Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

It's getting really frustrating when i can't access how much money is left on my cap. Every single time i SMS the number, or call through.. the service is temporarily down, try again later - how convenient?! This happens every single time I try to check it, so I will refuse to pay any fees that im billed if by accident i do go over! I won't even start on the lack of reception..

Hi Guys,
The owner of Vodafone is Three. I met several mates who used Three also facing problems like Three actually canceled their contracts in sudden and claimed that they were asking for upgrade.
I believe they are desperate for sales. Three is the trouble maker.

I have WIFI and it is waaay slower than Dial up! When I try to speak to someone about it they suggest I move my modem closer to a window!!! Hello?? That is the technology expertise they provide? Or a woman who may or may not be frustrated with me, who has no phone skills and it 'appears' as if she thinks I am a complete idiot. Vodafone used to be GREAT. What the Hell happened!?!?!?!??!

I have had bad coverage for the past 3 months. When you call to report the issue it takes for ever and in the end have not got the time to hold on. text message sending and receiving are not sent straight away also receiving text the next day. We have always had pretty good service but the last 3 months have been a shocker

I got a call from Vodafone yesterday. They advised me that my contract is almost up and they wanted me to renew my 2 years 599 business cap contract.
I asked them why you guys are still trying to sign up new customer and ring your existing to try and get them to renew their contract even though the network is almost unusable.
The data service is like the slowest thing I have ever seen. It takes about 3 minutes to load up SMH website in the middle of CBD!!!!
Obviously I had a go at the guy. I tell you what it was the best feeling in the world. I have been waiting for this phone call for almost a year.

21 Jan 2011 12:57:48 PM: erm yes that's because everyone in the CBD is trying to load stuff. The uptake of mobile data could not be predicted (nor could Facebook, twitter, etc) therefore they're playing catch up with bandwidth problems.
Phone tough talk to the poor bloke who's asking if you needed anything. Why not go big yourself up at the corporate office and demand to speak with the CEO. Outstanding citizen of the year. Tosser.

13753 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is terrible at 21 Jan 2011 10:51:19 AM
I have been with Vodafone for at least 10 years. Simply because it has been great , up until the past 24 months. I went on a $79 Cap with a black berry storm, that had numerous problems- even though i had insurance, i was asked to pay ridiculous amounts of excess to exchange my phone. Which in my opinion, was faulty from the moment I bought it. I find they have know customer loyalty, and a 'can't be bothered' attitude! When I changed from Pre Paid I wanted to keep my phone number, however the customer service rep in the store said " this will take up to 24 hours and I won't be able to give you free accessories"... So, I dont care about that! I want the same number- yet he continued to ramble off excuses. I have friends who have been called 6 months out from their Optus contract & are offered an upgrade because they are "loyal" customers. I would have spent well into the thousands with Vodafone by now, yet have never once been offered anything!
5 months out from my contract expiring my phone was stolen, I had been told by one rep that I could upgrade for free 3 months out from my contract, yet when I asked someone else they said i couldnt- then as usual, i spent hours on hold and transferred to different people- Dont even get me started on "LARA". I had the option to pay $300 excess to get an Iphone 3, or pay $350 to upgrade early and get an Iphone 4- yet they werent taking any orders. I ended up spending 2 months without a phone because I simply didnt have the time, to spend 3 hours on the phone.
A major problem is, they never send me my bill through email, and whenever i try and check my balance via text i ALWAYS get a text back saying " this service is unavailable at this time". YES it is, because they want you to go over your cap.
I am now on an infinity cap, because i couldnt pay out my contract and go with Optus as i had originally planned, as i needed a phone ASAP. "infinity" yet read all the terms and conditions- it's hardly unlimited access.

I can see i have full range on my mobile but when i ring my mobile it says i am out of range, this is because my family was seriously trying to call me at my work and when they cannot contact me they called my office at that time i came to know that my mobile phone ( vodafone) does not work.

Well after 2 mths of compliants and being told by Vodafone that "yes coverage is very patchy in your area" they have released me from my phone contract. Apparently Vodafone will send me a pre-paid bag to return my iphone 3G. (Holding my breath in anticipation!)as they can only release me from the service part of the contract, not the phone payments. Ported my number to Telstra last Friday. YESTERDAY (Thursday) I get a call from Vodafone customer retention, asking how they can keep my business! HAHAHAHHAHAHA too late.

21 Jan 2011 10:55:47 AM: two thumbs up
21 Jan 2011 11:08:28 AM: Three thumbs down.
21 Jan 2011 11:08:54 AM: Firstly telstra has cap plans that are pretty comparable to vodafones in regards to price. Secondly what your saying in regards to vodafone saying that they are cheaper but their service isn't as good is a load of rubbish. Vodafone has never stated that "you may not be able to use your phone due to complete lack of signal pretty much everywhere" before you sign up for a contract. Finally it's one thing to offer a lower standard of service for a lower cost but vodafones service is near non existent. It would be like going to a mechanic because they were slightly cheaper and then they give you your car back and all they had done is sit in the drivers seat. I doubt you would be sitting there going "herp derp but it was cheaper so it's all good" if that was the case. So basically get a real clue
21 Jan 2011 11:59:05 AM: You are quite wrong. VF is basically selling a product. To sell a product it must be by law "fit for purpose" and this is where VF fails. The service they are currently providing is not fit for the purposes that VF is advertising. As a result many people end up have a phone that has as much functionality as a paper-weight.
21 Jan 2011 12:35:00 PM: 1:08 - If Telstra is "pretty comparable" then why not go to them in the first place? and if you learnt to read I wasn't saying that Vodafone was saying they are cheap and therefore their service isn't good.
To state the there is no coverage at all is just plain stupid. If you look at the contract (oh that's right, you didn't) it makes no guarantees that you will have service 100% of the time.
Your mechanic example is just plain ridiculous. Since it's a car and my safety is on the line then I don't take it to the 'cheapest' nor would I accept someone not doing anything at all.
1:59 - It is fit for purpose. I am on 3 and use it on a daily basis but put up with the dropouts and sometimes poor connection because it's cheap.
If you'd bothered researching your consumer rights (oh that's too hard as well) then you would have been at the TIO and out of your contract long ago.
Easier to have a whinge, snivelling on a website, blaming everyone else rather than getting of your collectives and doing something about it.

Having taken up Vodafone as a business client, I find it continually discouraging when the network drops out either whilst I am on a phone call to a customer or trying to locate a service.
I don't understand how the reception for other network clients is fine and mine cannot keep up. My clients like to be able to speak to me when they can and recently even just a trip to Toowoomba put me off the map!
Last year, on a business trip to Japan I was assured I would be able to roam from overseas. Having arrived in Japan, I found this was not the case and spent days on the internet trying to get my service up and running.
Only 4 days prior to leaving did I finally have the coverage I was promised would be ok. By that stage a wedding cake order had been cancelled as the Bride had been unable to locate me and I had lost other clients enquiring about orders too.
'Not happy Jan'
Now with issues on my iphone, I have not been able to use it whilst on contract with Vodafone and find it disheartening that the contract and the waaranty don't go hand-in hand. As far as I'm conerned if I'm still paying for the product and it fails through no fault of my own, I shouldn't have to wait to have the phone replaced or pay for the replacement.
The system is ridiculus and as soon as my contract is finished I will be changing suppliers.

Terrible coverage, I work in the Brisbane CBD, little reception at best of time and 3G rarely connects.
I've had calls just drop out and lose reception for no reason. Will be attempting to leave Vodafail shortly and to try my luck and give my money elsewhere.
Vodafone, don't provide the service I am paying for.

I have been a loyal customer of Vodafone for 6 years. I renewed my contract, signing up for 24 months with an iPhone 4 in September 2010.
About a week in, I noticed that my 3G data speed was rapidly decreasing - this has NOT improved in the last 4 months. This didn't worry me too much at first but then the SMS problems started. If I was on the 3G network, I was unable to send SMS but obviously if I de-activated the 3G then I couldn't browse, get emails etc. It took me 45 minutes to get through to someone who told me that Vodafone was doing upgrades in my area and it should be fixed within 2 hours. 3 days later it was finally fixed.
However, in the last 3 months I have had more that 5 times where I was sending text messages then a few hours later realising that I had not received any (ater sending a test to myself). When I called the first time, I was told that it was a problem with my sim and to reboot. This didn't work so I was given about 10 different options to go through before it started working again.
The next time it happened, I was on hold for 56 minutes before getting through to someone that could not understand what the problem was and I had to be put through to his supervisor who wasn't much more help but eventually gave me a code to disable call barring on incoming text and told me that I must have played with settings to cause this! I know for a fact that I didn't touch ANY settings and after some investigation, found that there was not even an option for call barring within the iPhone menu!
The third time this happened, I called vodafone and was on hold for 18 minutes before being disconnected. I called back, went through all the prompts and then LARA said "Sorry, something went wrong. You'rell have to hang up and try again". This happen 9 times before I finally go through to someone who told me that I had to fully restore my phone because it was a handset issue. Tried this, took 2 hours, didn't fix it. I called back anda further 30 minutes on hold got me back to someone else, I asked for the code and was bluntly told that there was no such code for call barring. 20 minutes later I managed to get him to look for it, speak to his supervisor and give it to me. Luckily I remembered to write it down as this same issue has happened a further 2 times since then.
On top of that, I constantly get call drop outs and no 3G even in CBD.
And the icing on the cake? I tried logging into Vodafone online and was told my password was incorrect. Upon trying to reset, I was told I wasn't even registered. So I went through the registration process and what do you know, all my details are exactly how I left them!
I have never had any reason to change before but I am seriously considering moving to another Telco because this is pathetic!

If any of you had half a brain, you would have gone to the TIO years ago and ended your relationship with Vodafone. That fact that you're still there soaking up the punishment says the other half is probably missing as well.
13742 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is useless at 21 Jan 2011 10:43:15 AM
On Sunday the 17th October i was burgled and my phone and wallet stolen. I rang vodafone as soon as i realised my phone was stolen to cancel the sim so it could not be used. I rang at around 2pm and my call was finally answered at 3.30pm. The operator told me that the phone could not be stopped on weekends and that i would have to ring back during business hours. I told him how ridiculous that was and that i wanted to block the sim so i would not be charged with calls the thief decided to make. The operator said he would transfer me to some other department and maybe they could do it. So i was put on hold again and after another 90mins, at 5pm somebody else answered and eventually blocked my sim card.
Its quite humerous how it took 3hrs to get through to vodafone, whilst it took the police 15min to arrive at my house and 45min for forensic police to arrive and take fingerprints. It was quite annoying trying to talk to police whilst having 1 ear listening to vodafone on hold music.
Since then i have gone into a vodafone shop and got a new sim with my old number and i purchased a phone from the shop (after waiting 40min in a queue).
Yesterday i thought i better ring vodafone to update my billing details due to my credit card being stolen and i have now been issued with a new credit card number. I rang vodafone at 4pm and at 5pm i gave up and i decided to look in the web site to see if i could find a way to do it without wasting my time on hold to vodafone. I eventually worked out how to change my direct debit details on the web site so they are now up to date.
Today i received an SMS from vodafone telling me my last bill was unsuccessful in being paid and that i must pay it ASAP to "prevent restrictions to your service".
I have just paid the bill by credit card, it would be good if Vodafone could answer there customer hotline as quick as they let you know your bill is overdue.
After all this occuring i decided to switch to telstra. In doing this i knew i would be up for a bill for about $600 for cancelling contract. SO i went ahead with it and a few weeks later i received my final bill for about $600 so i rang up and paid it on my credit card.
The next week i noticed they had debitted it the $600 again from my credit card. SO i rang them up again, usual on hold for ever. The lady told me that she would have a look, first she said it was not an error and i did owe $1200. i said that cannot be right, so she decided to look into and ring me back. 2 days later she called back and said i was right and my credit card would be credited.
2 weeks later still no credit on my credit card, so i rang them again to see whatwas happening, on hold again for ages and finally get through to someone and he tells me it hasnt been "processed yet" and that he was going to do now and i should get in few days.
Finally about 4 weeks after being double charged i got my money back and hopefully my last dealings with Vodafone

My phone service regularly drops out. As a parent I find it really frustrating as I rely on my mobile phone as an emergency contact number (as I work at various sites) for my child.
Vodafone gets a big, fat FAIL from me!

We are a small business with 26 connections. I am not able to speak to my account manager to sort the billing issues for the last one year, services issues as well. If i send him 10 emails he sends me one email saying that they are workign on it. But it is more than a year and still working on it. I am not sure how this company is still operating we have to 24 months contract and 12 months have gone. We will never go back to them again.
13737 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTREME at 21 Jan 2011 10:38:56 AM
I am with vodafone on a 12 month contract. My contract expires in march. My partner is with vodafone on a 24 month contract. We have poor coverage most times, drop outs and delayed text messages. The record for a delayed message was 3 days, where i asked him to pick me up from the train station. This has occurred countless times. i had a job interview call which never called and went straight to voicemail ( where i check it had full bars of reception) I also text my friend to let her know i would be late for a lecture, where she received it 1 day later. There are times where the vodafone reception just disappears and doesnt come back for minutes. Total disgrace. i will be switching carriers to optus when my contract expires in March.

13735 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Payment issues at 21 Jan 2011 10:34:32 AM
Every couple of months I discover that my auto payment is cancelled by vodafone. I usually find out when I'm told I don't have credit for a call rather than any notification from Vodafone. In Dec 2010 I did get a text stating my account was overdue and when I rang to find out why they aren't debiting money for i each month, I discovered that it had not been paid for 3 months and I was in fact now liable for late payment fees. After liaising with a customer service rep & her manager in India, the overdue charges where dropped. However I find this constant failure on Vodafone part to keep their payment system operational tedious and an serious contemplating changing suppliers.
13734 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Total fail at 21 Jan 2011 10:34:30 AM
I had a phone on a 24 month contract, with insurance.
After 13 months one day my phone stoped working.
it was out of the 12 month warrenty, and the insurance would not cover the phone because there was not an "Event" eg dropping it. It just Died.
So I was left with 11 months left on my contract and no Phone.
Multiple to customer service and speaking with managers etc, they pretty much said...too bad so sad.
I hate you Vodafone.

13733 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is crap at 21 Jan 2011 10:34:22 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer for 9 years but was pre-paid until 15 months ago when I signed a post-paid contract. Had no issues at all and thought they were great until September when my phone was disconnected apparently due to an upaid bill from April was supposedly direct debited from my account but failed to go through and it 'didn't show up in their system until September. This bill was paid and I had the bank statement and reciept from Vodafone to prove it but even if it wasn't paid, my phone was disconnected without any warning - no email, no text, no letter - I simply couldn't make outgoing calls or send texts one morning. Poor form. I had to call Vodafone and waited on hold for 1hr and 23mins before being connected to someone only to be chastised by an Indian gentleman who I stuggled to understand but was clearly annoyed at me for being annoyed when according their system the bill hadn't been paid. After my 1hr 23min hold, I spoke to this guy for 15mins before being told I was speaking to the wrong department anyway and that he would put me through to someone else. I waited a further 48mins on hold before being connected to an Indian woman who was of no use. By this stage I was VERY frustrated and after 12mins of discussions with her I asked to speak to the cancellations department and was put through (strangsly no hold time that time). I finally spoke to someone who was helpful but it still took 31mins to clear up the mess and get an apology for the mistake and a credit added to my account as was required to re-active my phone. Then of course you have to hang up and wait 20mins, turn your phone on and off and then it should be working. And I was then advised to call them back if I had any further issues - yeah right! I'm totally keen to waste another I spent 3hrs and 15mins on the phone in order to get them to fix THEIR MISTAKE. Not happy at all. After 9 years and what is definately more than $14,000 in expenses with theme, I am not impressed. That's what you get for customer loyalty. I will be terminating my relationship with them this year as soon as my contract ends.

13731 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Big at 21 Jan 2011 10:32:06 AM
I'm 10Km from Melb CBD, yesterday I only had data reception on and off also voicemail messages turned up about 2 hours after the phone call. I had registered a complaint online in early December which recieved an email reply suggesting if I didn't reply in a few days they would assume it was resolved. Interesting!
Thanfully my contract runs out at the end of the month so I will be moving carriers very quickly. Having said that my problems with them started a few months into my contract when I called up to change the "best mate" number. I had my phone blocked and demands to pay out my contract. (Apparently someone clicked a wrong button and I had only called up to do it as the website wasn't working) This resulted in many hours on a landline phone to every country but Australia to try and get my phone back online.
Like everyone else, I've missed appointments due to calls diverting straight to voicemail and then not registering for hours, texts turning up hours after being sent, had calls drop out, zero reception at inconvenient times and infuriating attempted conversations with call centre staff and Lara. There isn't going to be anything about Vodafone I'll miss.

Im a new customer to vodafone and unfortunately im on a contract, i was sent a faulty phone and spent all up about 5 hours on hold with their customer service line, being put through from technical to the next ludicrous area they could pawn me off to. After putting through my complaint for what seemed like the hundreth time they finally emailed my the receipt for the phone so I could take it in to get fixed. One month later I still haven't heard from them as to the whereabouts of my phone, I call them only to be told that there is liquid in my phone most liekly from the battery leaking due to intense humidity and that I will have to pay $352 to get this fixed. How ridiculous is this? Not only am I paying $75 dollars a month for no network coverage and a phone that constantly turned off, I had to pay for the weather? Not only is customer service horrible, their policy is absolutely ridiculous!

13729 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is The worst ever at 21 Jan 2011 10:30:43 AM
This would have to be the worst service ever. I have had multiple issues with calls dropping out, poor internet connection and terrible customer service. After trying to contact them to discuss, I have still got nowhere. You spend hours on hold and then are spoken to in a condescending manor. Never again will I have anything to do with Vodafone or any other of it's affiliations.
13727 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is BIG TIME FAIL at 21 Jan 2011 10:29:55 AM
Have been on $49 cap for over 1 year, and never exceed the cap limit. The last 2 billing periods have been $172 and $96!!! with no significant changes to the calling. Large number of dropping out events have been noted on the bills. Dropped into a Vodafone stall, and they refused to help. Unable to get through on customer care line. In the meantime I refuse to pay the bill - guess I will just wait to they cut off the phone!!! (Can I still keep my mobile # if I sign up with another carrier?)
21 Jan 2011 02:04:56 PM: Yes you can. Don't cancel it on vodaphone's end, your new provider can port your number across. This would count as an early termination of contract so vodaphone would charge you to do so. Boycotting payments would do little in your favor as it would count against your credit rating if it goes through to a collection agency, so see if voda is willing to waive any due to your issue.

Alright so I thought it was just my fam that got a dodgy network and could out dial out of our "full bar" phones. Initially I thought it might be an issue with the iPhone. Right until it happened on much older phone and then on a htc as well. Now if we didn go anywhere and remained within shouting distance thus wouldn't be a problem but because my gran - while extraordinary for her age is still 96 and we like to be in constant contact with her. On numerous occasions we have been unable to contact her and her us because of poor network that leVes us receiving messages like the handset is off or is unavailable or similar nonsense. We just all keep hoping that this doesn't occur in an emergency situation ..

13718 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dropped calls at 21 Jan 2011 10:23:29 AM
I have delayed voicemail, no network coverage at times even when I am in CBD, my calls regularly drop out or last no longer than 2 mins and when I complained to Vodafone, after waiting for 6 hours for them to call me back, my mobile dropped out just after I launched into my complaint! Customer service of course did not bother to ring back. So not only do I have numerous Vodafone problems, I can't even contact them to complain about it. We recently moved and have no home line and I am so dependent on my mobile, yet everyday, it fails me. Driving me to have high blood pressure!

Well apart from dealing with Lara and trying to get her to do what is needed, the hardware being the iphone4 has numerous problems, everything from 40 second calls ending up with the person not being able to hear me, to drop outs, people cannot call the phone it just goes to voicemail, the voicemail messages get sent to the message bank hours later, txt messages coming through hours later. Being a business phone we are losing business. Our customers are experiencing bad service which is refelcted on us giving this service level all because of vodafone's lack of service! Because we are not aware of their calls, we cannot speak to new customers and help and this affects our potential income! Vodafone fix the problem stop running me through the same hoops everytime! I check the outage page and i have all the coverage bars so no reception problems. The issues are becoming more and more frequent! with no answers and everytime i call they seem to be oblivious to anyone else having these problems! Promising call back at certain times and then not calling alterntive numbers i've provided???
Good site! well done on setting up the forum to vent and let the wider public know about these problems! Getting the Iphone is just not worth these problems!

I have my iPhone with and my Mobile broadband with Vodafone.
My phone drops out frequently and so to does the mobile broadband.
I will often receive voicemails days later that are often urgent.
My mobile broadband will frequently drop at at night time around 10/11 and will sometimes not come back on again until the next day. This affects my business practices as I often cannot send important emails.
When I tried to lodge a complaint to Vodafone I had to give a ridiculous amount of detail regarding each instance of failure and due to its complications I abandoned my complaints.
I called the 'customer service (hahaha)' line a few days ago and waited over half an hour before hanging up.
Vodafone coverage is also particularly bad throughout parts of NSW where I recently went on holiday.
Not a happy camper.

Also holiday in Moore River - 1 hr north, out of 10 friends, every single one gets reception from other providers - Telstra, Optus, 3 etc, on various phones - iPhones, Nokia, Android etc BUT me - I got NOTHING! Call dropps and no data connectivity. I fail to understand, if I move one feet during my call conversation, signal drop and many times it will get diconnected. All the time, my friends complain that call is breaking up but I can hear them without any break up. As always, call centre does nothing about this. Nothing against employees of call centre but there is no infrastructure in place to support the big customer base Vodafone have.

13701 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is call drop outs and flagfall charges at 21 Jan 2011 10:10:46 AM
I experience call drop outs on a regular basis, to people on all networks. What is ridiculous is that when the call drops out, I will have to call again and get charged for flag-fall (connection)again and again! And this is eating into my monthly call credits.
At times when I call people, and the line seems to be blank, no ringtone, no hangup, just silence. Then I'd have to wait for a while and then it'll be fine, standing in the same location.
The thought that it maybe a handset issue is also far fetched, as I have a Vodafone exclusive mobile phone, so either way it'll be Vodafone's issue.
To be fair, I'll add that despite my first two bills being COMPLETELY incorrect, Vodafone call centre staff where very professional and helpful, albeit waiting on the phone for a long time.

JUNE 2010: I called Vodafone in June to turn on global roaming while I was overseas for 1 week. I gave the dates to the customer service assistant that I would be abroad and when to switch global roaming off... "No worries, thats like totally super easy! I've set up so global roaming switches off when you return to Australia, and I've also put a not on your file to guarantee it gets done!"....
OCTOBER 2010: My phone is disconnected because the bill is $1500 and I can't pay it... WHY??? Because for the last 3 and a half months I've been back in Australia, I have been charged for every call and every SMS at international charge rates because my global roaming DID NOT get turned off... - even though I called 3 times... AND was guaranteed this would be done automatically 'no worries!'.....
DECEMBER 2010: New bill... Monthly charges $700!!!! My phone has been completely cut off since October... how on earth are there $700 worth of charges...
= UberVodafail!!!
OCTOBER 2010: My phone is disconnected because the bill is $1500 and I can't pay it... WHY??? My work phone is now on Vodafone !? It used to be on Telstra, which didn't miss a beat. Now I have late msg, droped calls and/or no calls! It doesn't work at home, around town, travelling, not anywhere except funny enough, at work! So Im probably the only one to say a very very very small thank you to vodafone as work can no longer contact me at home! Aren't we in 2011? We can talk to some-one on the moon but I can't send a msg from home to a friend in the same suburb! Wake up VODAFONE, people need their phones to work! Or should we call you VODAFONEY.

More than 2 hours on hold to Vodafail on 5 separate occasions over the course of a week trying to speak with a PERSON in customer service.
Ended up emailing my concerns, all problems that I have seen increase since December 2010: calls dropping; service completely dropping out; emails loading 2/3/4 times over; voicemail dropping out; not receiving messages at all, or much later than they were sent; poor coverage, even driving down the Mitchell Freeway! The response received from Vodafail was that my "concerns are not valid" and they have refused to release me from my contract and have said I need to phone them to discuss my concerns with a Vodafone representative...only I don't have 4 hours to wait on hold nor the inclination!
I am NOT getting the service I signed up for nor the service I am paying for. I have not received a personal apology, let alone any refund, for the considerable amount of time my phone has been disconnected from their network nor the inconvenience the above issues have caused.
Vodafone, you are rubbish.

21 Jan 2011 10:33:14 AM: upon speaking to a supervisor when i got my contract cancelled, dont quote reception near highways, it is in high population density areas that they guarantee service, ie. CBD, Airports, major shopping precincts etc.
21 Jan 2011 11:45:02 AM: The Mitchell Freeway runs north-south amongst Perth's populated northern suburbs and there are numerous 'major shopping precincts', industrial areas and mobile phone service towers dotted along its length. It is the northern 'spine' of the Perth metropolitan area.

Have lost count of the number of times Vodafone just drops my call. It happens at least 50% of the time and usually after about 10 minutes. The call just drops. It nearly always happens when making Vodafone to Vodafone calls, which are free excpet for 20c flagfall. I used to think it was a deliberate move to make some sort of money from these calls by making me call again, therefore paying another 20c!!!!!

Vodafone coverage in 3337 is horrible. Cuts out and never gets reception.
Other day called vodafone and was told there was a 30 min wait and we will call u back. they called me back and when it went to put me through to the actual operator it dropped the call, so i had to wait another 30 minutes for vodafone to call me.
also my vodafone iphone 3gs insurance expired in late september.. in oct i sent my phone for repairs and they said to put it through insurance as wifi wasn't working. It took vodafone 1 month and they didnt call me back after i left my phone with them. I called vodafone and they advised that some report had been misplaced and that my phone claim was in limbo, but then quickly they sent me an email saying it had been denied because it wasn't damaged enough! so next time i know i need to break my phone or run over it, so insurance will cover it!

Useless service. People are always complaining to me that their calls go straight to my voicemail, even if it says my phone has full reception!! Calls drop out all the time and reception drops out and goes in to "searching" mode ALL THE TIME. I have to restart my phone to try and get service back. One of the most annoying things is the time is takes to connect to a call even though it says I have full reception - sometimes I can dial a number and it takes over a minute to connect!!

How wrong they were considering my phone was not used. I now have a $1200 bill due to data roaming. I am also only 2 months into a 24 month contract and cannot wait to get out!

After numerous misinformation or misdirecting i was told over the phone by one of there cusotmer service people that i had successfully managed to get a new iphone4 and that it would be coming to me via the mail/courier in a few weeks. After nearly 5 weeks of waiting and numerous calls to there custoemr services call centre i have now been informed that they cannot find my order that i placed over the phone ( i was informed that this was the correct way to upgrade to the new iphone for exisiting vodaphone custoemrs) and i now have to wait 3-4 days until there "supervisor" can get back to me to let me know what is going on.
Regardless to say i am not impressed and very unhappy with there level of service.

A few months ago, my sister lost her phone (contract under my name), we go through the procedure Vodafone website, called the "free" number given. The wait was very long, around 30 minutes, and when finally someone took our call, it was another 20 minutes to block the lost handset.
To my dismay, that "free" number turns out to be not free at all. I can't recall precisely how much I was charged, but it was more than $20, which pissed me off considering that the monthly contract is only $29.
To their defence, the staff taking our call is polite and professional. The charge for calling "free" number is not. That's thievery. I considered about complaining, but then cancelled it. They will charge me more for complaining, I don't trust them.

I'm no longer a customer of Vodafone and I'm so glad that I left.
For 18 months of a 24 month contract they were fine, sure i would recieve voicemails and sms' late but i never thought much of it and everytime i spoke to Lara I would avoid her by speaking gibberish.
However, when my email bills weren't arriving and i was getting threats to be taken to court for not paying, which i took up with customer service who stated it was my junk email filter (i don't have a Junk filter) i started to find them rather frustrating.
When i decided to get an iPhone 4 through vodafone i was told that a 2 week wait is standard. I was fine with that.
8 weeks later i still hadn't recieved the iPhone and everytime i called they said it was getting dealt with.
9 weeks later i cancelled my plan and changed carrier.
I think back on all the issues i had with vodafone and realised that the hold times are insane, i was often told different information from different departments and Lara is the most infuriating attempt at customer service i have encountered.
I couldn't be happier with my new carrier.

13680 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Billing at 21 Jan 2011 10:05:20 AM
Hi,
My main issue with Vodafone is the difficulty I had trying to set up direct debit facilities to pay my bills automatically. I advised Vodafone of my credit card details and was assured that direct debit had been set up on my account. Approx 2 months later I noticed that I had not been billed. I rang up Vodafone again and again gave them my credit card details. They assured me that on the next billing date my credit card would be charged for the 'overdue' amount and the next bill.
Next month I experienced the same problem. Vodafone did not bill me the outstanding amount nor the current bill. I again rang Vodafone to again give them my credit card details.
Next month I had the same problem, except the way I learnt about it was because Vodafone had disabled my account - due to non-payment.
I again rang Vodafone (please not that EACH time I rang Vodafone I was on hold for an average of 30 mins)and complained. After much back and forth with an extremely unhelpful foreign call centre operator (I do not blame them, they are the frontline to Vodafone's issues and don't deserve the anger they receive). In the end they gave me a $50 credit on my account and assured me that they reversed all 'late payment' fees - I had been charged 1 per month.
The next month I get a rather nasty automated sms from Vodafone telling me that my account wasn't paid and to please pay it or my account would be disabled. I range them back (another long wait on hold) and paid my bill over the phone. At the same time I decided to remove my credit card details from my account and I would pay my bills manually from now on.
I got online some time after this to check and see if my credit card details had been removed from my account. They had not.
For the next 3 months I went to their website and manually removed my credit card details. None of these attempts worked. Finally (last month) I rang them again (another long wait on hold) and had the call centre operator remove my credit card details. They have now been removed.
At the same time I told them that I had had enough of Vodafone and told them that I wanted to break my contract and move to another provider. They told me that they could arrange that for me, however I would be charged an early cancellation fee. I decided to stay as my contract expires on 24 April 2011.
My other issues with Vodafone are the same as those I hear in the media. I have poor coverage, even in my home and I live 5km from Sydney City, delayed SMS's and call drop outs.
I am completely over Vodafone and will NEVER sign up with them again.

13673 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is HOPELESS at 21 Jan 2011 09:59:57 AM
Oh where to begin!
I've been with Vodafone for over five years and here are a few gems...
1. Originally on a $79 cap plan I had exceeded my limit a few months in a row due to friends and family moving interstate and OS so I rang Vodafone and they suggested I change to a different cap, so I changed to the $99 cap which was more cost effective. I was worried about my contract so actually recorded conversations to ensure my contract would stay the same - no problem I was told. After 3 months on the $99 cap I changed back to the $79 cap. THEN - when I called to double check when my 24month contract expired I was told the year - 2014!! Because I had changed my original cap plan they added 24months with each change! And so began a drama that lasted over a week while the problem was fixed to prove that I could change cap plans freely (as stated in my contract which was meant to expire in 2008!)
2. COUNTLESS MMS and SMS messages that never get recieved and STILL charged for (upon calling the call centre I was told there was no way to actually prove that messages were not recieved so I was to be charged regardless - this was said by an Australian call operator).
3. EXTREME waiting times to speak to a customer SERVICE operator for Vodafone and this is AFTER their call centres have been outsourced to Asia.
4. Call service operators who NEVER understand the problems as they can only help with information on their computer - this leads to repetitive conversations of them reading from a screen and not actually resolving the issue OR understanding the issue.
5. Poor, poor, poor reception all over Sydney for iPhone.

we have 14 phones and 1 internet sim all with vodafone. we joined on a corporate plan with promises like conference calling, call transfers between users etc. all of which is useless because of the constant drop outs and lack of useable service.
In one conference call a few weeks ago we took over an hour to have a 10 minute discussion and had to add people back in to the conversation dozens of times as they constantly dropped off the conference.
the time it takes for text messages and voicemails to be delivered renders them completely useless as the topic of them is usually over before we even get the messages.
The internet connection connects as HSUPA or GSM which is much slower than 3G most of the time despite all phones showing 3G coverage.
Vodafone customer service is unable to offer us any useable assistance other than to blame us, whiile their billing department is perfectly competent and charges us a flagfall for every reconnection call, every SMS and voicemail and charges us for 3G internet that is not being delivered.
Can't wait to get out of this SCAM!

13665 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big fail at 21 Jan 2011 09:54:18 AM
I signed a 2 year USB contract with vodaphone. I was told I would have full 3g coverage at home and at my university. I had a best dial up speed when it didn't drop out at home and no coverage at uni. I rang 4-5 times on hold from 30 minutes to over an hour which involved a sim card replacement and testing spanning a few months. I was also promised 2 months free which didn't occur. Finally I was allow out of the contract after 5 months, costing me $200-300 and disrupting my thesis.

13662 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Absolutely appalling service at 21 Jan 2011 09:52:54 AM
Since day one I have been unable to send emails from my i phone 4.
Tried contacting Vodafail for an update yesterday and was on hold for 20 minutes before giving up. Same again today but wasted another 25 minutes. Still have no idea when and if the problem will be rectified. On top of this the data is slower than dial up and the call drop outs are no better.
Has anybody from VIC managed to get through and have an update?

13661 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is A Joke at 21 Jan 2011 09:50:12 AM
Constant wait times of over 40 mins to speak to someone that is very hard to understand to be told they can't help and need to transfer you to someone else with another 40min wait for them to tell me there is nothing they can do. 1 month into a 24 month contract and already spent over 7 hours on hold.
13660 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 21 Jan 2011 09:50:12 AM
I've been a long-standing customer and it's only out of sheer laziness I continue with them. I am loathe to ring their customer service cause when i hear the "Lara" recording my head wants to fly off my shoulders from sheer exasperation and annoyance. They make it difficult for us to get through to a human being cause they want to migrate us to the website channel. I don't even want to start on some of the problems I've had with their website over the years too! So, once through the myriad levels of Lara, if i need to speak to someone I will usually have to wait 45-60 minutes. Disgusting. Then I've had the experience of getting through to someone on the Indian sub-contintent, they have been unable to help me, redirect me to another number...which has then dropped out! NONE of their senior execs should be getting bonuses as the poor customer experiences across all touchpoints do not warrant reward!!The only good experience i've had with this company is really walking into the stores in Melbourne where the staff are lovely and seem to know what they're doing.
13659 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Its Horrible at 21 Jan 2011 09:49:54 AM
I changed to vodafail in early December and was told because of where I live/ worked I would be fine coverage wise!!!! What a lie I don't get any reception in my work building and I get hardly any at home. and talk about call drop outs i don't think Ive ever had a full conversation to someone that I haven't had to call back. They lied. When I went to a Vodafone store to speak to someone to get some help they told me it wasn't their problem and to call customer service. I told him that it was upto a 3 hour wait and didn't have that kind of time and he told me "They are the Breaks" I will never use them again as soon as my contract is up which is in 2 years unfortunately I will be going to Telstra. I should have listened in the first place and gone with them what a mistake!!!!!
13658 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 21 Jan 2011 09:48:48 AM
I signed up for iPhone 4. The 3G network reception is extremely poor. I don't get 3G coverage at many places. Why do I need an iPhone if I can only connect to fast 3G occasionally? The voice call signals are also getting poorer and poorer recently. I lost reception sometimes even at my office in Westmead.
13657 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Call drop out at 21 Jan 2011 09:48:43 AM
I live on the lower north shore and work in Sydney CBD. In both areas i am plagued continuously by call drop outs. The signal will be full strength one minute and no signal the next. Other phones in my household have the same difficulties so it is not a handset issue.
13656 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Useless at 21 Jan 2011 09:47:33 AM
I can't make a call in any buildings, not even my own house. The coverage is so inconsistent. When I travel out of coverage areas and then return, it can take hours to receive messages after I have regained service. Stuck in a contract for 2 years.
