Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

2135 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is completely unacceptable at 27 Dec 2010 11:49:20 AM
I am a Aussie soldier who ported to a VF prepaid from Optus because of their competitive rates. I was then deployed on short notice overseas for over 6 months. Obviously couldn't use my phone overseas but wanted to keep the plan going as I didn't want to lose that telephone number.
Called up VF customer (non)service when I was overseas, explained my dilemma, was informed that I would have to keep charging up my credit every 3 months or I would lose the number irregardless of the fact that I was serving my country overseas.
When I tried to pay by credit card I was told that I was unable to do so because they couldn't verify my identity (required a 100 point check and they would not accept military ID or even a letter from my CO).
Returned home to find my number cancelled and the 50 dollars worth of credit I originally had gone. Signed up for Optus the next day and haven't looked back.

2133 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Mobile ADSL at 27 Dec 2010 11:48:36 AM
I went with Vodafone last year as I was promised mobile roaming ADSL in China. When we arrived in Shanghai my mobile phone worked but no data for my laptop. We travelled to Changchun and still no data. I rang Vodafone in Australia and was told it must be a technical problem with my laptop. A month later and $800 worth of calls later they finally admitted that they don't have an agreement with either China Mobile of China Unicom for mobile ADSL, too bad. I was stunned that they had me playing around with settings for a month when they didn't provide the service as contracted. Their website was still advertising mobile ADSL in China. 3 months later. I threatened legal action for false advertising and other matters; they immediately released me from my contract and didn't bill me from the time that I left Australia. I then had no mobile phone service in China.
27 Dec 2010 12:03:07 PM: There's no such thing as "Mobile ADSL"
2132 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor customer service at 27 Dec 2010 11:48:34 AM
after i got my new iphone, it stopped getting service & i could not make any phone calls, i called vodafone for help and they went though some settings on my phone with me and then told me that i needed to take my phone into a vodafone to be sent away for repair. i told them that the sim card is my original one and that when i put it in other phones it says sim card registration failed. they insisted i needed to take my phone in for repair however seeming the sim card was failing in numerous phones i decided to go the a vodafone store and ask for a new sim card. once i put the new sim card in my phone worked again...
sadly the attitude of vodafone customer service is shocking and unacceptable...

2131 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is BAD at 27 Dec 2010 11:48:28 AM
I was with Vodafone for years, it took like 4 hours for someone to get a MMS from me. No Reception bad Drop Outs. You think with their call centre in Egypt they could afford to improve their network! But NOPE! They go and buy another Telco "3" yet their own network is crap! I since changed to telstra you might pay a few $$ more but at least it works and their customer service is in Australia. BONUS!
27 Dec 2010 11:50:17 AM: True i once sent a PXT at like 10am, the receiver didn't get it till like 3am in the morning. Let's just say they weren't impressed.
27 Dec 2010 11:52:20 AM: I've had that happen also pisses me off
27 Dec 2010 11:57:58 AM: Some of my texts can take up to 1 to 2 days to be received
27 Dec 2010 11:59:16 AM: it takes me 2 to 3 days to recieve MMS. It's a joke.
27 Dec 2010 12:02:01 PM: Their customer service is shocking too.
27 Dec 2010 12:02:53 PM: there txt/MMS service is a complete joke.. Hours, sometimes DAYS to send or receive a txt/sms.. just usually get the resend later BS..

27 Dec 2010 12:03:07 PM: LMAO VODAFONE TOLD ME IT WAS A ISSUE WITH MY FRIENDS NETWORK. GOOD TO SEE IT HAPPENS TO OTHERS ALSO STUPID VODAFONE LIARS
27 Dec 2010 12:08:42 PM: That one is a real issue their TXT/PXT service is rubbish. I think Australia Post could deliver a message faster then Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 01:02:48 PM: I have been having txt problems too for the last couple of weeks. Its so annoying specialy when your txting a guy you like and u dont know whether they got the txt or not and you are worried why they havnt replied :(
27 Dec 2010 01:12:35 PM: sometimes some of my sms are sent but never received at all !
and I'm ask them why dont you reply to my questions ? and the person's never even got it, am I still charged for this ?
and I'm ask them why dont you reply to my questions ? and the person's never even got it, am I still charged for this ?
27 Dec 2010 02:35:31 PM: It often takes me a day or two to send/recieve mms. My data speeds suck, even though I am within 2 km of the CBD. I get missed calls without ever ringing, i drop calls, i get patchy coverage. I'm a freelancer, so nothing is worse thatn a telco that doesnt do it right. I just want to swap to another carrier so i can use my phone. I pay $80 a month, and its not good enough. If i'd known about how bad it would have been, i wouldnt have signed up with vodafone.
27 Dec 2010 02:37:32 PM: Like the Tassie centre, Vodafone closed its Egyptian Call centre quite some time ago. My experience with the Egyptian centre was one of technical competence expertise and honesty.
All Vf Australia call centre is now in Mumbai[Bombay] India, where Vf has many regional service call centres. They operate 24/7 but Aust customers are restricted to 8 till 8. Why? Amongst all Indian Call centres, the Mumbai centre is rated the worst on all points by a country mile.

27 Dec 2010 02:56:43 PM: I was in the process of tryng to cancel my plan, when I was asked why - hey, I got no coverage in my home, no coverage in my suburb, random dropouts elsewhere. I was asked if I wanted to talk to the Techo's (in a distinctly indi-gangetic plain accent)to which I said, "No, I've had enough it isn't a technical problem with either my phone, home, suburb or me! I just want to cancel". This was after waiting some 20 mins in the queue. The response "That is nice sir, I'll just transfer you to the technical staff" followed by the equally inept "The operators are currently busy, please hold and we will transfer you to the first available representative". Aaaaargh! I guess there's a good reason they don't like to have a customer contact centre with customers face to face - they'd get the daylights punched out of them!!
Seriously this is not and hasn't been professional for sometime!!

2130 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 11:48:17 AM
My network speed is 0 even with full 3G reception. No point in having a contract with data if I can't even use the data. My messages can take up to 48 hours to be received by the person I am sending it too. My chances of making or receiving phone calls is pretty slim too as my number is always unavailable even if the phone is on with full reception. Oh and calling Vodafone results in a min 90 min wait! So much for a reliable telco anything they touch falls apart just look at our cricketers!!

2127 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Data at 27 Dec 2010 11:47:16 AM
I have 3 post paid contracts with Vodafone & we get charged for data when we are not even using the phones or if we have only connected for 5 minutes we get charged for 1 hour!! I must say I am happy with the cap they have provided us with. The LARA service is shocking & the waiting time is anywhere up to 40 minutes..
2126 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 11:46:50 AM
My daughter and I are both currently with Vodafone and now don't get reception around the corner from our home at my brother's house. We live in north-west suburban Melbourne. It had become somehting of a family joke, but it's not funny! We also travel around the state and in several locations where our friends on "3" have coverage, we don't. When I rang, they said there were no plans to alter this any time soon. When I asked about the "3", I was told that they were considered a different company. Whatthe????? So it's off to Telstra we go - both of us - me on a high, business plan and her on a substantial prepaid! Enough is enough!!!! Good on you for starting this site!
2125 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is excerable at 27 Dec 2010 11:46:38 AM
I look at my phone. It says full network coverage. I dial a number. It says zero network. Every freaking time. Don't know how I stop myself from throwing it against a wall.

2124 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:46:31 AM
Using a Vodafone 3G broadband in Harrison ACT with USB plug-in the data rarely connects, keeps dropping and when it does connect I would swear that a bit of string and two cans would provided a better data rate. The bit that bugs me is that the VF tower is 1km closer than the Telstra tower but my Telstra mobile gets excellent coverage (crap data allowance though). VF is closer and should be able to provide a more consistant coverage.

2122 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Isnt what it use to be at 27 Dec 2010 11:46:15 AM
I have been with vodafone ever since i got my first phone 5 years ago; it was great, now when people call me, it goes straight to message bank even though my phone is on and i have full service; most of the time my messages are delayed and i have friends trying to call me saying why havnt you replied or did you get my message; that is on the off chance that they actually get through to my phone;.. i mean vodafone is the best for all your plans and price costs; its just the network coverage and the delivery of messages as such.
2121 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is voda-pain at 27 Dec 2010 11:45:57 AM
Not really a mess, but annoying when I am chatting to someone and it drops out.Have been a customer for a long time and I think the reception has progessively diminished over the last 6 -12n months, when I complain they say its teething problems with merging the 3 network and vodaphone...
2120 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:45:19 AM
I purchased a phone from Vodaphone a while back. This Mobile was terrible. It would not ring, would automatically go to message bank whilst people called- even in places with good reception and overall i was just unhappy with it.
I contact Vodaphone to tell them i no longer wanted in this contract, seeming the phone and service were terrible and its not what i am paying for. I told them i will still have the courtesy to remain loyal and if they could swap me another phone, i would remain a Vodaphone pre-paid customer.
They sent me from store, to the telephone, back to store, back to telephone. No one said they could help me and i was binded to this contract, hence enslaving me to pay for a rubbish phone and rubbish service.
THIS IS NOT ON!

2119 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is terrible at 27 Dec 2010 11:45:13 AM
After weeks of trying to contact Vodafone, in a split decision, I decided to swap networks to Telstra's next G network...best decision ever...
Everyone always bitches on about the poor customer services...but id rather have poor customer service that i never have to use rather then what ever Vodafone has to offer.
At present, I have made a complaint to Vodafone and the TIO explaining that due to their poor service I switched networks and am un willing to pay the exit fee of $402....(after paying $130 for 18 of 24 months !!!

2118 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Failure! at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:57 AM
I have been a vodafone customer for many years and currently still have 1 year to go on my contract. Reception has been mostly good to ok until about 6 months ago where it went from ok to complete fail. When there is reception, calling a landline connects faster than calling another vodafone number. If an attempt to call fails, the time it takes to cancel the call causes my phone to stuff up until I go into flight mode and back out (or until I reboot the phone) to clear the cancelled call. Where there is no reception, I have to do the flight mode trick for the phone to attempt to connect to vodafone again. I have tested with sims from other carriers just in case it was my phone. Seems to work just fine with other sims.
I want to keep my mobile number but can't get out of my contract (without penalty) because I can't get hold of a vodafone support person. No reply via email. Going through formal complaints channel is taking too long. I want out now!

2117 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Needs to fix its "3" network coverage at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:48 AM
I have a THREE mobile broadband that is City Based. I get no reception even in outlying subs, such as Sunbury, Craigieburn, Melton and Cranbourne. I depend on my wireless BBand for communication, however the 3 netowrk coverage is just plain awful. It gives the option to roam to Telstra 2G (GPRS) in country areas at the rate of around $2 per MB. Given that Vodafone is itegrating the 3 network as its own and eliminating the 3 brand, then Vodafone had better review its 3 network Mobile Broadband with regard to extending coverage, otherwise it might as well shut the thing down
27 Dec 2010 11:51:15 AM: How moronic are you. Everyone knows that 3's coverage is only the metro area and going outside that roams onto telstra's network and off course there is going to be charges
27 Dec 2010 12:02:48 PM: Vodafone could change the roaming arrangements to allow roaming to its own network rather than telstra - thats if it HAS its own network beyond the cap cities
2116 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is PEEEED OFF at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:31 AM
Not a happy customer!!!!! Apparently i have not paid my bills but have proof from the bank and my mobile goes into emergency calls about 10 times a day. Not to mention i get cut off my calls constantly so yet vodafone are making some money here with me having to re-call people all the time. My mobile is not faulty either but have wondered to check the services etc on the OPTUS network. Be f**ked if im going to continue in paying my mobile bills. FIX THE NETWORK PROBLEMS!!!! NOT F**KING HAPPY!!!!!!
2115 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is huge at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:29 AM
I live 5 km from the cbd. Every call i make drops out the first time i call... sometimes i keep trying (out of sheer bloodymindedness) and sometimes the call will actually stay connected for a while. But mostly it won't. And call quality is crap. Thank goodness i'm out of contract in less than 2 months - goodbye vodafail!!
2114 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is crap at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:28 AM
In the Macarthur (Camden,Narellan & Campbelltown) area my vodafail is regularly experiencing connection drops outs. The 3G is always switching over to 2G or E. Often the signal strength just goes dead. The is no reception in Mt Annan. Again like alot of testimonies I thought it was just me.
2113 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more painful that having a tooth removed without anaesthetic at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:24 AM
I have no data coverage and I live in the middle of Brisbane!!! I have just signed a contract for 2 years and am really dissapointed that I have minimal if no coverage Also, I went into 3 Vodafone in the city and asked if someone could help me with setting up my HTC. I have a hotmail account and for some reason it won't verify. The guy at the shop pretty much looked at it and said for me to ring Vodafone support and then proceeded to write the number down. I also asked if he could cancel my prepaid internet with 3 as I now (well I'm suppose to) have vodafone internet. He then gave me another number to call...... !!! I am sick of ringing Vodafone only to speak to someone on the other side of the world who have no idea and no people skills..... I am a single Mum who feels like I have been told lies just to get a sale. I feel sad that I have to pay an amount per month for a service that doesn't do what it is supposed to. I knew I should have never gone into a Vodafone store.......
2112 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is no coverage in my house at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:22 AM
When I signed over to Voda I was told there will be no difference in coverage and call quality. However I have not been able to get coverage inside my own residence. When checking thier coverage maps I am in a full coverage area.
Also I do not get coverage in carpark basements even tho workmates beside me have no problems.
Call quality is also poor.
I am using HTC Desire, non telstra version.

2111 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is regularly at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:11 AM
Absolute shocker, in at least 3 locations in Perth, a call drops out and there are several more locations where I get sick of saying"hello" Hello" "can you hear me" or at other times, the person I am talking to interrupts me to advise that they cannot hear me. My phone regularly goes to voicemail because the signal is so bad at my home
2110 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is is a recent failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:05 AM
Up until about 6 weeks ago I found Vodafone okay, no problems with calls, texts or service, but now my calls just drop out, text messages are arriving days after people send them, my phone is telling people who ring me thats its switched off or send them threw to my voicemail when its on and has full service and coverage. When I rang to complain about the service it took me an 1hr and 40 minutes to get threw... Not good enough Vodafone, i'll be switching provides when my contract runs out in a next month...
27 Dec 2010 02:14:15 PM: I can't wait till my contract with vodafone is over in 6 weeks !!! Goodtimes ahead!!! They offered me a iphone 4 if i sign up for 2 more years but i think a 8 week delivery time is pretty ordinary, and the coverage is pretty poor concidering my metro location
2109 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Forgotten Bill's at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:48 AM
i recently got my phone bill from VodaCrap, i get it emailed to me each month as im on a contact. the bills didnt not come for approx 3 months & every time i spoke to a so called vodafone representative they told me they would fix the problem. 3 months later i get this huge bill, however, even though i would have had to pay the money anyways its not professional at all to forget to send bills to your customers then make fake promises the bills sell be sent when the customer asked to pay you money!!!

2107 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 3? at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:15 AM
Is vodafone also the owners of 3? I have had trouble with them for 18 months and have low coverage, can never access voicemail yet am still charged for it.
Am I right it saying Vodafone owns 3?
Am I right it saying Vodafone owns 3?
27 Dec 2010 11:54:48 AM: Vodafone and Hutchisson's (Operators of 3) "merged", with Vodafone being the senior partner. Thus, Vodafone brand is scheduled to displace the 3 brand, likely within 12 months. Localities with "3" shops and Vodafone shops in close proximity will see one of the two being closed as part of the staff rationalisation program built into the integration process. How this affects 3 services is to be seen, but 3 in its coverage area is significantly faster than Vodafone's 3G service. I wouldn't mind one of the plastic 3's from the stores they'll refit or close !
27 Dec 2010 12:06:13 PM: 3 and Vodafone are owned by the same company but at this point of time are still two seperate intities.. Kind of like Coles Super Markets and Kmarts, they are both owned by coles but are still two different companies. However, 3 and Vodafone will be eventually the same thing.
2106 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is the worst at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:13 AM
I changed from Virgin(thinking they were not very good reception wise) to Vodafone only to be terribly disappointed. I live in Wynnum & constantly have no signal. I have to walk outside & once I have a signal have to stand very still incase it drops out. I am more without a service than with. If I am in the Redland Bay area, I never have a signal as well. This is just pathetic. There is also a case of a delay in receiving sms'. Vodafone is the worst & once my contract is up with them, I will definitely be changing carriers.
2105 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:11 AM
I recieved a brochure in the mail offering a free mobile phone upgrade 3 months before my contract was due to end if I signed up for another 24 month contract. As my E71 was already on its last legs and I had been satisfied with my plan for the last 10 years I decided to take advantage of this offer. I went in to an allphones store and asked the salesman about the offer. He said he could do the upgrade for me in store as he was an authorised vodafone dealer. When I tried to sign up for my new phone he told me that the representative from vodafone that he was talking to on the phone said my plan had been discontinued but I could sign on to the new $49 cap which was an identical plan with the exact same call rates just under a different name and with a bonus 1.5gb of data and more call credit. So naturally I thought I was getting a great deal and signed up for this new phone, extra monthly credit and data allowance on a plan I was GUARANTEED was identical to my old one as far as call costs etc. In ten years I have never once exceeded my $49 cap so imagine my surprise and anger when I recieve a $316 bill and then a $424 bill after making LESS calls than I normally would in a month on my old plan. So I went back to the dealer and demanded he fix my plan but he said the only people who could change the plan were vodafone. After 3 visits in store to vodafone lasting about 10hrs and a further 8 or more hours arguing with the jerks in their call centre on the phone who refused to let me speak to anyone higher up I am still lumped with a 24 month plan costing me hundreds of dollars every month. The only solution they would offer me was to increase my plan to the $69 cap (which I should not have had to do at all) and they assured me that should cover all my calls but guess what? My next bill still cost me almost $100! NOT HAPPY AT ALL! I WANT MY OLD PLAN BACK AND THEY CAN JAM THEIR NEW PHONE UP THEIR A$$. I could have purchased that phone outright ten times and stayed on my old plan for what this new one is going to cost me!
2104 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:42:51 AM
My new i-phone would only receive voicemail messages after up to 4 days later. (Not immediately as one would expect) I lost over $300 worth of work in my detailing business directly as a result of not receiving the notifications in a timely manner. Waited on hold for 70 mins, being transferred from one department to another, to try to fix this. It ended up being something they knew about, that they'd put in place to 'avoid glitches in the system '. When I complained about my lost income as a direct result of this 'quickfix'they 'generously'compensated me $10. Oh,...and I did get a 'sorry'.

Basic things like being able to send text messages, make phone calls, send MMS messages, connect to the internet. IN MELB METRO AREA!!! ARE NOT RELIABLE. Pretty pathetic really.. from a supposed 'world class' service provider.
2102 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 11:42:15 AM
I have calls that drop out. I have messages that take days to get through either sending or receiving, if it is important I'll call to make sure the information gets throught immediately. i get no coverage from the Bruce highway Gympie turnoff right through to Tin Can Bay. The very place where if you breakdown you have to wait for someone to stop as it is so farawy from civilisation. My sister called and left a voiemail for me to attend a function for her daughters, there was no missed call alert or a voicemail message, so I was pissed at her for not being invited until I found out where my parents were, I felt like an after thought. Until I got another voicemail then I found out I had 2 which ended up being the one from my sister just getting it about a week late. i'll send text messages and the recipient will get it 4 or 5 times instead of once and vice versa. i just wonder if I am being charged once or the 4 or 5 times they receive them
2101 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible Reception at 27 Dec 2010 11:42:03 AM
I have little or no reception at home - but at my place of work 10mins up the road - the service is fine. Internet speed is non-existant, during calls people always say they can't hear me but I have close to full reception. Until I turned off my messagebank service I always used to get voicemail messages without my phone even ringing or registering a missed call. I don't have a land line at home - I am on a Cap plan and shouldn't really need it - if I had deacent service!!!

Moved about 1km away to a new house. Phone worked great .. then out of nowhere about 2 months later for no apparent reason I could no longer get reception from inside my house. I had to sit outside in the middle of my yard to get reception. EPIC FAIL. Now with Telstra .. not as great value (in theory) and more expensive BUT calls / texts / voicemail work EVERY time without fail and customer service is available 24/7 with a real person to answer and help.

2098 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No Coverage at 27 Dec 2010 11:41:08 AM
We are staying with our son in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. We are in a normal neighborhood that should not have any problems with coverage. If I want to send a message or send or recieve a phone call I have to go into one corner of the house and I mean stand in a corner next to the wall to make a call or send a message. If I step one foot out of this corner I will lose my call or my message will not be sent. What is that all about? My son has Optus and his mobile phone is fine.

Im a prepay customer for more than 10 years. Service getting progresssively worst. No connection, drop outs, slow message delivery and receipt. Even received other peoples voicemail delivered to my message centre. How they get away with saying that $29 is actually worth $150?? When you buy $50 worth of anything you usually get $50 worth. Currently I have 63 cents balance and $90 of Vodafone to Vodafone credit. Try and make a call and warned that I do not have enough credit to make a call. Getting pretty bloody expensive to make a call. Looking at investing in Homing pidgeons. You feed mine and I will feed yours. Messsage is reliably delivered everytime regardless of distance.

I have moved from 3 to vodafone due to better deal about 3-4 months ago and also 3 and vodafone merged. Since vodafone experience is all bad, have dropped my phone from service many time, I had no phone working for a week and recently for a day. 11th dec disaster was really bad for me as it was my birthday. Also when we call it has extremely long delay and also talking with Lara (computer lady) is no fun, as Lara does not understand what is the problem. I am really sick of it.

I got charged $20 in excess in my past billing. Fed-up calling vodafone customer care close to 4 times and spending each time over 20 minutes with no one from customer care able to solve my issue. Every time after a long try somebody comes in the line and says their software is down and they cannot access my account and hence cannot provide any solution. Fed-up i thought wasting my time over 1 hour in total costed me much more than $20 that i was chasing up. Thanks to your initiate on starting something like this which really makes people like me who never go to the extend of filing a compliant officially (because of the stated reason)but to share my pain. Pl advise if anyways that i could support your initiative
2091 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Oh so fail. at 27 Dec 2010 11:39:42 AM
As well as the usual thing of receiving texts 5 hours after they were sent and being the only person to be unable to send/receive calls or messages on NYE because I foolishly stuck with Vodafone while everyone on Telstra, Optus happily texts away, I have another Vodafail. I recently got an iPhone and needed to transfer my sim details to a micro-sim. I called Vodafone who said they would send me the sim then I would 'simply have to call them' to activate it.
I received my sim and dialled the customer care line first thing in the morning (06:00) I heard a message that said they were experiencing higher than normal volumes of calls and it would take more than 30 minutes to answer my call. An hour on hold went by and I'd still not got anywhere, so I drove the 45 minutes to work with my phone on speaker on the passenger seat just to see if they would pick up. No. Not the next hour either, or the one after.
I had my phone on my desk on speaker while I worked and had others call the same number to see if it was just me, but no. At 11:00 the line went dead. I went to a Vodafone store in my lunch break to try and get it sorted, and the sales assistant said he could not help me. He said I have to call customer care. When I replied that I'd been on hold with them for five hours, he claimed I should have had no problem as they'd been calling the same number all day. I said I was not spending more time on the phone and please just sort it out for me here. He replied there was no way he could, so I left, walked 20 metres to the Optus store and I have not had a problem since (they could help me, funnily enough!).
I'd been with Vodafone for over 6 years (appreciated the value for money basically) but I've had enough of their shocking service.

I work for the Australian Defence Force and signed up with Vodafone 3 years ago. Anywhere outside of a major metropolitan area the reception just dies away into nothing. This is expected as I know they don't have the network coverage of Telstra or Optus. But I was smack bang in the middle of Canberra and was still getting 1 - 2 bars max (out of 5) as opposed to my friend who was getting 5 with Optus.

I was with Vodafone for over a year, fortunately I was prepared to go through all the crap to rid myself of them.
I had wireless broadband, never got more than 10mins on the net before I lost the connection.
The most infuriating thing for me was trying to contact them. Sometimes Id wait up to 30mins to get through. Then when i realised i wasnt speaking to someone in Australia I demanded to be put through to someone here.
That irritating "Voice Recognition" system they have "Im Lara, all you have to do is talk to me" obviously designed to keep you on hold as long as possible in the hope that youll just give up!!
They still kept sending me bills up to 5months after id finally paid up and finished with them.I finally called them again, and again "30 mins" on hold, got the operator to look up my details, to be told "Oh, youre no longer a customer" Duh!! She said she would stop the bills coming. No bills so far, but im still not convinced theyve stopped. Vodafone were without a doubt the "Worst" company I have ever dealt with and I will "Never" go near them again.

I signed up my little girl's phone to the 3s $29 cap plan and was told she would only have to pay $19 a month for the first 12 months. Well that lasted for 2 months and was told they would fix the problem. Now we have no choice but to pay the full amount. Don't believe their advertising it's very misleading.

We were on vodafone a few years back. The coverage was just so bad; had to stand on one small spot in the house or go to a few spots outside to get some reception. We are 17km out of town so we thought that could be the reason. We then decided to change service provider and have full coverage at any place in the house. Vodafone contacted us by phone a few times a couple of months ago inviting us in very creamy terms, to use them again. After our previous experience with them, I think we will never go back - no, thank you!

I have had countless emails (ok, I counted, about 10 replies), and two endless phonecalls which were bounced around, regarding the inability of the iphone they provided me with to receive MMSs
They suggested a number of times that it is not their problem, and that instead, I should contact the service providers of ALL my friends, and ask THEM why they aren't sending the MMS's through
Vodfone infuriates me
Also, of course, I have dropped calls, voicemails not received, and texts which don't go through.

My sister is connected with 3/vodafone and was travelling overseas. She rang up to disable the internet. When she was over there she got a message saying warning internet being charged so she rang them to find out and discovered that they had not disabled the internet/global roaming and that she had been charged $600 in 1 day! She rang them from the US and the lady admitted fault and said that she could dispute the bill when she returned back. After returning back, she discovered that not only had the internet not been turned off again, she had been now charged over $1000, keeping in mind that she is using a very basic nokia that hardly supports internet. Once my dad called to dispute this, they said that they had no record of any calls and that we have to pay for exact amount with no credit! This is just an absolute rort! 3 mobile being part of vodafone are thieves, and to make it worse you are speaking to some one in India who hardly understands a word you are saying. With my experience with vodafone also, I would never sign another contract with them or 3 mobile!

Signed up for a new phone with a $69 dollar plan with 3 months wavered off the 12 month contract little did i know i signed up to a huge mistake. problems first began when i tried to transfer my original number to my new phone where the temporary number that vodafone gave me that already HAD A SUPSCRIPTION SIGNED ONTO IT!!! if not to make the matter worse when i called them up about it they just said you have to pay for it and call the subscriber to reimburse you. After that i havnt been able to make a call on my phone and send any texts, it is absolutely pathetic and it has been going on for the past month, with me thinking that it is just a temporary issue that would be solved quickly, but clearly it wasn't. THEN... yes there is more... my 3 months that had been wavered had not been apart of my plan apparently, although i know 100% that it was in my contract, after a lengthy call that had been fixed but still it is a very poor performance from vodafone, a contract is a legally binding document it ISN'T something you should get wrong!. Signed up with TransACT who use the vodafail network on their mobile broadband $29 a month cap. Guess what? Sod-all reception despite the fact I lived two blocks away from TransACT head office. TransACT said that it was a dodgy modem, so they replaced it. Three times. When work took me to the Northern Territory, I asked if I could get coverage in Darwin, to which I was informed that Vodafone covered the whole NT.
I moved into my apartment at the CBD and guess what? No reception. Popped into Vodafail in the mall who laughed at me when I asked why I wasn't getting reception. Response? "Unless you live in Berrimah you won't get reception."
Quick call to TransACT and then to the TIO, and had a written apology and refund within a week. Never using them again.

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for over 10 years and it's a shame to experience in the last 2 years it's decline in services. Vodafone is falling apart. My problems encountered are:
- having to break my internet broadband contract as internet service, which once worked fine completely ceased in the area I live in.
- after breaking the contract, receiving ongoing bills for months and having to make several attempts on the phone and in store to have the bills cancelled.
- I changed my mobile number and this reset everything in the system, so I no longer was able to receive MMS, internet or have my bills sent to my email. I also was unable to access voicemail settings for some unknown reason.
- It took 4 phone calls and a visit in store to rectify the abovementioned.
LETS NOT FORGET
- Constant delays in text messaging
- 45 minute wait on hold to customer service (at all times)
- Constant outage nation wide, especially when it's 2am and you have a medical emergency.
I have 6 months left on my phone contract, I will be changing carrier and will boycot Vodafail forever. I have already moved to another carrier for my net services and am satisfied.

I have been with Vodafone for a few years, promised same reception as telstra, though i dont get service very often at all. I use these phones for work and very rarely get reception.Since the two companies have joined i cannot make calls at all, Cannot call out, if someone does eventually get through calls drop out, I have contacted Vodafone and they have told me they will do a check on my phones,as they dont have a problem it must be my phones. The Cancellation team also have told me they want me to pay the exit fees on the service which I am not willing to pay as I am not getting a service and never have had a great service with Vodafone. All lies about there Service.

Another issue. I went into the store to get a new phone .. the order went through but the idiot behind the desk forgot to put a number in my order so I was approved for '0' phones. They put through again and was assured it would be an hour or two so stuck around shopping and came back nothing so had to cancel. Came back next week to do it same thing order never came back so cancelled again. Came back NEXT week and I was rejected because of my credit history. Paid $160 to have a look at my credit report only to find only thing on there was vodafone order x 3 rejected which is a lie they were simply cancelled. In other words they made it look like I got disapproved and kept applying thus I am now unable to get a phone on credit thanks to lovely Vodafone.

We recently paid out my contract because of lack of service. We are in sydney and do not get reception. Although when we got the phone the salesperson said they checked and saw we had complete reception but if not then to bring it back in to cancel the contract. When we did so we were told that there was no one who would say such a thing etc etc. This is a real shame as i remember when i first got a mobile phone there only carrier who had reception at Newcastle uni was Vodaphone. There was also the usual problems with text and voice messages received days later including on efrom my child's daycare to say he had a nasty bump and i needed to pick him up asap - it was 24hrs later that the msg came through.

Even if im anywhere its when wanting to make a call rather no reception or randomly my phone switches off!! Its absolutely ridiculous.

2064 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is pretty poor at 27 Dec 2010 11:34:08 AM
I have been with vodafone for about 4 years, here its probably the best of a bad bunch. I constantly lose reception, messages can take several days to get through, I have hours where the reception just fades in and out. When I first started with them, the service was heaps better but is just going backwards now

i have two phone in contract with vodaphone and i have raised the point that i have reception issues everywher i go.also i have drop outs and bad internet usage. i actual called vodaphone where i was on hold for 80 min. while i was on hold i sent them an email stating my fustrations. nobody respomed to me. a week later i got a call from vodaphone. they issed me a $49 credit on my phone becuase i was on hold for 80 min. however when it came to the serivce they blamed it on th sim card and the phone. i went through the steps that they told me to do to rectify this issue but the propblem is still not fixed. i just gave up. but now i am holding hope with this website. please help me get my phones out of vodaphone

I have been on this plan for just on two weeks and I had switched from Telstra. I was sick of them! But to come to Vodafone and get this type of start! Calls dropping out in the blink of an eye in the middle of the city. Another thing their customer service is worse then Telstra they are rude and totally inconsiderate. Get on the game Vodafone. At the moment your pathetic.
2061 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is a truck load of fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:33:27 AM
I've been suffering with call drops, slow data speeds, little to no reception (in the middle of perth) and deferred messages. I went to my local vodafone store to try and sort things out but was told because I've only made one formal complaint, which was about my billing, there's basically nothing I can do about it because it's their word against mine...
What ever happened to customer service? I'm disgusted.

Interesting disparity in the number of complaints from different states. Even after accounting for the population of each State, it's clear that the problems are mostly affecting the south-east. For example:
- ACT has over 1/3rd of the complaints as VIC, with only 1/15th of VIC's population). Even more telling, it has four times as many complaints as WA, with around 1/8th of WA's population.
- QLD has half the complaints that VIC does, despite having a similar population.
- Barely any complaints from WA and SA, which both have populations in the millions.
So I think we can say that NSW and the ACT are by far the most affected, with VIC moderately affected, and the rest of the States nowhere near as bad.

There have been consistent problems with their network, but yesterday could not make or receive calls in Auburn NSW 2144, even though I visibly had enough reception bars on the phone, JUST NOT ON!

i dont really know where to start, from there call center operators to there hopeless reception and data services, for over 3 months i have spent over 7 hours calling the call center up to get my data services fixed, first of all they said they will get back to me within 72 hours for the tech dept to see what the problems is, 4 days later i called back cause no one got back to me and they told me that someone cancelled the request WTF??? so i had to wait another 72 hours cause i told them to reopen the case, no one got back to me, i went overseas on 27/11/10- 2-12-12 and wanted to use roaming there so i called up 1555 but the guy didnt know what i was talking about and he couldnt help me and said he will call me back asap, but he didnt, so i made another call and the guy helped me, i came back to aust and no one has gotten back to me about the data service so i made another call(note that it takes around 30 mins to get through to someone) i wanted to cancell my contract cause i think they breached the contract by not providing me a service in my contract, so retention person told me she will give me 2 months free access, but i just wanted the data service to be fixed , she said she will call me the next day and tell me whats happening, and guess what !! no phone call, i waited a few days to see if i will get that call but no, so i made another call, waited 60 mins to get thru !!, so i get really angry and they advised me they can give me another 2 more free months acess 2+2=4 months, so i waited and waited till 2 days ago and made another call just to see what the outcome is with my data services and yet they dont recall giving me a total of 4 months free access only 2, so they tranfered me to someother dept and FINALLY someone from australia was on the other side and he made me wait 5 mins and saw that there was a total of 4 months and he told me that there was upgrades in your area, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHY MY DATA WASNT WORKING IT TOOK THEM THIS LONG TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER OF LIES AND MISLEADING INFORMATION and it took someone from australia to get the problem fixed

It's been happening more and more in Sydney's CBD area that I don' receive text messages until a day later, and that's vodafail to vodafail! Stuck on a contract but in five months time I'll be moving on far away from vodafone!
Vodafail also can't seem to stay connected to the 3g network as I'm sure most of the time it's 2g or E for me, not what I signed up for! =/

Extremely poor reception in the centre of Newcastle (Mostly one or two bars of reception and never full), very poor battery life on my new iPhone4, frequent call drop outs and data speeds that are slower than 1998 dial up internet. Thought i would even add that even driving past the Vodafone Towers in Chatswood i didn't even have full reception

Not on a plan just buy credits. But have copped drop-outs and my service not picking up "missed calls" for over the period with them...years!
We (4 family members) use this service and all have the same issues.
I thought friends had not contacted me (missed calls)and they have rang me at home saying they tried my mobile and couldn't get through? We believed because we were "regional" central coast nsw it was just par for the course?

Living in Darwin, we are used to being the last for pretty much everything. Vodafone FINALLY enabled 3G up here in late 2008. After getting my iPhone 4, i was a little concerned at the 3G performance and thought it was a faulty device. After a trip to Canberra, i realised that wasn't the case. the Vodafone data speeds in Canberra were 20 fold faster than in Darwin! i have all sorts of speed test results from Darwin and Canberra

2049 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is the worst at 27 Dec 2010 11:31:37 AM
I have 2 contract phones with Vodafone and not only do they always drop out of reception, fail on calls and I swear I get charged for things I was originally told were included in my contract but even trying to get hold of Vodafone is a joke, last time it took 4 days of calling Vodafone to order a new ph, they told me to visit my nearest Vodafone store and when I did they told me to go and call Vodafone again they couldnt help me, the staff promise to call you back .... and never do, they forgot to order my new Blackberry and after calling 2 weeks later to see where it was told me it had never been ordered meanwhile my business was suffering. Vodafone is a joke here in Australia and trying to complain to them leaves with getting automated email replies and no real person to talk too.

2047 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Customer Support??? at 27 Dec 2010 11:31:24 AM
I called the customer support number for three whole months to update my credit card details for getting phone credit. No matter which option I took on the automatic voice thingy it would hang up on me at the very end after dialing. Took to the website ... never heard back. Eventually 3 months later the service was up and running again. I guess a few customer support people got paid to do nothing for 3 months while no calls could get through the automated service.

I am not ina mess now! BUT!!! I joined Vodafone in July. I onformed them I needed an account where I could send TEXTS to Sri Lanka, and that there are hundreds per month. I informed them of my fiance's Phone Provider. They said that is not an issue. I got the new Sim Card, alerted all family and friends my new number. Closed my long standing account with Optus, and thought I had found the BEST phone Plan... WRONG!! The Text messages would not go through. I called Vodafone and alerted them. They then told me they do not support my fiancee's network provider, when they assured me they did. I was ANGRY.... I had signed a month by month contract for 12 months. I can't remember what happened next, but the next day I called them again. They said that my fiancee's phone provider WAS the ONLY one the covered, yet the day before I had been told conflicting stories. I was fuming. I told them to shove the SIM card up their ASS and that I would not be paying a cent for any calls I made. I then emailed headoffice and they agreed with my story and cancelled my number, but it still took over a month for them to clear the bill, which was $3-$4 dollars. The network providers we are talking about in Sri Lanka are Airtel and Dialog. I WILL NEVER USE VODAFONE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM!!!

Half the time I don't have reception even in areas where I used to be able to get reception, so making calls is a pain and I don't know what messages I am not receving. I keep seeing this 3G thing on my phone which seems to never have any reception. I don't know what it is and I don't remember asking for it? Never used to happen...
2042 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Poor is not the correct word at 27 Dec 2010 11:30:08 AM
I was with Vodaphone and like evryone else was annoyed at the poor signal strength and drop puts. I contacted (tried to) service support. Each time was advised that there was a 40 minute wait (regardless of local time)...never 10, 20, 30 etc but always 40. I then did the "call me back thing" and I was called within 15 minutes (so what happened to to 40 minutes....thay had lied). Triedt to log into my account but could not log in. They reset my password, but still could not log in. My final straw was when I visited a Vodaphone store to cancell my account (I was not on contract thankfully) only to be told that I could not do it there atn that I would have to do it either online or over the phone.........what a terrible way to run a business

Im in Cronulla and it takes me 3-4 but (once 9 times) to make calls to anyone, then when I do connect it drops out 2 or 3 times so i have to call again. Trying to access the internet is an absolute joke and very frustrating. I don't know why we should pay for such a crap service. Vodafone are not supplying the quality service they promise their customers. My brother who I live with also has a vodafone wireless dongle which is just as bad and i'm worried he's going to throw his new laptop at the wall out of frustration.

I have been a loyal customer of theirs for years. Im READY TO CHANGE~! I wanted to upgrade my phone to an iphone 4. I was told at WATERGARDENS VODAFONE that i will be on a WAITING LIST for this upgrade because they had none in stock. 2 MONTHS WENT PAST my partner called to check up, nothing and confirmed that we are on that list. 6 MONTHS LATER we went to the store and then they tell us THERE WAS NO SUCH LIST AT ALL!!
27 Dec 2010 11:31:29 AM: you need to contact Vodafone to upgrade as upgrades aren't done at store level. Stores are not meant to have waiting lists.
27 Dec 2010 11:41:57 AM: I've been told by a few different 3/Voda stores that I could be put on a waiting list.
27 Dec 2010 11:55:28 AM: A bulliten was published a week ago for all upgrading customers on 3 and Voda to contact them directly
27 Dec 2010 11:59:49 AM: It's not a company run store it's a third party dealer, as company run stores are not able to complete upgrades at a store level
27 Dec 2010 12:07:42 PM: Dealers are also not allowed to do upgrades at store level
27 Dec 2010 12:54:41 PM: But they sometimes do waiting lists
27 Dec 2010 01:20:15 PM: i think the main problem here is that they waited 6 months for an iphone 4... you never go full retard :S

Locked in a useless contract for the next 2 years when i can't get any coverage where i live. They failed to tell me this when i wrote my address down. Huge rip off. Can not see how they get away with it. I have complained and was told I had to pay my contract out, when they aren't providing the service i signed up for. Biggest scam artist out there. Maybe we should get a hold of ACA or today tonight then we might see some action as there seems to be alot of us

I got a Blackberry Storm on a $29 contract for 24 months, then I was offered a $10 on top of the $29 for free internet and phone calls, I thought well why not, so on the 1st June I got a Blackberry Storm paying $39 a month.
On the 10th August I got my first bill after two months, saying I owed $3000 after barley even using the Internet or phone itself, I fought Vodafone for a whole month, finally on the 21st September, Vodafone brought the debt from $3000 to $500, since then I have not paid and single cent, I thought this was odd, since then I have not even touched my phone, and on the 19th November, I got my 2nd Statement and it said I owed $1300, now that I have not touched my phone and they are still charging me, since then they have sent the debt to a debt collector and I am fighting them that I am not going to pay it, but since 3 weeks ago they stopped harassing me and now I realize that Vodafone is scared. I have been fighting this since, the Blackberry Storm is supposed to have the best reception in Townsville, 80% of the time there was no service or it was very bad.
I will go to court to shut Vodafone down it is about time people stood up to these low life scum.
