26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

11188 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Need To Speak To Someone in Australia at 8 Jan 2011 08:42:08 AM
I have just taken a call from an operator at the Indian call centre in response to a complaint about poor network performance. It was on behalf of my son who has given my number as a backup contact. They said they had been trying to contact him for the past two days but have been unsuccessful. No surprises, I haven't been able to contact him on his mobile either. Fortunately he is with a friend who is with Telstra, and I can call him to make contact with my son. I asked for a phone number of someone to speak to in Australia, but all I was given as contact numbers were 1555 (constantly drops out, if it answers at all), 1300 650 410 (Indian call centre who don't seem to be aware that a problem exists in Australia) and 1300 111 111 (apparently this also goes to a call centre in India). I have just tried to call my son on his phone, and guess what, I am unable to get through. Looks like another call to his friend on Telstra. Given that my son can't get through to anyone at Vodafone, despite numerous unsuccessful attempts, does this qualify as reasonable grounds to lodge a TIO complaint.
8 Jan 2011 09:30:19 AM: As long as you feel you have a complaint, you can contact the TIO. They will give you a reference number and ask Vodafone to contact you to resolve the issue. So at some point, Vodafone will have to get through you your son/yourself for anything to be resolved. Getting the TIO involved will increase your son's chances of getting the outcome he is after.

11187 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the biggest con at 8 Jan 2011 08:36:13 AM
I am a Doctor, and frequently cannot receive or make calls on Vodafone. I will be a GP in 2 weeks, out in the community where communication is a must. I will have to buy a second Telstra phone to ensure my patient's safety as I cannot trust Vodafone.

Lets hope some of this gets noticed!
23 Jan 2011 07:29:21 PM: I thought doctors still had pagers? A very reliable old service.
23 Jan 2011 07:30:32 PM: Just contact the TIO to cancel your Vodafone account penalty free, then simply port to Telstra ~ No need for a second service, just one reliable one :)

11186 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 8 Jan 2011 08:21:10 AM
i purchased an i phone 4 and was told by vodafone i could unlock it straight away to put my testra sim in as i dont get coverage at my house and they were the cheapest to get an i phone from as i still have a yr and a half on my telstra contract. surprise surprise after swaooing my sim over to a icro sim it will now take upto 10 days to unlock the handset. vodafone you suck you mislead customers to sign up and then you dont do anything to help i hope you go bankrupt!!
8 Jan 2011 11:11:30 AM: Quite often if you buy a new phone from any network the unlock code is not readily available and it can take a week or so for the network to get the code from the manufacturer.

Once your phone is 3-6 months old or beyond the unlock code is immediately avaibable.

Two factors 'may' inpact upon the 3-6 month time frame:

(1) the manufacturer / brand of the phone; and/or
(2) how long the phone was held in stock at the stop you bought it from.
8 Jan 2011 01:43:23 PM: Actually you can get the unlock codes 24 hrs after signing up, by going to vodafone.com.au/unlock The iphone is the exception as with all telcos, you need to contact customer service they will then contact apple to get the code, and then you will recieve an SMS to plug into iTunes with another network's sim and that process should be 3 to 4 working days.
8 Jan 2011 02:48:07 PM: when signng up i was told i could unlock it srtaight away, i have had the phone for 2 weeks and still cant get anywhere with them, i called the about the issue and was told 10 days i said that wasnt good enough as i was told i could do it straight away and that was why i signed up. They then put me onto a supervisor who told me it was apples fault not theirs, he would sort it out and call me back, 5 hrs later no call from him so i call apple yself. Find out they told voda everything is ok on their end and that voda eed to escalate the issue as my imei seems like it hasnt been released yet.........I HATE VODAFONE!!! thanks for the useless phone!!
8 Jan 2011 03:00:12 PM: just spoke o vodafone to be old, no it is not an error from vodafone that there is actually a backlog on their end and it will take 10 days to resolve

11185 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Frustrating Fail at 8 Jan 2011 08:14:03 AM
I am on the phone right now and have been on hold for 30 minutes!

My issue is a safety issue my wife is 35 Weeks pregnant and in a high risk pregnancy and we had an emergency the other day and she could not call me, it kept dropping out, she could not email me, internet would not work, she had to go to the phone box to contact me!!!!

Went to the store they said they could not do anything even with the phone not connecting in front of them and dropping out when they tried to call my work number.

NOw the technical team say there may not be alot they can do.

It is not good enough I pat good money for her to be able to contact me and for that to FAIL when needed most is of great concern to me, especially over the next few weeks!

Thanks alot Vodafone.

8 Jan 2011 08:17:29 AM: When I started writing this it was 30 mins. I rang at 9:10 am and it is now 9:50am and I am still on hold.
8 Jan 2011 10:25:10 AM: Surely with hour wife safety so important you would go and buy a pre-paid telstra phone for her as backup (or in the case of the current vodafone shambles; as her main phone)
8 Jan 2011 11:19:57 AM: Not clear whether your problem is the phone and/or the network. I assume the staff in the shop tried your sim in another phone if your mobile would not connect in the shop (unless the shop is in a bad Vodafone reception area).

Anyway I agree with the author of the previous reply with your wife's safety so important I would suggest you buy a pre-paid telstra phone.
14 Jan 2011 05:09:27 PM: Landlines are awesome too. Don't worry. In a real actual emergency her phone can still call 000.
14 Jan 2011 05:10:14 PM: Only because it will use a real network such as Telstra or Optus. Can't rely on the Vodafone network for anything :)

11184 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Account keeping inaccurate and dishonest at 8 Jan 2011 08:13:39 AM
Won't update payments made on Web page, and now without paper billing this is all I've got to use against them. Mysterious $25 charge this month while still having ~2G left on usage. Clicking on 'Bill history' 'Payment history' 'Usage' etc ALWAYS brings me back to the inaccurate 'Acount Summary' page.

I wish Mr Nigel Dews all the worst for the New Year, and that someone screws him over, and treats him with the utter contempt he has shown to customers since September last year.

[Actually want to do worse things, starting with kicking him VERY HARD in his googlies, rest can't say online or in public].

11183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is They called me with a script at 8 Jan 2011 08:12:36 AM
I have had all of the problems on this site, dropped calls, texts that would have been faster sent by pigeon post. So bing a good chipmonk i complained on the vodafone website and THEY CALLED ME - it was so unpected I wondered if it was a hoax. Some poor bozo on a chain read the script telling me that they had taken note of my problems and would TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT WHEN PLANNING improvements in the area. They had now idea when this would be. Rather than say I would take this into account when planning to pay my account, i went to Telstra and signed up. See you in 10 years vodafone.... that is if the company still exists. I have a new word for Vodafone's board to learn - NOW!

11178 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very poor service at 8 Jan 2011 07:01:22 AM
Running a business is already a lot of work.
After spending tens of thousands of dollars on advertising to increase the number of calls to our business, it is embarrassing and frustrating when the call drops out before we have a chance to take the customer's details. I thought this was something to do with the iPhone, however, after speaking with others with the same phone on different networks, this is not the case.
Vodafone is the only cause for concern. This is not what we signed up for.
8 Jan 2011 07:38:37 AM: Not what we signed up for bit it's what we pay for

11177 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is shciking level of bad service at 8 Jan 2011 06:34:59 AM
1) phone call drop randomly from 10 ~20 minutes windows. When that happen two party can't dial to each other for at least 10 minute because no signal receive from the phone.
2) internet access via phone is hopeless. Often 3 ~ 5 tries to get a page load...
3) I NEVER had a chance to speak to Technical Support because after 30 min wait, they hang off my call... wtf.. I got this so many time I finally give up.
Email communication receive 0 feedback apart from auto-reply of reception confirmation.

ps: my area clayton. Phone HTC DHD . Just sign up on DEC. Same phone with different sim card have full 100% signal strength whereas with vodaphone sim card it never stay above 50%.

After being told my new phone would be delivered yesterday I waited at home all day, having changed work appointements to recieve NO phone. I rang at lunchtime to confirm that it was still being delivered and was told, after a 40 minute wait (the quickest response in the last 3 days) that there was a 99% chance that it would. Vodafone - you are uncontactable, drop out (or cut me off)on half the calls I make to you and are completely unreliable. SORT IT OUT.

11174 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Just shoot Me! at 8 Jan 2011 06:11:57 AM
I've had years of struggle and hair pulling despair with vodafone, because they offer no customer service or coverage on areas they claim to have coverage.
Now I have new name for my pain VIRGIN MOBILE!
I wanted to start my new year with new service provider, so I went to the Virgin Mobile on-line store, because on this website somebody said that they have good customer service. I bought prepaid mobile phone, sim and Wi-Fi modem. Seemed simple enough, but they took the payment twice from my visa debit card.
I have spent the whole week begging them to return thee other payment, but they claim that they never took it. My bank tells me that they can see that Virgin mobile took two payments of $197.
I haven't been able to pay my rent or some of my bills, because they hold on to that $197 and refuse to let it go. I told Virgin Mobile that I cancel my order and have sent back all the items, hoping to get back the other $197 they admit taking.
Yes, they do have people eventually answering their phones at the end, but they can take ten days after receiving the goods back, before returning the first payment. The second payment may have been lost forever.
My bank and VIRGIN MOBILE MANAGER told me that it's my own fault to lose the money, because I went to make the purchase on-line! How stupid of me to use their official website, and Visa Debit card, for on-line shopping!
And I'm still stuck with Vodafone, because until I get my money back, I can't go shopping for new phone or modem.
8 Jan 2011 10:27:33 AM: Why are you wasting you time with anything other than Telstra NExtG? Your just moving from one cheap provider to another. Pay more, and get what you pay for.

11173 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failed Miserably at 8 Jan 2011 06:10:20 AM
Back on Sept30 (And for 4 consecutive days) my 4 phones (Mine, wife and 2 x daughters) phones were sending multiple texts to every recipient. The least was 6 and the most was 14. When I spoke with Vodafone I was told they were aware of the 'Glitch' in there service and offered me $10 free credit. I explained that I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have a glitch in my business that invoiced clients 14times and I only had to reimburse $10 per complaint. Complaint ongoing. (While they still hang onto the massive profits they made from all clients over that 4 days)Check your own accounts people!!!

11172 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Fail at 8 Jan 2011 04:54:08 AM
It took me roughly 4 hours to post this as I am using the net on my phone and the signal would go from VodaAu to 3G to no service all in the matter of seconds. I have been with vodafone for roughly 7 years. I always thought they had the best caps. Iv had troubles before but it got unbearable when I got an iPhone. People can never get through to me even though my phone is on, my calls go silent for minutes and then end, costing me money to hear nothing. My partner is also with them and it can take me up to an hour to get through to him and everytime I hear "hi there" it is costing me more money to be annoyed. It's nice to know it's not just us. If this website fails to make them do something about this problem I won't be staying with them.
8 Jan 2011 05:56:05 AM: Not to mention the abuse I get from my partner over not being there to pick him up from work when mags don't come through or calls go straight to msg bank
23 Jan 2011 07:32:32 PM: Only a telstra customer would call it message bank lol

I sit here in my room, with my E71 on Vodafone's network in my hand, and I get absolutely no signal at all. None. I step outside, and sit barely one meter from where I was on the other side of the wall and I finally get one bar of signal but even that doesn't last very long. If I head out into the middle of the road in front of the house, stand there and hold my phone straight up into the air and in my hand on a slight angle I can get a great signal, but unfortunately this makes me susceptible to a sudden car run-over.

11167 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is very fail at 8 Jan 2011 12:32:18 AM
a once very satisfied vodafone customer that is now becomming impatient, since the big fail of saturday the 7th of december 2010 when I lost all reception, email ability a subsequently no contacyt with anyone for half a day I now condstantly get very limited reception in my house, constant drop out calls where I cannot connect with other people or it goes through to a silent void, numerous drop outs in conversation that do connect, a delay of about 3/4 hours in sending and recieving messages, calls and missed calls simply not ringing and registering and voicemail messages not getting through for hours. I am now getting very impatient and fed up of vodafone and wish I didnt renew my contract only 4 months ago.
8 Jan 2011 06:54:45 AM: No need to wish, check out the 'how to complain' page and you might find a way to get out of your contract without charge. You are paying for a service and vodafone is having difficulty delivering it.

11164 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Wont renew my contract at 7 Jan 2011 10:01:22 PM
I was already on a prepay service with Vodafone before i signed up to a contract. When i went to sign up for a 24 months contract, i had a bit of credit left on my prepay service already and i was advised by the sales rep that although he is signing me up on that day, i will be given a full month to use my existing prepaid credits, and he agreed not to date the contract. I also have a copy of the contract and it is not dated. Guess what? As soon as i left the store, he dated the contract and my first bill sent included the first month even though i had prepaid credits on my phone. I went back to the store, phone customer service but to no avail. I was told i am being unrealistic! Anyway i am glad vodafail is set up so customers including large corporations can make up their mind whether they want to associate themselves with such an arrogant company. I wont go any further about recent network issues i have been having in Nov & Dec...i have read too many on this website already.

Thank you VODAFAIL, good idea...

11161 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Horrid at 7 Jan 2011 09:59:15 PM
I have Cover Me mobile insurance and have had to make a claim. I did everything by the book; made a claim via telephone armed with IMEI numbers etc.. everything good so far, good customer service and helpful advice.

Then I'm directed to hand my handset in to a Vodafone store - let the fail begin:

The store is Queen St Mall in Brisbane, QLD. I have to wait for 30 minutes before I finally get served by a young rep. He's not apologetic, more annoyed by the fact I want to make a claim because all he says is "why what's wrong with it?". Two things here: 1. I've already made an approved claim so just get on with it and 2. That's hardly the response I want to hear after waiting so long to be serviced.

He starts filling out the necessary forms to no avail - the store PC is taking too long, a problem apparently solved by going 'out back to the office'. So he slinks out of sight into a back office and leaves me waiting. This is when my attitude goes from 'lol what can you do' to boiling point. While he's out there reps keep moving in and out of the back office to get handsets for new customers. Through the thin gap the ajar door makes I see about 4 reps all sitting around fax machines, PCs and the lunch table laughing away. They may well be on their lunch break but when the guy who's filling out my app is among them it just makes it look like he doesn't give a fuck.

So I finally get to leave the store, my poor excuse of a temporary replace phone in tow (a Vodafone 736). But whatever, it's a replacement and nice to have a phone again. I make the journey home, plug the phone into the charger since it wouldn't turn on earlier due to flat battery - oh no wait it's not a flat battery, the replacement phone is faulty. Another adventure to the Vodafone store tomorrow. Yay :/
8 Jan 2011 08:49:35 PM: totally agree with ya, I had a few mates used to work for that store, they were saying that many of the staff just dont really care about customer service and would go to the back room to "have a chat" even customers are waiting. I guess thats why my mates have left the store :-S
9 Jan 2011 10:33:24 AM: Had the same experience but with an Allphones store. I am female. I was waiting to be served by an Indian male manager. A friend of his walked in, they chatted for several minutes totally ignoring, not even acknowledging my existence. I walked out. So it's not just Julia Roberts who has this problem!

11159 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is A Absolute Rip off! Everyone should skype use have incoming calls only on Mobiles and top up once a year. Vodafone is STRAIGHT UP SHIT at 7 Jan 2011 09:58:51 PM
For my birthday I thought i'd upgrade my phone and go on contract after being on prepay with vodaphone NZ and vodafone australia for over 10 combined years. Anywho this is how it it panned out.

1st step: I apply for the contract online and was approved and had my phone delivered to me etc, however because the phone was very expensive I called Vodafone and requested to have incurance added.

2nd step: As advised by a vodaphone rep who "Fucken Lara" the machine eventually transferred me to and took over an hour to I was then advised that insurance cannot be approved over the phone and I must take the phone in to a store so they can view and confirm that insurance was applied before the package was opened.

3rd Step: A lady fills out the insurance form we both sign and she says it will be sent away and I will be charged $10p/month. I was not given a copy of the insurance forms.

All sounds easy right???? WWWWWRRRRROONNNNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!

My phone breaks so I take it in and was advised will not be warranty. Fine I advised is under insurance only to be told the is no way I can have insurance if i signed up over the phone..... like WTF "What The Fuck" Yep I was told insurance cannot be applied when contracts have been organised via direct deals over the net. Ok now this is crazy but its true so i decided FUCK that im gonna get something in writing.

I then go online and chat some spastic who also said the same thing so i said to her "I was told to take the phone in still sealed and have the insurance forms filled out, signed and sent away" so she replies back saying i am right so then I email her back and say "Please read your email below confirming that insurance cannot be added" so the dumb bitch emails me back and says "I am just going off what you said previously" I mean come on who works for vodaphone the spastic or me.

In the end I couldnt be fucked dealing with vodafone...... I pay my bill late every month and I wait for a collections call unfortunately for the person on the other end they cop a ear bashing!!!! And now that they have disconnected my phone I have called them to update my details and they are now calling me on another mobile number to collect funds.

Yes I am still paying it as I do not want bad credit but guranteed I will leave $100 or less at the end of my contract and call them back to request a credit.

Vodafone is shit!!!! I recommend you get rid of it, start using your work phone if you can or get a landline. If that does not suit you then go anywhere but vodafone..... Hate them with a passion.
8 Jan 2011 07:25:46 AM: Great Aussie customer service Han..
8 Jan 2011 11:44:53 AM: I'm not so sure about this. Pay all your other bills like water etc on time or even in advance and only pay VF when collector calls. People checking your credit might notice this and realise the problem is VFu..wi.s.
9 Jan 2011 01:25:42 AM: If this is true you would go to the TIO. They have sorted issues far less and worse then this.

I would assume you kept logs when ever possible to help your case.
9 Jan 2011 05:48:01 PM: Please do not swear!!

8 Jan 2011 05:28:16 AM: I also read they are giving fuel vouchers so we can drive around and try find areas of ok coverage, also they are giving out distress flares so if you get in trouble and network down, you can send a flare up and hopefully someone will help

I recently went on holidays to 1770 in Qld. Absolutely NO reception. Not even a single bar to receive texts. On top of that we were stuck there in the middle of the flood waters, with no way to contact family to let them know we were trapped there, or that we were ok. On top of that I have calls dropping out constantly (in Brisbane), and often I have friends and family tell me they've been trying my mobile constantly, although it doesn't even ring.. Vodafone you suck!

Vodafone are absolute crap! i've been with them for about 6 years now and i've been experiencing problems with reception! everytime i call someone they either can't hear me properly or it cuts out and most of the time when i send txt msgs it gets sent twice when i've only sent it once! The worst mess i've been in so far has just happened recently where i've got a $149 cap from woolies and i've gone home straight away and pulled it out of my wallet to recharge my phone credit, i've pressed 1# to confirm my voucher number and for some strange reason they've directed me to vodafone call centre, i've explained to them what happened and the operator has asked me the voucher number as well as the serial number and it turns out that the voucher was already being used!! What the....??? i've gone back to woolies to complain abou the problem, they've checked it on their store camera's and so have I to make sure this lady hasn't picked up a used one off the counter, it turns out she hasn't. I've gone to ring vodafone again and complained and told them I was going to change phone companies if they didn'tn give me my credit and they said there's nothing they can do about it and all they could do was give me $50 straight credit!! GET STUFFED!!!! I'm now with Optus and so far so good!!...

was in the middle of surfers paradise at midnight and i couldnt even make a call to my friend. we got separated a few hours earlier and i was meant to stay at a hotel with him and some friends in a hotel. i couldnt call to find out which hotel so long story short i ended up catching a cab back to my house in brisbane which cost $200. i sent multiple texts that my friend received the next day. FML
7 Jan 2011 09:46:15 PM: i went to a house party where i stayed the night and was going to call my aunt in the morning to come and get me as i didnt know anyone at the house except one person who was really sick and still in bed and i could NOT get any reception, everyone was asleep i had no idea what to do, in the end i crept out and found there house phone, hope they dont mind a mobile call lol. but thats rediculous i mean what if they didnt have a house phone i would of had to call a cab...but o yeah...no phone. UGH. i probably would of had to walk home lol

Don't buy large credits from Vodafone - you may lose them.

8 Jan 2011 11:33:30 AM: And when you pay an account don't expect them to acknowledge it. Fortunately done using internet banking, so have paper and internet verification of payments. I believe their network and accounting systems were designed and managed by demented monkeys with an abacus and screwdriver while drunk.

11147 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is SO FAILED, SO BAD at 7 Jan 2011 07:42:46 PM
We live in North Lakes QLD, 25km from Brisbane City (not central QLD).10year old suburb that is exploding in population and has 13000 people now and is expected to have 25000. Vodafail has never had good reception. We have both mobiles with Vodafone and wireless broadband. We had contunial drop out and nil service with our broadband and eventually got is disconnected but had to wait out our 12month contract. We have now served 18months of a 24month contract and we are soooo done.
We reported bad service levels and recption to the North Lakes store on several occassion and throughout this period and of course no action. Went back recently and got given a phone number - 1300650410 to get our phone disconnected. Called 10days ago (60mins on hold) and they took all details and tried to say the coverage map says its okay. Well from India it would look good but how about you come stand in my loungeroom and make a call. Continuous drop out, nil service, missed calls, late voicemails and it goes on. They said they will investigate and get back within 72hrs. 264hrs later and guess what? no call! My wife called today at 1530 to see what was happening, 30mins to get hold of someone, then 5mins to go through notes. They acknowledged there was a technical issue in the area (really!)and they would be upgrading the area. They told us that 4yrs ago when we moved here. Transfered to cancellation department where she was onhold for 2hrs. Phone call was answered and immediately cut off. Called back, waited 30mins, spoke to another peron, explained I wanted to speak to someone now and not be placed on hold again, so I was put on hold then transferred to another line that rang and rang and rang for 80mins. Meanwhile my husband called them at 1830 tonight on another phone. My wife is still holding and on the phone since 1530. 30mins later my husband got "Shakeil". Obviously blew my stack at him and explained the events of today and last week. He was very very sorry! and said he would have someone from the cancellation team call me within 24-48hrs... Well Shakeil, I have heard all this before. He promised he would email the team leader direct, send a text message to my wifes phone(which has no reception) confirming the call back booking.... I can tell you know we have never ever been so angry, frustrated and annoyed in all our lives. Thats about 5hrs of my life that we will never get back. This has led me to consume upwards of 5 beers so far tonight and waste a crap load of money on calls waiting to be answered.
I hope Shakeil can live up to his promise, cause if we don't get a call in 24-48hrs to approv the cancellation of our service, there will be trouble!
7 Jan 2011 07:53:31 PM: Shit, served 18 months so far out of 24, shouldnt they give early release for good behaviour, or parole perhaps?
7 Jan 2011 08:02:21 PM: When in doubt give the TIO a shout :)

7 Jan 2011 08:07:37 PM: Did you get a reference number?
7 Jan 2011 08:30:18 PM: asked for some kind of confirmation of the call and was provided with nothing...
7 Jan 2011 09:30:11 PM: Contact the TIO via their website, that way you get a reference number and vodafone then have 10-15 days to do something about it.
8 Jan 2011 07:37:53 AM: Vodafone Calling
'Can you pls explain your gender'.
From your post above it seems you have a husband and a Wife.

I can't receive or send calls/text messages. I live in Hornsby and use my phone for my work. I have to hop in my car and drive a couple of kms so as to make calls.
Could the problem be related to their Transceivers?
7 Jan 2011 07:46:20 PM: Vodafone are aware of the problem and are handing out fuel vouchers with every contract signed, so we can all drive around in the hope of finding coverage
7 Jan 2011 07:47:58 PM: The problem could be the failed f@#*en network
7 Jan 2011 07:49:09 PM: The problem could be related to the CEO and everyone below him
7 Jan 2011 07:59:49 PM: "Vodafone are aware of the problem and are handing out fuel vouchers with every contract signed, so we can all drive around in the hope of finding coverage"

Bahahahahaha, one of the best replies I have heard yet...only beaten by:

11144 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ****ASHES OVER, SPEED GOOD**** at 7 Jan 2011 07:22:51 PM
THE ASHES FINALLY OVER THE NETWORK SPEED SEEMS TO MAGICALLY BE GOOD.
STRANGE HOW THIS ALL STARTED ABOUT THE START OF THE ASHES.
NOT SEEN TO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CRICKET APP FROM VODAFONE FAILING.
AT 7 MILLION PLUS AT $2 DAY, SEEMS LIKE THE COMPANY DEDICATED ALL THE BANDWITH TO PROVIDE ASHES COVERAGE AND JUST DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE NETWORK SLOW DOWN TO THE OTHER BROADBAND/ 3G CUSTOMERS.
I THINK THIS WHOLE NETWORK UPGRADE WAS A SNOW JOB FOR THE REAL REASON THAT THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN THE BIG PROFIT FROM THE ASHES AND DID NOT THINK HOW THE BANDWITH WOULD OVERLOAD THE NETWORK. PRETTY BASIC IT TO STUFF UP.
VODAFONE SHOULD CREDIT ALL 3G / BROADBAND CUSTOMERS AT LEAST 10GB OF BANDWITH USE FOR THEIR LACK OF SUPPORT FOR THE OTHER CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO VIEW THE ASHES SERIES ON THERI MOBILE DEVICE.!!!!
7 Jan 2011 07:40:03 PM: Hmmmm, that sounds like a cool theory.
I wish some VF employees would do a Wikileak tell all about the failings of the VF network.
8 Jan 2011 04:40:55 AM: One of their ex engineers (left some months ago) told me that the company's policy is to be hopelessly light on engineers and hopelessly heavy on sales staff. At the low prices Vodafail charges their customers for its deals, they cannot hope to make the money to employ more engineers. Meanwhile Vodafail goes on signing up more and more customers. So the whole problem is a vicious circle.

Yes, let's have some Wikileaks! Do their engineers see any light at the end of the tunnel? To hell with the opinions of their PR and sales staff?
8 Jan 2011 06:57:53 AM: If you do have any leaks email them to someone@vodafail.com and we can safely release them to the public.

11143 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Fail of all fails at 7 Jan 2011 07:15:34 PM
Try owning a service business with the VF mobile as your contact number and you don't get your voicemails from missed calls sometimes for hours but other times not for days! I have lost more money than I care to think of because of this and all they can tell me is it is my iPhone causing the issue.

Also, I have started to get bills for $600-700 with heaps of data usage in the last 6 months. Honestly, I have not changed the way i have used my phone enough to warrant this. Also, It's not bad when I basically don't use my phone for anything but texts and calls (and retreiving two day old voicemail messages). I have spoke to VF re this and they can't give me any answers!

11140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is wasted hours on phone with VODAFail at 7 Jan 2011 07:06:15 PM
Common theme among all dissatisfied customers is
being forced to waste hours on phone line while
trying to contact Vodafail.. could this be deliberate
ploy on part of VodaFail management to discourage
clients from canceling contracts or complaining
about service? VodaFail must have millions of clients
on contracts? Few thousand writing of horrible
experiences is not going to cause them any worries or
make any dent in company profits. I have to suffer
another 18 months before contract expires.

Missed calls that go straight to message when phone is not in use and in range. In addition missed call and new messages come through anytime from minutes, hours or not at all. This is the same for text messages. Problem is I now know it is a one off and I have no confidence in my calls/messages getting through. I just call another user sitting beside me and the call went straight to message also text same person and some 1 hour later still no message. This is a case of what I do not know might harm me ie. what have I missed that I am totally unaware of?

am in qld, must of accidently clicked NT

anyway, also wanted to add, when i ring vodafone to tell them i want to up my monthly charge because i'm spending over and they are charging too much for extra calls, after being on hold for far too long a lady answers and tells me there is this new plan of $49 or whatever it was for $500 credit!!!!!!!! so for their new customers that just sign up they get $500 for their $49! and ME who has been with vodafone for past six years ... they don't bother to tell me about this amazing new plan!!!!! ROAR!!!
7 Jan 2011 10:25:18 PM: plans change all the time. All customer are free to switch to the new rates if they want however you just need to ask. As you are in a contract you need to request the changes yourself. In most cases the plans are better but for some people older rates may be better suited in regards to inclusions and call rates etc so that's why people aren't automatically switched.

i have been sold a vodafone interent wireless stick on a contract. the contract isn't bad, 29.95 for 5gb or something, which i never use ... the problem is I CAN"T GET RECEPTION!!!! i have problems with my phone too, i can't get reception, my phone drops out during conversations, i cancel my insurance because when my phone breaks for some reason the insurance doesn't cover it, i keep get charged insurance for six months, i ring to complain and they tell me to go on the internet to look for a new plan! I CAN"T GET THE INTERNET THANK YOU VODAFONE!!! also ... just travelled from perth to airlie beach in a 4wd and needed my phone to call local police in each town to ask if roads were flooded, not that i could do that because vodafone doesn't get reception anywhere!!!! not happy with paying over $100 every month and not getting reception when i need it most. will more than likely go telstra when my contract ends. also have spent hours on hold with the phone on speaker so i don't kill my ear drums only to be hung up on.
7 Jan 2011 07:12:10 PM: Wait until you try to stop a contract extension when your 24 month term is up. You cannot email, call or have vodafone call back to end your contract. (see 10740) below. Every time I went to pay my bill using vodafone's website, the site was down, or unusably slow, or not allowing me to login. I didn't realise how long this had continued -- they cut my service and it took 5 phone calls, each of at least 30 minutes, to restore. When I first entered my plan with Vodafone, I signed up for the $49/month plan. When I received my first bill I was astonished to find that I had been issued with a THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY EIGHT DOLLAR BILL. Upon calling Vodafone, they told me I had been signed up for the $29/month plan, and would need to provide my invoice as proof that it was *their* fault not mine. After about 20 minutes of back and forth "there's nothing to suggest that you wanted a $49 cap", (even though I had provided my invoice) they offered me a $50 discount on my bill, but advised me that to return to the $49/month cap there would be a $45 fee. Which meant after everything, I saved $5. It took me about 3 months to pay off and there was absolutely no lenience or understanding from Vodafone at all. I never recommend Vodafone to friends and won't enter a second contract with them.
7 Jan 2011 07:02:42 PM: When they get you (and they get a lot of people), they dont let go
7 Jan 2011 07:33:22 PM: but they MUST fix the account at their expense....they have no choice
8 Jan 2011 05:19:32 AM: Sure, but it will take a lot of time, effort and frustration to get them to fix it, they count on the fact that a percentage of clients will give up
8 Jan 2011 11:18:16 AM: Not this one, complained to TIO, have printscreened their account and saved them because I suspected they were up to something. Have bank records, printscreens to prove I owe them NaNa, zero, zilch!

After about 30mins on the phone (72mins on hold mind you) i was told they will order me a phone to be sent in the new year and would give me a $30 credit. So new year has come and on the 4th jan i received a text stating my phone will be delived on the 7th, i then received a call on the 5th confiming my phone will be deleived on the 7th. So i took the day off so that i can be here when it arrives. 6pm come and no phone i then called vodafone and was ept waiting for 1 hour and 20mins before my call was answered... all i got was we are sorry there was problems at dispatch i then asked why noone called to advise as i took the day off and they could say nothing but sorry. I then asked for compensaton and that i want the phone by Monday as they advised me on the phone. The only compensation they gave me was $100 credit! Thats not even my days wage and NO garentee that it will arrive Monday.

11124 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No words to explain... at 7 Jan 2011 05:20:43 PM
I have had a post already to state my issues with drop outs and lack of coverage at home and at work, yet they have managed to top it!!!

Yesterday I have had some problem with my touch pad, was not responding, so call for help. I was told that I should switch off the phone and do a hard boot. (Holding down send and hang up buttons as phone turned on)
After I have down that, phone has erased all data from the phone, booted, yet never fixed the issue, only created a new one. Phone is now completely useless, as it is asking to choose network provider, that is only can be down by tapping on one or the other....

Being Thursday, run down to Bondi Junction Vodafone, where 3 young stuff members were busy chatting with clients, in a very casual manner. After about 30 minutes of wait, one of them turned to me and asked, "what do you want"...

Quickly have set him straight, as that language and tone of voice was way out of line, bought a new phone out right and left as soon as I could!

I AM THROUGH WITH VODAFONE!!! I can't wait to have my contract finished and all of our phones (small business with all stuff on one plan), taking it elsewhere...
7 Jan 2011 05:55:38 PM: As someone in business, and having a lot of problems with vodafone, I honestly believe it makes economic sense to pay those greedy bastards at telstra, for what has to be far better coverage, and move on
7 Jan 2011 06:47:13 PM: I have used telstra for mobile internet broadband and 3g phone for several years and only use Vodafail as a backup. Telstra customer service also totally sucks big time but their mobile coverage all around australia is 1st class. I have been 20 metres underground, surrounded by solid rock and still get a 5 bar telstra signal. Vodafone could never come close to this.

My mum and I signed up for blackberry storms 2 years ago on the same day but apparently vodafone have just decided go add an extra 3 months to my contract without notifying me but couldn't give me an explanation as to why. I called the TIO and they've now lodged a complaint and said vodafone have no right to do that. Where do they get off doing this kind of crap? I've been with vodafone since 2005 and this is how they treat their customers? It's disgusting and their customer service really sucks.

11122 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is NON-EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE at 7 Jan 2011 04:44:28 PM
I have now been on hold with Vodafone Customer service for 3 HOURS AND 10 MINUTES!

FOLLOWING IS THE CONTENT OF AN EMAIL JUST SENT TO EVERY VODAFONE EMAIL ADDRESS I COULD FIND FOR COMPLAINTS, PUBLIC RELATIONS AND MANAGEMENT:

"MY VODAFONE NUMBER: (0410) XXX XXX

Sirs

I dialled 1555 from my mobile in order to have a member of the Customer Support Team reset the password to enable me to log on to My Vodafone.

I HAVE BEEN ON HOLD FOR 3 HOURS and 15 MINUTES and just get a voice periodically telling me to "hang in there. We'll be with you very soon!"

When I did speak to Customer Service yesterday afternoon I was told the Vodafone Systems were down and inaccessible to carry out my request and that I should "call back in 24 hours".

It is out of frustration and desperation that I now send you this email.

I ask that you note my utter disgust and contempt at the poor level of service that Vodafone is providing to its customers and should I not have received a text message containing a temporary password allowing me access to Vodafone on line self-service features, I will cancel my subscription and forward the email to all national press agencies., It is with regret that I contemplate this step and also ask that you note that I herewith reserve my rights

Yours faithfully"

11121 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is worst ever at 7 Jan 2011 04:32:57 PM
Just found out that I couldn't make outgoing calls or receive incoming calls(all diverted to the voicemail). No wonder my phone has been stayed silenced for a few days. But strangely the signal strength shown on the fone is with full bars.

Called the customer service, waited for about 35 mins, and hung up the call - srsly I got a life, I wont be able to stay over the fone for that much that that I could do loads of stuff.

There are heaps of onging issues with my fone, slow internet browsing (could not load a complete webpage at all, always stuck at 60%. and then fone died), low battery life (I assume this is with the fone manufacturer, but still, the fone sucks, why were they in the market at the first place anyway, QA check must have failed). And no flexible option (I asked to upgrade my existing plan to a more expansive one 6 days after I signed up this one, but they refused saying I either pay out the 23 months before i start a new contract or have my fone for a service).

I will never sign up vodafone again. This is the biggest mistake ever I made (stayed with 3 for 6 years never had a single issue.)

DONT EVER SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE THEY ARE EVIL!
DONT EVER SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE THEY ARE EVIL!

7 Jan 2011 05:59:50 PM: Not so much evil, just play the stalling game, keep buying time, even if they have to give you stuff to keep you, they will
7 Jan 2011 09:03:07 PM: as recommended by the TIO themselves your gonna have to just wait your turn and wait on hold, there is a call back option, no you do not have to wait on the phone

11119 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgraceful at 7 Jan 2011 04:13:24 PM
I am (was) a very long term Vodafone Customer who up until approximately 12 months ago was reasonably content with their service. I accepted poor coverage in regional areas and was constantly assured every time I took out another contract that 'the network was undergoing upgrades and would continue to improve'. It has since got progressively worse and is now completely unreliable and for the most part, unusable.
Living near the Brisbane CBD I now suffer continuous dropped calls, 1 bar of 3G (if I'm lucky), sporadic and poor data downloads, late SMS or voicemails, poor battery life due to continual network searching and an Iphone that works wonderfully as an Ipod and media device. It certainly doesn't run up a huge phone bill as it is spectacularly useless as a phone.
I also have a 3G mobile broadband USB device that has failed to work at all in terms of receiving my supposed 3Gig of free data per month. After numerous complaints and the standard 'technical investigations' Vodafone agreed to reduce my account by $10 per month after it admitted I lived in a poor reception area (7 kms from the CBD on a hill????).
So now I have a 3G USB device that serves nicely as a paperweight and an Iphone that I can listen to music on.
I now have to rely on a Telstra prepaid (a common theme from others on your website) to make calls. My constant complaints to Vodafone in relation to my phone reception was constantly met with the advice 'Switch your phone to 2G'.
If I wanted a 2G phone I would have damn well bought one. I paid for a 3G service and I don't have it. However their complaints system is so poor, wait times are so long, and requests are met with vague and generic 'investigations' or 'transfers to another team' that their expertise in bureacracy and spin rivals that of 'Yes Minister'or a team of spin doctors on Red Bull.
I contacted Vodafone last night (3 separate calls with an average 40 minute wait time) and advised I was cancelling my service. I was offered the same...wait for it...'technical investigation' (read stalling tactic)and advised I would have to pay the rest of my 18 months of payments (nearly $1200) to be released.
I am now working in direct support of the Queensland Floods in a senior planning position and my phone is critical to my work. I now have the phone switched off and transferred to another phone in order to ensure I am contactable.
I intend to pay the full amount as I am sick to death of dealing with customer service and their mythical 'technical investigations' (you don't need to be a communications engineer to determine that the network simply can't cope with so many smartphones competing for bandwidth)and leave in absolute disgust. Evidence will suggest that a bad customer experience generally results in advising at least ten of your friends of your experience. I intend to tell as many as I can to steer clear of this network as it continues to offer cheap deals and handsets with minimal or no reception.
I have contacted Australia's largest Telco who are very happy to match Vodafones price and guarantee the quality of their network. They also offered an incentive to transfer (they must be doing a roaring trade) and expressed they are dealing with many Vodafone customers who have given up in sheer frustration.
I am now nearly $1200 out of pocket and disgruntled with exceptionally poor serice and coverage. Quite simply I have had enough and will never go back to Vodafone.
I sincerely hope many others are released from their contracts, I have chosen to give up rather than spend my valuable time battling a huge corporation.
Incidentally I am more than happy for anyone from Vodafone to assess the veracity of my complaints and view for themselves the poor state of reception in and around Brisbane (not forgetting the national highway system, regional areas, inside buildings and in full view of Vodafone towers). I doubt however, that they will and fully expect the customer service offer of a 'callback; in 24 to 48 hrs (again a familiar theme on your website)will fail to eventuate, as will my 3G reception.

11 Nov 2011 06:57:27 PM: I had the very same problem and i went to the tio and i ported my number to telstra and i even ported my iPad number from optus to telstra the iPad number was a usb modem number and now i got rid of the optus modem and desposed it into a mobile phone recicabale bin but i would like to see how the vodafone 850 mhz band works and i can get the vodafone 850 mhz in my area but i can't get 2.1 ghz umts 3g on vodafone or optus at leased they are upgrading there towers to 850 mhz and 900 mhz and lte 1.8 ghz and lte is alot more robust then 3g umts 2.1 ghz

11118 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Really bad at 7 Jan 2011 04:09:09 PM
I just got a mms that was sent 6 days ago just then as I had to turn my phone on and off to get reception,,, but that was not the reason I wanted to comment.
I am practically in the middle of Brisbane (Highgate Hill) and for the 3 years our company has been with vodaphone we continually get drop outs and all the time cannot get reception from the top of Highgate Hill, Go Figure.
That is not the worst of it but I have not the time to complain any more so I will change out Companies mobile phone service provider over. It's been to long and without this website I would never have bothered, thanks for giving me the jolt to do something about it, my staff have been complaining for a while now.

11117 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 7 Jan 2011 04:07:07 PM
On 16/12/2010 my two vodafone iphones started recieving no service at all in the eltham area.I could send and recieve texts and had full internet but could not make or recieve any calls at all. I contacted vodafone by phone and after waiting 40 minutes i was told to try various things including putting the sim card in another phone and to try a new sim card I did all they said to no avail.I went into the vodafone store on 20/12/2010 after not being able to get through by phone for two days and many attempts. The girl in store said they would contact me about the problem within 24 hours but they didnt.I tried to phone on 6 more occassions, i only managed to get through once but had to hang up after one hour due to work commitments.I then went into the vodafone store again on the 4/01/2011 and waited 30 mins to be served and another 30 mins while staff tried to help. They said someone would contact me in 24 hours. They didnt.I went back into the vodafone store on the 6/12/2011 waited 30 mins to be told again that someone would contact me in 24 hrs, they didnt.on 7/1/2011 pm i went to vodafone and they said there is nothing they can do.
I belive it would be fair and just to have my contract cancelled so that i can go to a provider that provides service. It has nearly been a month of no service and hours and hours of waiting and calling and trips to vodafone stores, i am sooo frustrated and find it incredible that a company can get away with this treatment of customers. I run a small business from home and this problem has impacted my earnings and business greatly.
I have just submitted my complaint to the TIO.

Frequently I try to contact my partner, who is also (unfortunately) with Vodafone, and it goes straight to his message bank. This is an ongoing issue which 'they' said they were fixing. My partners phone number was 'given away' to another user and he was unable to use his phone for days. After many visits into the Kalgoorlie store (where they had to ring India for help anyway) he finally got his number back. No apology, compensation. Gosh we feel like we have a substandard service on every level.

Came over to Brisbane and Gold Coast with 2 iphones & purchased vodafone SIMs to avoid extortionate roaming data costs. Got a great deal ( I thought the included 3 gig of data for a month) They could have offered 30 gig or 3 meg - cause data just own't work after 6:00 am till 11:00 pm. Voda NZ had similar problems in the big cities ( yes, we do have one or 2), but they appear to have fixed it. Strangely, a day trip to a very busy Byron Bay in NSW saw the phones perform flawlessly, but, the minute we were back over the QLD border, the data just kept timing out!.

Maybe you could Vodafone AU borrow some request some engineers from their Kiwi counterpart to juice up their network!.

using vodafone mobile broadband for 6 months in thornbury, northern suburbs of melbourne. Frequent disconnects (within 2mins constantly!) regular ip address conflicts (overloaded network) signal strength has never been better than 'poor' or 'very poor'. Vodafone Mobile Connect software is terribly buggy, constant RAS errors preventing reconnection until i restart the computer. Unplugging the modem and reconnecting it sometimes solves the ras errors and allows me to connect, but often the VMC software cannot find the device at all and prevents the computer from being restarted (endless loop at the Vista shutdown screen until BSOD) until i hit the reset button. Its been nothing but an exercise in frustration for months, and is the most pathetic excuse for a service i have ever encountered in the telecommunications industry. Id rather be on dialup its substantially more reliable, nuff said. My connection has dropped three times in the time its taken me to write this.

7 Jan 2011 03:09:43 PM: Vodafone UK may not worry, if Vodafone Australia is still signing on customers. Why worry about the welfare of customers, if Vodafone Australia keeps channelling rivers of gold in the UK's direction.

Of course there comes a day . . . and that will be when contracts are not renewed and disgruntled Vodafone customers switch to other service providers?

But has that day come yet? Are people still seeking deals rather than service?

Each generation has to learn the adages of business - (1) you get what you pay for, and (2) if it seems too good to be true then it probably is.

8 Jan 2011 10:51:21 AM: Yes, their accounting is inaccurate, unaccessible and have no idea what a charge is for as 'Bill History' is always 'experiencing communication difficulties' and this has been the case for about a month. We have been receiving countless dropped calls, painfully slow mobile phone internet connection and wait times so ridiculous that you can only hang up in frustration. Not to mention a growing number of staff that are absolutely incompetent in dealing with ANY issues and that will constantly flick/transfer you to the 'right' department or just plain hang up on you. I have worked in a call centre before and I know how call stats work and the pressure the staff are put under to reduce reduce reduce their talk time which ends up with the staff just hanging up. It really is coming across as though VODAFONE is just getting too greedy by not training their staff and by downgrading their service and reception so as to lead a price war.

10 Jan 2011 07:47:35 AM: Hi,

To unsubscribe from Vodafone Compass type in www.vodafonecompass.com into your phone's browser, scroll to the bottom of the page and select My Subscription. Select Unsubscribe and follow the prompts.

If you are still having problems, please drop us an email support@yappmobile.com.au (we are the developer behind Vodafone Compass) and we will sort this out for you asap.
28 Apr 2011 03:37:03 PM: Hi

I am also trying to unsubscribe from Vodafone compass and I'm finding it is not easy at all and it's really frustrating. I have an iPhone and when I typed that web address into the phones browser it takes me to the app store where there is no unsubscribe button. When i googled "unsubscribe from Vodafone compass" all the results are from little blurb about it that says you can "unsubscribe at any time". False advertising because no where does it tell you HOW. I only subscribed for the Garage Sale Trail and I've already paid for another month. This is really shitting me. It's pretty dodgy to make an app with a subscription to a monthly payment that is really difficult to get out of. I want my $16 back for the two months I already paid for.

11082 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very Fail at 7 Jan 2011 12:46:24 PM
I have not been able to use my 3G network properly for many months. I made a complaint about 6 months ago after major frustrations and just gave up and dealing with a 2nd rate service. I went into a store one day and I was advised to turn off the 3G network as it "really doesn't work well anywy". Whenever I have full bar on my 2G network I have tried to switch over to 3G and goes right back to no service. why should I have to pay full price for a service which is not meeting up to its expectations. I tried to call vodafone today and there appears to be no option for them to call back as after 10 minutes I gave up. I run my own business and sometimes I have 3 h ours of voicemail deliveries due to non delivery. I have not used visual voicemail for many months due to it not being reliable. Very very frustrating,
7 Jan 2011 02:12:15 PM: Also have been told by staff to turn off 3G which does improve the call reception but leaves you wondering whether we have just stepped back 10 years in technology and why we are paying for a 3G service we are even advised by VODAFONE doesn't work.

11081 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a load of BS at 7 Jan 2011 12:33:11 PM
i was assured i was 'smack bang in the middle' of the coverage area after raising concerns about previous coverage in my area when signing up to vodafail for the first time. i am only 5km from the brisbane CBD and i have NO SERVICE at my house, and my ability to use my alloted 2GB of data is so non-existent that on average i use about 150MB a month becuase it doesnt work at all most of the time. vodafail waved my first bill, and gave me $50 a month off until it is fixed, which i am assuming will be never. i would prefer to pay the full amount and get the service i signed up for. i would never have left telstra if i had any idea vodafone was this bad.

I went ahead with Vodafone 3G broadband, living in a major city - Brisbane, I didn't think it'd be a problem. It used to work ok and then all of a sudden one day I'd be getting 0 mb activity. It's been like that ever since Called up and complained and the issue was raised to the next level. They called me back 2 days later just to tell me that there was no coverage in the area and that I should go get a refund. In Brisbane?? Really?? Time to change to a new provider...

11078 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very bad at 7 Jan 2011 12:14:33 PM
After 6 years out of the country and as a former very happy vodafone customer, I decided to come back to them, what a difference a few years make, the Australian network from being in my opinion better than any I experienced overseas, is now awful, worse than some of the 3rd world countries I have lived in, what have they done in the last few years, looks like they have sacked or let go the engineers who originally, designed and built the network, maybe they have also have stopped upgrading and adding to their network, I also suspect cost cutting and a lack of investment in basic engineering services, i.e. coverage, congestion and quality, with most of the money going into selling app's that you use once and then get bored with them, leaving them with a very a very dodgy basic product for voice and data calls, after a few months and a threat of legal action from me, I managed to get out of the contract and am happy with an alternative provider

11077 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is at 7 Jan 2011 12:08:55 PM
I am in the middle of doing the contract walk. Been a Vodafoney customer for one and a half terms now. The first contract was okay until I got the iPhone. I'm sure most of you who are dataphiles notice the poor 3G service. Calls also drop out and the iPhone loses the signal and then has to be restarted to get the signal back etc.
I registered my complaint through email (very fast communication - one email a day) and was told that they were well aware of the problem, try to clean the SIM, switch to 2G instead; they are upgrading some suburbs etc. They offered me 2 months credit and I rejected it, preferring to walk. I then registered with the TIO to force Vodafone's hand in releasing me.

Intermediate hoop jumping - Vodafone then replied with a bunch of technical questions about the service like they'd never heard of this fault before. Some of the questions even requested my full name, telephone number and PIN (memory lapse).

I submitted the answers with the reference for the TIO submission. Looking forward to email number 4 from Vodey

11076 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failing and failing ... at 7 Jan 2011 12:02:15 PM
I pay for a third generation data service W-CDMA (UTMS) which Vodafoney started to introduce as far back as 2004. I have a great Google Nexus One (not from Vodafoney)and to get it to send and receive SMS/MMS I have to set it to GSM/CDMA. Okay, it is Google's programming blunders that mean standard messaging tries to send too big an image file and so I have to use CHOMP or HANDCENT (prefer the latter) which automatically reduces the file size to 300kb which Vodafoney will send/receive.

I complained to Vodafoney from my account page with them, and have yet to receive a reply. In anger I complained to the Telecommunications Ombudsman who is taking up with the carrier. See the back two pages of The Australian Financial Review concerning the company and the lack of action by the ACCC. It makes interesting reading.

11074 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ridiculous at 7 Jan 2011 11:58:13 AM
I have 3 contracts with vodafone, none of which work correctly. I have spent over two weeks trying to get in contact with them. I asked for a call back last week which I was told would be within 48 hours. I received a call back a week and half later. She was unable to help, told me I needed to take all 3 handsets in to a Vodafone Store to be sent to their service centre to be checked. Then if they came back with no issues I would then need to get the simcards checked which would take a further 10 days to check. When I told her I thought it was ridiculous to go through that with 3 different handsets all brand new and 2 exclusive to Vodafone I asked to speak to the technical dept. She was unable to put me through due to the high number of calls (surprise surprise) I then received a call back the next day. He had no idea about the phone I had or the operating system. He was unable to help and the solution offered was to put my simcard in another handset. Even though the problem was happening in 3 different phones. He also tried to tell me that Vodafone was no long having network issues and they had all been sorted, nevermind the fact that I was on the phone to him unable to receive mms or data. I am now just be waiting for the telecommunications ombudsmen to contact me.
