Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

10421 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Super fail at 4 Jan 2011 07:46:11 PM
I just spent 40 minutes on hold to have my call answered and then they hung up on me!!!!!!
10420 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very! at 4 Jan 2011 07:43:27 PM
They have suddenly decided that I haven't paid my bill from September 2010, when my bank account clearly disagrees! I can never get through to customer service and when I do I get different answers from different people, none of who can explain to me what is going on or how to fix it.
Also recently changed the account name - it was the most complicated, drawn out and ridiculously frustrating process I have been through.

10419 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No reception at 4 Jan 2011 07:34:25 PM
All three of my daughters and myself have vodaphone. We loved the prices and the service. But we cannot use our phones at our home. The only way to stop the drop outs is to put the phone on a surface and use speaker to talk. You only have to touch the phone to lose reception. We are in a major town in north Qld and should not have these problems. We can see the tower from our house.
4 Jan 2011 07:35:32 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' tab at the top of the page, seems like TIO may be your best bet. We also need information about your postcode, check out the 'Your Coverage' section to enter your findings.
4 Jan 2011 08:52:37 PM: I also have a similar problem with mine. before i signed up i asked what the coverage was like and was told it was good. seems once i signed the dotted line it changed. i never get reception at my home which is a mojor town in the south eastern suburbs of melbourne.
4 Jan 2011 08:58:05 PM: Thats ridiculous, you obviously need a better view of that tower
4 Jan 2011 08:59:36 PM: Hey heres a thought, I weonder if some of vodas towers are foney (get it) just to give the public the impression they have lots of towers?
4 Jan 2011 09:04:06 PM: hahaha...loving all the vodafone puns atm. As funny as that sounds, i'm sure voda would do better just spending the money on real towers than building fake ones to give an erroneous impression. More likely that they are just overcapacity.
10418 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very very poor at 4 Jan 2011 07:34:12 PM
i have extreme diffulty making calls, pick the phone up and you have full service try to make a call and the service drops out to sos, when you finely get through it drops out in the middle of your call this can happen a number of times in any call i make. my internet service is very slow and often tells me i am not in an area to use this service. i live about 10km from the centre of a large QLD city.

10416 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is A mega fail at 4 Jan 2011 07:22:41 PM
Call started at 7:30pm as i wanted to complain about the constant drop outs I've been getting at Sydney Olympic Park. Spoke to a Vanessa for 15 seconds only to get "We're sorry but the office is now closed and will be open again from 8am to 8pm. Thought service faults was 24/7

10415 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very at 4 Jan 2011 07:22:00 PM
i signed up to vodafone and after 3 days of no reception i cancelled they took 6 days to port my number to optus and have now billed me for $1000 early dissconnection fee i have rang vodafone 5 times and was on hold for over an hour each time and no one answered the call at all so i gave up and will now go to ombudsman
4 Jan 2011 07:38:48 PM: Good for you!!! Seems the correct way to do it. Just remember to document everything that was said and when, it could prove useful with TIO!!!
10414 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Unable to Recharge via Web Site-Terrible Support at 4 Jan 2011 07:21:01 PM
Tried to contact support regarding Recharge web site not working. Agreed to an (at least) 30mins callback. 1.5 hours later that sent me an automated callback then claimed to be putting me through to an assistant. The phone rang out. Spoke to an assistant at Floreat All Phones shop 10 mins later - he'd been on hold for 144 minutes!

10411 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Everything at 4 Jan 2011 07:06:33 PM
I rang Vodafone, about 2 months ago to make a complaint and I all they gave me was a $20 discount off my monthly plan. I'm on a $69 per month plan and I'm not even able to use the internet 50% of the time as it's just so slow. The worst part of the service are call drop outs and no coverage around my area which is 15ks to Sydney. I went for a bushwalk in Lane Cove national park and couldn't even get coverage and by the way the M2 was just above me while I was walking and also got lost, google map would not work of course as there was no coverage. I've had it with them, I need HELP, what is my next step?

Of course its taken 3 weeks to get through to someone and i had to go instore for the second time, i have requested a release from my contract.... will definately go to telstra.

I live in Sydney, like 15mins from the CBD - you would think that'd mean reasonable coverage!! But my calls are constantly dropping out! I assume it's just me, and i'm complaining too much, so I ignore it, and get internet thru them as well. CONSTANTLY disconnecting!! Have to keep turning the "pocket wi-fi" modem off, and then reconnect, as it seems to just drop out!
Thanks voda!! I have been a loyal customer for 5 yrs, even convincing friends to join the network...never again will I be recommending voda to someone!!

10408 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Very at 4 Jan 2011 06:52:19 PM
Trying to speak with my daughter in Victoria when she rings us on her Vodaphone is like trying to piece together an oral jigsaw. The conversation is there, then it goes dead, then she rings back, then we have to remember what exactly it was we were saying when the call dropped out. She either wastes money going over conversation she has already heard or else she misses out on something because by the time we work out where we were up to she has to go. Isn't this 2011.....don't feel we have come very far since 1876........

10406 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Crappy at 4 Jan 2011 06:34:58 PM
Saw Vodafones mobile broadband sticks advertised in teh Safeway catalogue - thought they were cheap, so I bought one... I wish I had visited this site before hand... do you think I can get it to work with reasonable speed? Took me 3.5 minutes to load the Age website - thats really high speed broadband! Bought a Telstra stick to replace it, and it was 3 times the price, but at least it works. I was led to believe that Vodafone was a quality netowrk, but how wrong I was.
4 Jan 2011 06:53:21 PM: Moral of the story: never buy, trust or believe anything carrying the Vodafone symbol/word! I have been with vodaphone for over 10 years and ]never had any major complaints. I use my phone strictly for phoning and texting and am on the $49 plan. I have just received a bill for over $300 of data usage that i did not incur.....and all they can tell me is that it is impossible to investigate and that they can give a $30 credit which I don not want!!!!Has anybody experienced similar?
4 Jan 2011 06:57:00 PM: Eeeeeeeek!!!!!!! That is painful!!!! As for the impossible to investigate.....hmmmmmmmmmmm...........I leave you to your own decision regarding that one!!! Check out the 'How To Complain' tab at the top of the page, seems like TIO may be your best bet.
4 Jan 2011 07:13:40 PM: Makes sense to me, give someone a bill that they didnt incurr and accept 90% of it as full and final payment?
5 Jan 2011 01:36:39 AM: Yes, but at least I had the logs on my phone to back me up.Logs they would find really hard to manipulate since the phone is offline most of the time. Actually took a photo of my phone logs today. Not to do with overcharging.
5 Jan 2011 04:26:47 AM: if it is impossible to investigate they have to wipe it...
10403 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is disconnection-worth at 4 Jan 2011 06:22:39 PM
when I tried to ask for the disconnections team the customer care rep told me all about the network congestion caused by three merger. But it would be all fixed ASAP. I asked when ASAP was and he said the end of the month. He then said that I was a valued customer and they would hate to see me leave and all that rubbish. He have me a $30.00 account credit. When I said that I am not interested in an account credit he said he would transfer me through. Put me on hold for 5 mins the came back and said due to a technical problem he cant transfer me and I would have to try again later.

4 Jan 2011 06:06:32 PM: Someone has bought the 'Hellstra' domain name. Maybe you can go there when/if it opens. lol.
4 Jan 2011 06:10:42 PM: I disagree, I am connected to both networks, an I have never had to call Telstra as it has always been flawless. Not even going to mention Vodas network as the other 10,000 people have already said what I was going to say :(
4 Jan 2011 10:17:40 PM: lol Hellstra. i like that XD
Although i have my home computer internet and home phone through telstra for the last 2 years and have had probably 3 problems with the internet cutting out, but when i ring up within about 10-15 minutes they have it fixed.
At least they give service. Unlike Vodafone who dont even answer there customer calls. and think that replacing the sim is the solution for everything

Vodafone Customer Service. No call backs, too busy to talk even after you have been holding on for 40 minutes, line quality very scratchy, no 3G and today 4th Jan 2011, no Customer Service at all!!! "We have a problem, sorry" then line disconnects. Tried 4 times with same answer. Only 6 months to go till my contract ends, I can't wait. Bought a Telstra prepaid to use at work and home because Vodafone has no signal!!!!!!!!

24 Jan 2011 12:58:59 PM: Update. Vodafone have released me from my contract after I contacted the Ombudsman as I have had a previous history on my account of call dropouts etc. I have since transferred to another telco where so far the problems of account stuff-ups are still there but hey at least I have 3G signal now. I still have to receive Vodafone's latest bill so we will see if they are true to their word. I asked them to put it in writing but they said that they do not do that and that they will be true to their word! Time will tell!

Please do not come into a Vodafone store and harass staff!
We understand that there are network issues atm and instore we can try and help our customers as much as we can. But at the same time our only point of contact is sometimes also our customer care team and we have limited resources to help try and fix coverage problems.
Customers need to understand that for example many areas require newer or more towers in order to improve congested network, which is then an issue faced by VHA when there are council petitions to stop their construction from residents. With a growing populations, increase of data use, and the merging of two hugh australian telecommunication companies, there is always going to issues.
The merging of two hugh australian networks will ultimately be of benefit to consumers. VHA are investing literally millions of dollars and increasing the teams of people to try and improve these issues.
But please do not come into a store taking your anger out on employees. There have been several scary instances where i have wanted to walk out on my job because of the pressure customers are putting on staff instore. Employees will be as understanding as possible but we won't tolerate abuse or harrassment.

4 Jan 2011 05:46:52 PM: not your fault, dont condone threats ,intimidation or harasment, but when the network is so overloaded and inadequate taking on shitloads more customers actually makes problem worse. But greedy hierach just want those contracts signed
4 Jan 2011 07:13:03 PM: Entirely agree, you should not have to 'tolerate abuse or harrassment' [sic] sadly when you are the shop window of the company it does happen. People, quite rightly, are very upset. I do however question your statement 'The merging of two hugh australian networks will ultimately be of benefit to consumers'.........I feel convinced it will not happen soon and there will be a very small customer base.........people are voting with their feet.

Over the last 3 days i have been into a store 3 times to upgrade a plan but due to glitches couldn't. I then tried 4 times to upgrade online only to wait 20 odd minutes every time to hear good old Lara tell me that there has been technical difficulties and i would have to call back. Must not want my business
4 Jan 2011 07:14:11 PM: You want to upgrade with this shower??? Brave person.........!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!
10391 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is lines dropping out, not connecting, mob. constantly "searching", customers and family/friends complaining "can't connect". at 4 Jan 2011 05:32:20 PM
I am Sole Trader (with ABN)doing "on-call" Maintenance work. I have lost a considerable amount of income as well as some credibility due to my customers' calls not getting thru to my mobile phone, disconnecting after a few rings or dropping out after a few seconds into our conversation. I have missed out on a number of appointments from my regular customers as well as potentially new customers. I have recently had my phone checked and got a "clean bill of health". It did not occur to me, until recently, that it could be a poor carrier.
I wonder why my wife is with TPG on a mere $20/mth with no contract and has not had ANY problems at all!!!!
Can someone tell me what the procedure is for the CLASS ACTION that I have recently heard of??

I've been billed incorrectly (in my opinion) but every time I try to call Vodafone to go through my bill with them, I get cut off! This is absolutely infuriating as each time I've waited before getting cut off is approximately 20-30 minutes! When I tried the 'call back' option I thought that someone would be ready to speak to me when they rang me back - but no... I waited another 22 minutes only to be cut off again!!! How is this even allowed in this day and age????
4 Jan 2011 10:43:27 PM: thats right in your opinion. which is more than likely wrong likew the rest of the whinging fucks on here
5 Jan 2011 02:28:46 AM: Why would you bother even dribbling this sort of garbage in here? You do understand the website you are looking at and reading and replying to is a complaint site for vodafone customers yeah??

I am currently on phone with vodafail to try and get out of my contract due to missed clients because i receive voicemails days later, sms hours even days later. I was on hold for approx: 15 minutes when someone answered. I thought you little ripper. Was wrong department. He transferred me to another department. After waiting exactly 40 minutes i got a ring tone.. I have now been listening to the ring tone for 56 minutes. thats a total of 1 hour 36 minutes waiting and still counting. Absoutley ridiculous. I used to be with Telestra but brought my 3GS ipone from CrazyJohns who locked me into a 24 month contract with Vodafone. I have tried to take it back to CrazyJohns and they say they are not responsible its a Vodafone fault. There is no duty of care for them but they were quick enough to lock me into a contract

10376 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is i could string cans together to create a better service. at 4 Jan 2011 04:47:38 PM
I have been a vodaphone customer for years... (well over 5 I think) service at one time was pretty good but since i moved to a different suburb i cant get any service that isn't well below par.
I have drop outs on probably half my calls, I am forced to say "hello? are you still there" constantly and walk around my house trying to find a place where someone can hear me.
People constantly tell me that they have been calling for hours and get all kinds of error messages.
an average call takes me three attempts.
Eventually I was given a managers email address as I was so distressed about the constant waits on hold to complain. (the calls would generally end an hour in and still prematurely when the Vodaphone service would drop out and I would be forced to call back and wait in a line AGAIN AND AGAIN... for hours!).
I actually rang to cancel my plan and kinda got suckered into trying a new iphone, mind you this did take waiting on hold for about 8 hours over a few days.
I was told that it would get better, they would offer me a new phone and a two week trial to back out if it didnt improve.
For the two week trial they put me on it was fine. tolerable even.
then it all started again... literally the day after the 2 weeks ran out, the service went back to being horrible. as soon as i tried sending emails saying this wasn't good enough to the manager I could no longer get a response.
I have a nice shiny Iphone4 that cant make or receive calls properly now.
Don't be suckered if they offer you one, its a god damned con job.
I am so angry with Vodaphone that I have warned everyone I know about this companies lousy service and greedy business practices.

Ok first let me say this:
I am a vodafone Customer AND Employee (no - not one of the ones that can fix ur issues or give u discounts) Im not trying to pretend that vodafone has the best reception but god damn its cheap!! You want the best reception? go to telstra and pay $149 a month for what vodafone will include for $79. How come all these complaints only started on that saturday when the phones dropped off. If service is as bad as you all say it is why not complain earlier? Why not try to exit the contract within the first month? Im quite confident in saying that 90% of these complaints are just people trying to get out of thier contracts and get a new phone because they heard it was possible.
Flame me if you want but someone needed to say it.

4 Jan 2011 04:29:21 PM: If you are right, I am in the 10%
4 Jan 2011 04:30:31 PM: I've been with Vodafone for 10 yrs and (apart from its ridiculously slow website and a few bill issues) I have been happy - UNTIL - the last 3 months. Excessive amounts of texts are not being received (but charged) and excessive amounts of texts I send are not being received or being received a day later (and being charged). On top of this - bad reception, calls drop out and even up to a year ago it would distort my voice - like some sort of robot then cut the call off.
I am *NOT* trying to get a new phone out of this - I am merely highlighting and unacceptable issue I've experienced for 3 months now - my contract ends in 8 weeks anyway and I plan to go to Telstra - where yes I will get a new phone - and one that I can actually use!

4 Jan 2011 04:32:24 PM: No need to flame you, as everyone is entitled to an opinion. I personally disagree with you as these people could have easily got out of their contracts before this site existed using the TIO. The only thing this site has done is how other Vodafone users they are not alone in experiencing no coverage, dropped calls, sms/mms arriving hours to days later etc.
4 Jan 2011 04:33:10 PM: *show not how (my bad) :)
4 Jan 2011 04:56:14 PM: OP: Fairly sure others have said what you said, including an article in October with Vodafone suggesting something similar: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/business/vodafone-says-customers-tried-to-whinge-their-way-to-free-iphone-4/story-e6frez7r-1225932587861
What you are saying (and representing yourself as an employee) does not help the situation, but rather shows the chronic 'blame the customer' mentality that has got Vodafone in this mess in the first place. It is true that some people may be using this opportunity to falsely get out of their contracts - but I think many, if not vast majority do have legitimate concerns - ie. experiencing unreliable service.
Which 'that saturday' are you referring to? This website is was started by someone who was a new customer to Voda and experienced issues from the start and complained from the start. This was November through to early December. By the time he made the website, he'd already been put through the ringer by Vodafone 'Customer Care', they blamed his phone, his sim, even blamed him for trying to contact them.
Those others who had been with Vodafone for a long time had no cause to complain until the recent months (throughout 2010 especially later in the year) of deteriorating network service which your company tried to cover up.
No one here is suggesting Vodafone was always this bad - it wans't, which is why it is EXTRA disappointing for the long-time users of Vodafone as they feel betrayed by a company they had supported for so long.

4 Jan 2011 04:58:01 PM: I am not trying to say that SOME customers are experiencing issues. And yeah the hold times are shocking but i dont think anyone could handle the abnormaly high call volumes. All I am trying to say is that ALOT of people are taking advantige of this situation.

4 Jan 2011 05:03:55 PM: "Go to Telstra if you want the best reception"? what kind of idiot comment is that from a Vodaphone employee?
You cant justify not giving someone a service they have paid for just because its cheaper? that's moronic talk if i have ever heard it.
I can see why you work at Vodaphone.
Try calling Vodaphone to complain, you will have to wait in line for hours and probably have to call back repeatedly and tell different people the same information over and over because the goddamn phones drop out.
The way i see it is like this:
If i buy a phone with intention of actually using for what it supposed to be used for and it only works half the time, well i would call that broken.
regardless of the price its broken.
So in my view someone needs to fix it.

4 Jan 2011 05:05:20 PM: Why would customers want to leave a network with a free or discounted phone only to go to a more expensive network?
It has been pointed out time and time again that Vodafone gives customers the best bang for their buck, but since they are not providing that service with no coverage, sms/mms arriving hours to days later, and continual dropped calls, that is why customers want to leave.
It makes no logical sense at all that they would leave for a free or discounted phone as the monthly fees at other providers is way more than Vodafone.

4 Jan 2011 05:08:39 PM: Even if a lot of people are take advantage, Vodafone have only themselves to blame for allowing the situation to get to this point so that there IS something to be taken advantage of.
It's not your fault at all, but I do believe senior management made a big mistake when they decided not to communicate their network update and related outages to customers OR Voda staff..and as a result, staff unknowingly lied to customers. Also, I'm sure a multi-million..neigh, multi-BILLION dollar company, after going cheap and hiring off-shore call centres can afford to hire a few more and deal with this situation more appropriately from now on.

4 Jan 2011 05:36:08 PM: In your mind I am probably the 10%. I Thought due to the fact I signed a contract that I HAD to put up with the lousy coverage. I live in downtown Coolangatta and my mobile internet only gets the "Edge" Or "HUSPA" connection which = One page every 10 mins. The genius who created this site has made myself and many others aware that Vodafone is NOT providing the service of which I signed into, in which case, we would be crazy to suffer on paying for a service that barely exists.
As for the comparisin in networks and vodafone being "cheap"......Perhaps You havent done your research of other companies. Virgin's rates are extremely comparible and they offer fantastic customer service, along with COVERAGE - as I sit here HAVING to use my partners "Virgin" mobile internet as my vodafone does not work at home!

6 Jan 2011 01:13:21 PM: Your statements are ludicrous!!! People are not making this up! I had suffered in silence thinking it was my phone not the network... I have had more than one occasion when I hve had no service and my husband has not been able to contact me and has been worried! I have a baby... it happened yesterday... I had no service for 6 hours but yet I am paying for that! Vodafone is not cheap as you state! I have been with Vodafone for 12 years and stuck with them without comparison as they used to offer loyalty discounts etc... that dies off quite a few years ago and it appears you get better deals prepaid now! So after 12 years I am changing tomorrow... I will not have my baby and I put at risk due to no service!
10371 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL! at 4 Jan 2011 04:14:33 PM
i switched from telstra to vodafone about 6 months ago and have regreted it every day. I may have a full bar of reception and be on a phone call with someone on a land line but half way though our conversation it drops out. This happenes at least twice a day. It ends up costing me because i need to call back when every this happens. I to have contacted vodafone several times, once i was onhold for an hour, and nothing has worked. I get the same notification saying that my network has been lost and i have to search for this which takes time. Its extremly frusting as my job requires me to be contactable. People have complained about trying to call me and apparently my phone is off when i know for a fact hat it has been on! As soon as my contract is up, i am changing from vodafone and i am never coming back!!!!

10370 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very bad at 4 Jan 2011 04:10:47 PM
I was recently given the IPhone 4 as a gift but it's on a Vodafone plan which is cheaper than the other phone providers and now I know why. The signal is terrible, the phone breaks up everywhere, and I live in the Gold Coast - it's not as though its the outback! I am unfortunately locked into this plan for 24 months and don't want to pay for 2 years of bad coverage; very slow internet (when it works) and delayed voicemail. The chances of getting out of this plan seem very slim. I would be willing to pay higher phone bills for a better service. Thanks for setting this up - it's scary to see how many disgruntled customers there are.

10369 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 4 Jan 2011 04:05:43 PM
PLEASE SEE BELOW MY RECENT E-MAIL TO VODAFONE:
I have already made calls regarding the extremely bad network coverage I am experiencing from Vodafone! Some of the problems include constant call drop outs, Messages taking 5+ days to be received if the come through at all ( this includes Voicemail, Text and MMS), Poor Customer Service etc.
I am loosing thousands of dollars in Business due to clients not being able to contact me, or if they leave a message I am not receiving it on time. I have been into the Vodafone stores and no one can help. I had previously tried contacting technical support but do not have the time to be sitting on the phone for hours, until Friday the 31st of December 2010. On this date I first tried calling 1555, from my mobile after waiting on the phone 15mins the call dropped out I tried a further 10 times, only to face the same issue! I then used a landline and selected the callback option, the woman that eventually called me back asked for my reason for calling and I explained the situation, she was going to transfer me through to Technical Support, but she too had Technical difficulties and offered to call me back, I am still awaiting the Call!!!
I then rang and waited on the phone to be put through and finally got through to technical support after over an hour and a half on the phone, to be asked to switch my phone on and off, place the sim in another unlocked handset, which still had the same results poor service only 1-2 bars as measured by the handsets but call failures if calls are attempted!
I then rang again this morning and spoke to an arrogant gentleman, who when I explained that I now wish to terminate the Vodafone contract because of the poor customer service and Poor Network Coverage etc etc etc, he decided that rather than talking to me and trying to resolve the problem he would terminate the call.
I rang back again and after 25mins on hold spoke to another gentleman, he said he could see that I had called on Friday etc I explained I need something done about it sooner rather than later as I return to work tomorrow and need a phone! He said he would try chasing it up and call back within half an hour I am still waiting on the edge of my seat for this call as well!
I have kept my side of the contract agreement, as I have every month paid the $100-$150. As I am not able to use the phone due to extremely bad network coverage I will be terminating my contract and I will NOT be paying any further monies, as I am not getting what I paid for now! I have tried going through the right channels i.e. Technical support, however after talking to some of the belligerent, arrogant staff that you call service technicians, not to mention the unhelpful staff in the Vodafone stores, I wish to terminate the contract! Due to the poor dealing of this situation by Vodafone I have contacted the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, and will be contacting the ACCC.
If someone would like to contact me regarding the Issues I have outlined, please feel free.

Several times a day i go without service! i always get a notification on my phone saying 'network lost' and then i have to spend around 5 mins each time searching for my network. As im doing this i go without receptions. Sometimes i will look at my phone for the time or something and i will have no service! ive contacted vodafone so many times and i always end up being on hold for 30 mins or so and to make it worse, most of the time, my service drops out half way through the conversation. They never call me back and then i just have to waste another half an hour of my work time on hold to vodafone!
Saturday the 11th of December when I had no service at all for a few hours, were they gave us free calls as an apology.

Very poor signal Calls drop out. 3Gnetwork is so slow. Phone is on but calls are getting diverted to voicemail which is frustrating as I think my phone is on and why no is calling me. And the list goes on.
10366 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 4 Jan 2011 03:49:31 PM
Six months ago I started a plan with vodafone with data. At the same time I changed to Vodafone for internet and I live in Manuka so it's not like I reside in a remote area. For starters my phonecalls drop out up to five time a day, some of them business calls. It takes about two hours to drive around and find a suburb where my iPhone will pick a Vodafone signal. Even when my phone shows it has a full signal. I have given up on sending picture messages and it takes sometimes over night for me text message recipients to receive messages from me. I could send a parcel express post quicker to the recipient. Now for the internet, I find it almost impossible to get access to the internet from my home computer. It's as if all the stars have to align before my Vodafone internet works, then if and when it does work, it drops out soon after and takes about eleven attempts to even log on and check a simple email. Isn't it funny that when I am out of credit, I get a 'Very Good' signal. A signal that is strong enough so Vodafone can get my credit card details, then once they ahve STOLEN the money out of my account, my signal then becomes weak or drops out altogether so I spend the rest of my months credit downloading the same webpages because I am constantly starting from scratch every six minutes. With any other internet provider you can 'surf the web', with Vodafone all you do is sit in a still puddle of water.
10365 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is grumble at 4 Jan 2011 03:46:35 PM
I got a text from vodafone which told me that I had free facebook until February. I had 20 dollars in my account, and as I was browsing facebook for a few hours I went off and decided to text a friend. Vodafone then texted me that I had no more credit. I went to a vodafone shop and told them that they have essentially stolen 20 dollars of my credit, they gave me 5 dollars credit to make up for this and told me that I couldn't use facebook without paying money. Grumble.
5 Jan 2011 01:56:02 AM: Please tell me you saved the text and used Nokia pc suite or whatever's applicable to your phone to copy it to your pc and back it up? I wouldn't trust anything Vodafone says or writes- or, (paricularly based on my varied experiences over the years with Vodafone) anyone in business, really. Am currently trying to get an answer from Telstra about erroneously applied charges to landline account- and they know I have a record of everything. How did it get like this? Corporate cannibalism- or something.

5 Jan 2011 02:03:38 AM: You know, even Australia Post could do better than that.Maybe if they got someone to walk from the lotto draw to your home- and do town crier stops along the way, for all the other Vodafone customers who play Lotto. Heaven knows it's a lottery whether they can make calls, or if they do, if they last as long as the caller wants.

10357 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is pissed off at 4 Jan 2011 03:25:31 PM
Firstly they tired to over charge me on the first bill, then there was Saturday the 11th of December when I had no service at all for a few hours, were they gave us free calls as an apology. The next bill I received was due a week earlier then the previous one (I don't see how it can't be set up in the system to be due same date) and when I called Vodafone I got no help at all. I received message from Christmas Day 4 days later, when I send a picture message my friends seem to receive it a numerous amount of times. Last night when catching up with a friend, I suddenly find myself with no service at all (and I was at carousel shopping centre, not like I was out bush), I had nothing for over half an hour (which my friend thought I was standing them up), then for the next 4 hours it kept dropping in and out. I had no problems when I was with 3 and the only reason I joined Vodafone was because it was the last I-Phone 4 they had in stock and since the companies were joining I thought I would have the same great service, how very wrong I was.
6 Jan 2011 01:17:37 PM: I too was at Carousel and in exactly the same boat... it took me nearly an hour to find a public phone because no one would let me use their phone and I had a baby... and no one could tell me where the public phone was... the guy in All Phones can get stuffed because he actually just made up where the phone was!!! I am lucky as I am out of contract and am moving tomorrow!

those working for vodafone must find the 'receiving text messages hours after they'd been sent' game such an entertaining one, as they just continue to play. same with the 'lets take several minutes to load a simple webpage' game and the 'complete reception dropout in the most metropolitan and central of locations' game.
it must be time for this disgrace of a telco company to realise that us consumers aren't so entertained.

I have Vodafone Internet which when I connect at different times, comes up with either poor or very good connection, but drops out constantly. They had also forgotten to email my bills for 2 months which I didn't get, and served me with a $10 late fee which was overturned. I am seriously considering going to another ISP. Not happy, Vodafone.

It is so hard to get to speak to anyone there! Does their contact centre actually exist?? Or is it just Lara sitting in a switch room disconnecting people?
10350 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I've given up expecting reception now. at 4 Jan 2011 03:12:45 PM
I've gone by for 3 months putting up with bad reception and multiple missing texts. Yes, I've tried to call them numerous times, got nowhere like most people and have given up bothering. I'm now just waiting to go use Telstra the second this contract ends.
I just went to the Hunter Valley for a few days break. I don't expect excellent coverage when I go 'rural' but I didn't have reception for about 95% of the entire trip.
At one point during the trip I got a call from a private number, I answered immediately then it just cut out the second I picked up. Then I get a text saying that Vodafone had just tried to call me re: my complaint (from a few weeks back) and to give them a call back.
I wondered if it cut out because of the bad reception or if that is their tactic to call you back then hang up the second you answer so they can say "Well we tried!"
Over the last few months, I just feel like they have used every single trick in the book to avoid talking to me.
Completely unacceptable.

4 Jan 2011 04:36:03 PM: So I called them back as recommended in their text.
I hear the wait is 'at least 30 minutes.' Took the 'Call *ME* back' option...got a call back 1hr 15minutes later. Told the guy I haven't been receiving large amounts of texts for 3 months and have had bad reception and want to know when my contract ends and would like to get out of it now. The guy immediately tries to start telling me its my Iphone - I tell him I have used both a blackberry and an iphone over this period of time to see if it was my phone but no - still experiencing the same issue. He flicks me off to the 'Technical Department' where I have been on hold for another 30 minutes.
Yet again, this has gone nowhere.

I live in the outer part of the Perth Metro (no more then 30 minutes from the CBD and according to vodafone its a covered area) and for the last few months i'm lucky to get reception; it drops out all the time. I can be sitting in my room and at one end of my bed get perfect reception and then move to the other end of my bed (so no more then a 1 meter away) and lose reception! Same thing happens at my work as well and if I want to use contact in the swan valley/the vines area I have to borrow a friends phone cause these area don't have reception even though they as well are "covered coverage" areas!
Then again it doesn't matter where I am, I can be in subi and i'll have no reception, while my friend who has the exact same phone but with a different carrier has perfect reception, so I know its not a phone problem, its Vodafone!
So glad that my plan runs out in a few months time, already found the company and plan that i'm changing to and going to complain like mad to vodafone to be let out of the contract early and for free!

Overcharging of my account. Vodafone wanted an extra $66 for absolutely nothing. I am on a $29 cap and was charged $97 for my first bill when i did not even go over my usage for the month. Then when i signed to Vodafone, part of my contract for the first 12 months was to receive 1GB of download for the first 12 months then 50MB for the remaining 12 months. I only have 50MB right from the start. They have dishonoured the contract as far as i am concerned and should be terminated. Been on hold with them for a minimum of 45min each call then they hang up.
4 Jan 2011 05:31:55 PM: 1st bill huh? Heard of a thing called Pro Rata Charges? What this means for you is that your first bill wiil always be higher because it's for your first month in advance plus the amount of days from when you first connect up until the first billing cycle date, e.g. if you sign up for a $29 cap on the 1st and Vodafone's next billing cycle is the 15th, the first bill should be for $29 + approx. $15(1/2 a month). Now, on a $29 cap you get $150 of credit for a month, so for half a month you should only get $75. Is it possible that you overspent on what you partially received when you may have thought you had the full $150? As for the bonus 1GB for 12 months, that's is for 12 months not 12 months and the little partial month you begin with. You should have the full 1GB + 50MB from the first full month.
Pro Rata is listed on the details of the contract you signed. If the sales consultant didn't properly explain this then Customer care might be able to offer a discount.

1. Sign up to new contract with handset. Customer Service (CS) offers an additional $8 per month off handset repayments which doesn't show up in each bill. Spend every month calling CS to explain. They say they will fix it, but next month comes around without discount.
2. Pay mine, and my wife's, account every month over Internt using the online account provided by vodafone. 6 weeks ago (end Nov 2010), both login's fail. Call up CS and get an excuse that online account is temporarly down and should be fixed that evening. Now six weeks later and still unable to access online account and have not been provided with an excuse, nor a timetable. I'm a good customer, pay my bills on time, no problem. Why do I deserve such a service?
I belive its not neccessarly overseas call centre problem. Moreover poor decision making from Vodafone hierarchy? Typically really, when an organisation gets too big.
I'll definitely pay more for better service, just got to wait until it's a bit cheaper to break contract and churn.

I only have one bar out of 5 for reception, i could understand if i was living in Dalwallinu (250kms north of Perth) but not when i live in a capital city. We go to Mandurah about once a month to visit my wife's parents, who live in Dawesville, again little to no reception there either. Bad, bad, bad, and very frustrating.
10327 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very disappointed at 4 Jan 2011 02:01:36 PM
I have been with vodafone for 12 years and have been with the mobile broadband service for 9 months. I've been on the phone to them 5 times now at 30 minute call rate and they have done nothing to resolve my problems with my Internet not working for the past month and my phone calls dropping out and the poor coverage. It's an absolute disgrace and I can't understand how they can hold me in contract that is not providing it's contract services. NOT HAPPY JAN

10325 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is It was painful - now it doesnt' work from home at 4 Jan 2011 02:00:19 PM
I'm unable to make or receive calls from my home (In Hornsby NSW). I with moved from Optus to Vodafone, because they had iPhone 4's and resonable plans - for the first few weeks I could make and receive calls from home, but since late December, I cannot. I do not have a fixed line phone! I can receive SMS and have no access to the internet from my iPhone at home. In other locations its patchy but I can generally make and receive calls etc.

Hello,
I am writing in complete disgust and fustration to Vodafone. I have now been trying to contact someone over the period of 3 weeks. The first time I got cutt off, a few times you have NOT returned my phone call as requested, and another time I called to complain about being OVERCHARGED for my last bill, and they A didn't understand me from language barriers, and B refused to state that they had overcharged me, and that it was all apart of the "GST amount". I have now gone into the city to go to a vodafone store to request for help - They viewed my last bill and indeed stated that I had been over-charged. They told me they would write the facts into my customer number ID and telefone number, so that when I called Vodafone would sort this out. I have now been waiting on the phone for 47 minutes only to be told that Vodafone is undergoing difficulties. I am actually REPULSED and will NEVER go with vodafone ever again.

10323 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is abysmal at 4 Jan 2011 01:59:27 PM
Spent a total of OVER 16 HOURS on hold in 2010 trying to sort out a simple problem (Vodafone sent the wrong items ordered from the Vodafone store). Was constantly transferred back and forth to the wrong people, given incorrect information such as "direct line" support numbers, disconnected after waiting on hold for over an hour straight, told that the problem was solved when it wasn't, etc.

10320 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Useless at 4 Jan 2011 01:53:36 PM
I use my Vodafone mobile for business and my calls drop out constantly. I am forced to travel into the office more often so that I can use a landline. I do not live outback, merely 15 mins from the city and yet I often get no signal. It also cuts out in the middle of Perth CBD which is unacceptable. When I spoke to Vodafone they told me it was my handset (iPhone 3GS) and not the signal and to send it to the repair centre, but there was no replacement offered! I cannot afford to give up my phone as I use it for email on the go, so I just have to suffer. I will be contacting Vodafone to attempt to cancel my contract which has 10 months remaining and move to Telstra.
10319 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is horrible! at 4 Jan 2011 01:52:10 PM
I never get my voicemail on time. my reception cuts from full bars to no bars to no service. i cant use the internet as much as it keeps cutting out. I cant make calls all the time as it wont go through even with full reception. My SMS's come days later and when i sent a txt it gets to the other person days later or never!! So frustrating!
10318 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 4 Jan 2011 01:51:35 PM
Standing in the middle of Redcliffe I can only get 2-3 bars of reception at the most. Even when it says I have 3 bars of 3G reception, a simple web page takes many minutes to load. It's ridiculous. Also ridiculous is the fact that nobody can call me at night when my phone is right next to my bed!! The reception goes from 1 bar to nothing. It is So frustrating, especially when Vodafone USED to be very reliable.

Been a vodafone customer for over 10 years...
poor performance from mobile broadband right in the middle of Brisbane... I have had an IPAD sim since July and the service has was good untill Oct.. now I will shift to Telstra for my Ipad service when I use up my $150 prepaid...
Call centre staff are very friendly and have always sorted out the many issues I have had... but their wait time and internal transfer system is appaling...

10316 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is i am willing to pay out the contract so i can leave at 4 Jan 2011 01:46:14 PM
where do i start ...
i have not been able to access my account info online for 6 months
i have not been able to use the online system or get hold of anyone to set up global roaming for work trips and holidays .. then recently i did finally get someone in the call centre to do it, but it would not work for 4 of the 5 weeks I was overseas. They sent me an email to say it works and today once I got through again they said it works. I can guarrantee that it doesnt. So I have paid for 4 weeks of NO service.
They made an error and did not invoice me for my last account and are adding it to my next one.
Today, again the website would not work and then when i called, the first time the system hung up after 5 minutes. Then second time, i was on hold for ages, then listening to a ringing phone for about 5 minutes, then when finally through i could only hear them partially due to them breaking up lots (i had to call from a landline as my iphone now doesnt work thanks to the new software update i put on it yesterday)
I asked for the amount i need to payout to finish my contract but they could not tell me as they said that there is an 'order' on my account and they cannot provide me that information ...
and that is just a bit of the problem.
Was with them for 13yrs but now .. willing to PAY money to get away!

"Web developer Adam Brimo updated the Vodafail web site yesterday with a note informing fellow complainants that he had personally met with Vodafone Australia chief executive Nigel Dews but neither party was willing to share what was discussed." insert from ITNews
Looks like Vodafone scared off this site's management!!!!????
How come a company can control so much what others say about them, especially when it is true!

Hi I have moved to South Australia in October and I have no coverage for my Phone, I have tried calling many times, but I was put on hold for hours and I once happened to speak to someone in India and he said if there is no coverage they will cancel the account, but they also asked me a exit fee.I have 2 mobile number with Vodafone and the other number is with one of family member who leaves in ACT and we signed up with Vodafone as it was free call between us. Vodafone coudn't provide any solution to me and I have lost lot of my business contacts as they were calling on my Mobile and also I am unable to speak to my family member which is very important for me daily. I have been trying to find a solution for more than 2 months nothing much has happened. I had go with another provide and transfer my number.

Customer service and service coverage is a disgrace. I urge customer not to pay their bills till they have brought service up to the standard they say they deliver.
