Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

14348 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is bad at service at 23 Jan 2011 06:36:49 PM
Over two hours on hold on several occasions. And the same song lyrics kept on being played, "I don't want to be lonely no more" sung by Rob Thomas. I wonder if they get the irony.
14347 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is a little bit at 23 Jan 2011 06:33:41 PM
I love vodafones pricing, that is not at all an issue and anyonee who would argue otherwise should be shot, but vodafones coverage, now that is a disgrace. I live 5 km away from a highly populated area, and I average 1 or 2 bars of reception out of 5. and cannot obtain 3G, but only this E Internet crap. if vodafone improve their coverage they'll be the best phone provider in Australia.
14346 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very at 23 Jan 2011 06:33:25 PM
attended a "marriage ceremony" invitation for 3 and Vodaphone today. The reception afterwards was shit. There was only one bar.
14345 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is incredible rip off data charges at 23 Jan 2011 06:31:41 PM
So I have a $49.00 cap, 1 day before the end of my billing cycle I checked my account and had $7.00 remaining credit. The next day I did my usual checking emails and light internet browsing, couple of calls(no videos or downloads) and then I get whacked with a $265.00 bill for excess data!!!
I'm in shock, how can they do this. charge per kb!! Don't know what to do now as that's a big bill for us to pay. definately not renewing my contract with vodafone. It's pure corporate robbery in my book.

this is absolute BS! I have been with vodafone for 6 years and as of the past 2 have had nothing but trouble!,
to send 1 txt msg it takes 5 minutes of searching as it drops out soon as i hit send?
majority of my friends on prepaid have cancelled their sims and have gone to either telstra or optus...
thats just the reception, dont let me get started on the customer service! rude little pappadums !

14339 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Stop selling at 23 Jan 2011 05:52:31 PM
Man can you believe it. I walked straight into the vodapit. bought a $99 offer they had in safeway and happily came home thinking i got a cool deal. Now i am getting GPRS but no 3G. called customer care and he taught me how to connect with GPRS only option. what a brain. Why cant all vodafail fans go to court and stop them from selling to new customers till they fix this network problem.

14336 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is MEGA EPIC FAIL at 23 Jan 2011 05:15:32 PM
I am currently with vodaphone and up until Vodaphone merged with 3 I never had an issue with them, service was good and I had no problems. In recent months I have had numerous service dropouts and recently I have had my family and friends telling me that calls they make to me are going direct to "this service has been disconnected" not even to voicemail. At the same time my Fiance had issues using her iPad on a Vodaphone prepaid simm in the Adelaide CBD, that's ridiculous, towers everywhere and no signal and I have issues in Kidman park not even 15 mins from the CBD and issues in Woodcroft where I live. A month ago my fiance put in a techincal issue report to Vodaphone and a month later.... NOTHING BACK TO US, so now at this very moment I have been trying to get onto vodaphone to organize a way to keep my number but cancel my contract with no exit fees or crap like that for the hassle the put me thought and what do I get, a guy who has no clue and decided to put me thought to the cancellation which comes up with a message saying, sorry this department is closed and hangs up on me. called back and once more waiting and waiting to make a complain about that and to try once more to organize a way to keep my number on a new network but no fees and I gave up after a half and hour because I have a life outside my phone, but I will keep trying. GOD DAMN ASSHOLES
23 Jan 2011 05:35:05 PM: Lodge a complaint with the tio online, takes three minutes, someone from vodacrap will call you, helps if you make some notes of dates and times of their cock ups, demand nothing less than release from contract, even ask for a part refund for what you have paid, surely they will release you from contract, it worked for me, dont know what optus is like these days, but I went to telstra and it is 21st century sort of stuff, I now actually get what I pay for, I am stoked! Good luck
24 Jan 2011 03:02:35 PM: I do want out of my contract but the thing is, I still want my number, need to deal with Vodafail, to get them to hold off the cancelation until I move to Telstra (Only One I can trust now, I moved from Soul to Vodafail), I have been semi lucky at times, but I am constantly having to turn off and on my phone to get reception, drop outs alot but still have semi good use of SMS.
14335 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Expensive, money vacuum fail at 23 Jan 2011 05:11:35 PM
Despite having over $12 of credit on my sim, when I went to send a text Vodafone tells me, "Sorry, you do not have enough credit". I check my balance, it now says I only have 5 cents. -- This happens sometimes, Vodafone takes my money for no reason, then a week or two later sends a "Whoops, so sorry, we 'accidently' overcharged you by 1000x!" notice.
But it goes on, the next day I check my balance it reads: $0.00 -- not content to just take my $11.95+, nope, Vodafone must take the last remaining 5c too!
When I call them (took forever to get through!), instead of refunding me immediately the guy simply says, "You must have purchased something, made a few calls or texts and then perhaps forgot about them."
Uh, okay, I'll humour you, say that is true for the minute... tell me what service Vodafone offers that costs only 5c? Can't have called anyone, that's $1 per minute charged as soon as you connect; Can't have texted anyone, that's 20c; and my phone is really budget and old so it doesn't connect to the net. Seriously, Vodafone, what do you have that I can even spend 5c on? Nothing? Right -- so where did my money go?!

24 Jan 2011 11:34:45 PM: "It must be a fault on your sim" seems to be their standard answer that Vodafone is teaching their customer service people~!
Hi I'm Lara. Before you tell me your problem, I can tell you right now that it's your sim's fault. Please do not me again as I've had enough already and you just go and sign up with Telstra!

28 Jan 2011 08:55:20 AM: I strongly suggest you complain to TIO via form on this website. I believe their 'mistakes' may be quite deliberate, given what I know about them. TIO fixed the problem fairly quickly, and got out of contract, no penalties and kept their useless modem.

14332 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is daily/hourly at 23 Jan 2011 04:59:05 PM
I first obtained A mobile broadband(pre payed)in August. From the beginning I was dropping out only occaisionally.Fair enough!I recently holidayed in Melbourne for 3 weeks(Doncaster & Torquay)No problems in Torquay,100ks from Melbourne, but absolutely no reception in Doncaster. Now that I'm home in WA,the problem seems to continue. On a Daily basis my Vodofone disconects, sometimes when i check it tells me i have been connected for a number of hours, but fails to mention that 1/2 of this time is spent reconnecting.I dont have a Vodaphone phone(thank god),but just 1 call to them cost me $63 & another $28 because of the time it takes to get through& the number of times they put you on hold.I'm an online Poker player & on 3 seperate occasions it has cost me Prize money as well as buy in money. My recharge cost me $150 for 12mnths.what a waste of time & money.LOL.its happening as i write!!!!!!

I bought an iphone with the express purpose of using it in a business context for email (and old fashioned phone calls), in my shop in metro melbourne and my reception is less than one bar 4 days out of five. I have called 3mobile three times and explained to somebody on the Asian subcontinent about the details of melbourne geography and got a total of "sorry. here's $10 off your bill". once. AND they charge me for roaming in METRO melbourne.
Thanks. That feels vaguely better.

23 Jan 2011 04:25:19 PM: Did the TIO give you a result????
23 Jan 2011 04:36:20 PM: i waited the 10 days and then had to escalate the complaint as vodafone didnt get back to me...I rang the TIO on thursday so im still waiting for a result, but in saying that i WILL get a result im dying to get out of vodafone.... since they sucked me into the 2nd contract in the first place, told me my phone has 14 hours talk time 120 hours stand by...... Low and behold after 5 hours my phone dies with me even using it.... Go figure vodafail
23 Jan 2011 04:39:24 PM: OK...........I personally think Vodafone have used sharp practice based on your posts.

14326 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Moderate to High at 23 Jan 2011 04:16:19 PM
My reception, as we all expect is poor. However, I recently signed up and recieved a Samsung Galaxy S from the voda store in Greensborough VIC.
My phone was faulty, had a massive buzz noise coming from the ear speaker when making calls, to which the "manager" explained that all phones are different and it's normal. She spoke to me in very broken english and was very direct, leading me to believe that communication was going to be very challenging. Her and her junior employee decided that there was no problem, although 5 minutes prior to the descision the junior college admitted he could here "something" .. as soon as his manager said it was fine, he backed down and remained quiet.
I left the store only to return later with a Galaxy s to compare it to and it's owner for proof, she (the manager) could still not hear anything and the phone was "perfect" this time, the junior staff mbr listened and said it was fine. I had noted that her stong chinese accent had dissipated quite alot this time around, and her communication skills were much more adequete and easier to understand.
I had to request that other staff members test the phone, to which she asked 2 others to test, they did so and blantently said they could hear it was buzzing and not as it should be.
The phone was replaced, but I have found out it was a refurbished model.
Not happy, it should not take 2 attempts at the store, 1.5 hours of standing my ground with vodafone staff that are not qualified to tell me that I am wrong and the phone is perfect. Lesson is do not let them play you, be determined and fight... unfortunately you have to with these guys. It's like getting blood from a stone.

24 Jan 2011 08:48:05 AM: Hey mate, you should of got a NEW phone, as there is a 14day Early life failure program, I wouldn't cop a refurbish phone, Vodafone are now making money from your misfortune with a warranty claim back to the manufacturer. A buzz in the earphone is a faulty screen, usually when the backlight is on. Thats a phone fault.
14325 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ..... at 23 Jan 2011 03:50:20 PM
I was in the Vodafone store today trying to get my phone replaced or exchanged. They told me because this phone had already been exchanged once, they couldn't do anything and I'd have to call up 1555.
I said if they can't fix it I'd want to cancel my contract (WITHOUT cancellation fees as they are not providing me with the quality phone I paid for.)
They once again told me to call 1555.
I called 1555, I spent 1 hour and a half on the phone, got switched to 4 different departments, and FINALLY a guy told me I had to go into the store, and talk to them from there, if nothing could be done I'd have to call 1555 from the store and let the customer reps speak with the people in the department....
I've had one of my phones sent off to repair 3 times, they couldn't fix it, they gave me a new/different one. That one was faulty out of the box, they exchanged it, and now they are refusing to do more because this one is faulty too. It's not MY fault they gave my shitty quality phones.
Now I'm going back to Vodafone AGAIN tomorrow (in the past two months I've probably been there over 20 times).
The customer service reps have absolutely no knowledge about the phones, and they have the WORST attitudes I have EVER seen. I find it ironic, people complain about the overseas call centres...but I'd say the people I talked to at the call centre were alot nicer than the employees at the vodafone store.
Is there any way to cancel my contract without incurring a penalty due to lack of action/ service by vodafone?

14324 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Awful at 23 Jan 2011 03:13:25 PM
Have posted previously on reception and drop out problems. New problem is that I tried online at the Vodafone sign to have the fone unlocked (the fone is Nokia bought from Vodafone a couple of years ago) As requested I typed in the fone serial number and the site told me there was no record of it. Went into a Vodafone store and they said they could not unlock it either as their system does not have a code for that phone to initate an unlock procedure. All this despite the fact that I bought the phone from them and they offer an unlocking system for their fones. The person behind the counter was reduced to searching with google online to see if he could figure it out that way! He said he has put in a request to sort out the problem and that I might here back in 10 days with an unlocking code. By then I will be overseas. It will be interesting to see if I get the code via sms overseas with Vodafone's global roaming. Last time I travelled with their global roaming it did not work after Singapore!
14323 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is big time failure at 23 Jan 2011 03:06:59 PM
No mess any longer. i got out of two contracts because of their poor service. I was told the area i was in was not a good area, only problem being, i had been with them for 8 years!!. As i told them the last twelve months were the worst. Cut a long story short the contract states they provide the service you provide payment. i got them for breaching the contract and therefore sent phones back and was let out of my contracts, i am now with telstra and low and behold i can run my business. I can't play online games like starcraftII using vodafone mobile broadband this has been a problem since I bought the USB modem. Has anyone got any solutions?
23 Jan 2011 03:11:09 PM: Whilst this is not the answer to your question, any online game generally struggles to work when playing via 3G. You really need to look at getting ADSL for online gaming (or at the very least I would look at a more stable 3G option).
23 Jan 2011 03:13:12 PM: Solution: Go to another provider!
Have you recorded the speed of your internet and raised the matter with 1555 ????
If you have without result, then go to the TIO the address is on the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

24 Jan 2011 09:41:14 PM: The thing is the connection while still being lousy is stable enough to surf the net when i need to. Is there a reason that it just drops out as soon as I try to play online and starts coming up with weird error messages that don't appear with a usual dropout?
14321 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Reliably fail at 23 Jan 2011 02:51:09 PM
I just love making phone calls with vodafail: 1st attempt, , nothing happens, the phone just says it is making call. Second attempt, you get a call fail signal. Third attempt, it goes straight to voicemail. Fourth tuyou finally get theology..of course all the while there is at least four bars of coverage showing.
23 Jan 2011 02:57:49 PM: Are you being charged for each call????
23 Jan 2011 03:00:09 PM: What sort of stupid reply is "Are you being charged for each call????" ? What is the point of having a mobile phone if you cant use the network :/ Vodafone has the worst network in the world.

Also the OP may or may not have been aware there is a charge for each call and I wanted to clarify the position.
Hope that suffices for my stupid reply.

14320 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor to nil reception in Sydney CITY! at 23 Jan 2011 02:39:49 PM
It is rare for me to ever have full reception, even when in the CDB of Sydney. I've been a Vodafone customer since 2001. From 2001 - 2004 I lived in rural NSW and had substantially better reception then and there than I do now. It has gotten to the point where I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use my phone when I most need it. I recently even had to resort to using a pay phone at Sydney Airport on a Friday at 5pm as I had no reception.
Pick up your game Vodafone or I will also be joining the vast amount of people leaving your services behind.

14317 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Coverage in Rockhampton at 23 Jan 2011 02:33:01 PM
Oh yes Vodafone, so you are sorting things out directly with your customers, try going back over your emails to see how many customers have asked for anybody from vodafone to do just that, and recived no response or got fobbed off.
I have phoned and emaild for months try may, june, july, august, september, october november, then give up, some emails just beg for someone to ring me back, you know my number ( but it doesn't work, so email me I will give you a land line to ring.
I have had to work in Central Queensland for the past few months, and I have no idea how Vodafone is allowed to market phones or Broadband in the Rockhampton area.
I cannot count on my phone working when I need it and my broadband would be best described as not working at all.
But get on the Vodafone website and it Shows the whole area of rockhampton as being a good coverage area. Ask the locals and they tell you that they have a lot of contractors from Brisbane and Sydney come up to work and all complain that they can't get coverage. Why are they able to sell the product as claiming it works.
I am talking about no coverage at the major shopping centre on the north side of rocky, no coverage at Frenchville, no coverage at Central Queensland University or Capricornia College, except for a few minutes here or ther in certain spots you might walk into and message bank fires up to deliver the messages for the day or two, but don't think you can ring the message bank or person back, only if you are very lucky will you get more than a minute or two.
On top of that they double billed me for my old broadband and my new one from march last year to about October, eventually responded to one of my many emails and phone calls, to say they may have stuffed up and would refund me some money, have had no response since (months), they seem to be making adjustments in my account. But despite many requests by email and attempts by phone have not been able to discuss with a real person who sounds half interested.
Have also lodged complaint with ombudsman, spoke to ACCC and Fairtrade, all seem to be unable to do anything much

Then they made web billing compulsory and screwed me over usage, news their cloud server hacked, their incredibly bad security practices and a DNS server that hasn't worked for MONTHS not minutes. Lara with her pseudofriendly voice and totally fu...d 'Customer Service' . TIO fixed it pretty quickly.

14310 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Slow and overloaded at 23 Jan 2011 02:15:03 PM
I live in Beckenham, WA 6107.
I had an internet USB thingy from Vodaphone for internet at home, for 2.5 years.
It was often unuseable during kids hours (3pm to 9pm) - just would not connect, or dropped out straight away.
You had to do your internetting after midnight for it to work OK (not well, just OK).
Over Christmas 2010 it just wouldn't work at all. I've now cancelled my plan, and have gone to a different provider. Still have to see if they will cancel my direct debit payments properly!
What really pissed me off is that I was with them for 2.5 years, and their service didn't improve at all over that period - they didn't put up any new towers. Also, they had no trouble setting up a new plan in the shop, but were unable to cancel the same plan in the same shop! Said I had to ring up - and we all know what that means - two hours trying to translate for "Mrs Patel" in "Bangalore" (new surburb in Melbourne - didn't you know!).
Do not sign up with Vodaphone - it doesn't work and you won't be happy.

I bought an Australian Vodafone SIM in Armidale in early 2009. I was advised in April 2009 by the local Vodafone store that G service as strong as Telstra would be available for Armidale by August. Not too long before that date, the store closed without fanfare, and users were referred to Lismore for service. I had been in the store just a week before, and one would not have known that this was going to occur.
Given that Armidale is a university town, neglect of service, is astonishing. National broadband therefore patently has a place in this town.
Dropouts of service were frequent. One would not know if and when service would be available. Texts could be received hours later. Voice calls were frequently diverted to voicemail, to the great annoyance of my callers. I thought this problem might have derived from my handset until the Vodafail article made me aware that I was not alone in this experience.
Vodafone mobile broadband also was delivered at less than dial up speed most of the time, and even at early hours of the morning (6-6.30 a.m.) or later in the evening (10 p.m. onwards) were also subject to dropouts, or lack of availability.
Certainly Vodafone staff have promised more than they can deliver, and steps should be taken by its management to markedly improve service or change descriptions of their quality of service.

I am not an angry customer here but I was at a Vodafone shop yesterday to test to see what I was reading was correct. I tried a phone in the shop and went onto the internet on it. It had full bars and on the 3G network. I noticed that the internet was extremly slow and kept coming up with an error messege. I would never buy from vodafone anyway. They really are vodafail if there shop was also showing signs of crappy service.

I just want to share my experience of Vodafone in Auckland, NZ.
For two years (2007-2008) I found as a Half Moon Bay resident, paying on an annual plan, reception had continual dropouts on account of transmitter clashes according to two of their technicians. Receipt could be coming from Glendowie, St Johns, Highland Park and other points of the compass.
Now back in the area in 2010, on a prepay I find that:
1) I get through to Vodafone to be able to select the options for adding funds without problem, but although the 12 digit prepay numbers are dialled correctly, they do not necessarily get heard correctly. Today (23.1.11) on entering the correct number for a new prepay voucher, although this number was only entered once, Vodafone automatic voice advised me that I had exceeded my attempts (only one) to enter the voucher number.
2) Yesterday, although a V8 card enabled me to dial an Australian Vodafone mobile number correctly twice, on the third attempt, I was informed by the automatic message system, that calls to that network number were not permitted!
3) Worse, on 29 November, I was speaking to a landline source a few minutes before midday. Yet a critical text message, lack of receipt of which has potentially affected my longevity, sent at 12.01 by the same source, did not arrive until two hours later! Thanks, Vodafone!

I recently got onto the "infinite 45 Business Plan" and lasted just five weeks. I was careful to only sign up on a month-to-month basis so I would not have any difficulties extricating myself. I was frequently getting the "Searching" signal or the "No Service" message in areas that are loaded with Vodafone towers. At this point I should make it clear that I was using an iPhone 4. (I would like to know what percentage of the complaints relate to this type of phone). This situation is just not acceptable as this is my primary means of communication and my business phone. I was told by the sales rep (after I had quit VF) that these "problems" only occurred in Sydney. He said that he hadn't experienced ANY problems with the exception of that Saturday when the whole of WA was without vodafone. He was using a Samsung handset so is it just a problem with the iPhone?
23 Jan 2011 12:44:02 PM: ... Oh, forgot to mention all of the dropped calls as well!
23 Jan 2011 02:39:12 PM: iPhone (and all smart phones) work perfectly on every other network. Also there has been many posts here that state that blackberry's, nokia's and HTC do also not work on Vodafone. So the only consistent is Vodafone's Crap Network.
23 Jan 2011 02:43:14 PM: There are 65% more iPhones on any network compared to any other phone. Vodafone constantly blame the iPhone, but yet people are having issues with all phones on the Vodafone network. Your friend was probably using an Omnia (not really a smartphone, hence not really bandwidth happy) so it is not really a smartphone :/
As above, all phones work perfectly elsewhere, just not on vodafone.

I am on the $79 cap plan, and every month I pay by Bpay, I always pay my bill as soon as I receive the email. I have paid a bill due 29th december 2010 and just recently got an overdue bill $157 pay immediately, so I paid it and haven't challenged it. It's happened about 3 occasions where my bill was overdue. Has this happened to anyone else? I have always paid it and now when I pay my bill I email it to myself with the receipt number so in future I have proof. My plan is ending in may 9th so I think I'll be shopping around for a cheaper plan and a better carrier.

14302 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is VERY VERY FAIL at 23 Jan 2011 12:37:37 PM
I have two phones on plans with vodafone. After 6 months one of them started playing up, after a LONG and DIFFICULT process (including sending the phone of for repair 3 times, which all proved to be completely unsuccessful at fixing it),
Vodafone agreed to exchange it for a different phone.
They gave me three phones as options for exchange. (I would soon come to realise that any of the three phones they allowed me to exchange it for all had MAJOR faults. If anything they were agreeing to exchange it for one of them simply to get rid of the phones).
I ended up choosing one, after WEEKS my new exchange phone arrived in the mail! I turned it on, and within an hour I realised it's Wifi was faulty and playing up. Took it back and they gave me the same phone except a different handset. Same phone, same problem. Looked up solutions on the web and it appears the design of the phone is the reason for its poor wifi...so it's the manufacturers fault? no. It's vodafones fault for providing that faulty phone to begin with!
I took it back today, and they said they can't exchange it or send it for repair because it was already an exchanged phone.
They basically implied that I'm somehow trying to scam them. Yeah, right. I LOVE going to vodafone every day and wasting my time arguing with employees who don't know half as much about cell phones as I do.
Way to go vodafone! I'm sure the evil, nasty, and greedy consumers are trying to screw over the friendly, understanding, and innocent corporation!

If I could get out of my contract I would. Too unreliable by far, Vodaphone are not holding up their end of the bargain! cheers, Helen

Sometimes i didnt get text message's that were sent to me and vice versa. The message bank messages get thru a couple of days late. Service keeps going out. They promised a 3g service where i was which is the main reason i went with them a month later i asked where was it and they said it wasnt happening now. Stuck with slow Edge.
23 Jan 2011 12:47:18 PM: It's interesting that Telstra has announced increases in call charges by charging in one-minute blocks from March just when they are expecting a mass exodus from Vodafone
23 Jan 2011 02:46:49 PM: Vodafone and Optus already charge in one minute blocks, so it is just bringing them into line with the other two telco's.

I have been trying to cancel my out of contract phone for a week now. Everytime I contact Vodafone, they tell me it has been done but the phone is still active and now they have billed me another month in advance. Problems also with my daughter trying to set up voice mail. Called customer service and they couldnt help, said (from Mumbai) to call back in four hours to try again. Who has time to be talking to Vodafone and being passed around different departments?

23 Jan 2011 05:16:40 PM: I just thought I would point out that when Vodafone cancel your contract they leave the number active so you are able to port to another carrier! They simply remove the contract dates, before the moderator of this website jumps all over this ignoring his own advice contained in the how to complain section and tells you to go to the TIO I think you should check to see if the contract dates have been removed.

It was lucky that it wasn't a life threatening situatition but had been so I would never have know about his injury & addmission to hospital, in the scheme of things I believe it to be serious but obivously Vodaphone don't live could be lost or else seriously injuryed what are they going to do about this service or lack off.

Originally lived in brisbane, joined vodafone 5years ago. No reception issues however furthest I ever went was sunshine/gold coasts.
Moved to Wagga Wagga for work for 24months where reception was rather pathetic unless I was in the town centre. Since moving back to my wife, in the ACT (12months ago) had similar problems of dropouts, no connections, delayed sms and overall rudeness from the call centre when I queried them about a bill issue.
For these issues to be in the aust capital city..... rather amusing i thought.
However chose to continue using but drop my cap from $99 to a lower one. Spoke to a hard to understand however extremely polite call centre girl. She informed me it was policy that you had to exit the contract, costing around $800 and they would be happy to start me on a new 24month contract. After 'enquiring' with her supervisor, this fee would not be waved for any reason. This was explained to me when i signed the contract....apparently.... i wouldnt have signed if they told me this policy.
All this after my wifes carrier (optus) charged her an admin fee of $33.95 and gladly changed it down with NO extension to time in contract. They did this INSTORE aswell.
Subsequentally I laughed it off, cancelled my contract and am now an optus customer.... Only fault there was choosing the samsung 'tradie phone'.... more fragile than a house of cards but anyway.

23 Jan 2011 09:51:30 AM: PART 2. Didnt cancel my contract on the spot, chose to think about it first.
to cancel my contract I went into vodafone Belconnen, young sales rep sat me down and asked why, told him and he was more than happy to cancel it for me.
Something was wrong with his system and he couldnt do it online, had to ring customer care..... yippee.... Got a rude man that either couldnt comprehend english or wasnt interested in anything other than SALE SALE SALE!!!. REFUSED to acknowledge my cancellation request, issues, resolutions. Further continual offers of different caps for me to sign onto. after 15mins of keeping my cool, I became quite angry and due to what i said, I cited what my griefs were very abruptly and in hindsight quite rudely. I probably cost vodafone the 6 or so customers looking at signing up. LUCKY FOR THEM.
The sales rep took the phone off me after realising we were just going around in circles and he instructed him to cancel my cap immediatelly, after 5-10mins of arguing with him my cap was finally cancelled, alot of apologies came from him, it wasnt his fault though. I do rate the service of the sales rep and the original call centre ladie, however their hands were tied to solve my issue so their employer hindered their customer service ability.... I learnt from my mistakes, no amount of 'research and investment' vodafone make will get me to return.
p.s sorry for the novel.

14286 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Call fails, drop outs all over Xmas 2010 at 23 Jan 2011 09:34:39 AM
Vodafone network was good this year but over December Xmas 2010 it was and still is atrocious.
I have experienced (and when I say "I" I mean my corporate group plan which consists of 4users who have experienced the exact same issues), call failures, call drop outs, and slow voicemail or no voicemail.
I use my mobile for business 90% of the time so it is vital for me, I a, a builder and I need it to order materials contact trades and organize jobs. Without this my business suffers and I have to constantly ring people back as the calls have been failing.
In summation I am thinking of changing carrier, and joining the class action against vodafone.
If everyone with the same problems joins then we can make a change..

Well here I am in Sydney CBD (Pitt St World Square) and for the past four days have really only been able to connect in off-peak times. Since when was Sydney CBD going bush ... only when you're with Vodafail apparently.

I have an iPhone 3G with Vodafone. They can't work out why I can't send emails from my mobile when I'm not at home using WiFi.
Calls drop our regularly.
Often calls go straight to wife's message bank for no apparent reason (also 3G iPhone with Vodafone), and vice versa, but does not show there is a message in message bank.
Text messages slow to arrive, especially MMS.
General coverage is terrible.
All of the above is very frustrating as we have a toddler and another baby on the way. If anything was to happen, it might be too late before I'm aware of anything.

Ok fine fine, 40 minutes later Lara calls back,"I will put you through to someone now", music begins playing I am waiting 3 minutes later the call dropped out on me. So now I call back and ask Lara to call me back again.. If it happens one more time I think I am going to stick pins in my eyes.. This is crap, I can't even connect to an employee without the call disconnecting.. *bangs head against the wall* thanks a lot vodafone!

THEN, I got a bill saying I owe them $172.80 for this month because of excess data usage. WTF. I figured it's just because they hadn't added the extra 500mb yet... then i look at the bill for when i supposedly used so much data and what do you know, THEY HAVE ME USING $25 OF DATA ON A DAY WHEN I WAS ON WIRELESS ALL DAY!!! and more data used on days where i was working all day and had my phone off... I don't have apps that use the internet that much so how about Vodafone stop MANUFACTURING my bills. These lies are bullshit, and i'm not paying that bill, not with all the dropped calls and late texts etc.

Check this out and before you write me off as crazy I mean really check it out... maybe this explains where Vodaphone and 3 are coming from and why they realy dont care about this mess they are in. Vodaphone is the worlds largest carrier and as far as they are concerned they are laughing all the way to the bank. Any press is good press. I read in the Herald Sun recently about vodafail and the class action and 2 pages later Vodaphone has a full page advertising article promoting their new plans. Surely they must be in breach of some law (trades practises act perhaps???) that says if you cant service the customers you have now then you shouldnt be allowed bring any new customers on. Its kinda like selling a car with a faulty part and instead of recalling it and fixing the problem you just keep on sellin more cars... crazy!
As I said before Vodaphone is the worlds largest mobile carrier. Three mobile was (maybe still is the 2nd largest)
After researching some more obscure aspects of these 2 companies it seems they may have been in bed together since the start (of 3 anyway).
The following website shows the motivations and inspirations behind some of the worlds largest corporations logos. Copy this link into your web browser and see for yourself and decide
http://pakalert.wordpress.com/2009/06/20/top-5-most-sinister-corporate-logos/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_jOGAwpmCs - Vodaphone logo mystery
and if that wasnt strange enough it seems like the 3 merger must have been done when they began...
check out the 3 logo here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb87bpnoQww&feature=related
(FYI there is a 3 network and Vodphone network in Italy)
You decide what is going on. When I was a kid back in the early 80's the priest used to say at church that in the future we would all bear the mark of the beast 666. Seems like he was right seeing as I now carry it around everywhere I go with every step I take being recorded and tracked.

I'm so sick of having to call people back because my phone doesn't ring, or drops out. I work right next to Central Station in Sydney, in the middle of the City, and it seems my office is a black spot.
Even though I'm on a $69 Cap, I always go over it because I pretty much have to return every phone call I receive.
I hate Vodafone, I've never been with them before, had always been on postpaid with my own phone and within 3 months of signing onto Vodafone in Nov 2009 I became quickly disgruntled. I complained to all my friends who were using them and they said it had gotten worse over the years.
I will cancel my contract as soon as possible.

Me & my wife's mobile coverage, particularly in our home is terrible.
I can rarely have a conversation on the mobile as I cannot hear anything & eventually the line drops out.
Then I have the expense of calling the person back on my land line.
Incoming calls rarely come through & generally go straight to voicemail where thereafter I have the expense of calling my voicemail & then the expense of calling the person back on a land line.
I can receive SMS messages hours after the person has sent them, Similarly when I send SMS messages.
This level of service (or lack of) has been going on for months & I cannot continue like this.
We are now seriously looking at other providers

I had a 2 year contract with them starting 2008 and had an iPhone. Since day one I had no msgs or calls being received on time. I would receive voicemail the next day and msgs 2 dys later. I raised the issue and for six to 8 weeks I had no response. And even though I paid for extra warranty my phone was not fixed. I raised theissue and they blamed the iPhone and told me to buy another phone and they will credit the amount paid to my bill. ( aka make advance payment on my bill) I said pretty much go $&@! Yourselves. So then they gave me a new contract and new phone. That I cant seem to get out of! Unless I pay off the remaining amount on the renewed 2 year contract. :(

14244 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No coverage, dropouts at 23 Jan 2011 05:43:27 AM
Me & my wife's mobile coverage, particularly in our home is terrible. I can rarely have a conversation on the mobile as I cannot hear anything & eventually the line drops out. I have the expense of calling the person back on my land line.
Incoming calls rarely come through & generally go straight to voicemail where thereafter I have the expense of calling my voicemail & then the expense of calling the person back on a land line.
I can receive SMS messages hours after the person has sent them. Similarly when I send SMS messages.
This level of service (or lack of) has been going on for months & I cannot continue like this.
I have emailed vodafone about this issue & they replied with an auto generated email response saying:
Vodafone's GSM (2G) network covers up to 94.52%* of the Australian population. Our GPRS (2.5G) network covers 92% of the places you live and work in Australia. 3G available to 94% of the Australian population.
I live in Kingsford in Sydney (2032), 5kms from the CBD. Their response doesn't cut it.
I have also previously called Vodafone & they initial call, I haven't heard anything back.

Divert to voicemail always comes back on despite being deactivated ... As a pre pay customer this means you have to call 121 and pay to retrieve messages ... cost me over $30 this month.

Trying from to get my plan changed from 250 to 600 minutes/month. Vodafone wont even return my calls - there customer service centre is too busy - and I want to pay them more money!
I have been a customer for over 10years and every time I deal with them I come away feeling totally frustrated at the lack of service. I don't expect any change however - they continue to completely ignore the sentiments of their customers for years on end.

No coverage for months/no action taken as ordered by TIO to contact me for a resolve.
Calling TIO again to report no Voda contact to me.
Looks like a dissolved contract tomorrow!
I wonder if they'll want my iPhone back?
If so it will go back to them in a coffin!

4 Feb 2011 12:26:09 PM: The 2degrees service works exactly as intended. Very, very smooth. And they answer their emails.

I had a Vodafone contract for broadband and couldnt get any signal in Bridge Street, Sydney CBD. The freakin CBD. Everything was patchy outside of the CBD and nothing existed in regional NSW.
Ditto for phone calls. I gave up and moved to pre-paid with another carrier . . . for the fun of having vodafone I paid over 2k in costs . . to not use the service or make calls / internet as the service quality was terrible.
The customer service staff were quick to tell me I needed to pay out my contract to get out of it . 2k down the drain all up

I will be honest, It use to be pretty good for me. I have been with them for 12 years.
Now, the reception is poor in multiple different handsets, txts can take an extended time to be received by a recipient, 1555 Customer service has shockingly bad waiting times.
Recently I called to find out when my contract ends, which was Feb (one month away). I told them I will likely lower my contract at the end of the month, not really interested in another handset or go as far as canceling and porting my number to a new carrier. The customer service operator didn't even talk about it or offer anything to me or suggest talking to sales, just said "is that all you wanted to know?".
In my opinion they obviously don't want my business anymore or at least provide a deal to longer term customers or attempt to pursue me to stay.

14231 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 23 Jan 2011 03:00:02 AM
I live in the suburbs of central Auckland New Zealand. I use to spend anywhere from $250 a month or up to $500 if travelling overseas for about 10 years with vodafone. I found their service crap, frequent call drops text messages don't get received and so on. I must spent $1000's of dollars on first minute call trying to call be back after being cut off. I logged a job to see why there was frequent call drops in my area, after countless hours waiting and talking to merry go round techinical/support team over a period of 1.5 years attempting resolve the problem Vodafone decided to just close the job without investigation or advising me. I called again to re-log job, after 3 months they finally mobilized their techinical staff to have a look at the area. I managed to talk to the techinician myself and he said that my area was well-known and documented for BLACKSPOTS. OMG! I had been fighting vodafone support staff for almost 2 years to get something done which was already documented??? Did vodafone come to the party and compensate me for all the call drop-outs? Doubt it... They are a bunch of sharks and they'll never get another cent from me. Needless to say I was one of first to lead the exodus from Vodafone to 2 Degrees. My phone bill has dropped considerably and no more call drops.
Their support staff is only a drawn out distraction to bleed you of your hard earned money so you will be dissapointed in 6 months and not today. The only way to make them listen is to hit them in the wallet leave vodafone today!

I bought a pre-paid vodafone as my old ph broke. Spent over 4 hours that day I bought it trying to register the phone/sim etc cos it wasnt working from the handset. When I called the call centre, because I didnt apparently have a vodafone number, the system hung up on me bout 4 times. When I finally got through to a person, their English was so bad (or they were in an Indian call centre) that she couldnt understand what I was saying and said she would get someone to call me back. She asked for my phone number to call me on...well...i gave her the number and she repeated it to me and it was wrong, tried again...wrong...tried AGAIN..wrong..tried again..WRONG!! this went on to the point where I said to her 'look, we are going to do this one more time very slowly... ' i made her repeat each number after I said it...she STILL had it wrong and i said is there someone else who I can speak to,finally i just said here is the number, shouldnt be that hard!! then she said goodbye and hung up. NO callback until the next day after I had several more hours of waiting on hold and finally giving up and going to a store...hour later and a new sim card...fixed. But now I get system alert txts 24hrs a day, saying insufficient funds when I do have credit!! arghh why oh why did i get a voda phone!!?
14229 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Mobile internet is not worth buying t all at 22 Jan 2011 11:19:00 PM
I purchased this Vodafone mobile Internet connection and i am in the middle of a best serviced area (According to their stupid customer service officer). When i started using it, it takes about 1min to go to Google. I kept on using this useless connection for about 1 month experiencing this extremely slow connection.
Also i send 3 Emails to Vodafone customer care and i got automated replies with in 1min saying that the problem is solved but it was not. I couldnt tolerate this stupid behavior of Vodafone anymore and i rang them.
The guy who spoke to me had no idea about what he is doing. According to him i am in the middle of a best serviced area as well but i have to wait about a 1 min to go to Google and much longer to go to any other website. At the same time this guy is giving me instructions to plug the modem to another computer which i did. The funny thing is it didnt changed the speed it was still very very slow and when i type www.google.com.au instead of taking me to google it was going to some some other site which sells computer games.
When i told this to the customer service guy he said try on your computer and i did. Again the same story. Then i asked whether he got my Emails and also gave the reference numbers that vodafone has assign to my inquires, which i got automatic replies as well. The guy searched them in their system and said they havent got them which is ridiculous if they didnt receive them who sent me those replies me.
I wasted my money on this stupid vodafone Internet. As a student living below the poverty line, money they took from me is a lot. I should have spent that money to buy some food.

I think that is standard operating procedure.
All people need is for a Vodafone staffer (present or past) to swear to that, and it starts to look like "intentionally subjecting someone to cruel and unnatural suffering".

I've ported my number to telstra. I'm using iPhone 4. (owned). On Telstra prepaid with a browser pack. I.e 1gb 2gb data etc. Downloaded skype for iphones. In the skype register as unlimited package with flat rate fee.(only if u need make calls to landline or other) Now I can still make a lot of calls through skype from iPhone 4. (call anywhere in the world also). I don't have to spend too much $$$ on telstra. Use skype instead. This will save a lot. Such as VoIP. Better than Vodafone. Mine is 1gb data with telstra. I've been on phone all day. I used about 20mb data. (approximate 7 hours a call from iPhone.). Don't go stupid if your with Vodafone. Remember calls from skype to Skype is free. You'll thank me later. Telstra is recommended for a greatest data.

23 Jan 2011 01:43:11 PM: @23 Jan 2011 03:28:03 PM, the thing you don't understand is if people pay for a service, they expect to get it. Vodafone is crap and is not providing a service, they shouldn't be charging customers for that nor should they be signing more people up to something that doesn't work.

14225 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty bad at 22 Jan 2011 10:25:52 PM
I signed up on a 24 month contract with Vodafone in late 2009, assured that they provided complete coverage to 15 km out of my WA town. We live right near the centre of town, so until June 2010, while I was on maternity leave and sticking pretty close to home, all was okay. Then I went back to work part-time as a visiting teacher. Only one of the six schools I regularly visit has adequate coverage. My boss can't reach me when I'm at the other five. She's frustrated and so am I; I can't make or take calls from my base, 2 km from the CBD, either.
I'm originally from Brisbane and happened to be on a family holiday there until last week. During the floods crisis, I was staying with my sister, caring for her two and my three children and trying to help her move all her furniture upstairs. My husband had taken a short break with his very unwell mum and was frantically trying to reach us, as was my mum and our other sister, seeking updates and offering support. On Tuesday 11th of January, I had mobile phone reception only about 20% of the time for SMS and telephone calls. My sisters, with Optus and Telstra, and my husband, with Optus, had no disruptions to coverage at all. This made an already stressful situation more difficult. The limited coverage for my phone continued over the following four days. I've had enough, I want out.

and trying going to their retail outlets is also hopeless... there at more 3 staff and the Q is maybe 6 to 10 people....
So it's wait, wait, wait till you drop!

14218 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Australia wide at 22 Jan 2011 09:08:10 PM
I was a customer of Vodafone continuously for over 18 years , at first when the network was 100% Ericsson it was clearly the best network, it work everywhere i went and worked well. Since they started installing non Ericsson equipment in the last 5 to 7 years the quality fell, due to giving contracts to the lowest bidder. having spent most of my life in communications it is well known that there is some equipment out there that just does not communicate with others on a signalling level and therein lies the problem, you have to introduce interface equipmet that translates signals, introducing delays. The last three or four years the network became so hopeless and my bills grew so big that i had prepaid accounts on other telco providers to reduce costs, i was solidly loyal to vodafone in spite of this. in 2009 when my most recent contract fell due i was offered a new phone and new plan and because i had so many problems i extracted a verbal guarantee from the telephone salesperson that the problems were over if i took the new handset or i could cancel my contract. two days with the new phone and nothing had changed so i called in the promise, i got several new handsets sent to me over three weeks proposing to solve the problem but in the end they had to honour the agreement and cancel my contract. i moved to telstra and service was vastly differnt, it took vodafone 7 months to send me a refund cheque after calling them week in week out for my refund, alas i read they have bought huawei equipment, all i can say is good luck vodafone you made your bed now lie in it.

I just posted this on Vodafone's blog page.... they pushed me over the edge today. I hope they burn in hell...
I have been a customer for the last 3 years. For the first 2 years, I used to tout your company as the best phone company in Australia, with the best plans and great customer service. I cannot believe how far you have fallen in the last 12 months. Continuous call drop-outs, inability to access the net almost all the time, blatant (and proven) lies from your customer service teams, massive bills despite being on a 'cap plan', reneging on insurance claims by coming up with absolute bulls--t reasons for not paying, regularly being on hold for over 30mins when trying to get someone on the phone (and then having the line drop out when they finally do answer, as somehow I've been connected to the wrong department despite pressing every button I was instructed to and they need to 'transfer me'), being cut off for unpaid bills despite the aforementioned calls being made specifically to try and pay said bills, being told by some fool in India who does not give a rats arse about customers, that there is no way they can connect me with someone in Australia to discuss my problems (bloody cowards that you are). Well I have had a gut full.... I am leaving to join one of your competitors. I am going to tell everyone I have ever known and everyone will I ever meet 'NOT' to go near your company. I am joining the class action. I am going to post this letter and many more on Vodafail.com.

14216 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 22 Jan 2011 08:35:28 PM
I live 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and constantly have periods of NO SERVICE which is appalling. My calls will frequently drop out up to five times PER CALL no matter if I am driving, moving, or even sitting in the same place. Sometimes people calling me will not even be able to get through - it just goes straight to my messagebank. I often receive messages DAYS after they have been sent or even NOT AT ALL. I was in MELBOURNE last week and couldn't even get my internet to work at all. I don't think I've ever seen full service bars on my phone - except for in the Melbourne CBD.
I'm sorry Vodafone, but your service is absolutely pathetic and I'm sick of paying for rubbish.

14214 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Reception fail at 22 Jan 2011 08:00:38 PM
I live in the Northern Suburbs of Darwin. I have no bars of reception in my house. If I go out into the middle of the backyard, I get 2 bars of reception max. Darwin city itself is a 10min drive from my house where I get 4-5 bars of reception. If I take myself to the shopping centre (10min drive in the opposite direction), I also get 4-5 bars of reception. Yet between these areas I get nothing. I do not understand how it is so difficult to provide such a small city that Darwin is with decent coverage in its surrounding suburbs. If I was driving out of town, I do not expect decent reception without 3G coverage, but when you are literally a 10-15min drive from anything in Darwin and its suburbs, that there are only a few key locations where I can get a decent amount of reception. I stay with Vodafone because I like what is incorporated into the Cap Plans and Cap Prepaid options, however it is very irritating that I cannot sit inside and make a phone call. And even when I do make phone calls (in the middle of the yard), more often than not the call will drop-out, because the reception dropped out for a minute or two for reasons unbeknownst to me. Grrrr!
