Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

call drop outs, delayed sms, cannot send mms. Cannot load safari searches or use the internet to you tube or play words with friends! Can't sign into my netbank to transfer money when I need it...the list goes on! Called twice about the problem and was advised that network problems will not be fixed until July - therefore implying that I had to put up with it for another 2 months or so. Told me to give them addresses and postcodes of every area that I visit so they can tell me if I can use my phone there or not - Why would I NEED a 'MOBILE' phone that can only be used in selected areas~! Plus I DO NOT KNOW where I'll be going for every day of my future life!
Every single time I'm transferred from one part of India to another they ask me the same questions I told the first - Your name, phone number and PIN. Why on earth do they bother asking you to enter it into the phone in the first place?! Cause the first person to pick up the phone STILL ASKS!
No customer service what so ever. Biggest waste of time!

for the last two weeks i have only been getting reception 30-40% of the time, i can never use my phone- receive calls, txts, send txts, etc, i cant connect to the internet, i cant do anything, and its infuriating to think this is the kind of shit i am paying for. come to think about it, it has been unreliable since the grand prix. a friend has the same problem. initially we pawned it off to the crowds and all the phones/signal interference, but the problem has been lingering! what is going on i've had enough.

17938 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is one bar at 13 May 2011 11:20:32 AM
I live 7 km from Melbourne and get either one bar or no service. When I use the phone it is a bad line and prone to cut out.
17937 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 13 May 2011 11:18:40 AM
I live and work 6.5 km from the centre of Melbourne. My reception is at best 2 bars but most time one bar or no service. I can not make a phone call from anywhere in the office or home without the possibility of the phone dropping out.
I travel to many countries - I can not get reception in these countries where 3 Optus and Telstra can get them.
I have moved my sim to other phones and the issue is the same. - so its not the phone which is an iphone

In the Melbourne cbd it started raining and my phone did not gave a signal for 2 hours. I wonder what I'm paying for. This is a common occurrence. I'm going to ring them now and ask them what the go is. Do not go with Vodafone, what's the point of having 'infinite calls' if you can't use them. Please do not use Vodafone, it will anger you and they will steal your money. I have one more year in my contract then bye bye Vodafail. 3 g does not even work.
17934 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is So very, very fail at 13 May 2011 10:47:38 AM
I have now contacted Vodafone twice. The first time I was promptly told that my issue was resolved, which it most certainly was NOT.
I then send another complaint through and was told that I would receive a response within two days. It has been almost a week and I've heard nothing from them. Since starting my cap with them I've experienced drop-outs and unset SMS's. The apparent 3G I'm supposed to have access to is a joke. I own an Amazon Kindle and the free (yes. You read that right. FREE) 3G it provides is at LEAST 70% faster (the only drawback is that it's in black and white, but I can live with that).
I've not paid a bill in two months. I have absolutely no intention of sending these clowns a single cent of my hard-earned money to support their lies and horrible customer service. I am currently in the middle of drafting a letter to the TIO, including the two complaints I send through before today. I will not tolerate their horrendous service any longer. My money will be going to Telstra from now on.

I have a remaining 6 months on my contract and i simply have had enough of vodafone. How can i get out of the contract without paying it out? Can i sight the recent "privacy issues" over Christmas?
12 May 2011 11:22:54 PM: The privacy issues were pretty much debunked as being blown out of proportion by the media. You'd be better sighting coverage issues.

Never receive voicemail SMS's to let me know I have messages, Never receive account balance SMS after recharging my pre-paid, Pre-paid value has dropped significantly (No more free SMS or V2V minutes or bonus's when recharging).
I have no reception 80% of the time, it drops in and out, but I mostly only get the 1 bar of it, I realise I might not live in Sydney but every other network has full coverage around this area (Maitland,NSW), Also, any free data allowance is useless as I never have enough reception to use the net on my smartphone.
Also I was told that my phone does not support MMS or Internet by staff at the local Vodafail store, despite the fact it is a brand new, vodafone supported, HTC smart phone (Legend), I have since fixed this issue myself (So thanks for that Vodafail staff of Green Hills shopping centre near Maitland NSW)

I was with 3 before and just signed new contract with Vodafone. I have only 2 addresses the most using telephone, one is home and one is company. At home, there is no 3G network and 2 bars 2G network. At company, there is completely no signal at all, 3G, 2G...I called them 3 times and they give me the same reason: "network upgrading". They offered me 3 discount months on my bill for me and my wife. After a week, I couldn't stand on that problem any more and call them again. They transfered me back to 3 and hope I can use 3 network like before. I just worry 3 network getting worst after Vodafone took over. I have some friends who working for Vodafone before and they are all using Telstra, very funny isn't it. I would never sign a contract with Vodafone again, never, never..

so after many months of back and forth with vodafone call centers and senior executives (google for their email addresses) they finally decided to release me from my contract. they promised to call me back in two days with a payout offer.
after 10 or so days they haven't called me back. then my phone starts showing 'no service'. i check the website to see if there has been yet-another-coverage-fault but it seems not. i call them up and discover that they have disconnected my number. without telling me.
it turns out that they agreed to cancel my contract for free and waive all payout fees. yay. but they never called me to tell me about this. they also decided to disconnect my number without calling me.
now i am stuck in no man's land without a vodafone service and without the ability to port my number somewhere else. four separate vodafone people have told me they will reconnect my service ASAP but so far it has been 36hrs and nothing has been done.
even when vodafone try to be nice to customers they f**k it up.

SO I call up because my son's phone stopped working. Turned out the prepaid expired and I didn't recharge it. Simple right? Well - I spent an HOUR trying to convince the person that the number was mine - gave another number to check against, she had no idea what was going on, then - after an hour - I'm put through to some rude lady (with worse accent - you know where from - great cricketers) couldn't tell me anything beyond "You need to go get a new sim, then activate it, then blah blah....". I asked for the balance I lost, and what was the balance on the other prepaid I have. "Sorry sir, I cannot tell you that".
So - screw Vodafail (and Three btw - my phone has been going weird past month) - I'M HEADING BACK TO TEL$TRA!!! YEAH!!!

My phone is showing "no service" in Perth Metro(CBD). There is no service on 3G. It is happening again and again for last few days.
Can not access any data or make call for which I am paying every month at the moment? Sometimes when I am making calls it takes ages to connect. They can fine customers if they don't pay bill on time. Looks like there is no one to take care of Vodafone. Where is communication minister? He needs to come out of NBN to take care of Vodafone "THE COMPLETE FAIL"

im currently on 3 and my handset has broken a total of 5 times and after the third a vodaphone representative informed me that if my phone broke again i would be able to recieve a new handset of a different model of equall or lesser value. this has not been the case as my phone is broken for the 5th time and still no results.
12 May 2011 11:25:17 PM: Have you asked for a swap or do you expect a new phone to be automatically sent to you? Generally they will replace a phone for a refurbished phone of the same model if it's the 2nd repair. After that if it has already been repaired twice you can call Customer Care and 95% of the time they will allow you to swap your phone for a different model of equal or lesser value (or more value if you pay the excess.

calls keep on dropping out - especially international calls. I can never hear anything and I always have to shout if I used my mobile to call overseas (note landline's perfectly fine tho). This is very frustrating. I am paying over $70 a month and this is what I am getting.
And my friends never recieve the picture messages I send. This is just ridiculous. It's like paying for something you never get.

Took out 24 Month Vodafail $79 cap with Nokia N97 in April 2010. Two mistakes in one. Have made numerous calls to both Voadfail and Nokia and neither would accept any liability for phone issues such as lack of service, call drop outs, message failures, MMS and Internet faults, mobile phone shut down for no apparent reason, maps not working, just to mention a few.
Vodafail transferred me to various locations throughout the world and it was nigh on impossible to understand the person on the other end of the phone, to get them to comprehend the issues I was and still are having. During the height of the service disruptions they advised that it was a Nokia problem.
Nokia on the other hand continued to blame Vodafail with neither taking any responsibility for the lack of service or making any offer to rectify the faulty mobile. In the meantime I have managed to download all up to date software for the N97 and even this morning the phone locked up and had to be rebooted to make it operable.
I work in a customer service industry and find it amazing that Vodafail has the audacity to send everything offshore with no localised area to sort out issues that have given it such a bad name with customers and within the industry itself.
I cannot wait for my contract to end. NO MORE VODAFAIL and NOKIA will no longer be my preferred handset supplier.
If I had the direct phone number for the relative General Managers for Vodafail and Nokia then I would gladly contact them to arrange a face to face meeting with the offending mobile telephone and have them use it in the condition it is and the service they supply.

12 May 2011 11:28:13 PM: Seems strange, usually Vodafone would suggest that you have the phone fixed under warranty or have your sim card swapped to isolate the issue. Even if it was blamed on Nokia, these options would still be given to rectify it.
As for phone switching off and maps not working, that would be a Nokia issue without a doubt. Carrier issues are more along the lines of call drops and coverage faults.

13 May 2011 11:20:40 PM: Nokia N97 is the worst phone ever. I think Nokia knows that.fucking Nokia. I had an N97 Mini and vodafone fixed it under warranty, working great for 3 months then screen started to lock up and would reboot, then vodafone actually replaced the handset under warranty (elecrical failure of some sort they said and couldnt repair)... that one worked for a bit then started having software probs. I have now given it to my son and got myself a blackberry. Ive ALWAYS had nokias and since that NEVER AGAIN....i think their basic phones r good..like the E71 (my wife has NO probs) but anything smarter,...nokia r just not smart enough!!!

I usually live in Medina WA 6167. My reception there is highly variable, and is at times completely non-existent.
I am currently on a 4-week placement up in Port Hedland WA 6721. Up here it is diabolical. I get a few bars reception in 30 second bursts. Phone calls are out of the question. I get by by writing SMSes and then waiting for at least 1 bar to come up before I press send. Sometimes it works, sometimes I have to resend. And how does Vodafail want me to complain? Give them a call on 1555 and wait on hold. Yeah right. That ain't gonna work.
As soon as I get back to Perth this 16 year relationship is coming to an end.
I have been avoiding Telstra for years as a protest to privatisation and later to the work practices of Sol Trujillo. However, Sol's gone now and my flatmates are with Telstra and have no issues at all. It's gonna be the Big T for me.

17911 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Massive Fail. at 12 May 2011 07:35:17 AM
I have used Vodafone's Prepaid Mobile Broadband for quite some time now and have always suffered one small problem or another. More recently though, perhaps the last 3 months, I have had significant trouble connecting to the internet, and when I finally get a proper connection, I get a screen message saying 'Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage'. As you can imagine, this has become increasingly frustrating. What used to take me a few minutes each morning, (ie; checking emails, facebook, banks)now takes me most of the day, and I continually have to log off the internet and hope I can log back on in order to perhaps do anything online. I'm concerned because when I log on to secure websites such as my bank, when I try to log out, my browser displays the above message and I cant be sure whether or not I have been logged out correctly. This whole situation is making me quite angry.
My other gripe with this is that for the amount of money I pay each month for such a crappy service and so little download allowance, I could be with a better company, on a plan, with more benefits for alot less money each month, which would include my home phone and mobile. On top of this, once I connect to the internet, but cant display webpages, it still appears to consume some of my allowed download and I'm not getting a decent service for what I pay for.
I'm quite tired of this dodgy service and if it is not improved by Vodafone, I will be tranferring my service to someone else. Vodafone, it's just not good enough.

12 May 2011 10:16:29 AM: I am having exactly the same issue! On top of this the cord that connects to my pocketwifi has broken AGAIN (3rd time in 6 months). Last time they made me purchase a new one ($25, not the $5 that they told me it would cost!). The reason it keeps breaking? My dodgy service means I have to stretch my cord up to reach shelves and even sit on top of my monitor so that I can get even the tiniest signal, so ridiculous! Now I'm asking them for a new cord and a discount due to crappy service, we'll see what happens, if not I will be looking for a new provider!
13 May 2011 10:52:47 AM: You can actually buy the required cord in lengths of 5, 10 or 20m. Don't let Vodafail make you buy one off them- cgo to your local computer store, show them the cable you have that is too short for your purposes and they'll be able to hook you up with a much longer one for a fraction of the price Vodafail would charge you.
17910 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Hit and miss at 12 May 2011 02:52:32 AM
I'll try not to come across as racist because I am far from it and I'm sure it's been said many times before. The Vodafone call centre is beyond a joke. I have been in contract with the company for 2 years now and have called them for a range of issues as I understand many things cannot be done in a retail store. Almost every time it is as if I am speaking to somebody with zero knowledge of their own product and absolutely no care for their customers. I have been rudely told the words "bad luck" when one of the call centre staff obviously had no interest in helping me when I had been misinformed.
I make sure to speak clearly, slowly and explain my requests or issues in a way that cannot be misunderstood. I am faced with advisors trying to transfer me to other departments (often an incorrect department who then transfer me again and again whilst I have to re-explain everything each time), putting me on hold for upwards of 15 minutes and even disconnecting the call.
I have had staff listen to my entire issue, put me on hold, then come back onto the phone after a long period and ask "so what is it you would like me to do for you" or even come back with a resolution for something entirely different to what I had just explained. It is as if they are reading from a script. Aren't they supposed to be the experts? Even I seem to know more than they do as a consumer!
Then last week I upgraded my phone. I was going to do this in a store but they were out of stock so I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to do this over the phone. I was transferred to an Australian department. They were incredible! They understood everything and it was completed in minutes. They were friendly and didn't sound like robots.
So is the solution to move the call centres back to Australia? Not necessarily, but I think there needs to be a much higher level of training in India and the culture of caring for customers needs to be drilled into their heads. I don't know how they treat consumers in their own country but it certainly isn't the standard here.

17909 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Unbelievable at 12 May 2011 02:12:00 AM
I had signed up to a month-by-month wireless broadband as a temporary solution until ADSL was installed. 2 months later it was no longer needed. I went into the store and was told I needed to call over the phone to disconnect. That was fine, I'm a big girl, I can call myself and I don't care if it's overseas or god-forbid they have an accent, doesn't bother me.
What bothered me was it took 7 phone calls for absolutely nothing. Each time I called they transferred me around from one department to the next, obviously uncomfortable with the idea of me disconnecting. I even lied and told them I was moving overseas the next day. They offered to suspend my service until I returned, so I told them I was moving permanently. I was then transferred to their "upgrades" department who were the "only" people able to disconnect.
Complete bull shit. I work at Telstra so I ended up porting my number out to telstra and disconnecting it there.
Honestly, I don't want credits, I can pay my bill when its owed. Sometimes people just want to disconnect and move on with their lives!!

Vodafone is the second largest mobile telecommunications company in the world second to China Mobile so they must be doing something right. You would think that having "fone" in their title would amount to something. Although it is spelt wrong, "Phone" comes from the Greek word "Voice." The title of this multi-billion dollar company is Vodafone. "Vo" short for "Voice" and "da" short for "Data." So, essentially, this company is called "Voice Data Voice," none of which I can use with this company. "Voicedatafail."

27 May 2011 12:48:48 PM: I believe it is a cc fraud.. Seen a few people report $149 taken out of there accounts recently and they are not even a customer of Vodafone. I would say that an online site has become vulnerable and hackers have come across your cc details. And with being such a low amount saying its from Vodafone. Most people will just take it on the chin.

I HAVE ALSO TAKEN THIS UP WITH THE TIO AND INFORMED THEM.

We do i start, a important sms from my wife, arrived around 3 hours after she had sent it. The reason she sent me a sms was because she could not maitain a signal long enough to ring me.
Another example was when she got home and ask me was i not talking to her because i didn't answer my phone, after a short dissusion she rang me while standing next to me, Guess what neither had signals strength.
Another thing that is pissing me off is that they keep on saying that it was a glitch or whatever, and to make up for it have a free text for a day, guess what i already have free text to the people i need it for.
All i can say is that the staff cant help, and all i hear is that the are fixing the problem, That there are to many people joining the network, Well in a couple of months they will lose my contracts, that should help them

After 3 months they finally admitted they could not help me, let me out of the contract and I gave the phone back. I didnt pay a bill in that time because I couldnt use the service...but it didnt help because I couldnt use the phone anyway. Like giving me a new car to drive around but keeping the keys. No point! IT Professional running a consultancy from my home office in MArmion, 6020.
Phone switches from No Service, to no bars, to a few, to 4 bars, to no service.
Calls drop out, fail, go silent, go staticy o noccaision and generally is not reliable at all. I find being outside has a slight improvement at best.
So my phone, which I run my business from, is not reliable and is unable to be used for long calls for anything that requires me to be on hold. Which between the ATO, my ISP, my service wholesalers, my equipment wholesalers, my clients, my employees, my subcontractors is actually rather often.
I pay $99 a month for an unlimited cap, with an iPhone 3GS 32gb. Not pleased.
Thinking of switching to Telstra. As an IT professional, I loathe dealign wiht Telstra. But their network is unbeatable.
$1billion in new towers and upgrades over the next few months. Checked their site. TWO out of 184 new towers are in WA. TWO. Beaconsfield and Midland, both over 75km from me.

Half of the time I can not send txts nor receive them, It takes forever to retrieve my voice mails and not to mention the personal info of its customers being leaked on the net in January including names, addresses and credit card details. This is an outrage. I currently have 18 months left on my contract and am desperately wanting to be released from it. I will even give my iphone 4 back. My wife upgraded to Iphone from Blackberry, and was told that Vodafone staff would help he transfer contacts across. Excited to finaly get her iphone today, we attempted to use m.google.com/sync to sync info. Yet Vodafone have switched her plan and thus all internet was disabled on the blackberry. Was informed that we can just simply copy all contacts from phone to sim currently in the blackberry and place sim in iphone. As i hung up i realised that voadfone are a bunch of JOKERS, blackberry operates a standard sim and iphone operates on a micro sim. A micro sim was included with the iphone. I will not call the vodafone unhelpful desk again. I have refrained from being overly aggressive and use excessive profanity as i wish for my post to be read.

Okay, So I've been with Vodafail ever since I got my first mobile around 2000, They used to be great. but recently, say in the past 6months to a year, they have gone down hill, i've noticed i've been getting slightly overcharged on my $49 Cap ever month, it went from being $50.01 and today i got my bill for $69.84, I know for a fact that there is no way I could have gone over the bill as I was away for some of the time and when I was in SYD I couldn't get reception to makes calls or use the internet. I decided to log on and check my bill, i've been doing that now for a few hours and it comes up that there is a problem retriving it.. This is so unbelievably frustrating.. I am seriously considering moving to another provider...

When I first came to Australia about a year ago, I was surprised and unpleasantly intrigued learning that you have to enter into contract.
Where I come from, locking contracts are ILLEGAL - forbidden by the law.
May be this is a good time to rise this issue on a state level and ban service contracts for every single service provider regardless of service type.
After all, the CONSTITUTION STATES THAT I AM A FREE PERSON WITH FREEDOM OF CHOICE AND WILL.
If I am happy with what I get I will bare with the service provider, otherwise I should be able to walk away ans seek better deals.

There's no way it would be possible to allow you to take a free phone and then cancel your service immediately. That's stupid. The constitution doesn't say that you can do whatever you like. Have a think about what you're actually saying here.

On Xmas Eve last year, Voda debited over $600.00 from my account for no reason. Took me 3 weeks to get it back over the holiday period. No explanation, no apology, no communication at all. Now, last week, they've taken $1049.00 from my account. No reason, I only owe them $23! Nobody can help me, they deny having received the money and insist I dont owe them that amount!! YES, I know I dont owe you the money so give it back! Nobody in India or Australia cares. I sent them my bank statement and guess what...they deny receiving it so I have to send it again. With 3 kids, a mortgage and about $100.00 left in my account I'm struggling. THEY DONT CARE!! If you are stuck in a contract with this hapless company, DO NOT SIGN A DIRECT DEBIT AUTHORITY! They've taken over $1600.00 from my account with no explanation. And yes, I'm still on hold!!

It's not absurd, this BS they go on with can take years off your life.
I sympathise with the employees though, this mess is not their fault and they are simply trying to earn a buck. They all seem unhappy when I speak to them, they must hate working there. The problem is at the top, the culture needs to be changed...they need to help customers, not hinder our lives.
At least the person I'm speaking to right now has given me their own hotmail address to send an email to, the first person to listen to me.
I wonder if the CEO would do that!!?

At least the person I'm speaking to right now has given me their own hotmail address to send an email to, the first person to listen to me.
I wonder if the CEO would do that!!?
10 May 2011 08:21:21 PM: Yea it pretty terrible and I'm sure the employees aren't enjoying any of this either. The TIO should be able to help recover any money but if you're looking for emotional damages you would have to speak to a lawyer. The lawfirm conducting the class action against vodafone is here: http://piperalderman.com.au/vf/
Hope it doesn't get to that though and the money is recovered ASAP!

I was a happy 3 pre-paid customer, and even though some areas had poor reception, at least it worked well most places I needed it (work and home without roaming on). Since the vodafone merger, it has become incredibly unreliable and does not work at home or at work - with or without roaming. Shocking how it could go downhill so quickly. Switched to an alternate pre-paid vendor. (Never trusted post-paid since I was with One-Tel)

Wireless internet constantly drops out "Diagnose Internet Connection". Mobile constantly says "Emergency Calls Only" "No Network" - why am I paying Vodafone for "No Network"???? Unbelieveable. Vodaphone store keeps saying - no problems at all in the area - the staff are being told to lie - shocking - NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I SIGN WITH VODAFONE.

I posted the same post for the wrong area. Previously I put "ACT".
My correct area is "NSW". Hence I am posting it again.
I lost reception at Townhall station. I waited for 30 minutes and could not get any reception until I rebooted my phone. When there was no network reception bar it shows "NO Service". It often happens and it is a real pain. Specially when you are desperate to make calls and you get "No Service".
This was really frustrating.

I have been reading everyones pain on this website, I feel really guilty as the only things I have experienced since joining vodafone is cheap calls and a phone that works. When I first bought my phone I had some dramas with it so o went back to the store and they organized a new phone sINCe then it's been fine. When I was with Telstra the coverage was crap at home and they are soooooo expensive. Go vodafone I say ....

17868 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception Non-Existent at 10 May 2011 12:17:42 AM
Claims about coverage are total B-shit. In many large regional centres there is simply no V-Fail reception at all. Roxby Downs for example, when I was there in October last year, and too many other towns on east coast to remember. Thinking about buying a flock of carrier pidgeons...at least I could rely on them to get the message trough quicker than V-fail.

Using V-fail for wireless broadband (using Huawei Pocket WiFi). Always shows strong signal (lower North Shore) but drops out regularly and SLOWWWWWWWW. Has occassionally shown fast download but so infrequently it might as well claim dial-up modem speeds, and even that would be an improvement.
13 May 2011 11:01:45 AM: The modem could be faulty, Ask for replacement. I had mine replaced. Now it is working fine.
17866 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Utterly & Completely Screwed at 9 May 2011 10:39:45 PM
Residing in the Gungahlin area... Completely No 3G coverage when I'm @ home (having to rely on my home wireless network) or anywhere in Canberra for that matter... Been on to Vodafone quite a few times, informed that they are still re-working on their towers for the area (this was well b4 xmas '10) & still no no resolve... Everytime I call them they can mysteriously credit my account $50... Still doesn;t help with coverage though, the phone they sold me, they now inform me is one they don't recommend (SonyE X10 - Didn't tell me that when I was comparing all the phones available - was the best phone on the market) Now Im stuck in a 24 month contract & I want out....
10 May 2011 06:25:06 AM: I'm in Gungahlin and have the exact same problem...$50 credit and all. It's better for the call centre to just pay you out each time you call than have another customer cancelling on their record.
I also have an internet stick, they offered to credit the full cost each month providing I let the contract run it's course.
I am an ex employee, and unfortunatly..there is no hassle free way out. I'd head straight to the TIO if I were you.

We have 4 phone p;us an internet USB stick that we can not use. The internet is not available and we are paying for this monthly but have not used it since August last year. Also over charges for incorrect calls and even charged for 1-2sec intervels even when the calls never connect or call out.

Even in the city you can't get reception with Vodafone! What the hell is with that! You'd expect that's the best place to get coverage. Tempted to change to Telstra but their service is so shit, it takes 45 minutes just to get a hold of a customer service operator! Vodafone have good plans but I hope they can sort out the coverage thing!

I have been with Vodafone for at least 6 years! Up until mid June last year coverage/calls/sms were all fine... Particularly over the last 6 months I have had consistent problems with delayed sms, calls dropping out, broadband coverage both on phone and computer were horrendous. Whilst not on contract I persisted because it was easier however the frustration at paying for a service Im not getting really pisses me off. I swapped to OPTUS today! I can make calls, load pages almost instantly and send and receive sms without any problems.. Enough is enough Good bye vodaFAIL

takes 5 minutes, you'll get a call within 10 business days. tell them your problems and that it doesn't meet what they stated in the contract you signed (that it would actually work) and tell them you want out with a refund of the fees you've paid for the past 3 months and no cancellation fees.
tell them the service hasn't been working i.e. they are selling a service that doesn't actually work

Delayed SMS's sometimes by days. Have good reception then it drops out requiring a phone restart with good reception again. About 30% of calls seem to drop out. Vodaphone pretending it seems to be an unusual occurance. Good phone coverage and no intenet. Thats all!
17855 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 10! at 9 May 2011 11:59:28 AM
I have had repeated problems with receiving and sending text messages. At one stage I was on the phone to Vodafone every day with a new issue. One day I wouldn't be able to receive text messages, they would "fix" the problem, then I wasn't able to send text messages!
After many phonecalls and my precious time, they are now telling me there is no problem on their end, that it must be the recipient / sender's network, not Vodafone. There are particular friends that am I not able to receive messages from, other days it is just everyone.
I have done the usual "fix" of turning my phone on and off, once it worked and I received about 15 text messages I had been waiting for. Since then, it hasn't worked to turn the phone on and off. I have inserted my Vodafone sim card into my work Telstra mobile, and about 10 messages came through on the other phone that I had been waiting for. I tested it a few times and had friends text me whom I could never receive texts from and it was fine. Over the weekend, the problem has come back again.
I am extremely frustrated at the very least and am seriously considering moving to another provider.

17854 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 9 May 2011 11:55:01 AM
I live in Port Douglas FNQ and vodafone reception here has always been extremely lame ever since i moved here a decade ago. I was assured by the vodafone rep that after they had upgraded the network to 3G i would have reception pretty much everywhere. This is so far from the truth that it may as well be on Mars. If anything the reception is worse. Half the time i try to make calls i get a 'connection failed ' message , texts take several hours to get to me and there are at least 5 major reception 'black holes' within the space of a few km's from the town centre. When i called vodafone to report it they proceeded to 'check' the reception in my area and then informed me that it was fine and there was nothing they could do. Bollocks. I have had enuf.
10 May 2011 11:58:37 AM: Lodge a complaint with Vodafone customer service (hopefully it doesn't take long to get through to them) and let them know. If you're service isn't working half the time then why should you pay the full amount? Goodluck and no need to be silent to vodafone about the problems you're having.

Why is sending a simple txt now take so long.
On top of this I regularly loose all service on my mb and have to do a full restart before i can use it again...
