plenty of usage left and could not work out what the extra charge was for. The store rep printed this out for me but then changed his mind and crossed out the relevant line before he gave it to me.

14758 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is 100% Fail at 27 Jan 2011 02:56:21 PM
So after experiencing constant dropouts, coverage fails and delayed SMS (great for when you're on call and the alerting uses sms...) I decided to call and lodge a second complaint.
Midway through my phone dropped out, the vodafone customer service rep called back, but because of the coverage dropout it went straight to voicemail. So far they are escalating to their network team, however this has been ongoing since I took up a vodafail service.
I am now looking at a second service with a different provider as I cannot use my phone reliably for work which is 100% the reason I purchased a smart phone with data.
I don't use the data service as it never works, I don't sync my email as it never works (works for all other users on non vodafone), I miss alert SMS's and have call dropouts.
Thanks Vodafone for the quality service!
Next stop will be the TIO and asking vodafone to release me from my contract.

3 Feb 2011 01:19:11 PM: Third complaint has now been lodged and am approaching the TIO today.
I have slight amount owing on the handset so will be pushing Vodafail to let me pay that and to waive the cancellation fee.
The service for the last two days has been dismal in the CBD and in the suburbs where I live.
No more patience for this.

My reception is very poor. I have to go outside my house and move around the yard to use my phone, even then it my drop out. I have tried many other phones and they all do the same. If you use another provider the phone can be used inside the house no worries with out drop out.
I have been with Vodafone for about 12yrs this problem just seems to be getting worse over the last couple of years.
The customer service is shocking. If you manage to get past that machine named Lara all you get is "please hold, I'll pass you over to someone else, unfortunately bla bla bla......"your call is valuable to us". yeah right.
Just got a new contract late last year hope they get better or as soon as its up im out.

27 Jan 2011 02:04:47 PM: After you get a TIO reference number, the carrier (vodafone) has 10 working days to contact you. Don't worry about contacting them, as there is nothing they can do for you until their TIO resolutions team look into it. If they have not called you in 10 working days, contact the TIO again with your original reference number and they will make it a level 2 case.

14749 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Money for nothing at 27 Jan 2011 01:49:07 PM
I signed up to a $49 cap with vodafone in September 2010. Ever since then, the internet connect has been pretty poor. In early Jan of this year, it became almost non existent - It now takes on average 45 seconds to download the google home page and at times it wont even do that. Forget watching any videos on you tube - 'network error' and checking emails - 'unable to load conversation'. I'm pretty reliant on email for work and study and I'm sure I'm not alone. I cant get ADSL at my home so I was hoping to supplement my Telstra wireless bigpond account with the 1.5GB (+ 1GB bonus) data allowance per month by using my phone as a portable wifi hotspot - sounded like a great idea but now I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 MB per day. I called vodafail a few times but like most of you, I dont really have the time to wait on hold for 30 - 60 mins. at a time. I eventually got through and spoke to a man in a call centre who informed me that I should try switching the phone off and on again and see if that makes a difference or try the SIM in another handset - why would I need to try another handset? I have a brand new handset provided by vodafail. He told me that a 'team' of engineers would investigate the problem and get back to me in 4 -5 days....that was 5 days ago. Just sent a complaint to the TIO. I'm tired of being ripped off and I want out.... hello Telstra.

14743 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 27 Jan 2011 01:00:43 PM
I joined up with Vodafone last April and have had some issues with delayed voicemail, intermittently. No missed called alert, just a delayed voicemail either hours or sometimes days late.
2 weeks ago, I had a bigger issue. I suddenly had no reception in my house...for 3 days. I could send and receive text messages, though they were delayed and some never arrived, but could no make or receive calls. At this time I tried all the customer service numbers, but as soon as I indicated that I was having technical difficulties or wished to make a complaint, the call was disconnected. This lack of customer service compounded the problem for me,in a huge way. I went into my local Vodafone store and was told,in the nicest possible way, that they could do nothing.
I work in the emergency services and need to be contactable at all times. I don't have a landline as I work shifts and its just easier if I can be contacted on a single number. I missed several calls for overtime that resulted in me losing a lot of money. So not only was I not receiving the service I was paying for, but the company has cost me a lot in missed earnings.
When I could finally get through to the service department and was told that my problem would be looked into.By this time my phone was working inside again, so of course they found there was no problem.
Yesterday, the same thing happened and when I called the technical department (on someone elses phone so it wasn't a free call) I was told to switch over to the 2G network. This seemed to fix the problem, but I'm not really satisfied as I have to keep swapping over when I'm home and if I forget, my phone is out of commission.
All I want is to get out of my contract. I feel that I have upheld my side of the contract by paying my bill, but I am not being provided with the service I'm paying for, so in my opinion Vodafone is in breach of their side of the contract. Of course its not as easy as this, these companies protect themselves with little thought to the lack of service and inconvenience to their customers.

Vodafail did not meet the TIO's deadline to contact me. So now the TIO has escalated my case. Just barely on my 2nd month on a 24 month hell. I want to exit now! Hold on. Maybe Vodafone was trying contact me all along. They were just unable to BECAUSE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR NETWORK! SUPER FAIL!
27 Jan 2011 01:04:29 PM: this happened to me too... when I called TIO they told me to call the resolutions department and if I have no success to call back for them to escalate my complaint to level 2 - called resolutions and their voicemail box is full - was told to 'try again alter' by Lara. Epic fail!!

14736 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely poor at 27 Jan 2011 12:00:18 PM
I have been consistently experiencing poor data service and drop-out of my voice service (sometimes degraded to SOS service) on various locations along the entire section of the Illawarra line from my home in Engadine into the CBD. I wanted to have my Blackberry Storm unlocked so that I can switch to another provider as soon as my contract expires. The Vodafone store manager at Westfield Miranda who was quite rude, arrogant and unfriendly to my wife and I, told us that he cannot do it and I must go online to have it unlocked. He told us the Blackberry and my wife's Samsung phone would be unlocked for free. When I went online, the Vodafone unlocking site tells me I must pay $25. Either the store manager doesn't know his job, or he was lying to get us out of his shop. I dont expect I will get a response to the email, but hey, I have to try. If this is not resolved in the next week or so, I see little alternative but to join the Vodafone class action suit, and hope that will bring about some real change to Vodafones poor network and customer service.

I now have a TIO reference number, and want to pursue the matter with Voda, but of course, I CANT EVEN SPEAK TO A PERSON. It's just a long hold wait, followed by a messaging service to leave your number for a call back.

27 Jan 2011 10:37:39 AM: My objection is to even having a line to put you through on for TIO matters, which leaves you waiting on hold for an extended period, but whose function is to merely act as a messaging service. This makes the hold time both suspicious and insulting.
27 Jan 2011 11:12:25 AM: They will not talk to you about much until they have used the 10 days to investigate your case. Best of luck either way, but I think you are contacting them prematurely resulting in wasted time for you.

With no coverage at my business (previously reported and for which Vodafone will not do anything), I am now resorting to connecting with some of my customers and suppliers by text using Skype over the internet. I am paying for Vodafail to provide NO service, I am paying for my broadband connection and I am having to pay a small fee to Skype for a service I should have to fuss with. To receive texts, I have to walk 100 metres up the hill for coverage, which I do several times a day to see who's trying to contact me. Calls constantly dropping out but this has become so normal as to be almost commonplace.

27 Jan 2011 09:37:05 AM: Guys, You cant escalate to TIO for anything. the TIO are gonna start getting pissed!. You did the wrong thing by just going ahead and getting a new contract. I mean Yes its a pain how bad the wait times are but you need to try sort out things before you take the leap to another operator. Handset issues are not grounds for contract cancellation. As long as vodafone continue to try and fix your issue with the handset there is nothing they are doing wrong from TIO's perspective. By refusing to pay it all you are achieving is a bad credit rating. Honestly mate your gonna be stuck with this bill now as ill be very surprised if the TIO will help you.
27 Jan 2011 09:43:24 AM: TIO will not get pissed, they are there as a last resort and to try and sort these issues out. He has tried everything with Vodafone, they are unwilling to assist or offer him what they promised, so his next logical step is the TIO.

27 Jan 2011 05:14:19 PM: No sorry 27 Jan 2011 7:03:42. It is a fact that at some point all networks use Telstra infrastructure. Your comment is not helpful and is inaccurate.
27 Jan 2011 05:39:59 PM: No mention of it being Telstra's fault on the website: http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3730
No Telstra customers complaining of the issue on Whirlpool.
Got a link to it on the Telstra website? as you are not supplying any evidence to prove otherwise.

Okay here we go. These guys are total tools. Sign up for a contract, says first 6 months are half price. Yeah cool, right. Get the bill and I am charged at the full rate. Now this is where the fun begins. Spend one hour on hold with that Lara saying "Hang in there, we will be with you soon". How damn Soon Lara??????? Then I call them back in the morning, another 30 minutes on hold before I give up. Then I send them a email. Have they responded? No. Now Im pushing about another 30 minutes on hold. FFS Voda, get it together. Heres Lara saying Hang in there, we will be with you really soon. And they want me to get a Mobile phone of them on Contract as well? Idiots, thats the only words I can use to describe them right now. Absolutely appalling customer service to spend this long on hold when there damn sales lines go straight through.
27 Jan 2011 08:45:09 AM: Over the two hour mark on hold now, Lara keeps lying to me saying they will be very soon. Lara obviously has no damn time management skills as well as being a damn liar at the same time
27 Jan 2011 08:50:21 AM: 2 hours is pretty normal for vodafone .... How they can call it customer service is beyond me :(
27 Jan 2011 09:42:02 AM: Yea, I managed to hold on for 2 and a half hours, and guess what happened "Connection Error". I also checked the email that they responded to and they never even read the thing. Just sent a automated response so to speak. Absolute garbage this is. I will be contacting the Telecommunications authority in reference to this.

Suddenly as of 5pm yesterday (26th) no coverage in Bathurst. Vodafone network not showing up on network searches, nothing on the vodafone website
27 Jan 2011 07:37:37 AM: public holiday.didnt expect it to fix then did you?.
27 Jan 2011 08:37:52 AM: Vodafone fails all of the time (they can't fix it during a normal day so unfortunately you had bugger all chance on a public holiday). Your best bet is to try and get out of your contract and find a real provider. Check out the How To Complain link at the top of the page.
27 Jan 2011 04:47:24 PM: @27 jan 2011 10;37am The issue was fixed as soon as possible. Vodafone had to wait for a TELSTRA failed part to be delivered and installed. Vodafone managed the issue as quickly as they could. Your inane and negative post does not help or illustrate reality. The most applicable phrase is pull your head in um...please.

Clean my SIM with my finger (Its quite well protected in my iphone I think).
Use 2G not 3G? 2 months free? Should be more than that.
Response (Tamra) 27/01/2011 08:10 AM
Hi XXXXXX,
Thank you for your email.
I advise there have been some issues with 3G accessibility in some areas in recent times.
Vodafone are currently upgrading and enhancing the network to resolve this issue, I can advise that last weekend we did launch our new 850 network in Sydney and surrounding suburbs. We plan to have all new network sites installed and running by the end of March.
I suggest that you do a manual reset by turning off your handset, take the sim card out, wipe the copper part of the sim with your fingers, place back in and then turn your phone back on. This will reconnect you to the network and every so often it is a good idea to clean your sim card. Also while work is being done on the network I recommend that you change the settings on your handset to the 2G network only. This will reduce call drop outs and improve coverage as it will stop the phone switching between the two networks 3G and 2G.
Vodafone endeavour to provide only the best service to our customers and we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to you as a result of this issue.
Please be assured that our technicians treat issues such as this as a matter of urgency to ensure that the service is fully restored for all Vodafone customers as soon as possible.
As goodwill a offer I have placed 2 months free access on your account, you will see this credit on your next invoice.
Kind regards,
Tamra

We have approximately 30 company phones with VF. We have all experienced repeated call dropouts. Calls dropout when a SMS message comes through. Voicemail can come through imediatly or up to a day later. We have found we have poor service coverage in City areas. There are constant inexplicable signal dropouts. Directory service SMS's don't come through and when you ring back you get 2 messages directly?!!
I am working to move our companies phone service away from VF as the overall service is well below unsatisfactory and we have all grown sick and tired of it...

14708 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Completely ridiculous. at 26 Jan 2011 10:38:22 PM
Just moved to a new house in kinross. Signal indicator consistantly indicates 3g coverage with fair to good signal strength. You wouldn't know it from the complete inability to send or recieve any form of data. I transferred from 3 to vodafone on the promise that coverage and service would be of the same standard thay I had recieved from 3, as the two companies were in the process of merging. What a mistake that was...
I don't know what avenues I have available to me, but I will definately be exploring all my options now I've discovered that I'm not the only one experiencing these issues.

28 Jan 2011 09:23:49 AM: Wow, did I right this in my sleep? No. I'm the same, live in Kinross, swapped from 3 to Vodafone blah blah blah. I missed a very important phone call on Australia Day that cost me a lot of money. Not happy Jan!
1 Feb 2011 07:49:02 PM: Just up the road and same issues, VAU called me and told me I was in a low signal area, I said "What PERTH? this happens all over not just at my home" they then said "we will ring you back in 30 minutes" Guess what, that was 2 weeks ago, still waiting...
When you DO get through to them, make sure you ask and get their name, ask them to spell it for you as well, also ask them to confirm that the call has been recorded, they are allegedly recording them all, I think this is to cover them when the CSR says things they shouldn't, so you should be able to ask them to get the recording and match the claim and responses.
Oh Candlewood by the way, RIGHT near the comms tower !!!

Continously drops phone calls. I can not have a reception for longer then 20mins without my reception droping
In Gungahlin, i have to attempt to call someone atleast 3 times before i am able to get a line out
I always get Sms late.
I just wish i had a service provider who actually gave me a phone service and not just something that works occassionally

I was with Telstra and had great coverage Australia wide. Switched to Vodafone to save some coin and have had numerous problems with poor reception in many areas incl the CBD, calls dropping out and messages arriving days after they were sent.
I'm beyond frustration and in the process of returning to Telstra.

HALF MY SUBURB does not have ANY 3G reception. It had 3G+HSDPA full bars a few months back (of course it dropped out all the time despite maximum signal). Fail network. Now I have $100+ of credit expiring next month and NO WAY to use it.
